Singapore's Central Bank Plans to Regulate Bitcoin Payments

The minister for the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the nation's central banking authority, has said the institution is working to create a regulatory framework for bitcoin payments.

In response to a question on the matter from an MP, Tharman Shanmugaratnam – who is also deputy prime minister of Singapore – confirmed that while the MAS "has been monitoring" cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether, it has no intention of regulating them. However, certain peripheral activities will require a legal framework, he said.

https://www.coindesk.com/singapores-central-bank-plans-to-regulate-bitcoin-payments/

Singapore is joining the guessing game Smiley
it was Russia,India and many others first who are either banning or legalising cryptocurrencies every other week
with contradictory statements coming from different branches of the goverments
but if you have to choose,my money would be on Central banks as they are the ones who are dictating the countrie's policies
3162  Economy / Gambling / Re: looks like bitkong site is secretly mining on users machine - (Browsermining) !! on: October 08, 2017, 08:59:25 PM
Just checked my browser mining capacity and what I can mine is just 2 cents worth of monero per day, lets multiply this by 1000 users at a time which will be like $20 per day considering site will have 1000 users+ online at any given time.

I don't think this is worth for bitkong because they are earning way higher than this little amount per day just from their games. I think site is using so high amount of CPU because they have really heavy graphics in their site.

Whats for they use other people to mine?mean while they can get easy money just from opening gambling site. This is does not add up, more over if their people online not even up to 100. I think they never do this, just higher usage of cpu does not mean they have mine from your computer or laptop. This is because of their merely high graphic here or may be some of their design really cost a lot of usage

they don't mine, their owner was in this thread
Bitkong is a respected gambling site,so they would not try anything of sorts
its not Showtime (just jidding),yeah their site is not optimised properly and too heavy on grpahics, imho
but this is not because of the shady mining scripts at all
But what can you say on eating up 90% of CPU process? No matter how big the graphics it is it wont really consume up that big. I cant say that they would do shady thing knowing bitkong is a reputable gambling site and doing shady thing would really destroy their credibility maybe op did open some applications which would cause up for its cpu process to be that high.

it doesn't reach 90% on my machine,it is a heavy and unoptimised site, yes
it does have excessive graphics and music
but it doesn't use this browsermining code, period
I'm not sure why would they first place for the reasons stated above
it is simple logics and not every site owner is greedy and stupid
3163  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin gambling tax issues in the UK on: October 08, 2017, 04:43:10 PM
Hey,

Does anyone here have any experience relating to bitcoin gambling and taxation in the UK? Have just received a letter saying that I'm being investigated for supposedly 'running an online business'. All the money being moved in and out of my bank account has been done through bitcoin gambling, no significant trading or anything of the sort but I'm not sure how I can prove all of this to HMRC as effectively all I have is my bitcoin wallet's transactions.

Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

you are being investigated due to suspicious activity and moving large (supposedly) sums of money in an out
have you been using online exchangers bitcoin to cash?
you must have been converting bitcoins to fiat by some means, you can provide this as proof, but the legislation in the UK doesn't recognise bitcoins
so the consequences could be real bad, terrrorism connection and all the bs that comes with this, since you cannot prove the source of the money
banks, usually, have red flags if there is a sum over a certain threshold that comes to your account and they start to trace the money
if they cannot...well,you can be in trouble
I suggest you read the laws in regards of online income, cryptocurrencies and online businesses
if the sums in question are big enough,I would hire a lawyer
if not,and the account is not frozen-withdraw money
3164  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 7 People arrested for Bitcoin Trading on: October 08, 2017, 02:57:48 PM
this time its Nepal,huh
there was a piece of news about same event in Russia, people have been arrested for
running an exchange, here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX9tjFmaTdM
I think this has more to do with the money laundering and illegal financial operations
rather than bitcoins per se,they are not prohibited in Nepal as far as I know?
3165  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Have people been forced to pay tax over Bitcoin yet? on: October 08, 2017, 02:34:55 PM
depends on a country in question,I'm pretty sure in the US people declare their income
even if it comes from bitcoin trading or investing bitcoins, many prefer to be on a safe side
and are trying to pay taxes or at least enquire how to do so-check the topics like "Do I have to pay taxes over bitcoin",yes just like yours Smiley
most of them are coming from the US citizens
unfortunately, even in states, bitcoin is  agrey area and you should consult a lawyer as to what laws in your particular state are saying about it
if there are no laws regarding bitcoins, people cannot be forced to pay tax
easy as that
3166  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | Most Popular & Trusted | 109 BTC Jackpot! on: October 08, 2017, 02:08:49 PM
Thanks for explanation, my bet was x2,538, I got 16 losses in row and it eat all ballance. I looked through  topic and had seen bunch of positive comments concerning the Prime Dice .... so I tried, and ..... my experience bring to result wich was described above. Just wondering all those peaple who leave positive comments .... did they get any profit from Dicing or...?

If I'm not mistaken and I remember correctly the course of probability and statistics of the university.

The probability of failing 16 times in a row a winning configuration at 2.583x (39.01% win chance) is calculated as:

probability of losing a single bet = 100% - 39.01% (win chance) = 60.99% = 0.6099

probability of losing 16 bets in a row is given by the product of the probabilies of the single events = 0.6099 * 0.6099 * ... * 0.6099 = ( 0.6099 ) ^ 16 = 0.000366554 = 0.03665 %

So the loss streak of 16 times at 2.583x looks "quite rare", 0.03665%, but this may be said if you play, let's say, 10-100 streaks.

If you keep the bot running so much time so that you end up playing ~10'000 streaks (not talking about single bets here, ma completed winning streaks), the event of a 16 losses streak in a row starts becoming more and more to be expected, because as we all'know, given the more long time all the possibile events will occur.

the loss streak of 16 times at 2.583x  is 0.04379877% according to my math
this 100/0.04379877%=2283 so you have 100% chance to lose in 2283 bets or so
th streak can come sooner or later, but if you run your bot for a long time it is bound to hit you
its the most common gambler's fallacy, they are thinking "I cannot be getting 16! losses in a row! no way!"
but you cannot cheat math, you can noly increase your bank and pray that nasty losing streak is somewhere very very far down the seed

Treasure Chest Bonus Update.

The bonus was abused, so we had to change it a bit. We've discussed those changes in chat and we agreed to this:

1) You are required to have at least level 4 to get it.
2) If results are good (to the site) we are going to slowly increase the reward for users.

The update was implemented effective immediately.

Regards,
Alex

yet another site cutting bonuses and faucets
primedice,stake,crypto-games now bitdice-all are either halving faucets or removing bonuses
shifting from getting new memebers and retaining the old to saving money spent on freebies

level four is what? 5 bitcoins wagered?

Will you handle the potentially upcoming fork in November in the
same way that you handled the Bitcoin Cash fork?

It would be great to know your stance on this in advance.

There is coming another fork??

yes there is another fork coming coming November
there will be an announcement in the topic regarding this and probably
a blog post here: https://blog.bitvest.io/
although the blog has not been updated for quite a while,so keep your eyes on this topic for updates

i recently played the hi.lo , blackjack and bacarat game in your website and i enjoyed it a lot gambling my money even though i lose some of my bitcoin. Are you planning to add alt coins in your deposit ?
This has been asked already and yes altcoins will be added later on. ETH and some other popular altcoin will be on stake. Smiley
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2072589.msg21399929#msg21399929

I am actually surprised that they agreed to add alts. Most of these old time gambling sites (like PD) have just been BTC and BTC only.

I am even surprised that many sites didn't even list BCASH or at least list it as an option to withdraw, since its pretty much the exact same coin with a few small changes. Aside from the huge blockchain, it doesn't take much resources to add it.

Ethereum and ZEC, are completely different and those require alot of programming and testing, so I am not surprised those aren't listed. But BCASH should be a given. Since many BTC holders also hold BCASH and their blockchain is empty.

alts addition is always good,if the site can manage the nuissances that come with that i.e. separate databases, wallets, stats, support for each coins
some like to play with doge because it is cheap and you can test any strat you want without a risk of busting a lot of money, litecoins have one of the fastest confirmations
every altcoin has its own perks and there always a whale or two with a humongous stash of coins that is buring his pocket Smiley

so,expect yet another rant from Dimon regarding this
I imagine he will be very infuriated this time, seeing his direct competitors declare support for the things he claims to be
borderline criminal and scamlike
and yeah Goldman Sachs are not stupid, they see the perspective, although they  did predict a huge dump in price, creating
additional pressure on the market, remember, the 3000$ low a couple of weeks ago?
they said the price could fall to 2000$ mark and lower, buying like mad meanwhile, apparently
in any case, this is great news for bitcoin, more and more top players declare support for bitcoin
who is next? Google? Amazon? (not)
3173  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-05] Federation Council of Russia; Digital money meeting on: October 05, 2017, 06:46:30 PM
when I hear news from Russia regarding cryptocurrency regulation I feel like it is some sort of a series
with plot twists, betrayals, lies and false promises, hopefully no deaths
every week or so Russia is either legalising it completely(well according to the news)
or banning cryptocurrencies  with  200 years of prison sentences for those who caught trading or holding  Grin
should wait for the official statements, not the gossips, but it is a fun read:"Putin is meating with Vitalik!" "Sources close to the russian goverment confirm ban on bitcoin!" etc.
3174  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-05] Japan On Track to Become Bitcoin Market Leader on: October 05, 2017, 04:45:23 PM
Japan is the leader in sheer volumes, but how does it benefit the country otherwise?
China banned ICO and bitcoin trades at exchanges not because they are anti bitcoin, but because they want to prevent capital flight from the country
and they made this decision after looking at cons and pros,I'm sure about it
Japan is not the leading investment and financial centre of the world so they may as well try and take advantage of the situation and lure some of the paltforms
bitcoin is legal there but the taxes are not the lowest in the world,so there is a reason why there is not a booming bitcoin economy there just yet
3175  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustadice – Next Generation Dice (Ƀ 20 max profit & 10 bit faucet) on: October 05, 2017, 03:32:24 PM
its a nice site to play at,great from the get go
slightly complicated for a newbie and requires reading the faq and time to get acquainted with the controls
I have a couple of suggestions to increase the quality of life for gamblers:
1.introduce a max bet button-it is annoying to type in the figures when you want to bet all in
2.same goes for the bet multipliers-maybe have some most comon multipliers as separate buttons? (2x,1.5x,10x  min and max etc.)
3.autobet is so complicated that only chosen few familiar with bustabit, for example, will be using it and bother to create scripts, yolodice can serve as a bad example here:
sometimes too many options is not the best option
4.faucet seems to be decreasing with each and every claim, there is no level system or any ranks just yet,but maybe thats work in progress
5.no affiliate

all in all it looks and feels great and you should try it out!instant results,no annoying graphics if you do not want it
investment option if you want to bet against the gamblers and admin in chat Smiley so far so good

Good site, the crappy part is I can’t claim faucet it says faucet is not allowed. Contacted support and explained I only used 3-5 faucets and  it won’t let me claim... they said I had to wait 24hrs so I did that and still same problem! Contacted suppor again and they told me to wait another 24hrs lol wth.. only used 3 or 5 faucets and have to wait 48hrs to play again..I have another account to store my winnings but I don’t claim faucets on there..

Good site but just mad with support for not responding to my messages, all they said was wait another 24hr again
My user name is : rajahdat

You probably hit the per IP address limit, are you sharing an IP with someone else?

yeah it seems that I have the same problem, faucet is no longer available
pretty sure I haven't been using it today or yesterday and I don't share IP with anyone
probably it was restricted  or there is any other technical difficulty:
I've deposited,placed a few 0.03 btc stakes at mines,withdrew
lost the rest of my coins and contacted Live Support about my pending withdrawal,it has been resolved and then I tried to claim faucet...

Unless you are sharing an IP, faucet should be available 20 times a day. The faucet has also been moved to under more if you'r having troubles finding it.

Your situation seems odd, it shouldn't happen that quickly..

I asked Live Support,it was due to an unresolved mines game
once you are in the main menu the site doesn't show that you have an unfinished game
so I wanted to play dice and switched to it and claimed faucet
and got faucet claim not allowed message, well I should have been paying more attention,of course Smiley but I think implementing
a warning something like: You have an unresolved game or similar would help

well,of course bitkong would never attempt such a thing
their game is popular and brings them enough not to bother with browser mining pennies
risking their reputation in the process
oh and have you seen their site? it loads with sound and graphics from the get go
takes around 20 -30 seconds on my machine to fully load the page,so imagine them adding this code Smiley
would stall the user's machines to a halt
3179  Economy / Gambling / Re: looks like bitkong site is secretly mining on users machine - (Browsermining) !! on: October 03, 2017, 11:45:52 PM
Doesn't even reach 10% CPU here lol. Quickly looked in source code and didn't see anything special either.

Rationally we should expect scripts like that on shit sites where the site owner has no other way to earn money from their visitors. A gambling site is quite the opposite of that, so it would not make any sense for them to screw over their visitors like that.

This is actually a pretty interesting concept, I know the piratebay is doing something similar. You'd need tons of users for this to be relatively profitable though.

you would need visitors to stay long on the site as well
what could be better than an autobet on a dice site in a browser that can be running for hours if not days *winks*
unfortunately, due to the recent hype around thepiratebay and showtime, coinhive stated that they are planning to have their script
ask the user's permission before it starts using their resources now
