3101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: April 06, 2022, 01:36:49 PM
Also if the businesses look toward using the BTC to fund their day-to-day business for the same reasons, I think that might be problematic
How can this be a problem, consider yourself buying a commodity worth of 0.05btc at 0.03btc isn't it pretty good on you own side, same it will be on vice versa if you're the seller but at this time you're loosing, the economy behind market is in the power of demand and supply, we can't expect a continuous increase in selling or buying price in one direction else market will not be suitable worth doing.
In El Salvador, Marchants can be paid in bitcoin, but the Marchant can decide to make the payment to automatically be converted to United States dollar immediately. This means that people can decide to pay in bitcoin or United States dollar, marchants can decide to immediately convert the payment to either bitcoin or United States dollar. Because legal tender in El Salvador can used for payment if people like it or not brought confusion at the start, not knowing it still work in a way people can choose to automatically convert the payment in either bitcoin or United States dollar. No one is forcing anyone to use bitcoin.

The minister attributes this recovery to three factors.[/li][/list]
    • Handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country
    • Investments that derive from the interest the country and its economic movements have awakened in foreign markets.
    • The utilization of bitcoin and the interest it is bringing to the country
I just have this thinking that people, especially bitcoin users will want to just experience buying and touring with bitcoin, it is a kind of good experience. I think the increase in tourism in El Salvador will be more connected to the country that made bitcoin a legal tender.  Nobody also cares about what people are saying or what is happening, what that matters is that no one is forcing anyone to use bitcoin.
3102  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: The best passphrase on: April 06, 2022, 12:55:42 PM
It is not a complicated process for me, what if I want to use 2-of-2 multisig, I will still need two seed phrase that would be created, the two have to be protected. I am only having two seed phrase, one will not be used for seed phrase but for passphrase. If I use a strong passphrase, I can not remember, if the backup is lost, it is lost forever in a way I can no more access my coins anytime I want wallet recovery. If I can backup the passphrase and seed phrase differently, have three backup, it is good option for me. I do not see difference between a passphrase I created myself that I do not remember but backup and a seed phrase that I use as passphrase that I backup. Thank you all for your suggestions.
3103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: April 05, 2022, 06:26:58 PM
I also hope that the countries that are experiencing economic crisis because of inflation, the local currency has almost depreciated, will soon accept and use bitcoin as a form of legal tender like El Salvador. Bitcoin will be the solution that can help them overcome difficulties instead of waiting for the help of great powers
Government will want to protect their own local currency, it is people that should wake up and know the right thing to do like investing in bitcoin in long term. Countries do not have to make bitcoin a legal tender before citizens should know they can buy and hold bitcoin. Even the citizens of the countries that implicitly banned bitcoin can still buy, hold or trade bitcoin which is what that mostly matters. Only countries that totally banned bitcoin have little option because many citizens in such countries will not use bitcoin but nothing still stop people to use bitcoin in a decentralized way.

Its very difficult for all countries to accept bitcoin and force their citizens to use it, unless it benefits them.
Because a country accepts bitcoin and friendly with it does not mean the government of the country is making bitcoin mandatory in such country.
3104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! on: April 05, 2022, 11:18:13 AM
since many countries have openly said they want to adopt bitcoin widely but only El Salvador is actually doing that where they have created several bitcoin ATMs so that transactions can be carried out by their citizens.we really hope that with this process the adoption by the country of El Salvador could at least re-increase public confidence in bitcoin amid the bitcoin price which is still not relatively stable.of course an adaptation process like El Salvador is very necessary and hopefully other developing countries can follow suit
El Salvador is spending USD before it adopted bitcoin as a legal tender, not having the local currency of its own. I expect countries that do not have their own local currency to follow El Salvador. Some countries can be friendly on bitcoin adoption which is what that matters most. If some countries start making bitcoin a reserve, that is also part of adoption, this is what I would be glad to hear about next. If countries like Russia start accepting bitcoin for paying for oil and gases they are exporting, it is still part of adoption, but we do not know yet if this would be done by Russia, but I noticed bank of Russia hate bitcoin but Russia government have shown how they like bitcoin. What we mostly need is for countries not to ban the use of bitcoin and make their citizens to use it.
3105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: April 05, 2022, 07:28:08 AM
As expected sociedad team managed to win their home game against espanyol but they almost lost two points they only managed to score a penalty at the 96 minute but it was enough to put them in the sisxth position with 6 points away from villareal.
If Villarreal is not careful and play good, it is very possible Real Sociedad will not make the club to qualify for Europa Conference League as it will take the spot, though it is still remaining 8 matches to the end of this season, there can still be a lot of surprises but the point is getting farther which is making Villarreal to have lower chance for Europa Conference League next season.

I don't expect Barcelona to win the La Liga title because honestly the points difference is too big and I don't expect Barcelona to overcome that.

So, it's better for Barcelona to concentrate on the Europa League Trophy rather than chasing something which doesn't seem to be reachable at all. and I also do not expect Real Madrid to lose at such a point where Barcelona might have a chance to surpass them.
That is just it, Barcelona will only concentrate on winning Europa League, that is their main focus now. It is clear that Barcelona will qualify to go for Champions League next season, they can not meetup with Real Madrid in La Liga, those are never their concentration again.
3106  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Discussion Thread on: April 05, 2022, 07:17:19 AM
This one is serious o, when did that happen? Even if you did not watch the live match you can at least still watch the highlight or the complete broadcast.
Do not mind that mistake, I did not watch the match, I just knew Ghana won after it played draw with Nigeria, I have edited that and corrected it.

Lmao, funny to see the response and i had a great and good laugh from this.
Lmao, I checked your account and saw when you registered and your progress, I had a great and good laugh from this too. @Maestro75, you are not exceptional too, since 2017. Better to post what is related to NPFL rather than repeating what someone has corrected and making the part of your post not to have any useful information added.

The home clubs won or drew all matches played last, even Rivers United was unable to win Akwa United. Akwa United is not a bad club either though but I was expecting more from Rivers United.
3107  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 05, 2022, 06:52:44 AM
I also don't understand what really happened to AC Milan, they really hit a stalemate trying to attack to score goals. The total of 33 kicks they took was not a small number, but only a few that led to the goal. They were really frustrated by Bologna, indeed in football anything can happen, including when the goddess of fortune is not on our side.
There is nothing that happened to AC Milan than making the league to be competitive, though everyone was expecting the club to win, but unfortunately draw with Bologna which was not expected at all. AC Milan only had 1 point away from Napoli, Inter is having 1 awaiting match, if won, the league is more competitive among these three clubs. I wish Juventus could win, but Inter struggle to show Juventus and won, making it to stay competing with AC Milan and Napoli. I think Seria A is fun this season.
3108  Bitcoin / Wallet software / The best passphrase on: April 04, 2022, 06:30:19 PM
I have been thinking of the best way of adding a passphrase to a wallet I want to create, but I do not know the passphrase I can use that will be impossible to brute force.

What comes to my mind is by generating a seed phrase which I will use as passphrase. Open electrum wallet, the wallet to create another seed phrase for me, add a passphrase to it which is the first seed phrase another wallet created for me.

The first seed phrase is my passphrase
The second seed phrase is my seed phrase
The second seed phrase and my passphrase (first seed phrase) create private keys and addresses for me which should be safer than just using a seed phrase without passphrase.

I am think of the way to use the passphrase, which one is difficult to brute? By writing the words together and not give space in between, or by seperating the words?

This should be a secure wallet if I do not have the seed phrase backup together with the passphrase but differently. I am thinking if seed phrase with space is secure enough, it should also secure if used as passphrase?

Is there others ways to have a more secure passphrase in a way the world would have extinct before anyone can brute force it.
3109  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: April 03, 2022, 06:19:11 PM
This is probably the reason why Bitcoin broke the $44K resistance and seems like it might hit $50K in the near term. Basically people are buying bitcoins and will most likely sell when he uses the remaining $450M which is still sitting in that wallet.
Terraform Labs announced the purchasing on March 17, it would be part of the reason of the recent bull run, but also with other reasons like Ukraine war and Russia saying to sell oil possibly in bitcoin also and many other reasons combined.

If the price of a bitcoin drops significantly and the value of the reserve is less than the nominal value of the UST, then UST won't be able to maintain the peg. Suppose for example when the reserve is only 50%, then only 50% of the UST can be redeemed and the rest is worthless.
Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon said if bitcoin price crash, that it will have negative effect on UST

    https://unchainedpodcast.com/do-kwon-is-backing-ust-with-bitcoin-and-heres-what-else-he-is-building/

So let us say he believes in long term price of bitcoin.
3110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 03, 2022, 08:48:34 AM
No doubt right now both Napoli and AC Milan are in good position for winning this year's title but with current form we can say AC Milan is in good touch and hot favorite for this year's title Inter which were leaders and in good form suddenly lost their rhythm and now facing tough battle for staying at third spot which is going be more hard as after this break now they are going to face Juventus which is also in good touch and trying their best for having some better at the end of this season.

Napoli is also going to face Atlanta which is also lost their form and now struggling at sixth spot even we can't predict about any position but for me this current season is one of most exciting in Italian League with too many teams are fighting hard for their best chances.
There are still eight matches left, if 8 is multiplied by 3, that is 24 points. That points is still huge and anything can happen. Inter Milan has one awaiting match and if won, it would have the same point with Napoli, I am not sure who has the most goals. Also AC Milan is leading with just 3 points, what is the assurance that they would win the league this season. Juventus is so close too, if the three clubs above Juventus give Juventus little chance, they might lose and Juventus may win the league, but the chance this would happen is very low. But even if Juventus did not win and the winners would be AC, Napoli or Inter, we still do not know who the winner can be as they are all close in points to each other.
3111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: April 03, 2022, 08:32:20 AM
Sevilla , Atletico and Barcelona are safe there is nothing to chase their focus is only on top 4 for champions league tickets so lose or win doesn't really matter
Especially Atletico Madrid who have more important matches in UCL they could just ignore the local league to be more prepared and focused
Sevilla is having one awaiting match while Atletico that is having the same point with the club. Both clubs having 7 points more than Real Bestis which is on fifth positiom in La Liga, with Real Best not that performing good this time is another reason these two clubs may not see La Liga that competitive for them again this season, but definitely they will both still win matches very well and will not fall below first 4 this season. About Barcelona, only four points aways from Real Bestis, Barcelona still have to play very good, but they are strong team now and Real Bestis and the clubs below them are not strong like them but Barcelona should not slack at all.
3112  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: April 03, 2022, 01:16:12 AM
I've heard about it before, and I still don't get it: what's the point of using Bitcoin for a stable coin?
According to how I understood it, UST is not backed by Bitcoin nor Luna, it is not collateralized but it is an algorithmic stables coin (what I have known about some algorithmic stables coin in the past is that overbuying and overselling of the coins can make the price so volatile. (Although, not about this thread discussion).

Luna serves as UST reserve (not collateralized asset), certain amount of UST minted is burned in Luna's USD equivalent and vice versa. Bitcoin reserve is introduced to provide a further support in a way UST will maintain a stable price and reduce the pressure on Luna.

I got this useful first tweet reply from above from fillippone OP, reading from 10 which focus on why is Bitcoin used as reserve

    https://mobile.twitter.com/danku_r/status/1509173542268645377?s=21

In my no doubt limited understanding it works like this: if Bitcoin goes up, the company makes a profit. If Bitcoin goes down, they're short on money. Who would invest in this if they'll only take the risk but not the profit?
There is an onchain mechanism in a way 1 UST would sell for $0.98 worth of BTC. If UST is trading below $0.98, people would be enticed to buy from the BTC reserve. If UST is trading above the pegged price, people would be enticed to sell for profit in a way the price of UST would maintain almost a stable value as a result of market participants trading BTC for UST and vice versa to make profit.

3114  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia as the cornerstone of the world economy on: April 02, 2022, 10:17:20 AM
Without Russia, the world will live, I can say you overpraise Russia.

The war going on presently is not only between Russia and Ukraine but between Russia and the world at large.the Russian government has every country on its toes now.
The war is not between the world and Russia, the war is between US, UK, EU and Russia. But most countries in the world see Russia invasion as inappropriate.

Russia may be going through economic decline presently cause by the war.
Rouble price has been increasing back and almost up to pre-war time. Maybe the effect of the sanction can continue to increase after some years if EU do not change their decision but Russia is already negotiating with other friendly countries for the supply of exports from Russia.

Political war is not a problem to Russia but ecomical war which is presently going on with most of the countries of the world
I do not know what will happen to be earnest, we are all watching, but Russia may see negative effect of EU not importing from Russia again which may happen.
3115  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: April 02, 2022, 08:37:03 AM
The chance that Barcelona will still become champion in the competition is perhaps 1%. It also doesn't mean that they don't put any energy into the competition at all. they can still go full for 2nd place there, which is a good performance considering the dramatic first season start. The focus will be on the competition and also on the EL. Become 1nd wil not be to any satisfaction for Barcelona, but it is a good start for the next season in this shape.
I can say that you are not right about this, saying Barcelona got only 1% chance to win Europa League. Did you know that Barcelona being in Champions League before make the club not to have the chance of 1%, also Barcelona are playing good now which is another reason Barcelona is having over 50% or more percent chance to win. Among the clubs that made the to quarter final, Barcelona, Atlanta and West Ham have more chance to win the League this season. And with what I have seen, very possible Villarreal or Barcelona win the League.
3116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Emirates FA Cup - Season 2021/2022 on: April 01, 2022, 08:23:35 PM
Although many say that Cristal palace is an underdog team, and not favorites to win the FA Cup, but I think Cristal palace is a serious threat to big clubs, because Cristal palace is playing carefree, and they are doing it too. don't have a solid match, they only focus on playing in the EPL league and winning the FA cup, while other clubs have very tight matches, we believe this will be a big advantage for Cristal palace.
I wonder if Crystal Palace play with Manchester City or Liverpool, we do not have to think about the clubs that would win twice, definitely not Crystal Palace. But this is the fixture of FA cup Semi Final:

    Manchester City : Liverpool
    Chelsea : Crystal Palace

I think Chelsea will qualify for the final.
3117  Economy / Reputation / Re: Possible Merit Abuse in local board on: March 31, 2022, 08:41:35 PM
OP, actually I was just wondering how you are brave enough to say they are the same personjust by looking at the history of the merit.
Let me quote him for you to read again

Just by looking at these accounts i think there is serious merit abuse between these members in the local board
If you will notice they are mostly involved in merting each other. They could be a single person or a family.

Although, I am not saying merit is abused or not, but I just stand on the point that if any abuse is noticed, it can be reported in a new thread on reputation board.
3118  Economy / Reputation / Re: Possible Merit Abuse in local board on: March 31, 2022, 08:06:34 PM
First, there isn't any known rule or law guiding how merit should be used or sent around the forum, there isn't any rule forbidding or stating that two or more parties can not merit themselves if their posts are worthy of it, so personally, I see nothing wrong as long as their post are worthy of the merit(s) they received.
But if merit is abused, it should be posted about on reputation board so others can see it too. This forum does not against sending merit to any pos, but if merit is abused, there is nothing bad to give such accounts that abused merit to be given red trust. Seeing someone like that, nothing bad to bring it up here for discussion to know if other members will accept it true or not.
3119  Economy / Economics / Re: Pay in rubles or have your gas shut off by April on: March 31, 2022, 07:51:38 PM
Putin has threatened so called unfriendly states to pay in rubles or have its gas supply shut off. It has said it doesn't buy things for free and so isn't going to charitable with its energy.
It will only take time, Putin is not doing his country good, he can look like he is winning now but the future would tell. I wish Russians to see what Putin is getting them into.

To be honest, if European countries don't want to freeze to death then they inevitably have to obey the rules set by Putin. This step actually looks cruel but I see this is the last step from Putin to escape the sanctions imposed on Russia.
It is totally mandatory but let us see what will happen. The EU and other European countries would have been strategizing what they will do, but I lack any comment about this for now and you may be wrong.
3120  Economy / Economics / Re: china's harsh exploitation on crypto assets on: March 31, 2022, 07:20:46 PM
Gold is (or was) a big threat to the governments. That's why they left the gold standard years ago.
Exactly what I meant too, it was a big threat that is now widely acceptable all over the world. Let us be expecting this about Bitcoin too, which is already happening though, but not in China and some other countries that want full control and not thinking about the economic impact of bitcoin.

Bitcoin is (probably) a threat too. That's why the Chinese banned it. (at least that's how they see it)
Facebook is a threat to China, other social media like Twitter, Instagram are all a threats to China. That said,  also anything decentralized would be a threat to China, there is nothing that China what about this than to have a currency they can easily be control and they make digital Yuan and fully banned cryptocurrencies.
