3141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: April 15, 2014, 08:19:41 PM
how can buy NEM stake? Is the pre-genesis exchange described by utopia out yet?

You can't. the IPO and the waitinglist is over. You could convice someone to sell you his BTT-account with a stake. But I see so many ways how this could go wrong.

Just wait for the launch.

Why are two exchanges not enough for the moment?

Because they are very small and mostly known by folks that know NXT. If we want the mainstream people to join, than either bter or cryptsy is a must.

Yes, bter is a must to attract Chinese investors. All the coins have gained a lot in number of investors and in price after listing on bter.

I just bought 1 million NAS @ 17 satoshis. Welcome me.

Exactely this is the reasoning behind this. Most initial stakeholders seem to be chinese, I doubt they want to use an american exchange to trade. Bter is very nice because they will likely add a NAS/CNY market also.

Also welcome on board!!!

Also the trading and withdrawal feel are too high in dgex. Have you contacted bter yet?

Yes. 1% and 0.15% is high in the longterm!

I did, and many others did too, but everyone should write them!

PLEASE submit a request to BTER to add NAS:

http://support.bter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

3153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NAS the latest GREEDY/PONZI distribution model - 71% to 11 people?? what? on: April 15, 2014, 07:07:21 PM
I'm not against full pos given out to people, however just need to give it out to more than 11 people. Can't be that hard to get some method of distribution that does way better than that.

The current giveaway nas is running to give out some tiny scraps to the entire board does not look too bad.

Perhaps if they had done that from the start with 90% of the minting and kept 10% for ipo could have had a chance of surviving. Now it will just die as soon as a clone pops up that does a better job of distributing the coins.

The top people only hold 38,55% now. It gets much better every day. But I agree that a new clone that has a competitive distribution would likely overtake NAS very fast.

Also I talked to the stakeholders and most (of the 10 I am in contact) said that they will donate more to the giveaway once it runs out. So we can likely reach 5000-10000 people and they will also distribute through exchanges, even though I know that you think that this is a bad way of distributing. I can't change that.

I thought for a second this was a coin that was being endorsed by NAS because he just happens to be doing an AMA on reddit right now.  Grin

I'm still waiting for the coin with a real big mainstream celebrity endorsement.  That will be fucking money.

Haha that would be cool though.

Obama coin with endorsement. or Popecoin

3158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Very Important Announcement on: April 15, 2014, 05:51:13 PM
Due, to the fact that we have a lot of complains on the so called "sockpuppets", we announce a change to the member fee! From today the Member fee is raised to 0.03BTC for users with activity => 30! And 0.05 for those with the activity < 30. To protect the integrity of the coin, this matter is absolutely necessary. After making a small study we discovered that by increasing the fee for the under required activity members we will discourage those who intend to create multiple accounts! Also we will increase the interest of people with high activity that will increase our community's potential.

This is one of the measures that will be used agains people who try to outsmart the system. Hope to get feedback, support and a positive reaction to the made decision.

Good decision. But don't raise it further after this. Otherwise people will talk about greed of developers. We don't want this image here.

Thx!

22.1 btc

I have tried 64 combinations. I need some password cracking software to push the boat a bit further out.

That is quite some stash there. Well I'd do it by hand until I was sure i tryed everything. But there are some guys here that can do it with scrypts, you may need to contact them so that they can setup the python scrypts for you!
3160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Encrypted wallet.dat, lost password, any solutions? on: April 15, 2014, 05:44:16 PM
snip

The fact that it's so easy to lose your money is a significant hindrance to adoption.  If we can't come up with a better way to solve this problem then Bitcoin will be stuck in a niche: it's too difficult for most people to handle.  You call yourself FiatKiller...  If that's really your goal then this isn't just a big deal, it's the whole game.  Even if you're just an investor then widespread utility and public confidence will give you far more benefit than you'll see from a small reduction in the money supply.

I haven't heard back from the OP but I hope he recovered his wallet.  Otherwise he's just another statistic, and that's not good for any of us.

My mom is in the same position as OP. Mine are safely in cold storage/paper wallet. Wanted to do the same for my mom who bought a long time ago, but we can't move them from her QT because the password she wrote down is ambiguous. Some things looks like they could be 1s or ls or Is etc. Hope you respond to my PM asking for help.

Thanks

try some quick and dirty things:

activate capslock and enter the password.
switch to another keyboard layout and enter the password (en -> de for example)

Thank you. I did try this to no avail. I wish bitcoin-qt had an option to "show password" as many people have said.

Hmm. For exactely this reason, I am only using Keepass 2 and copy paste everything directly out of the database. So this can never happen again. Must be so horrible to have this happen to oneself Sad

It happened to my mom too which makes it worse Sad I didn't want to take responsibility for them. She made a super long complicated password, wrote it down, and a year later we come back to look at it and it has 2 symbols that are either a "t" or an "r" a symbol that is either a "6" or a "b" a third symbol which is either a "1" a "I" or a "l" and an "!" which might be ".'"

Ugh

Well so there shoudln't be so many combinations. 1000 maybe (if everything else is correct). How much funds were in the database?
