Scraping works, but the current modlog covers only a limited time. It's not possible to get a complete overview of all banned users. From various sources, I have a list of 170k banned users now, but it's far from complete.

Is there any place to have the modlog in raw format available? Even for the limited time. I want to check some things Smiley
3082  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: February 08, 2019, 12:41:43 PM
It seems there is something strange in today data(merit.txt), are these some kind of revoked merits?

Code:
~
1549404430 -10 0.msg0 0 92110
~

Theymos recently removed a merit source and revoked some of the merit he sent.

Interesting, this is cryptohunter right there. ^
3083  Other / Meta / Re: Additional data dumps? on: February 08, 2019, 12:23:34 PM
Can one still able to scrape data from the server? I thought theymos prohibited it since bitcointalk.to started to scrape the whole forum.

Both LoyceV and Vod are doing it, also i've seen other users too, so I think there is no any prohibition, yet.
I think if those dumps are available for download directly from the forum, more people can benefit out of it and there will be less traffic to the server.
3084  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Cannot verify signed message from Trezor with Electrum. on: February 08, 2019, 11:02:01 AM
Hello,

I ran into this issue yesterday when I try to verified a singed message from Trezor (P2SH) address.

I signed a new message from a new address with Trezor and tried again.
I have a standard Electrum wallet, do I need to create a P2SH SegWit wallet to be able to verify signatures from P2SH addresses?

Code:
---BEGIN MESSAGE---
Test message
---BEGIN ADDRESS---

---BEGIN SIGNATURE---

Thank you so much for taking the extra time for me on this one!

Very much appreciated Smiley

No worries, it was just puzzling why Electrum couldn't verify the message, when it went well with Trezor.
The address might be SegWit, but Electrum never had a problem with it.
I've just tested myself, signed a message and yeah, I can only verify it trough Trezor. Electrum and brainwallet give errors.
3086  Other / Meta / Re: Additional data dumps? on: February 08, 2019, 08:37:25 AM
It's not a necrobump.
Can we have the modlog and seclog dumps instead everyone to scrape the data from the server?

Posting on a row, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5074867.20, only he is the one who are posting on his thread. Reported moderators but marked it unhandled.  Reported on January 28, 2019, mod please take look on this thread.

He is bumping his thread in the Service section. As I see his bumps are over 24 hours in between so no worries there. The only problem I see is that he is not deleting his old bumps. I don't see it as a big abuse, tho.
I don't know about the service he provides if it is real or not but based on the forum rules, it seems fine to me, just the old bumps.

It's very difficult to trust real people you know and see everyday IRL, not to talk about the anonymous users in a forum full of scammers (even trusted ones like TF and Magicaltux).
Basically trust is not the most accurate word to describe the situation with the trust lists we (the DTs) are into . It's more like to agree with the perception and the reaction in different situations of the user, as you don't have other overview except his participation in the forum.
I don't think there can be real trust here in the forum involved in the trust lists.

The trust feedback is another thing,  a bit more acceptable as you risk some amount based on trust and you can confirm or reject users's trustfulness based on your deals.

3091  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Lightning Wallets ? on: February 07, 2019, 06:50:09 AM
Better move your thread to Beginners & Help section. Bitcoin Discussion is clogged with spam and your thread will just fall in this sinkhole.

To move your thread use the link in the bottom left corner.
3092  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: February 06, 2019, 04:59:54 PM

Quoted but message failed to verify. Not sure what's wrong, will try to verify it again later.

Same here, tried in Electrum but could't verify it. Looks like it's a SegWit address, phishead has to sign another message again.

Hmm.. I'm using trezor, not sure what happened.  Let me try again.

Code:
---BEGIN MESSAGE---
This is Phishead at Bitcointalk and today is February 6th

---END MESSAGE---

Strange. I'll check it with my Electrum and Trezor too, when I get home (in a few hours).

EDIT: Again could't verify with Electrum. I'll try with Trezor tomorrow.

I'm logging there from time to time, but I'm mostly reading.
The projects I'm working on IRL take most of my time so hopefully when they are finished, I'll have more free time for the fun part Smiley
I like the forum, so hoping that you'll find solution to keep it open and operational til I return Wink

We just got rid of the last " Merit broke my life" trend, only for to start a new "DT's broke my life".
Why all the drama?

3096  Other / Meta / Re: Limit in feedback leaving text? on: February 05, 2019, 11:30:00 AM
Theymos has changed the feedback size.
Let me find it...

OK, new limits:
 - You can't give more than 5 ratings to a single user.
 - Your total sent ratings is limited to three times your activity, but at least 1.
 - The comment length is limited to 600 characters, but each newline counts as 120 characters.

I think it's time for this thread to be locked.

We gonna keep an eye on you SvetaIvanova, low quality posters are allowed here but will be monitored.
Feel sorry for Saint-loup, I know exactly how he feels but sometimes, life give us lemons...
Hope the lesson is learned, the trust feedback cannot replace the moderators job.

Let's put an end to this case.

3098  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to my trust. Admins, help me please... on: February 04, 2019, 06:19:13 PM
Seems like the bounty report posted in the french local board was the tipping point for Saint-loup.
I agree that those posts are quite annoying outside of the bounty section but surly they deserve way "better" treatment.

If it was me, I would remove my negative feedback and focus on the plagiarism, it's much better to get them banned completely.
Trust and feedback are for different occasions.

3100  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 773M Emails Hacked on: February 04, 2019, 10:41:53 AM
Change the password of your email into the stronger one, using the combination of caps number and symbol, it would be more secure.

The problem with numbers, special symbols, uppercase letters and other techniques is that people strongly tend to do it in predictable way, like putting numbers in the end, capital letters at the beggining, etc. If you have a really short password that is based on some popular word, it might get cracked pretty fast, even if it has numbers and special symbols. Those types of passwords are usually very hard to remember, and you can get a lot of trouble if it's your main email with no methods of resetting your password. The better approach is to use very long passwords with normal words, if you don't use a password manager, or just random strings if you do.

Damn, I start using this strategy for some years now and I even memorized my seed. (it was difficult job to keep the order) together with the Walled address.
Long ago I've reinstall my Windows XP so many times that even memorized the CD key and used it for some time as a password Cheesy
Used to mess around with IPv6 addresses so I manage to create a technique to memorize those addresses, i guess for the regular people this will difficulty.
