3081  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lowest Difficulty increase in a while! on: July 12, 2014, 10:53:46 PM
A mere 3.08% increase in difficulty this time round Smiley Smiley
Is this the future of things to come?
Or is the increase going to continue to grow exponentially?

Thoughts...

Just wait for the next rally Smiley and you will see how the diff will go up with the value of a coin Smiley

When you look at Difficulty  chart you can easily see what is goin to happen very soon Smiley

3083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid thefts using stolen bitcoins. on: July 12, 2014, 10:30:52 PM
I must say this is a problem for Bitcoiners when their coins get stolen ...

I think that hackers are kinda happy that Bitcoin was created in other way than we are ...
They have so many chances to get people's coins ... and then well ... chances that they will get caught are lower than than that they will somehow withdraw it with no tracking possible Sad

And this is a problem I must say.
But you have to remember that most of the hackers are doing really simple tricks and you are able to secure yourself ...

Almost every video about "how to get started with Bitcoin"  is sharing main security steps which you HAVE to take if not you are placing yourself in a risky situation.

Strong password. Never stored! Just in a brain or a sheet of a paper cut in a half and placed in two different secure places.

-Layer security  ex.Firewall = mininum 2x firewall - router + OS

and be AWARE of phising e-mails! ALWAYS check what is a LINK connected to a button "login" in your e-mail from FB or Twitter or ANYTHING else (Forum/etc).

Bitcoin is a digital currency.

If you are hodling - store COLD-STORAGE (offline!)

For spendings follow security steps and decrease the risk!

Regards..

3084  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tutorial help on backing up wallet.dat?? on: July 12, 2014, 10:15:22 PM
You can just make a dropbox account and just backup your wallet.dat file there!  Smiley

Well just remember if you want to do it ... that this data is online then, so better set a strong password to your backup:) 30 chars, special chars, upper, digits etc... and NEVER store your password in a plain TXT file !!! PLEASE!.
3085  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 12, 2014, 03:14:15 PM
Couldn't the thief just launder the coins bit by bit and get away with it scot-free?

For example: You could just trade some of them for another virtual currency on some random exchange, and then convert what you bought back into BTC, and voila, clean bitcoins. Or use a laundering service. It seems really easy to get around if you're smart? Which obviously this person is to have been able to steal them in the first place. I am just looking at it realistically.

I DO hope that you get them back. This person is a criminal and deserves to be caught.
Congratulations, if the thief is reading this topic and didn't come to that, then you have just helped him Smiley

I don't think he helped him :-) as this will not really work :-)
When he will transfer coins into an exchange then we might get a chance to track this transaction. And later track his exchange account :-)
3086  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 12, 2014, 02:53:07 PM
Can you imagine how much pressure he/she must be under knowing these is a $300,000 bounty on his/her head?

Every noise must be analysed - is it something new, or just the regular sounds of the house? Is there someone outside?

If our hacker lives in a city, any time he/she hears a siren, he must freeze. Is it past yet? Feeling the sweat streaming down his back. Can he escape through the window? Why is his chest so tight? Will he fight? Will he pretend he knows nothing if apprehended?

Who is after him? Did he make any mistakes? Did he try to log into the dropbox a few days before, without being behind tor. Is that logged? Is he sure his IP hasn't been revealed somewhere? Is it even possible to be truly traceless? As a hacker, he knows it's not possible.

Listening to the silence hacker?

Where I came out of, people got shot for hundreds of dollars.

This hacker is clearly a computer chair hacker in that he has no idea how the rest of the criminal world works.

Stealing that amount if bitcoin is so stupid because of the way bitcoin can be tracked.

The hackers need only make one small mistake and he will be busted. His best hope is to return the btc. His second best hope is that the police catch him. The last and worse option is three large dudes show up to collect the bounty. What isn't an option is that the hacker gets to live happily ever after spending the coins.

My prediction is that the hacker is in jail or dead in less than two weeks.

Scambags should get the instant karma.
He don't deserve to die he deserves to be punished :-)
I don't know how to track him at the moment but I am sure that head hunters will get him.
500btc price is enough to make the best head hunters join this searchings.

This h@x0r must be really depressed atm. As he know that those coins are gonna to be tracked till his end.

3089  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: LINK TO BANKSYCOIN LAUNCH THREAD on: July 12, 2014, 01:09:49 PM
Hey, why not ask a mod to move the thread for you?

I didn't realise you could do that to be honest. How can I contact a moderator? thanks

Hey BanksyCoin! Smiley

When I want Mods to move my thread I am doing a thing like that:

Go to official BanksyCoin Official Launch thread and on the #1 post press (in the bottom right corner of the #1 post) "report to moderator" and then you can type info why you are reporting this post - then write a message like "This is my thread - please move this thread to the  Announcements (Altcoins) section - thanks"

it should work just fine.

Smiley
3090  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: July 11, 2014, 11:33:14 PM
what a shitty coin, 10% premine and no ANN thread in the  Announcements section. FAIL

But yours not really deserve to be quoted ... Smiley

99% of altcoins are premined - and IF premined coins are used for bounties and giveaways it is just typical for altcoin market isn't? Smiley

How many altcoins were not premined? Smiley Or better one - how many PoS coins were not premined? Smiley

3091  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: July 11, 2014, 07:18:26 PM
That would be something big Wink

Banksy might be busy while preparing his artworks Smiley I dunno is he involved with crypto world or not Wink

But I hope one day he will type "Bansy" @google and this thread will appear Tongue Then he will join us for sure Smiley As this is Banksy's fans coin for sure.
3092  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEW SCRYPT COIN ---- BanksyCoin on: July 11, 2014, 07:13:40 PM
◦Total Premine: 10%

Good joke,.

Not really a joke.

I must say I prefer coins where there is no premine .. but when we are talking about PoS coins most of them  are premined. Isn't?

3093  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][C2.1] Coin2 | Pow/PoS | ChainOfConflict[FPS] The Future of Gaming is Now on: July 11, 2014, 07:03:45 PM
5 more days until the voting ends for www.coinpayments.net

If anyone on here has not gone and voted there isnt much time left...lets get this done for the progression of our coin

Details on page 1 of this thread if you dont know what we are all talking about.

I got a good feeling that we will make it Smiley as always most of the votes will come in last day Smiley this is typical.

Regards.
3094  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BANKSYCOIN OFFICIAL LAUNCH # NEW CRYPTO COIN on: July 11, 2014, 07:01:15 PM

3095  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info security certificate gone?? on: July 11, 2014, 06:11:33 PM
Is it just me, or is this missing? I just tried to go there, and got the Firefox Untrusted website page. The "s" is missing also in the https.

http://blockchain.info/

Is it safe to log into my wallet while this is missing?

Thanks!!

well I see "s" ... Smiley

https://blockchain.info/

It is working for me... I click on your link and "s" was added. I googled "blockchain" and click on a link, a link with "s" was opened Smiley

You can try to ping blockchain.info - check is their IP 141.101.112.196.
Maybe some malware is redirecting your connection. But I don't think so.

Kind regards.
3096  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is BitSimple offline, or is it just me? on: July 11, 2014, 06:07:44 PM

HTTP Error 404. The requested resource is not found.

waddup wit dat?

 Huh

Well you are right they are offline...

Hmm. Helpdesk seems offline too  I was trying to enter their LiveChat but it was not possible.Smiley.. they didn't post anything on Twitter .. well you need to give it a time.
3097  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: New bitcoin open ponzi game with 150% hourly payouts on: July 11, 2014, 05:58:24 PM
thanks for being honest Smiley

Well I don't like those kind of games but at least you did explain to everyone how does it works Smiley
This is still a Ponzi but at least people can clearly read and think about it and choose to play or not .

Kind regards.
3098  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Escrow list? on: July 11, 2014, 05:28:24 PM
There was pretty similar thread created yesterday you might find interesting to have a look at it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=684754.0

You will find that no all of the good escrows are on that list from a post above but most of them.
Read linked thread it will give you pretty good answer.

Kind regards.
3099  Economy / Services / Re: I was hacked (1170btc stolen) - 500btc max BOUNTY on: July 11, 2014, 03:53:07 PM
Wow... that's a freaking theft...  The wallet was online I assume?
Electrum - dropbox was compromised (with plain txt for the pwd, I know I know..)

You are shitting me .. you kept >1000BTC and you had a txt file with your password on a dropbox.

Smiley

I wish I can track those thieves but perhaps this will be not possible for me.

Kind regards.

PS. Lesson for newbies and not only: Never store your password anywhere else than in your brain OR write it down on a piece of a paper and keep it SAFE in a place that is known only for you!
you can even slice it and keep in different places Cheesy

Change your password from time to time Smiley ...
