3161  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASIC Antminer S1 not really mining on: October 02, 2015, 08:04:22 PM
Can you get me a screenshot of the miner status tab? Are you solo mining? Basically if you're in a proper pool, you should be getting accepted shares. A couples per minutes. Give me more information Smiley
*snip pics*

The reason is because you're pointing your SHA(example Bitcoin) miner to a Scrypt(example Litecoin) port(7777). BTC is 8888. Change your url to stratum+tcp://us-east.multipool.us:8888 and it will work.

The proper url's depending on the algo are listed a bit down the page;
https://www.multipool.us/index.php

Alright, I'll try that when I get home. It does occasionally mine script, just off and on... If I remember correctly, it wouldn't really mine BTC either. Like I said, I'll try it when I get home and share my results.
FYI a sha256 miner will never mine scrypt, ever. You may be seeing the miner trying to getwork from the stratum server but it doesn't mean it's mining.  Don't take this as condescending I am just making you aware is all.

The miner is properly getting work and submitting shares back, but since its in the work algo, all share are abobe target. If you SSH into the miner and type screen -r you should see the shares being reported as such. Rejected, share above diff, over and over.

As the user above said, its absolutely impossible for it to mine scrypt. Its an ASIC, the only single thing it can do is submit SHA256d hash. It has no Scrypt chips on board. Point it to the right pool and i'm pretty sure it will work fine.

Also i am baffled that the posts above and bellow seem to ignore this discussion. We casually discuss how to improve people's earnings/time by a thousandfold and they prefer continuing referring to more faucets. I wish someone would explain it to me.
It's the micro earnings board: "Faucets, rotators, web based games, and other services that are primarily based on ads and/or micropayments."

Well i suppose that make sense. My posts here aren't even paid since the micro earning board isin't counted. But to me, campaign signature feel like it would fit as micro earnings.

I guess i'll let people who earn with Faucet do their thing in peace.
3163  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So who drops out at the halving? on: October 02, 2015, 12:47:55 PM
How many blocks have been found by home miners in the last year?  Any?
Difficult to tell.

Large pools like Antpool and F2Pool have plenty of users who are home miners, but that can't easily be divined.
Solo pools might seem like they'd be a good indication, but then there's people renting hash rate from a large hash rental provider and pointing that at the solo pool, so that's no good either.
Unidentified mining addresses might be another, e.g. 1MFsp2tx, but as they've had 5 blocks in the past month, that's a pretty high hash rate 'home' miner and more likely just an as of yet unidentified pool or business.
1KVcqebR only has one mined block (mid-August) apparently off of a ConiumumServ pool server.  Can't know for sure, but that could be a home miner.
1jKSjMLn "/mined by ck/" ought to be a 'home' miner Smiley

So in terms of "Any?" we know that there are at least some.  But how many, exactly, your guess is as good as mine.

Sound correct, most home miner mine at solo pools, because its still advantageous and less management. You also get monitoring capability with the accepted share rate. With the truly solo lottery kind of blocks found, i think we're looking at less than 1 per 10 000 blocks.

Yup.. agree with that. i think all don't brother the batch 2 and 3 until the batch 1 is shipment. Sad

Screw that, they should price adjust batch 1 for screwing us up against a one week holiday!!

They will most likely address this issue with coupon or a small refund to cover the delay. Bitmain always has respected their written engagement and i don't think its necessary to doubt them at the moment. Still i understand the frustration, i personally experienced not so fast delay before what i bought was shipped as well.

3167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you used Bitcoin as Real money to buy Real/physical goods? on: October 02, 2015, 11:59:07 AM
I use Bitcoins to add credits to my mobile phone and our prepaid internet.
I once used bitcoins to buy a mobile phone in a group buying site and so far they we're able to deliver what was posted in the ads.
Bitcoins is not that popular yet in our country but so far some online sites are accepting Bitcoins as a mode payment.

Could you tell me the site or group that you've bought your mobile phone? honestlly i've been looking for someone that selling smartphone via bitcoin thats gonna be simple than i have to cashout my bitcoin to the fiat before transaction, if iam not wrong you live in id, right?
You can buy goods with bitcoins from newegg and purse.io also. They are pretty reputed and trusted.

Two posts above, i'm asking another user if he checked out Overstock.com;

"Are you certain Overstock doesn't ship to your country?
https://www.overstock.com/intlcountryselect"

I think that is a list of country you can use to check if they ship to where you live. There are many country there and the most common on top of my head were there. I hope yours is too, but if not, i'm pretty sure you can still find worldwide online retailers.
3168  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: how much can you make weekly? on: October 02, 2015, 11:51:55 AM

1k+ a month? That is not possible only by faucets or only by signature campaign.
To earn that amount of money you have to hard work and have good skills like developing apps, exchanges, websites etc.
It depends on which country do you live but 1k+ a month is more than good enough for a person.

Yeah, it is not possible for only one thing, like I join signature campaign, I got paid 0.05btc to 0.1 btc per week if I post a lot, I can get 0.0014btc per post rate which is highest in the community. If i only claim faucets, maybe only 0.01 btc in one month, but i didn't make so much before.   Sad

Let's say that you earn 0.14BTC in a week that is 0.56BTC within a month.
That is the most that a hero member can get which is pretty good, + other sources you probably can reach ~1BTC a month.

for real? a hero member that still claim on faucets? Cheesy
what i expect to veteran members is earning  1 BTC a week online Cheesy am i right or not?
i am really surprised that there are still old members that uses faucets.

It is just a forum rank and it does not prove that you are earning 1BTC+ within a week.

If you are willing to make more than the usual 100~ posts, then you can make 0.2-0.5+BTC per week. Of course you need to treat it like an actual part/full time job, but it is doable. I'm not able to make 2+BTC per month with it but i know some who does. I still make a fair bit over 1BTC per month currently.

To achieve a such income, you have to be accepted in the Bit-X campaign, and this is a hardest part. I failed at it  Cry...
Yeah because bit x signature campaign have no limit on posting and their rate are also high, form that signature campaign you can make 1 bitcoin a week, but bit-x is not only need a participants who are active but have a great quality of post.

Yes that sound correct in theory. I think actually posting 1000 times in a week may prove to be challenging, but i suppose if someone actually spent 8 hours a day on it, it could be achieved with reasonable post quality.

Also i am baffled that the posts above and bellow seem to ignore this discussion. We casually discuss how to improve people's earnings/time by a thousandfold and they prefer continuing referring to more faucets. I wish someone would explain it to me.
3169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to store bitcoin in USD without transferring to my bank? on: October 02, 2015, 11:49:34 AM
you can simply leave the amount on the excahnge, usd should be backed up more than bitcoin in case of fraud, but if it is a big amount you need to verify yourself first

exchanges can still block your account, or just steal your funds. I would never hold any currency in an exchange for long

Unless you do something illegal, i think exchanges such as Coinbase are properly insured;

"Coinbase is insured against employee theft and hacking in an amount that exceeds the average value of online bitcoin it holds at any given time."

You just have to see where the affected laws are in effect and enforced, which may be limited to the US and Canada at the moment.

Yes Coinbase is insured just like your bank account is insured. They offer this insurance in all of the countries that they offer their services in, at least that's what they claim. It needs to be seen what would happen if actual hack and the loss of funds is to take place.

They could offer insurance, but what if the insurer denies it? It was the case with another company that has lost bitcoin but the insurer denied the compensation and then they sued them. It could take a long court battle to get the insurance. The insurance companies are sneaky bastards and always find an excuse to not pay.

Or, the company itself can be shady, and the insurer has no way of differentiating a legitimate claim or an inside job.

Just like I said, they do offer it in a theory, but if actual hack would happen it would be interesting to see what would happen. Especially since this is a completely new field for insurers as well. Something tells me that they would find many loopholes they would actually try to use not to pay out insurance.

They would probably be forced to do a settlement, which could take a very long time of going through court before it is reached. I guess in the best case scenario, it still mean losing accept to your money/BTC for quite a long time, thus only leave what you can afford to lose, online, even if you may or may not eventually get it covered by insurance.

irrelevant.

only 1 block of 100 is ... noticiable.

XT have not be more than 3 block of 100 ... for now.

The highest was never above 1%, so it sound like a fair bet to say XT is out of luck.

The highest on 1000 was 8 blocks on Aug 31. The hash rate come out of nowhere and get those blocks. Then drop to 0, then suddenly go up to 7 super fast now. I'm willing to bet it will die out again soon.

XT is done, that's a sure thing. If there was something to come out of it, that would already show u til now and especially in the beginning, after the release. This is just a dead cat bounce if you ask me. Nothing to worry about anyways.

The value still did not go up since we started this discussion thus it would appear that you are indeed correct. We can safely wait for the next contender to solve the upcoming issue of tx/sec limit.

3172  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer or Cloud Mining Website ? on: October 02, 2015, 01:06:09 AM
As a asset, the 21 Bitcoin Computer will depreciate in value, moments after you bought it... as a matter of fact, it's depreciating in value, while it's still packaged and on the shelf.

So even if you bought it as a asset to sell later, you will not get a lot for it and the amount of Satoshi's you make from it, will not lead to a ROI.

Cloud mining is proven Ponzi's... Good when you get in early and out fast... If you pull out to late, you will stand a chance to lose everything. So I would rather hoard the 2 BTC.

It's not because there's so many scam out there that all services are scam or Ponzi. Hashnest has to be legit and it's running on actual physical hardware and even though it IS setup to exploit people's money in a way that is safe(risk free) for Bitmain, it is by no mean a Ponzi.

Hashnest would be the only cloud mining service that I would invest on. I've seen that they will be adding the ability to purchase Antminer S7 hashrate soon. I'm keeping my eye on this one as they say that it is very energy efficient with low maintenance fees.  Cheesy
But, I heard, at Hashnest, no one has ever made an ROI!!!

Thats definitively false. Another good way to make profit on Hashnest is trading hash. The dividend you get is just a bonus, meanwhile its apparently more previsible than trading coins since the parameters are much more narrow.
3173  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining rigs rental is that profitable? on: October 01, 2015, 10:54:16 PM
The only renting place where you can actually make profit is NiceHash. All other rental sites charge premium for renting, so you need to pay more than what you get back.

Even on it is still hard.  Normally the price of hash is a few percent below at most (sometimes can go farther I saw 8 the other day I think).   But if you do PPS were your guaranteed even at antpool i think it's 2.5 percent.

So you  can go to a pool and have it based on blocks found and it's a gamble essentially.  Over time though renting hash with btc to mine btc is a losing bet.

Also last i heard, NiceHash charge 2% fee to buyer AND 2% to seller. Just a thing to double check before you try something there. Sometimes the Sha256d % goes 4-5% under strait BTC, like right now, but it's subject to up and down unless you used a fixed order, which is designed to be too high for this to be doable with it.

3175  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread sept 17th. to sept 30th Picks are closed!! on: October 01, 2015, 10:06:24 PM
So i personally wonder if maybe they oversold the first batch compared to what they had made, or if they simply did not get them shipped out.  Either way I think we will see batch one shipped out before 2-3.  But still will be some not happy in batch 1 if they dont get something for delay.  And in past they have done coupons a lot.  On L1 that they completely decided not to do it was a refund of it + a little amount or a coupon I believe if I rember right.  Been a long time since L1 happenings.

For the L1 they refunded using the original USD price, which due to a drop in BTC exchange rate was a good deal. And they gave extra BTC if you took the refund as a coupon.

Something like that would be nice for the S7 B1 but there is no competition now so Bitmain might just throw their "10 days" excuse at us. If there was a compensation planned then yesterday (before the holiday) would have been a good time to announce it or at least assure that shipments will happen before the 10th.

Maybe they feel its redundant to always address customer's concerns with "Your concerns will be addressed." over and over and over again. I mean their communication isint really up to snuff when they use "Second hand S5" for their last S5 batch that was used hardware but not second hand at all.

But the 10 days iirc was from 21 to 30 sept? So every day now is one more officially "late" day.

It is out of order on main site?
Batch 1 is but you can get batch 2 or 3 for sale

Or you can buy my Batch 1 for what I paid as I am not sure I want it anymore.

I am starting to get that same feeling. We paid a premium for a product that has missed its original shipping window (not considering their additional 10 day window) just to have the company go on vacation and not respond to support tickets but yet they have the time to post two additional batches for sale at a lesser price...

I agree. Big slap in the face for people that preordered. Pay topmoney for a miner that may or may not work at purchased specs and get it 3 or more weeks later than promised. Lose mining income AND they have the bollox to put up batch 2 and 3 at a lower price for sale.

Bad business practice and they can kiss any sort of $$ from me or anyone else I can influence and inform about them , goodbye.

That sound ultimately unlike Bitmain. Wouldn't Bitmain typically offer full refund or refund the difference to get on batch 3 back to the user? They always gave coupons or refunds whenever a batch was bad, i don't see why they would do a 180 now?

I think mostly coupons were used a lot sometimes refund difference or coupon.   Only one i think they did a full refund was L1 which they did not make in the end.  I'm willing to bet batch one that did not get it in time is a coupon but if it's worth the wait who knows on value.

I don't think I would hold my breath for a full refund.  But I always could be wrong.

Well if they compensate "lost mining time" or some such, its fine i guess. Of course they need to compensate for the price difference in Batch 1 versus Batch 2 and 3. According to their own offer, anything more than 10 days after the shipping start date is "late".

And i don't remember Bitmain ever saying "screw you guys haha no compensation. In my experience.
