It seems like the big four are currently (in order of votes): 1 Litecoin 2 Primecoin 3 Digicoin 4 Novacoin Then there are those deserving of honorable mention (in order of votes): 5 Cosmoscoin 6 YACoin 7 Goldcoin8 PPCoin 9 Feathercoin 10 Quarkcoin & Namecoin (tied) I am surprised by these results so far. First, I never even heard of Digicoin before this vote and it #3 on the list! I'll need to look into it. Also, Primecoin is really close to Litecoin in terms of popularity being a relatively new coin. It also has a lot of threads for it in this forum (I myself was getting confused and made an aggregate thread for the coin at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=264115.0Other new coins that are surprisingly high on the list are Cosmocoin, Goldcoin and Quarkcoin. Thanks for noticing Goldcoin. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gldtalk.org%2Fdevteam%2Fpower.png&t=663&c=_ke66TNCBjVZTg) We're hard at work to make it the very best coin possible! Everyone please remember to update your clients before Friday.

soooo, with this update, you hope to make your current holdings, more valuable, before dumping them? Still no word on making GLD useful, eh?
It is useful, it is the Gold Standard of Digital Currency! Thank you for your support. It's very much appreciated! I'm also working now on producing a series of TV commercials that will depict average/ordinary consumers using GoldCoin as money in their day-to-day lives. My goal is to have these ads produced and aired sometime late in the fall. Ultimately it will be mass consumer adoption that will take GoldCoin™ to the next level. IMO

Please update your client before that date to ensure compatibility with the new blockchain. Thank you for supporting Goldcoin. ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif)

We are proud to announce the latest updated to GoldCoin. The development team and staff have been working around the clock to make this the very best version to date. We have addressed a number of issues related to the previous client. The syncing issues and Litecoin upgrade alert have been fixed. In addition, there have been improvements made in the areas of coin generation, block reward, and difficulty retarget time. For a more in depth look at the changes and an explanation regarding those changes, please take a look at the official patch documentation here: http://www.gldcoin.com/documents/GoldCoin_Patch_v1.2.pdfThere will be a hard-fork at block 45000 which is currently estimated to occur on August 1, 2013. All current users should update their clients at least 24 hours prior to the fork. It is recommended that you backup your current wallet before performing this upgrade. We are testing our new alert system but can't seem to find the commmand for sending an alert to the client. Does anyone know the process for sending an alert to the client like the current litecoin upgrade alert?

I dont like the idea of 400 coins per block and less, I think you are doing it to make the coin more rare, so it could gain value. You should leave the number of coins as they are.
We won't be leaving the block reward as it is as that would result in unlimited coin output throughout infinity.

There have been a few times here where people have asked, "What makes Goldcoin different? What makes it better than the other coins?". So I had some extra time this morning and decided to write this post. https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=191.0

The best way to do this is buy BTC from btcquick with paypal debit and google checkout, then convert LTC to BTC.
You mean BTC to LTC. And do you have any experience with this site? Is it trustworthy? Yes, I use the service all the time and so far it's been 100% reliable.

I would like to know, if somebody can explain, what are the critical parts in this (and other) files which are important to distinguish this GldCoin from all other coins. After I could continue explore and/or control code further.
Especially I would like to read explanation of MicroGuy as moderator of all new changes, and from akumaburn as developer or from some other members of the team.
The repository is in the process of being updated. As stated previously, we inherited the current client distribution and are working to repair it in regards to the client sync issues, litecoin alert message, and infinite coin generation. Currently the coin generation rules are "stuck" at a block reward of 500 for infinity. This is something we inherited and are working to resolve in a manner that will bring long-term viability to the coin. The new rules will have a gradual reduction of block reward and a cap on total coin output after an extended period of time. Anyone interested in actually contributing to the project is welcome to register for the forum and participate in the discussion including the member's only section which is not viewable to the outside World. Thanks for everyone who is supporting Goldcoin! The future is looking brighter and brighter! ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

so whats the retarget time on GLD, I see the network has a low hash rate but diff is still high
yeah, they need to fix the retarget. pissed me off about the client do you know how much blocks it takes to change? In the new update diff will re-target every 60 blocks. do you have update client sir? ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) The new client is currently being rigorously tested on a private testnet and will be released once we're confident it's functioning properly.
