3121  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: August 21, 2021, 01:33:31 PM
it's hard to adjust on their end and it's losing them a lot of money just like last year.

Yes, and it will have a bad effect on the league in the long run if delays will continue because of the pandemic.

Take note that even before the pandemic, the league's revenue isn't that much (although in 2019 iirc, the league noticed an increase) and the number of audience on the venue just increasing in numbers if Brgy. Ginebra or any other SMC teams will reach the Semis to Finals. They can only achieve at least 17,000 audiences during only in Finals that's why there's always a rumor of "bigayan" to extend games to the maximum for more revenue.

I hope PBA can still manage the cost by 5 seasons or more, or maybe much better, I hope the pandemic will now end.
Yeah, those times whenever the finals is with Brgy. Ginebra, the fans were always there and the coliseum is always full and tickets were sold out.  But right now, I think they have another scheme or plan to prolong some games so that ad revenue will still be there and it is needed because they've been losing instead and they have to do everything so that they'll recover as well. They've got a lot of players and venue is another thing for the sustain and expense that they have to add for their budgeting and adjustment. I just hope that everything goes well.

We don't need to wait for a long period of time before we can see the game in the arena, eventually, the crowd will be allowed in the game just like the NBA. What the Philippine government has to do now is to fast track the vaccination so we can proceed forward, if other countries can bring back the old normal in sports, why can't we?
3122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is this another Ethereum season on: August 21, 2021, 12:48:39 PM
for ethereum is currently approaching resistance, which usually before continuing the uptrend will experience a correction first, due to the actions of traders who take profits. so we have to be careful in dealing with it. I think eth and btc will be the favorite choice of investors to make a profit
The correction won't be too big and it won't be too long either because coins like ETH always stay at a good price if BTC doesn't experience a deep correction and there's always a lot of interest in trading on a daily and long-term basis.
at least if there is a correction, we can take orders in the golden area of Fibonacci, which is between 38 - 61. Usually for a bullish trend like today, this area is used as a reversal area. therefore I don't think there is anything to worry about with this altcoin, especially for long-term investments, a right choice

Altcoins is a big market, we can't just invest on any altcoins that we like without making deep research, with the huge number of scams, we will literally lose a lot of money if we don't put an effort and we just follow the hype coming from the popular shills in the market like Musk.

Altcoin season is here, and bitcoin continues to be bullish, though it has drop lower from its ATH, the price is still bullish considering it dip at $28k this year.
3123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 21, 2021, 12:09:23 PM
Next year, his time will be devoted to politics, so no time to train in boxing and if he wins, we know what to expect about his journey in boxing.

It's time for him to say goodbye, but not too early, lol... I have a feeling that even how popular he is in the Philippines, he would not win in the election and boxing fans would not allow that as they want him to continue fighting to bring glory to the country through boxing.
Lol he is already a Successful Senator of the Philippines so how come that he will not Win when he already does several time from Congressman to Senatorial position.
and also Filipino are not short minded people mate, they will vote because of His performance being politician and not because he is a Boxing legend.

It's hard to debate on politics as we have our own opinion, successful for others does not mean it's successful to you or to us.. For me, Pacquiao does not have enough knowledge and qualifications to be in a higher office, and as a senator now, I have not even seen him so active in the Senate. IMO, he only wins because he is popular in boxing, unlike our current president which won because of his good performance when he was still a Mayor.
3124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are the bulls back? on: August 20, 2021, 09:55:58 PM
That's just not to get bored when someone starts to face market situations every day, because real work is also very much needed to fulfill every need in life and also for every step that we have prepared carefully, because without a strong support in real life, someone will it is very difficult to deal with every problem or situation of the cryptocurrency market.
Everyone has to get a real job or any other sustainable business or work so that you won't be badly affected when the market crashes.

It's the purpose of why people are having getting real jobs despite they're also earning good with cryptocurrencies and with their investments. But that's for the sake of another plan and if ever this volatile market crashes, you can still have your sustainability not compromised.

It's okay to focus on crypto if you are a full-time trader, even if the market will crash, it will not affect you if you make a good decision because market volatility is still here, it will only affect those investors who just invest and aim for a higher price. Well, as for me, I don't rely in crypto a lot, I have a business and I do crypto trading at the same time.
3125  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casimero vs Rigondeaux this August 14, 2021 on: August 20, 2021, 09:34:39 PM
Donaire does not throw a lot of punches, he is just looking for good timing to counter and if he hurt his opponent, that's when he attacks aggressively. We saw Inoue struggled in the first few rounds of their fight, but he adjusted, and eventually, Donaire was gas out as he cannot take down an opponent that he usually does when he hit them with clean shots.

I agree with this ^^. That is why Casimero has the edge IMO if the two will meet in the ring soon because Casimero throws more punches than him and is a little bit quicker and can take hard punches too, have seen that many times in his career. I have observed also that most of the opponents that Donaire KOed were smaller than him like Montiel and Arce and he is having a hard time with opponents bigger or who have the same physic as him.

Yes, that's true, I hear a lot of Donaire's interview and he always emphasized that timing is the key to his victory. We have seen it throughout his careers defining knockout, Montiel, Darchy and Arce. But he can banged as well. I forgot the name of the rugged Mexican opponent of his, he gave everything Donaire can handle, even busted Donaire's both eyes, but Donaire survived that fight. It has the same physic or even bigger than Donaire.

Donaire does not look strong if we look at his body, but he only got KO once in his career and that is when he tries to go up in weight against the "Axe Man" Nicholas Walters. His other losses are from the decision and usually, he loses in UD since he does not throw a lot of punches.
3126  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 20, 2021, 09:03:06 PM
Where did you see these odds? In principle, they look very attractive, especially in the first rounds, because the likelihood that Pacquiao will crush an opponent in the first rounds is high. If Ugas can survive until the middle of the fight, then it will be easier for him, since Pacquiao's age will make itself felt. Perhaps by the end of the fight he will even have chances.

It's available in sportsbet and stakes.com, and probably other sites too.

https://stake.com/sports/boxing/international/international-matchups/42120308-magsayo-mark-ceja-julio

Unfornately he is the favorite.  Tongue

Thanks. I wonder why Pacquiao's chances of ending the fight early grow so significantly towards the end of the fight? I thought that his advantage over Ugas would be most pronounced at the beginning of the battle and if Ugas is able to survive in the first rounds then he will have fewer problems later. But bookmakers rate it the other way around.

I can only see a unanimous decision by Manny Pacquiao if he will not be able to end the fight early. Ugas is slow, maybe slower than Spence, so it's not hard for Manny Pacquiao to connect punches that would make him ahead in the scoreboards, of course, it would be a boring fight if we will not see trading of punches, but it is what it is, Manny's just too fast for Ugas.

Since this is still a championship fight, people would continue to be impressed by Manny if he wins this fight, another topic about his age and how he was able to maintain his power and speed.

We know how good Manny is, but it's also up to his opponent if he will engage in the fight like a toe to toe fight so his fight will be entertaining if indeed it will be the last fight of Manny. Next year, his time will be devoted to politics, so no time to train in boxing and if he wins, we know what to expect about his journey in boxing.

It's the people surrounding me, way back, I am not aware of online gambling but I really started at a minor age, playing card games then eventually when I have a chance to gamble on sports I found a platform that I could deposit money to gamble, but that time I'm already an adult but I would not be interested in gambling if not because of my childhood experience.
3128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DENT BACK TO THE TOP 100 COIN!!! on: August 20, 2021, 08:30:01 PM
dent has not updated with new technologies likes nft defi project, and it has become old coin btw investors looking in new up trend coin, btw dent is still much better potential coin from meme coins (doge, shiba inu, safe moon),

We don't compare it to meme coin as DENT has a great future plan and it will create adoption. Meme coins just pump because of the hype by Elon, without Elon, they are nothing, so we should know which coin to invest in for the long term and which coin is good to play for the short term.

even dent provided a few services in telecom company, i got benefited with their services.

3129  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 20, 2021, 03:21:41 PM
Going with the one or two big odds really worth the rewards if we are going to win the game because accumulation of small odds will also eventually accumulate the risk and for the total risk we get the snall rewards compared to if we win the big odd games.
But a win does not come easy, if it's easy to win that by accumulating small odds, everyone is using the same strategy already. Small odds mean a higher chance of winning, but this is gambling, even at 1.10 which it's already considered a high chance of winning, a bet can still lose.

Based on my experience, betting on small odds is not really a good idea as eventually, you'll lose your bankroll especially if you are not good with your bankroll management.
3130  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Casimero Bantamweight Unification Fight on: August 20, 2021, 02:52:09 PM
It is also possible that Arum realizes that Casimero is really a dangerous opponent for Inoue that might derail his plan for the kid  Smiley.

Maybe this big break give him a peace of mind to realize that casimero is no joke, Inoue's got a very good ranking and it might be destroyed by Casimero, he is thinking of his possible future cash cow, lol... if Inoue will be beaten, his face value will drop, meaning less money for Arum.  Grin

Hahaha. Possible, we all know how Arum works, as an experienced boxing manager we all know how he cherry picks his opponent against his cash cow. So this angle could be true, Casimero a live dog and possible to pull an upset against the so called monster from Japan.

So wise move for him, we might see them square off in the future though as long as Casimero will continue his winning wins defend his belt against good opponents and definitely it will still make a lot of money for both of them and make sense for Arum to set it up.

I don't see anyone who could match a prime Casimero right now, it's only either Casimero or Donaire, but they have not signed the contract yet. Casimero's goal is to be the reigning champion in his decision and I hope there's a rule from the boxing organization to force a boxer to unify their belt.
3131  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Inoue vs Donaire II discussion on: August 19, 2021, 09:24:44 PM

Inoue is irked on Casimero's antics hehe, watch the post fight interview of Casimero last weekend and you will see why Inoue wanted this fight to happen and punish Casimero for all of his antics thrown to the latter.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7L7ldWijPA

I've search the video and you will be amused if you are a Casimero fan but annoyed if you are a hater lol.

I just don't know if what fight could be build up this year with these three fighters involve.

the rumours are saying that in real life casimero is really a good person but maybe to hype up his fights, he is resorting to some naughty tactics. we can't judge a person by what he portrays because sometimes the media will also hype it. but it is working, and now, it seems inoue is after him rather than on donaire.
if they can build a good following for inoue vs casimero, we may really see this fight to happen before the end of this year.

I also hear he is good in person but I don't care about their personal life, as a fan I want to see them fight and win. Casimero is the only trash-talker boxer in the Philippines, whoever made him be one, I salute because it's very effective. He is the "Angas ng Pinas", lol..  for Filipinos, we know what that means, and he is literally is.

How about some crazy bet?

Pacquiao and round 1 x70
Pacquiao and round 2 x 50
Pacquiao and round 3 x35

I'm thinking of putting a bet like $20 per bet... what do you think about this crazy bet, is it a good investment for Pacquiao?

Where did you see these odds? In principle, they look very attractive, especially in the first rounds, because the likelihood that Pacquiao will crush an opponent in the first rounds is high. 3133  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Taxes on gambling send the right message? on: August 19, 2021, 08:50:29 PM
For sure it would be  in over all revenue and wouldnt matter if its a losing or winning bet because it is just  too nonsense or would  really be a big work to be done if they would one it individually.
Just like on how traditional business would be taxed out where it would always matter in overall revenue.I havent seen that gamblers been taxed individually but rather the house itself
will really be setting some House edge change or something like that and we know that gambling business is really a profitable one and really sustainable.
Taxation is normal though.

I never placed any bets in local casinos but from what I have heard about those casinos is that Cops go there every now and then to collect their bribes from the casino.
And I haven't heard about any percent of the profit they collect per individual but I'm sure it's pretty hard to keep the record of every bet with the gambler.
We will never know how much they'll collect as what they are doing is illegal, it's against the law so they'll never make it public.

The house that the casino has is 4%.

Do you mean the house edge? I think 4% is too high, no gambler would survive in that high house edge in the long run, if I play a game with that kind of house edge, I would just convince myself that I'm just having fun to lose.
3134  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: {Boxing} Manny Pacquiao vs Yordenis Ugas on: August 19, 2021, 08:30:27 PM
I don't know about anyone else, but I've gotten pretty tried of seeing all the same guys fight over and over again.  I really miss the days where we had the big heavyweights ..Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Foreman etc.  It seems like the heavyweight field has just completely fallen off of and it's been the lightweight guys who've taken over the sport.  The question I keep asking myself is why?

We also have heavyweights though, Fury and AJ will fight in the future and it will be the biggest fight in the heavyweight division. Time changes, just like other sports it evolves so let's accept what is happening now and enjoy it. Personally, I grew know hearing the name Mike Tyson as the best in boxing, but eventually, I learn that there are other divisions in boxing when I started following Pacquiao.

Are we are overreacting?  Grin

It's not new to us, we even see a lot of bigger dump than that we are seeing now, so it's just a matter of familiarity to the market and trust that the market will recover again. Bitcoin just falls 3.57% in the past 7 days, so it's not really a bad thing as it could sometimes pump more than 10% in just one day.

It's a normal day for us.
3136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casimero vs Rigondeaux this August 14, 2021 on: August 18, 2021, 08:34:46 PM
Donaire is already in His late years meaning improvements are far from happening if he will be facing Inoue as the japanese boxer is too young and has a lot of future while Nonito is nearing retirement .
although you have a point that he is already old and would probably have a hard improving but seeing his recent performance I'd say he has improved a lot and have a chance of winning against Inoue. but then again this is just my opinion.

Donaire had some trouble with fighters who move well on the floor, just like what we saw in his fight against Rigo and Inoue, he loses in the fight. We were just hype because he KO an opponent which not really at par with Inoue and Rigo, but still this rematch is quite interesting so let's see if this time he will shock the world or maybe he will not be able to survive anymore.
Power is just one on taking down on an opponent but that wont really be that effective if the opponent is way too moving or really have some good footwork and who do know on how to move.

I had that kind of observation too when it comes on how they do move well and he had really some hard time on taking effective heavy blows or counter punches.
Each boxer does have their own style and Rigo is included into those who do really love running.  Cheesy

Pat Beverly to be traded again, this time to Timberwolves, second time in as many days that Pat has moved.

https://twitter.com/wojespn/status/1427646798089359361

Yeah, he could play PG for the Wolves and he said via his twitter that he is happy with the trade. Wolves is a young team and Pat will be a good match because of his experience and his tenacity.

Hope to see him happy when he already playing with the Wolves,

That team was already a good contender back then, when they still have Wiggins, KAT, DRose and Butler. But they did not maintain that squad instead, they trade those stars to another team and until now, the process of bringing good role players to work with KAT still unsuccessful. Maybe Pat may add some good spice for them.

KAT's talent can be used somewhere, he can win a championship if he leaves Minnesota Timberwolves. It's not yet late for him though, just like Kevin Love back then, he was averaging a double-double but the team is unsuccessful, however, when he transferred to the Cleveland Cavaliers, that's where he got his championship.
3138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: August 17, 2021, 09:52:08 PM
Hmmm ... to be honest, I can't seriously take the idea that in a country with very tough tax laws, where you can easily be jailed for tax evasion, someone does something like that. I think the discussed figures are very close to reality, even if there are some inaccuracies. Of course, there is always a black market, but we are talking about legal business, so we can ignore it.

That's happening mostly in countries where regulators are corrupt, the company does not pay the right taxes and when they are audited and found out the tax deficiencies, they will just settle with the auditors and pay them to settle the problem between them, so the government will not make the right revenue here because it goes to the pockets of the corrupt tax regulators.

Sure. This is constantly happening in undeveloped countries - the most profitable sectors of the economy (where much intelligence is not needed) are controlled by corrupt officials and it is difficult to find real numbers there, since everything is hidden. But in this particular case, the conversation was about the United States, so such small (relatively) numbers surprised me. However, I tend to trust them because in the USA it is quite dangerous to joke with the law.

Tax evasion is a serious case, the USA is strictly implementing the law that's why they benefited from the taxes they will get from casinos, and they should be an example of other countries if they want to fully maximize the revenue of taxes, it actually starts with the strict implementation of the law, this corrupt officials, however, are not afraid of the law because they know they can also pay people to keep them doing their corrupt business. What's worse is if everyone is coordinated in making corrupt practices, so it will result in a country going down and the poor will struggle more.

When we say corruption, it does not happen in a certain industry only, it could happen to all so the effect is really huge.
3139  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Economic Costs of Gambling on: August 17, 2021, 08:39:11 PM
An interesting article, thank you, it's a pity that there is no information on the profitability of this business or, roughly speaking, about the total turnover of money. In fact, the figure of 44 billion looks suspicious to me, while individual firms began to exceed a trillion dollars in capitalization, the whole industry here generates only a few tens of billions of profits?  Undecided

For businesses to be more profitable, they will not declare everything their earn, the data is only based on the amount declared but in reality, they are making more than they declared. However, it's just speculation in our mind since we have no evidence, but as a mature person who is in business as well, I know how accountant does to make the business minimize the tax responsibility, and that is by reducing income and increasing expenses per record.

Hmmm ... to be honest, I can't seriously take the idea that in a country with very tough tax laws, where you can easily be jailed for tax evasion, someone does something like that. I think the discussed figures are very close to reality, even if there are some inaccuracies. Of course, there is always a black market, but we are talking about legal business, so we can ignore it.

3140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 NBA Season on: August 17, 2021, 08:20:30 PM
Marcus Smart has found an economic agreement with the Boston Celtics to continue his adventure in Massachusetts. The guard has signed a four-year extension worth $77.1 million in total, a contract fully guaranteed for its entire duration.
He'll stay in Boston along with stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown to try to bring the Celtics back to the top of the Eastern Conference. IMO, his defensive approach and grit shown in NBA have made him one of the favorite players of Celtics fans who'll be happy to see him in green until 2026.
Wow. $77 million and is not even branded as one of the great players in the league.
It's like an appreciative contract because of his leadership whenever they play. For me, he is like the Draymond Green of the Celtics team.
That's a good comparison, right? Both rely on hard work on the defensive side and it had been effective.
This is a good deal and I think both ends win. Marcus Smart is happy and so are the Celtics fans and management.
The great stars are now getting 400+ million dollar salaries, on average players make about 40+ million dollars, Damians even have 50+ on his last year if I am not wrong. So, 77 million over 4 years is basically nothing. Of course it is still a lot of money for all of us, there are taxes and costs like agents and so forth which makes it more like 6 million a year for him at best, but that is still more money than most people will ever see in their lives. It is still not at a brand name level of payment though, very soon players at the top will start to make that yearly, let alone in 4 years.

So long story short we have ourselves a role player money here, Marcus smart got money that he truly deserved, he was a 77 million in 4 years type of guy and he got that, every role player that is 6th or 7th man gets that kind of cash these days unless you are Nets and you are out of money after 3 stars Cheesy.

IMO, the amount is small compared to what other players are getting, if Dennis Schröder did not accept the $80 million deal for the year number of years, I think Marcus Smart is worth more than Dennis Schröder's expectation of himself. Anyways, that's still big money though, he is happy playing with his current team, that's what matters most.
