3121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Estranged Core Developer Gavin Andresen Finally Makes Sensible 2MB BIP Proposal! on: January 29, 2016, 02:22:47 PM
The guy's trying to save BTC. I hope he will be successful but it's hard to be optimistic. He failed last year because of rats who don't want to change anything which would reduce their domination. Gavin's brave! Without him, or people like him, BTC would be dead already. What is going to happen when there will be 300,000 transactions each day? Then 500,000. I'd like to dream there's one million transactions everyday, but that's impossible at this stage. Too many miners just don't want BTC to grow.
We will never have those amounts of volume transaction without a secondary layer like Lightning Network anyway, so you are being delusional here to think that the solution to get around that problem is to keep raising the block size ad infinitium. With segregated witness we can buy enough time until LN is finally active which I hope we can see the first tests this year an release next year.
3122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Comes First: Block Size or Halving? on: January 29, 2016, 01:49:34 PM
It's a dumb decision to raise the block size now since we have Segregated Witness which effectively is the same as raising the blocksize without all the tradeoffs like the risk of hard forking itself beside node centralization problems.

We will go through the halving with 1MB block size I think.
3123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best Sport To Gamble on: January 28, 2016, 06:22:30 PM
I think beside boxing MMA is also still a very solid sport to bet at with some easy wins. You have guys like Jon "Bones" Jones absolutely dominating the light heavyweight division and it's just so easy to make moeny with that dude, just bet all in for a win and get money next day, it's that easy to be honest.
3124  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Can We Expect From 2016 in Bitcoin Gambling? on: January 28, 2016, 06:14:16 PM
I hope that we can keep continuing seeing development of skill based games like battlecoin.org and chopcoin.io, because the casino based games are way too widespread already, we need some variety. I would love more arcade games in battlecoin.org style to be adopted for Bitcoin betting. I would love a fighting arcade game, and a racing game, where you can bet against other 4 people or more.

Unfortunately battlecoin.org is not getting enough funds to continue development, so I hope the guy gets some investors interested soon.
3125  Economy / Speculation / Re: All alts going crazy, people are fed up!!!! on: January 28, 2016, 06:06:55 PM
The block size debate is already solved: We will follow with the Core capacity increases roadmap as presented on bitcoin.org website, the rest just need to learn to let smarter people do the job and shut the f*** up about it.
The ETH pump will be soon over, as is just another shitcoin. I hope people holding it sold and profited from it tho.
3126  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: January 28, 2016, 05:21:10 PM
for me, the gold for long term and bitcoin for short-term

it does not make any sense, since bitcoin is designed to be successful in the log term not in the short term, unless you're talking about day trading

He must be talking about day trading. The volatility of Bitcoin makes Bitcoin the ultimate dream asset for any day trader. Im not interested in that since I would rather just hold it through the ups and downs, but day traders love it.
3127  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain Beta Wallet ! Have You Tried? on: January 28, 2016, 04:48:48 PM
Are you talking about blockchain.info? I haven't used that site again since the latest incident where some transactions were showing up faulty. I also remember trying to log in and having almost a heart attack because my passphrase was not being recognized. Got tired and moved all my funds to Bitcoin Core and never looked back.
3128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin classic", brought up by literal crooks on: January 28, 2016, 04:45:30 PM
While I don't think that we will lose them so easily, I want to remember you that we have also lost Satoshi, and this doesn't seem that has stopped the developing of Bitcoin.

If you told me that we are getting people that HAS demonstrated already something of remarkable value like the 2 devs the poster quoted (something like CT and segwit), maybe I would consider it in a serious way, but those guys are lightyears from the Core devs and are literally saying that they want to keep living off Core's github. Those guys have no foundation whatsoever to run the full node.
3129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why IMO the focus needs to be on settlement and governments (and not on coffees) on: January 28, 2016, 04:41:40 PM
The fun fact is Bitcoin is impossible to scale globally at "coffee levels" without a secondary layer like LN. No matter how big you make the blocksize, it would never be as fast, and as efficient as LN.

Therefore, we might as well turn on-blockchain transaction into a settlement network while dealing with "coffee" type transactions through LN.
Doing this, we can defend from goverment intervention, which should be our top priority now, and not trying to be nice to them. If governments could choose, they would love that people demand "coffee-level" transactions to be all on-blockchain transactions so they can benefit from having centralized nodes to control the network. On the other hand, they would never be able to control a conservative-sized block network since this would allow for massive node decentralization.

This thing has been very clear to me for a while, but it seems a lot of people can't deal with the fact we need layers like LN to deal with massive amount of transactions and raising the blocksize 1MB up or down is just a cop out.
3130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spanish League Prediction Thread (La Liga) on: January 27, 2016, 06:53:38 PM
I think Barca will punish Athletico badly. Neymar is showcasing excellent performance, Messi is back and Suarez has stopped biting people's ears and has started scoring goals. Meanwhile in Athletico Nino Torres is not being that good but we have seen him delivering good performance against big teams like Barca before.
Overall I think Barca is the safe bet.
3131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your favourite gambling game ? on: January 27, 2016, 06:48:19 PM
since i like dice, i am always looking forward to finding a brand new dice site which is legit and in order to gather users has lower house edge than normal and also does decent giveaways. it is a nice way to get started while risking nothing and have fun at the same time.
I also sometimes played dice on certain gambling sites, but sometimes I play not use the original capital of me, but I used the money from the gieveaway which has sites  Grin

Well the money that you received from the giveaway was yours, then you gambled it.. I do the same with sig campaigns. Since they don't pay much, I just use the signature campaign money to gamble and have some fun. If it was not for the signature campaign payments, I would probably never bother with risking BTC, so it's a clear that sig campaigns are worth it specially for casinos.
3132  Economy / Gambling / Re: Need feedback about my "gambling" site. on: January 27, 2016, 06:18:21 PM
I would like an additional 5 slot machine. 3 slots machines are good for noobs, but if you want to play bigger stakes, you need more combinations, 5 slots allow for 20 lines, this is like I said before the ideal as you can win a lot of money without having to press spin a million times with smaller bets.
3133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling problem on: January 27, 2016, 06:09:50 PM
If you are using Bitcoin to gamble you can use a feature that it's at least in Bitcoin Core, where you can lock your Bitcoin for X amount of time. Doing this, you can freeze your Bitcoin savings so you aren't able to gamble.

Then again, if you are a real addict, you will probably start using fiat, and f you don't have fiat, you will start robbing in the worst cases of addiction. If you reach that point, you need professional help.
3134  Economy / Gambling / Re: Can Bitcoin bring back arcades? on: January 27, 2016, 05:50:25 PM
I'm not a kid anymore, so I wouldn't go out of my way to play video games in an arcade--I don't even do it at home anymore.  But I think it's a great idea for those who would.  My feeling though is that arcades are pretty much dead, and getting the machines set up for bitcoin would just be lost money.  Arcades don't thrive anymore and for good reason.  People play games on their phones and at home.  Why waste money traveling to an arcade?  I don't think the social, get-together aspect would be compelling enough.

There are arcade saloons that have been a success for years, look at Funspot for example. I think there is still a niche, and as Bitcoin evolves and we can do instant transactions, it will be able to get arcades running for small amount of Bitcoin.
And again, a selling point is for the social aspect. The experience is not the same playing in your phone than playing in a joystick with a friend as people is around watching you play, it's a nice feeling that you can't get playing at home.

3135  Economy / Speculation / Re: Everyone is hyping about bitcoin price in 2016 on: January 27, 2016, 05:22:19 PM
It's always good to see this video to get some perspective going:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbZ8zDpX2Mg

As you can see, in the long run, the price that you get in becomes almost irrelevant. You can buy now, and it's 99.99% guaranteed that a year from now the price will be higher. Therefore, if you are here long term, it's a big waste of time trying to look for a perfect price to get in, just get in now without thinking about it too much would be my advice to anyone still not holding any coins which I hope is the minority at this point.
3136  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Satoshi's percentage of BTC a serious problem for government acceptance? on: January 27, 2016, 05:14:58 PM
How much money satoshi owns I think it's irrelevant. In the long term, it's impossible that the governments are going to remain neutral or even "nice" towards Bitcoin. As soon as Bitcoin starts being relevant in the big picture (right now 6 billion dollars is nothing) they will attack, Bitcoin distribution being irrelevant. What they are not going to allow is to see how Bitcoin grows while fiat crashes. So let's get ready for the attack is all im saying, and best we can do to be ready is keep supporting Core devs, we need stability.
3137  Economy / Gambling / Can Bitcoin bring back arcades? on: January 26, 2016, 05:24:34 PM
I talked about starting a casino business with physical Bitcoin machines, but I think what would be even cooler is machines that run on Bitcoin where you can play all the classic games. I think the social element is very strong and it's what made arcade saloons so great, this is lost with modern gaming consoles and computers where people play at home.

Arcades lost the battle against the computers and consoles because the hardware was getting better in consoles and computers. Also, the price was getting really high.

So if we can bring back super cheap arcades I think people might come back for the social aspect and also because you play with nice joysticks and not some boring keyboard or gamepad.

As you see there are some prototypes already. So imagine a gambling saloon, that also has a lot of machines where you can pay a micro fee and play some games. In the future Lightning Network will allow for cheap and instant transactions with super high volume. I think this will be the start of the revolution if we can make it into the mainstream level of Bitcoin usage.
3138  Economy / Gambling / Re: You ask how to win - did you know how to push your luck ? on: January 26, 2016, 05:02:17 PM
After playing for some time, you develop some sort of sixth sense that will allow you know when you are starting to push it to far, you start feeling like an idiot because you know you are about to lose all of your money. When this pressing sense is activated you have to stop playing immediately, otherwise you'll lose. Of course the jackpot could always be 1 spin/roll away, but it's better to be safe and run with gains.
3139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your favourite gambling game ? on: January 26, 2016, 04:58:59 PM
well if the faucer is only 100 satoshi then it is not too big in my opinion so theres no reason to turn it off, also i will try out your game in my free time hopefully it will be worth my time and money
lol using a faucet for gambling capital. just spend time. if you win a lot of results faucet, probably only about 10k satoshi,
I better not gamble, rather than utilizing the faucet to play Tongue
a waste of time
Some sites have an added faucet so while you are playing, you are also farming in the faucet at the same time, which is cool since it's just time you are spent making some BTC even if it's a small amount of satoshi, then you can claim this and keep gambling with that. The site I just tested (faucetgame.com) does exactly this. It's a cool concept for newbies that don't have BTC and don't want to play with fake credits.
3140  Economy / Gambling / Re: Need feedback about my "gambling" site. on: January 26, 2016, 04:53:35 PM
I have tried it, the layout seems decent. Are those credits just fake money, or actual BTC? I've got 100 when I entered. I would also like to know if there is a way to make bigget bets in the slot machine. Look at the slot machine in bitcoinvideocasino.com for example, they let you bet higher amounts, I usually run 20 lines when im feeling lucky.
