Grin fucked up their emissions schedule.  Just like Monero. Sad.

Untrue but I'll not sully this thread with alt talk.

Grayscale periodically closes off its crypto trusts to so-called “private placement” rounds. Such action happened repeatedly to GBTC in Q4 2019 – so the Monday halting is not unusual.
3186  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: December 21, 2020, 09:41:02 PM

So that's the entire amount they raised from the debt issuance, right? $650M? So absent some new injection of cash, it looks like they're all out of dry powder now.

Average buy price $16K. Still kind of hoping for a crash below Microstrategy's average price, if only to see Saylor try to explain himself to his investors and the SEC, and to see what it does to MSTR's price. Tongue

It would be sweet to have them on the market for a last ditch BTFD fire sale. Cheesy

Well that's just great! The Russian Covid vaccine's side effects include plummeting and stab wounds.  Hopefully these side effects aren't prevalent with our vaccine (if we get one that works on the current mutation)

Should have vaccinated himself for the Putin Flu.

I think this is the original thread.  This is the announcement thread posted on Coinmarketcap.  Is there anything else?

There was an earlier one IIRC, I wish Bitcointalk.to was still up.

Wow. Thanks for the heads up Homer.

I was a little hesitant to post that picture but I'm glad I did. I was wondering why it was so cheap considering its hard to get a house in Toronto for less than a million or a decent cottage that close to the city for less than a couple million.

It might not necessarily be a problem. I spent 25 years using a trailer on 50 acres of rented maple sugar bush in Oro as my country getaway.

I eventually had 3 trailers and a wolmanized, galvanized outhouse/generator shed with the complete blessings of the municipality. All the trailers were on a high bank overlooking a fairly substantial creek with waterfall. All they cared about was that everything was "portable" with no foundations and that no one was living there full time. When the land owner gave them my address in the city, that was that.

My only real problem was security. I considered converting an intermodal shipping container into a "mobile" home by torching in Lexan MR-10 windows and setting it on railway ties. Unfortunately the owner died and the estate sold the property.

As you can see by this picture, the present owner of this lakefront spread seems to have a trailer there already:

Being in an Environmental Protection One zone would actually be good for me as I prefer a natural undisturbed environment.

I'd like to be able to bring in hydro though. Maybe they'd let me use a trencher to bury a cable. Maintaining and fueling a generator is a hassle. I'd love to relegate my Honda to backup duty.

I obviously have lots of research to do.

Thanks again.

Shipping container?

3195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FinCEN Proposes KYC For Withdrawing Cryptocurrency To Private Wallets.12.18.20. on: December 19, 2020, 02:26:49 PM
This rule is a non-starter. If places a huge burden on anyone that wants to use Bitcoin for larger transactions.

In effect, it requires customers of banks and MSBs (e.g Coinbase, etc.) to identify the source or destination of any Bitcoin transaction over $3000.

So, let's say that a person with a Coinbase account wants to buy some gold using Bitcoin. In order for Coinbase to send the coins, the person must first find out who controls the receiving address provided by the dealer, and if it is not a bank or MSB, then they must obtain the name and address of the owner of the address and report that to Coinbase.

It works the other way to. In order for Coinbase to release funds that have been sent to you, you must first find out who controls the wallet that sent you the coins, and if it is not a bank or MSB, then you must obtain the name and address of the owner of the wallet.

Note that there is no such burden for cash. If you want to pay or receive $3000 in cash, you don't have to report their name and address to your bank.

How are you supposed to legally pay ransomware then?
3196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the end of Monero? on: December 18, 2020, 05:00:15 PM
^^^--- Are you people Morons incapable of comprehending a thread or are you all just sig spamming?

Febo very clearly points out right here that the CEO of the company that is claiming to break Monero is stating in SIMPLE English that it HAS NOT BEEN BROKEN.  DO YOU IDIOTS comprehend this?Huh?

If CipherTrace's claims are true, then developers should act quickly by strengthening Monero's privacy techniques. I've seen somewhere that they're planning to add the Dandelion Protocol to the Blockchain

Dandelion is already part of Monero for almost a year.

CipherTrace's claims are not true. Their CEO was interviewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5rtd3md11g

And CipherTrace said on twitter: Nobody can deterministically trace Monero transactions yet.

Someone should remind getmonero.org's administrator to update the website's SSL certificates. This is the bull market, I reckon many people will be going to the site and see this.

Make sure your computers Time/Date is correct.

Has everyone begun buying this in secret or has everyone dumped everything? I do not see the excitement for this pump hehehe. I hope no one has jumped off from a cliff without a parachute hehe.

My original plan before launch was to start accumulating about now but not so sure anymore.

I am wondering what the hell happened to Dan Bailey Cheesy Still remember him from his Cowboys days and he was a super reliable kicker, which always annoyed me a bit tbh. Nowadays he looks to be the worst kicker there is. He destroyed my over last week in MIN-JAX game, missing 2 PATs and 1 FG and yesterday he even topped that performance by missing 1 PAT and 3 FG's. And those misses yesterday weren't even close, they were way missed Cheesy

Most people are not aware that all kicker hips wear out if they play long enough, that's why Gostowski was so horrible for the start of the season. They usually try to put off the surgery for the off season and push through but sometimes weird shit happens when they all have bad hips at the same time.

Here is a good article on it.
