I listed my castle for sale. If I manage to flip now, even at a slight fiat loss, I would have gained 3x the bitcoins in a year. Decent trade, huh?  Grin

As it hits 140 tomorrow I will remember to think of the shameless shill that only you could come up with Shocked

Professional way to invest
- Adjust positions to have portfolio that performs in all scenarios
- Lay back and watch (haven't done a BTC trade in almost a year)
- Adjust when major things happen

Headless chicken way
- Haphazard portfolio allocation based on no analysis nor plan
- Wishing that something would go up instead of accepting whatever comes
- Selling at capitulation, buying at mania.

What harm am I doing and to which group?   Cheesy
3083  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 14, 2015, 11:30:50 PM
BTC is only 50x my entry price (about 3 years ago). Like now, that was a major bottom. Should I buy more? Thoughts?
3084  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: January 14, 2015, 11:16:29 PM
Dow -350

are you sure you want to sell BTC?
Why not.  With previous high broken through and badly who knows where the real bottom lies.  It not like anyone will be selling their houses to buy back BTC just yet or ever.  With most selling done in the high 100s or 1000s the smart entry point for BTC is likely lower.  And that assumes an honest market which now that Wall Street is involved is anybodies guess.  But it appears we are getting closer.

Well, since you ask, I just happened to do it a while ago:

Bitcoiners want to get billionaires quick with their little scheme, call noobs that are trying to get out of the mess late "greedy".

It is no secret that I sold some at $675 in 2013. The next exit zone starts earliest at $3,000, probably higher.

It is no greed to sell at a bottom, it is just stupid. Stuff is as valuable as a year ago (or more, due to more adoption, etc.), yet 75% cheaper. This is a game and you are offered 4 times better odds than last time when you took them. Instead of taking them now, or holding, you decide to fold.

If anyone becomes a billionaire with bitcoin, he deserves it. So many chances of folding were offered but he held on.
But where is you buy zone?  At what price point would you consider selling the castle to load up on BTC?  Or perhaps you wouldn't ever?  You mentioned most of the last bubble selling was in the high 100s, close to 1000 so assuming that a buyback price point would have to be 10x - 20x lower for most who cashed out to buy back at least same amount or more the bottom is still lower.

It depends what conversion ratio I get for the castle. They don't move very easily and mine could be appraised to half of what I paid for, or twice that. When I bought it, the plan was "<300 sell it, >3000 repair it, else hold it".

If I get the same that I invested, it's already looking good. More than 3 times increase in bitcoins in one year. (The secondary effect is that BTC price would go to >300 if bought at market).

So let's make it official: I'll sell the "bitcoin castle" to a serious buyer, asking price € 1.1 million, my cost so far.

These kind of things make the rational player conclude that BTC is oversold. If a person in my position needs to buy more, instead of just living with the previous gains, everyone else should be buying already.

Also transactions at an ATH.

The whole 2014 is funny, a year of massive increase/improvement in everything. But price development somewhat sad. Reminds me of 2012.

Simply pointing out that you are taking financial advice from a man recently released from a mental institution Smiley

Yes, and guess what? There is no law that compels me to mention it. I do it voluntarily, for my reasons. After going through this, and many other experiences, I know some things about how the world operates. People are able to learn it from my writings, but you can never learn very much if it is not verified by experience.

My dealings with the government started in 2005, by my reading of some conspiracist literature, which seemed to be alarmingly truthful when I compared it to the things I saw happening in the world. Already in 2008 I was so dangerous that an armed team of 8 guys was sent to my home at daybreak. Then came seizures and many court cases. Many perceive that Finland is a lawful country, with lawbreakers punished and law also granting rights to people. Well, miles of laws we have here, but if they are not expedient for the situation at hand, they can be broken by judges. I lost the recognition towards the judicial system after they too many times mistreated me, even against their own laws.

If I believed in my rights, I could have the hospitalization order re-examined, since the law requires me to be "dangerous to myself or others" for such procedure to take effect. Everyone knows that I have never hit another person, nor had a thought or word of hurting myself for over a decade. The only thing I am dangerous against, is the banking cartel. But I already know from experience that the judicial system is capable of straight-faced delivery of any verdict. So raising these matters in court does not help. Raising them here makes fools cry out: "look the guy's just come out from a nuthouse", but it's not the fools for whom I write, it is the wise - the people who understand things, and are here for learning, and contributing themselves.

If something in the above disqualifies me from being read, there's the "Ignore" button for that. Thank you.

In turn, I feel it a chore that your messages need to be "open"ed first before deletion, so please don't post. Thank you.

For the above story, Prince Joseph is credited:
- one very ancient item he has brought from his travels (full Items mgmt is scheduled in V.Cool
- one of the household ART-3 is promoted SPE-3 and ART-2 to ART-3 (for the net effect of ART-2 to SPE-3)

Meanwhile in the town accounting centres in the Town Hall annex and Halls of Justice (there is only one hall of justice in the building, but it sounds greater this way):

Labor pool is renewed. It still gives the basic income for commoners, but the Nobles and anyone who has a large economic footprint, it can be a source of great additional income or even loss. Each character incl. companies is calculated a "mgmt need" rating, and this need must be met by having professional people in your Household (see /SERV, business_id 10XX, where XX is your Character id). This is intended to lessen the wealth concentration by making large business empires to pay more for the central management. Midrange characters have it easier to meet the demands. Commoners are typically not affected.

Donations are implemented. In a tab named /DONATION, you just select the recipient and add the amount, and it will annually be transferred from your account. The implementation of this took about 30 minutes and the maintenance is zero. So enjoy the fruits of the new DB structure.

- HM is donating 5 million every year to Church. "The Church is taking care of the poor, the children, and many things that HM has the heart, but not currently the time, for."

- HM is donating 5 million every year to Monero House. "There is no easier way to automatically donate to the Monero development than this. All Monero House proceeds go to the development address and are credited in the cAPSLOCK Monero Hall of Fame."

- HM is donating 5 million every year to University. "The University is about to enlarge greatly and start a wonderful new era of science and culture, and naturally this is worthy of supporting."

- HM is donating 10 million every year to Army. "The Royal CryptoArmy needs to be maintained through peacetime as well as war. It is the Defender of what is Precious, Guarantor of our Freedoms, and (soon) also Punisher of our Enemies. "

Rental pool has been distributed once. To make up for the years lost, it was now distributed to all floorspace, rented or not. This was due to the update being still a bit under construction. The actual rental owners lost in comparison to the other business owners (who got double payment, from the business, plus the space as if it was rented). This will be remedied in the future by adjusting the remaining pool amounts.

Special pool is still not ready, but that's about the one last thing still needing to be done in the version, and not a difficult one.

Fools don't have 0.2% of all the bitcoins. The number is small enough to be coughed up by anyone with some power (even I would qualify), but at the same time too large to be caused by fools, most of whom have long since either sold all their bitcoins at a loss or keep them away from exchanges (which soon qualifies them among the wise, btw..)
3091  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: January 14, 2015, 10:30:06 AM
I just made my 2015 retirement contribution.

You got the bitcoins, and all? Price was what says in the screen?

(less than a year ago the market leader with cheap coins went bust, so just assessing this scenario also  Angry )

You actuality have to kill Bitcoin to take me out.

As in sub single digits. Let's see it.

Low prices are times to buy. For this reason sub-single digits are a dream.

Sorry for bringing Monero to the table, but that shows the floor with Bitcoin also. The (probably no more than a few dozen) true enthusiasts keep the market cap at a few million, while the technology gets developed. Given Bitcoin's way larger pool of true enthusiasts, I'd say we are already oversold, and even the theoretical floor is in double-digits.

If one (or all, for that matter) exchanges show that USDBTC < $1, my response is and will be: For every BTC sent to this address, $1 will be given in return.

We accept new players!

It is easy to enter the game as a new player! Just ask any of the admins (we are about 10 atm) to add your information in the /CHAR tab:
- BCT nick in column "B" in the new id's starting from 78
- Name in the game in column "C"
- Age of the character at start in column "O"
- Sex in column "R" (coded as Male(1), Female (0))
- Write the current year in the game in column "AD"
- Write "Visitor" in column "S".

A deposit is not required for starting. To get the game going, you can either/or/both ask donations and favors from the nobles who hang around in Freenode ##crypto-kingdom (or this thread), or make the deposit (contact "saddambitcoin" for payment id) and buy stuff.

The cheapest houses in the game are in 2-W chapelry, it is a peaceful area of 13 small houses in their own lots, no land tax. They take you up to Level 4. The already discounted price is 25 million (25 XMR), but as a special giveaway:

- the King is making 10 million off for new players
- the Bank is giving a 10 million loan against the lot (optional, nobody is forced to go in debt).

We purposefully leave raising the 5 million for your imagination Smiley

Sir Saddam, the Earl of Ramsey has been given the King's Hero medal.
I am glad I was a part of the first Quarry subgame.

I remember saying something before any of the sites was assigned:
Quarry subgame starts now Smiley

...

Good Luck!
you need it...

Your gameplay in the face of the ultimate bad luck as regards the geology of the site is commendable. I don't mean that receiving the medal is only possible in such circumstances, but they certainly differentiate the men from the bitchers.  Grin

As long as you fear Satan, you are bound to him. When Jesus sets you free, you are truly free.

(NSA has all the information of this world, and U.S. Navy holds sway over most of the planet, and the national armies and other forces over the rest. Whether you can use XMR in secret or not, is irrelevant as long as you fear that "stepping over the line" makes them find child porn in your computer and you go to jail, and 7 billion people applause. So yes, XMR is important, but only in the context that people let themselves be set free. Waging this war in the minefield of the enemy is not a winning strategy.)
3095  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 14, 2015, 08:32:53 AM
True. You can only ignore government, after living through the tribulations it is capable on delivering to you, and realising in the end:

"I will not talk with you much longer, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me. [Lit. has nothing in me]" (John 14:30)

3096  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 14, 2015, 08:26:06 AM
Sorry for not posting. I know I have information that could help you, but since my own trading plan is long-term, the short-term noise is not an input of my decisions, and therefore, due to not having "money at stake" in this sense (and REALLY much work to do in increasing the adoption of crypto), the motivation to post is low.

About 0.2% of the bitcoin existing is dumped in the exchanges, making the price go down. The magnitude of the move is such that in my opinion, the most feasible scenario is that a large OTC deal has been pegged to the future price in the exchanges, and the buyer (having lots of BTC already), has an incentive to cause the price to go down by outright sales, and also strategic dumping with the exception to buy back lower.

I have done this with my paltry means myself, successfully (even without the pegged OTC part, nor malicious intention):

You can't speculatively (profitably) long bitcoins, you can only short. So it's probably some supernode trying their capabilities (American likely), but I will be impressed only after breaching $.11. If I can do $.119->$.09752 in 3 days, surely others can do even better!  Grin
Just check this shit. What I find amazing is that there is people that take this guy half seriously

Um, as for these 450 Mt.Gox trades for the total of 4,496,297mBTC transferred, I even have the complete record, and willing to post it publicly if sb cares to analyze it..

EDIT: Here you are Smiley

I think I have to coin a 1984ish word, "untrue", to be used every time somebody posts a claim, which is total bullshit, but luckily easily refutable by truth.

2 days after the post above, I was forcibly hospitalized in a mental institution for 6 weeks and the means of communication taken away. Further, the forced medication took about 4 months to leave the body.

So kids, don't try this at home. If you can buy at the cheapened prices without excessive risk, do it. But leave the market manipulation to TPTB.

The other scenario, that Bitstamp is about to go belly up, is possible, but I have not done a bit of research concerning it, so my estimate of probability is anything [0,1].

I believe that the next one might carry us north of $10,000. The longer time we spend here, the more explosive it gets. The supermove from $2 to $266 (133x price appreciation) took 17 months. Extrapolate that with the starting point of $340 in 2014-4-11.

You can say that something in the last 5 months has disproven something that I have claimed in it?

Well, this was easy. It is pretty clear now that the starting point and value have changed. If you can make that the main point of the posting and make fun of it, please do it elsewhere.

I'm just dying to hear what Risto makes of this (Stamp 155 and falling).

Blockchain, as a technology, is indestructible. A reasonable starting point is to understand that crypto is here to stay, and no laws or wars can stop it. Any individual cryptocoin, Bitcoin included, has challenges particular to it, and local laws and wars may prove detrimental to individuals' wealth, as well as life.

People can only learn more about Bitcoin, unlearning is not possible. With any technology, invention or innovation, there is an adoption curve that is the aggregate of all the people's individual propensities of learning about a new thing, deciding to use it, trying it, and amplifying their usage to significant levels. On average, the process from first hearing about something, to trying it, takes 2 years. From trying to actual adoption, we might add 1 more year.

The current number of Bitcoin owners is likely a paltry 1-2 million. Even smaller is the number of people who actively use Bitcoin in their life. The first number, at least, has not grown significantly in 2014. Enthusiasm has given way to apathy, evidenced by both price and volume of trades lagging far behind their highs.

Meanwhile, the 2 years average delay from first hearing to first trial, is slowly becoming fulfilled in hundreds of millions of people. There were millions who heard about the bubble in 2011, and their "2 years" started counting. Not enough of them were ready to buy in 2012, which was still a year of slow price appreciation. But in 2013, the great advances were made by the people who had had 2 years to ensure themselves that it was not a fly-by-night. In 2012, the global media coverage about Bitcoin was tiny, but in 2013 all changed. In two years, we are talking about 100x more people in the pipeline of becoming Bitcoin owners.

This gives rise to the exponential trendline. There is only one way to draw a trendline with the best R^2 fit (follows from the fact that goodness-of-fit is a universal criterion), and it is shown here. The number of Bitcoin users is so small at 1-2 million that the trendline should stay exponential 2 more orders of magnitude minimum.

An added reason is that because Bitcoin is money, and the exponential trendline means exponential gains for everyone involved, it makes sense to speculate and buy a large number of bitcoins instead of the fair share. (The fair share assuming worldwide adoption is BTC0.002 and assuming that only the elite of 3% world's richest and most connected buy it, BTC0.07.)

An increasing number of people are already ready to buy bitcoins. Banks, ETF's, private services, etc. have the infrastructure ready for launch. Both are waiting. Bitcoin holders are anxious, but as long as their anxiety results in them selling more bitcoins to the deep-pocket investors, the wait continues. In 2012 it continued quite long, with price going up only a little (more than 100% though).

Hearing about Bitcoin is the start of your Bitcoin pregnancy. Of these pregnancies, not all perhaps result in a healthy baby (adopting Bitcoin as your home currency), but luckily here, the time is not limited to 9 months. The average with those who currently are power users may have been 3 years (or less, since the delay is shorter with people with the early adopter mindset), but for others it may be 5 years. Miscarriages happen often, but the reverse-miscarriage is also a very typical occurrence.

We have a world-record number of Bitcoin pregnancies going on now, and hardly any births for several months already. I believe that the laws of nature and mathematics will take care that the babies will be seen in increasing numbers. Smiley

The trendline shows how much behind we are currently. The price shows the daily birth rate. I am writing this from a castle that I bought with money earned by trading Bitcoin based on the very premise I have explained to you here.

I believe that the next one might carry us north of $10,000. The longer time we spend here, the more explosive it gets. The supermove from $2 to $266 (133x price appreciation) took 17 months. Extrapolate that with the starting point of $340 in 2014-4-11.

You read it, right?

You understood it?

You can say that something in the last 5 months has disproven something that I have claimed in it?

If the answer is NO, NO, NO, please do not post again. This is a self-moderated thread for a reason.

Before replying, read it once again. It is one of the good posts among my 1000+ existing.

PS. I have seen both of the other big exchanges hitting lower values. It only happens when you are in risk of losing your money (which happened re: MtGox). Don't want to go there again. Even if Stamp hits $0, I am only buying OTC.

Just because it didn't happen yesterday doesn't mean it's never going to happen.

And the corollary: if there's a mechanism that makes it happen, and yet it has not happened yet,

=> IT WILL SURELY HAPPEN.

This is the whole point of the whole thread. Elsewhere I'm talking about probabilities and stuff, and that's where I really excel. This thread is simple: if it grows by design, and you cannot kill it, it will take over the world, and the question is only about that of timing. Or altering the premises. Many critics cannot go that far though, or generally to anything else except USD/BTC.

Every day, there is more freedom from oppressive governments because of Bitcoin.

Really? Could you please explain how those 100'000 people get more "freedom from oppresive governments" by using bitcoin?  Is "freedom"  just evading taxes, or buying illegal drugs, weapons, child porn -- or is there something else?

It is maybe the same as other bogus enemies, like drugs, (child) porn, tax evasion, using a mobile when you drive, ...

Their only reason of existence in the legal code is to:
1) keep people anxious and depressed due to the sheer number of regulations that they must adhere to, and the incomprehensibility of them
2) provide skeletons in the closet for all people, so that if they reach a position of power, yet start to think and act independently, they can be replaced by using this "new" "scandal" information that just surfaced from NSA servers.

My position in this debate is:
- A government that claims the right to regulate what people do to themselves, or adults between themselves, is a tyrannical government based on this alone. There is no need to claim a media label of being such. Also just because you own the media, does not make you a non-tyrant if you engage in tyranny, ie. suppression.
- People do not need to apply for permission for anything, from the government. Liberty means you are free to do stuff, and if the others are infringed in their rightful rights to life, liberty or property, then they, or the government, make you pay, or gouge your eye, or put you to jail, or death (according to the crime). But not before.
