3181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin was created by NSA? on: July 05, 2013, 02:12:05 PM
I remember dwo years ago I explained to a few of my acquaintances about Bitcoin and then one of them starts saying it was definitely created by the NSA (note: none of us were US citizens) and the rest started nodding in agreement and looking at me with skepticism as I tried to enlighten them.  Roll Eyes
3182  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: July 04, 2013, 06:01:46 PM
And spend 20 min on every GPU? Why are we even talking about this?!

I think you are looking for problems. Whatever gets the job done is fine, in this case duct tape is OK if there isn't any zip ties around. I also don't see a problem in spending 20 more like 5 minutes on cleaning a graphics card that will be sold for $100-200.
3183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Give your kids their pocket money in Bitcoin on: July 03, 2013, 10:24:52 PM
I totally agree. I'll set up my children's computers to block porn, but other than that they're free to do anything on it unless I personally catch them doing something dubious (e.g. cloning phones, really bad black hat hacking, etc.)

Implying there is anything wrong with... any of those. The only problem would be if there was an intent to harm someone.
3184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Download Old Versions of Bitcoin-qt - Please Help on: July 03, 2013, 10:15:19 PM
There used to be more here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/bitcoin/files/Bitcoin/

I checked on two of my hard drives whether I have this version unfortunately I must have deleted it long ago.

check github, I found 0.1.5 alpha

A LARGE majority of the people here are under the age of 21, and I personally think that is a HUGE plus.

You are exaggerating a bit: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24709.0;all

edit: oh, you are 15, I get it Wink

3189  Other / Meta / Re: A way to see how many or who ignores you? on: July 02, 2013, 08:45:51 PM
I'm having difficulty getting replies sometimes, as if someone is ignoring me. Is there a way to check? Could it possibly be because I picked a bad name?

It's better than mine and I almost always get replies. Give them some time to respond, sometimes a person may just be too busy and have other pressing matters. If it's important and they are not responding within 2-3 days resend the PM or check if it's possible to contact them through other means (email, skype, etc.).
3190  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you mining with GPU? on: July 02, 2013, 07:12:31 PM
It may be profitable to mine some altcoins from time to time but I wouldn't invest much in mining hardware because it's all very volatile (more than BTC).
3191  Other / Off-topic / Re: So what car should I buy? on: July 02, 2013, 06:40:51 PM
I think you mentioned somewhere that you're from South-Eastern Europe? If that's so, I would avoid BMWs which will usually be more worn out than in Western Europe.
Even if you can afford a BMW in a decent condition it will more expensive to maintain that, say, a Fiat.

A Civic was mentioned and it's a good car but then again I'm not sure you'll be able to find one in a good condition at this price. I'd consider taking a mechanic to go along before buying.
3192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US BITCOIN REGULATION "FOR" or "AGAINST" on: July 02, 2013, 02:01:59 PM
The fundamental problem with your position is that there is no evidence to support it.  It's one thing to have a philosophy about living in utopia but it is something completely different to actually live in the real world.
This one can actually be turned back right at the opposing view. There is as little evidence for the case that stateless society wouldn't work as there is for the case that it would work. The simple fact is that we haven't tried so we don't know. Presuming to know that it would or wouldn't work seems, well...presumptuous.

It may work and it has already been tried:
http://mises.org/daily/1121

And about the regulation part the primary problem is that less regulation for banks, businesses, etc. should automatically mean that they are to carry more responsibility for their actions.
Bailing out != teaching about responsibility

3194  Local / Polski / Re: Polski! on: July 02, 2013, 12:03:19 PM

Watpie, aby wybral Polske. Nasz kraj juz nawet wlasnych obywateli nie chroni i wysyla ich na zadanie USA jak poprosza, np.

A nie-obywatel tym bardziej nie bedzie chroniony.

edit: Polska odrzucila jego wniosek o azyl.
3195  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: [ANN] CoinByCall.com - Get paid in BTC for listening radio over the phone on: July 02, 2013, 10:43:51 AM
I used to earn money with a similar method in Poland and I got paid about 3x as much Smiley
I also took out a few contracts to maximize the profits.
But that was some time ago, maybe it's different now or you have a higher net profit margin or the company you are working with doesn't pay as much.

I remember how the providers eventually started blocking the numbers and one had to buy cheap smartphones and program them to end a connection every 3599 seconds because any longer than that and it was reported to the provider who would sooner or later get suspicious. Not to mention that the contract mentioned heavy fines if someone was to 'abuse' their systems.

3196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Evidence Paypal (eBay) hates Bitcoin on: July 01, 2013, 10:26:04 PM
Sorry for your troubles by why mention Bitcoin.  Any Bitcoin miner is going to know which GPU are good for mining and anyone gamer just looking for a decent gaming GPU will hardly care.  You could always be discrete "does xxx MH/s" and leave it at that.

For gamers who are aware of the fact the GPUs in mining farms run 24/7/365 @ 99-100% load mentioning bitcoin mining may actually act as a deterrent.
3197  Other / Meta / Re: Userbase cleanup on: July 01, 2013, 09:49:06 PM
You seem to have some kind of cleaning fetish. I've got some dishes that need doing if you're interested.

I'd say it's because this forum may harbor a user-base with higher-than-average amount of aspie traits.
.. or am I exaggerating?
3198  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU mining is dead now. on: July 01, 2013, 09:19:04 PM
Also the labor of monitoring miners and rebooting them when they are slow or go offline.

If you actually have to spend time on that, you are pushing your GPUs too far.
They should be able to stay stable for at least 2-4 weeks.

As for the fact that it's no longer worth it, I agree.
3199  Other / Meta / Re: Userbase cleanup on: July 01, 2013, 07:25:49 PM
Well, 60% of accounts have 0 posts so it's a bit misleading if the total member account on the front page is >130k.
3200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US BITCOIN REGULATION "FOR" or "AGAINST" on: July 01, 2013, 05:41:21 PM
I had some withered old bitch sue me in small claims court a few years back because my front yard sprinklers sprayed her car in the street. She claimed that her car was new, my water made spots and ruined her paint job! She lost of course but not before I took a day off work and wasted money fighting her. The judge was actually pretty funny. He asked her if she lived in a part of California that doesn't get rain during the year. Obviously he thought it was frivolous but it still cost me.

I lol'd.
Shouldn't you be able to get her pay for the costs if she had lost?
