Wow, such a great news, noticed the change when I was logging in.

Thank you theymos for doing that, I still remember your long "to do" list and this was not on the top priority but hey it's wonderful news Smiley

Thanks PowerGlove for the work!!

Woohooo
2  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk news ( more like drama/gossip thread) where to start it? on: November 29, 2023, 08:34:05 PM
reputation and off topic would be appropriate for such topics.
No, not off-topic for forum drama.  Either Reputation or Meta, and both of these have already been suggested and I'm pretty sure OP is thinking of one or the other.

Welcome back, TheBeardedBaby!  Compared to years past, there really hasn't been tons of drama or really serious crap go down since you've been gone.  Yeah, the Ratimov thing and Royse777 getting his reputation tarnished practically overnight.  Vod came back twice to stir the pot about OgNasty and forum funds....aside from those things, I'll be damned if I can think of anything that stuck in my Teflon memory bank.  It's been almost too quiet.

Seems like i can just pm you for all the TL;DR drama  Smiley

Thanks guys, I'm thinking to have the thread moderated, then I don't have many options... Still under consideration...

Love you guys Wink
3  Other / Meta / Bitcointalk news ( more like drama/gossip thread) where to start it? on: November 27, 2023, 12:37:46 AM
Hello guys Smiley

As you may know or not know or don't care... I wasn't quite active the past year, but I'm coming from time to time to read. There are quite some things happening like the Ratimov drama for example which I found out by chance. I really like to know what's going on here, but I don't have the time to go through 10 topics to find what I want to read.

That's why I was thinking about a thread collecting all the gossip and making it easy to adjust the clock to the current forum situation.
Kind of TL;DR for lazy ppl Smiley

Where shall this thread find its home?

4  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase delisting BSV :) on: November 06, 2023, 10:40:25 PM
Considering the fact that the bitcoin community is fighting against the faketoshi, this is a big win and I still think its relevant to this section.
Edit: the mods moved it anyway
5  Economy / Exchanges / Coinbase delisting BSV :) on: November 06, 2023, 10:30:07 PM
Here's a quote from the mail I got from Coinbase

Quote
Effective January 9, 2024, Coinbase will no longer support Bitcoin SV (BSV).
Users are able to withdraw BSV funds until support for this asset is deprecated on January 9, 2024 at or around 12pm ET. If you fail to withdraw your BSV funds, Coinbase will liquidate any BSV remaining in your Coinbase account. Upon liquidation, your BSV will be converted to the then-equivalent market value of another supported digital asset and credited back to your account, minus any transaction costs. Please note, after accounting for transaction costs, and subject to market fluctuations, you may not receive any compensation when the remaining BSV in your account is liquidated.
If you do not withdraw your BSV by January 9, 2024, you may incur tax liability or have other unanticipated tax consequences as a result of the liquidation or conversion and you are solely responsible for any taxes associated with transactions on Coinbase.
If you do not want your BSV funds liquidated, you must withdraw your funds by January 9, 2024.
Trading is not enabled for BSV and you cannot deposit BSV funds into your Coinbase account. Attempting to send BSV to your Coinbase account may result in a loss of funds.
If you have any questions about how to send your BSV out of Coinbase, please visit Coinbase Help

6  Other / Meta / Re: Deleted post in a self-moderated thread. No link to the thread. on: October 29, 2023, 05:31:11 PM
Thanks guys,  I know the workarounds but for me it should be logical to get the info in the pm, that what made me surprised, and I can't find a logical reason why it should not be there.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I'm a bit out of time to spend here the past year or so. It could be a great idea to have like a newsletter one a month of the most intriguing things going on in here Smiley

Hoping for a better time ahead and to come back again as in the good old days Smiley

Cheers, I miss you guys really 🍺😊

I just got a pm that one of my post was deleted, but there is no link to the thread and even not the subject of the thread. Like I have to remember where I posted it like 3-4 years ago maybe even older.

Here's the how the message looks like:

Amy plans to make a series for the public Smiley I hate the smart watches, I use one just because Im too lazy to carry a phone with me, and often I don't hear it so... But mechanical watches are hype for me Smiley
9  Other / Meta / Re: How many people use Tor to access TalkImg? on: October 10, 2023, 06:25:10 PM
I use Tor, but I choose to use it so I won't complain Smiley if it happens that I cannot do something with Tor then I use other browser. It's not that big security issue especially with Talking.

16  Other / Meta / Re: Cloudflare - Not a robot (maybe...) on Show All on: July 10, 2023, 10:08:11 PM
Damn, after I complained about the Show All It's throwing cloudflare errors now randomly.

I feel like I pissed off the CF demons, and that's what I get in return. Lol
17  Other / Meta / Cloudflare - Not a robot (maybe...) on Show All on: June 30, 2023, 10:01:25 AM
Bumping in this Cloudflare verification every time I open "show ALL" posts, and until now I never manage to prove that I'm not a bot, lol

NOTE: USING TOR!!!

Is anyone else ever manage to escape this trap or am I just some crappy AI alfa-test version that cannot do simple thing like this... lol

18  Other / New forum software / Re: Progress? We're waiting... on: June 29, 2023, 09:39:38 AM
I think I'll just leave this here, it's old but I guess theymos has not changed his mind yet so...

The software is substantially complete. The main period of development was a while ago; the current work is mainly just maintenance & relatively minor improvements. Try running it yourself and you'll find that it's working, fast, and nearly feature-complete.

The things blocking a transition from the current software to the new software are:
 - There hasn't been enough testing. I think that immediately after transition, a variety of small missed features, bugs, and performance issues would crop up. As a result, if the transition happened now (which is technically possible!), I'd expect the post-transition user experience to be poor for months while these things are fixed, which I don't want.
 - I am the only bitcointalk.org sysadmin and on-demand programmer, and I'm used to the current software. Furthermore, I need to frequently make changes to the current software, but each change I make might require alterations to Epochtalk, which is problematic.
 - The current PHP software, while ugly and sub-optimal in many ways, performs well, especially since I have extensively modified the backend to add features and improve performance. So I don't feel much urgency.
 - The data-transition procedure still has a few known minor bugs.

We continue to work on these issues. I think that ultimately I may need to hire one or more full-time people, since a big problem is that the full transition is likely to create a ton of work which I won't be able to effectively handle alone.

The software is not vaporware (it's long existed in a runnable state, and is currently basically feature-complete), and is not abandoned (look at the git commit log). If anyone is unhappy with the progress, I invite them to take the Epochtalk code and create a competing forum with it; since they won't have to worry about the transition issues, they'd have a much easier time, and their testing will also end up helping us.

In short: If you want the software quicker, go run your own forum with it, and work to get any problems or missing features you find resolved via bug reports, etc. This would increase public interest, provide much-needed testing, and I might even hire you to work on bitcointalk.org when we're ready to do the final transition here.
19  Other / New forum software / Re: Progress? We're waiting... on: June 17, 2023, 01:37:21 AM
I'll echo what I said many times before. Theymos wants us (the users) to test the forum software and when most of the bugs are fixed then maybe we can see it coming to life here...
For me, paid testers would do much more efficient work in a shorter time frame, but that's just me Smiley
20  Economy / Reputation / Re: MODS. . . When are you removing this negative rating on my profile? on: June 08, 2023, 07:02:13 PM
Moderators have nothing to do with scams. They do not moderate scams and cannot remove neg trust. Only the one who left the trust can remove it, or theymos (but those are very rare cases).
since Marlboroza is away for quiet some time now, I think you have no luck with the neg trust.

Having more than 1 account is no problem, joining same campaign with many accounts is a rule breaking event and deserves neg tag.
