3182  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Whale mixer scam on: July 25, 2021, 09:06:18 PM
...
Honestly, I was reluctant to support the flag because there is no proof that op did send the coins to one of whalemixer's addresses.
But after reading this line:"I believe that anyone dealing with whalemixer1 is at a high risk of losing money, and guests would be well-advised to avoid doing so" and my conviction that any mixer that doesn't provide a LoG can't be trusted, I decided to support it.
The flag is now active and hopefully there won't be more victims.
3183  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam Alert] Scammer Impersonating Binance on Telegram on: July 25, 2021, 08:42:12 PM
Thanks op for the heads up. Funny thing is that they are asking to send 1 ETH at least. They are too ambitious!

Well, this is one of the reasons why I don't use telegram anymore. Even if you edit the settings to disallow automatic invités and only join legit channels, you will still find scammers posting phishing links and links to malwares.
If am interested in a project, I just follow their news on their official website or Twitter account.
3184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core will not run on Windows 10 on: July 25, 2021, 07:37:33 PM
There were 3 keys remining in the registry.  I'm not sure if lingering keys was the issue as I think there was another file Revo identified that was deleted.
This was, most likely, the cause of the problem. To completely remove bitcoin core, you have to uninstall it, remove the whole directory (after you back up the wallet.dat file) then remove all the registry entries it created.
Happy you managed to solve the issue but you didn't need any software to clean the registry. You could have done it manually from regedit (window + r), search for bitcoin then remove the keys.

Also, in case of corrupt block data, it's better to try reindexing and see if it fixes the problem before removing everything and starting from scratch.
3185  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Description field changes automatically on: July 25, 2021, 06:39:34 PM
Afaik, Electrum shows transactions in the history tab in a chronological order (depending on their date of confirmation). The most recent will always appear on the top. Their labels doesn't matter.
Besides, the label/description is linked to the transaction ID not to the address you are sending to. So, I suppose only the order in which the transactions appear did change, right? If yes, then this shouldn't be a problem as long as each transaction still show the description assigned to it.
3186  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Redeem Casascius using Electrum 4.1.5 on: July 25, 2021, 05:03:24 PM
Suggestion: You can get more than the value of the Bitcoin and other fork coins inside it when you sell it on forum collectible section(https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=217.0).
Too late! OP already peeled the coin and swept the private key into a new wallet.
In case he didn't claim the forked coins, I found this tool that may help him know which coins are redeemable and how much he will get from them:
https://findmycoins.ninja/
Note: the tool only support addresses with less than 20 transactions which shouldn't be a problem for Casascius addresses.
3187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bitpay help. How do I add additional coins after already creating a wallet on t on: July 24, 2021, 11:59:46 PM
I am using Bitpay on my phone and in matter of fact it's quite easy to add a new coin to your account.

You can add a new coin by clicking the configuration/settings icon on the bottom right corner of the wallet then click on your account/wallet (key1 by default), then click on Create a new wallet. then select the coin you want to add.

You can also do it by clicking on the wallet icon, click on the three horizontal dots on the top right corner then Create new wallet.

edit: was typing and didn't notice Bitcoin_Arena's reply. Belated me by few seconds  Smiley

^^
In fact, it doesn't require any hard work. Just enjoy reading subjects you are interested in and post whenever you think you have something to add or to ask about.
You don't have to know everything, you can contribute to the discussion by asking genuine questions. Just visit the technical boards and see how many merits are being given to newbies for asking good questions and showing their willingness to learn!
3190  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Direct Sending of Coins to another Coin Wallet. on: July 24, 2021, 10:18:14 PM
Technically this is not feasible. You can't send a coin from your wallet and receive a totally different coin on another wallet without going through a third party service (ie: exchange).
The third party service will take your coins, set the exchange rate then send the other coin to the recipient.

If such feature existed, then we wouldn't need all those exchanges.
3191  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to recive money with Lightning Network on: July 24, 2021, 08:46:24 PM
The problem with the lightning network is that it's still not easy to use for newbies and not many wallets support it. Besides, it's not yet suitable for big transactions.
I'm not trying to discourage you from adding it to your store but I don't expect you'll receive many payment through it.
If your concern is bitcoin high transaction fees, then you could think of accepting other currencies with low transaction fees such as LTC.
3192  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Wont pay bounty and keep refused to answear " Citizen Finance " on: July 24, 2021, 05:35:22 PM
I didn't like the way they replied to irfan_pak10 not only because they didn't tell when they will release payments but also because of the arrogant tone.
"tell your hunters" really!! Those bounty hunters aren't asking for donations. They did their part of the deal and the project team have to pay them on time.
I believe BM gave them the final spreadsheet all they have to do is to send the coins according to the number of stakes. How long is that supposed to take!
3193  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Does anyone know how to define a custom fee (BATCH transactions) on: July 23, 2021, 11:59:43 PM
If you are using version 0.21.0 or higher you can use the fee_rate argument (as suggested by TryNinja) and set the fee_rate in sat/vByte.
This feature was introduced in V 0.21.0. If you are using an older version, core will calculate the feerate depending on the number of blocks you're willing to wait before your transaction confirms (conf_target) and the priority (estimate_mode).
3194  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Does blockchain.com refund stolen funds? on: July 23, 2021, 11:19:39 PM
As long as you can't prove they are responsible for the lost of the funds, they will not refund it. If you start complaining, they will simply tell you that it's your fault (you got phished, you've a malware in your device..) and tbh, this is true in 99% of the cases.
The reason why you see many victims is mainly because most blockchain.com users are newbies who generally don't know how to properly secure their wallets/accounts.
What you can do is to stop using web wallets and start using non-custodial and open source wallets.
3195  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report WhaleMixer.com - Mixer That Dispense Freshly Mined Coins on: July 23, 2021, 10:22:24 PM
Please be careful not use this mixer my money not come, support is not responding
whalemixer1 haven't been active for more than 4 days (before you posted this). I hope they will resolve your issue as they did with op when they log in.
In the meantime, I suggest you create your own scam accusation thread and provide enough evidences to support your claims.

The reason we don't issue guarantee letter to download is because we do not want any trace...  i really avoid downloading anything to my computer, what if its a virus..
This honestly doesn't make any sense. The letter of guarantee is nothing else but a signed message. It can be a .txt file. In any case, you have to provide it and let the customer decide whether he wants to download it or not.
3196  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Hello does anyone knows how reedem casascius Bitcoin? on: July 23, 2021, 08:45:27 PM
For some reason, adding a prefix before a mini-private key will disable the "next" or "sweep" in Electrum's import or sweep private key.
When you want to sweep or import a mini private key, Electrum will convert it to a full-size private key and generate a "p2pkh" address from it by default.
https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/07219cc4c6435011afacda546f652cea91d98cd4/electrum/bitcoin.py#L666

One of the conditions for Electrum to recognize a private key as a valid mini key is that its first character must be an "S". If you add p2pkh in front of it the "text[0] == 'S'" condition will fail and the next button will remain disabled.
3197  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem Casascius using Electrum on: July 23, 2021, 02:59:44 PM

Are there more steps that I need to complete? I see some users are signing and broadcast? or can I now just send this to another wallet to cash out?
The first thing you need to do is to back up your new wallet seed and store it in a safe place, at least till you cash out all your coins.

Now that you have successfully swept the private key and secured your new wallet, you can safely claim your forked coins. You'll need to download wallets that support those coins. Here is a detailed guide written by LoyceV on how to do that:

3199  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How can I use electrum to receive payments on my site? on: July 22, 2021, 10:54:10 PM
* Create 1 bitcoin address for every user that registers (I don't know if this is is how would I should be doing it since it could be resource intensive, but either this or 1 for every X users.
I wouldn't recommend doing that. If you value your customer's privacy then you should generate a unique address for each one of them. It would be even better if you assign a new/unused address for each order. This will also make tracking orders much easier as you won't be confused about who paid for what.

Here is the documentation on how to use Electrum as a payment gateway:
How to accept Bitcoin on a website using Electrum
It looks like the Electrum merchant project hasn't been updated for too long! You should probably look for a better alternative.
