3181  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin for “Fake Rich”? on: December 15, 2020, 11:03:07 AM
Post-apocalyptic scenario the only thing that matters most are shelter and food. These paper money, gold, minerals or crypto not gonna matter. It's called post-apocalyptic for reason.
However, isn't that a good thing tho if people thought of crypto more specifically bitcoin as prestigious stuff to show off? atleast the value could go up unlike the iphone for pseudo-rich people which gradually losing its value.
Gold will still hold some sort of value in an post apocalyptic scenario, we as humans have always been fascinated by the glitter of gold and I do not think that an apocalypse will remove our love for this kind of things. Minerals will be a debatable case as some might not be of use in the current state of things. If crypto becomes something that you use to show off to your friends for clout, I think it does not change the fact that they are still social climbers, they just changed the medium that represents them but the state that they are in will never change.
3182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blocked funds in a poker room on: December 15, 2020, 10:28:20 AM
I always wonder why a poker site would hold a player's fund. Isn't it in the interest of a poker club to process everything quickly? A poker site can never lose as they let the players play against each other.
Shady sites tend to do that to put the player into a sticky situation that would otherwise cause them to abandon their funds if they find appealing for the hold not worth, they do this to hassle players that they find lucky in their tables. Contrary to what you are saying about fast processing as best interest, it is actually a good thing for them that they hold these funds because this means that the money will still be circulating in the website rather than the wherever the player will spend it.

I am not surprised because these companies usually do copy and paste of T&C found elsewhere. Like others have correctly pointed out this is a very shady and sketchy behaviour which, of course, happens only when a guy is making some earned profit.
In defense of these companies, they mostly offer the same thing so most T's and C's applies. I do not get one thing about it though, how come they still have players that are gullible enough to play in their site when they are sketchy and twitchy and all.

3183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPORTS - predictions and tips (Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL) on: December 15, 2020, 09:13:17 AM
The super team of CIS has disbanded, goodbye Just Error. The formation of their team was probably just an error.  Tongue

--> https://www.vpesports.com/dota2/ramzes-announces-the-dissolution-of-just-error
It seems that they can't work together, SumaiL is not familiar with CIS players, has been an NA player since but damn this could have been a star studded team. This seems like a bad decision on Ramzes though as stated in the article, seems not the kind to bite the hand that feeds them.
3184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing Bitcoin Ads : Mass adoption ongoing on: December 15, 2020, 07:20:43 AM
you are right, not only in london, we saw a few weeks ago in the city where i work which is in the netherlands. glimpsed while driving a car that there was a large company at the gate displaying various advertisements about bitcoin.
this is amazing isn't it?
How come, bitcoin is no longer as mysterious as 2016, now various countries are ready to welcome bitcoin in the coming year.
It really is amazing, I hope that I can see this ads in my country although it will be far from it because a lot of crypto and bitcoin related scams are plaguing the public, there is a group that I am in that is covering jobs and hiring that is plagued with bots that promote scams and such, hopefully there is a few to none that will fall for this scams. Thanks to start ups and companies around the world that bitcoin will be getting a good PR.
3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Great Reset" on: December 15, 2020, 05:48:54 AM
It sounds noble, but I am sure that something is hidden from ordinary people as always. Since not all countries will participate in such a reset program, namely, third world countries will not participate. I am sure that this will be one big experiment on "tightening the screws" for the ordinary population, presented under the guise of improving the ecology, which is also very important for the world government, since there is now a significant overpopulation of the planet in the world, and this has a very detrimental effect on the ecology of the planet.
It is a noble endeavor to be honest, if they plan to go for green energy then why not, we will benefit from that in the long run. There will always be a hidden agenda for this kinds of things and we can't do shit about that to be honest. This is an important experiment because humanity needs to find a way to preserve their kind and going for these experiments is the best course of action.

If you put mines closer to the energy source, the cost of electricity needed to mine will be drastically reduced, yes green energy is reduced but at the grand scheme of things, it will benefit the world from constant pollution from fossil fuel for power and with reduced price in electricity, we can use the extra money to improve our individual finances.
3186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will eat Gold’s market share, according to JPMorgan on: December 15, 2020, 05:09:04 AM
I don't have even one percent doubt in the article because gold has become old schools and doesn't profit the amount of profit which Bitcoin can provide, at the same time there would be a risk factor in bitcoin about losing on your capital if you panic sell it. Bitcoin might have more market share than Bitcoin in a decade as Bitcoin has been gradually adopted by corps and we will still have people who will follow he traditional method of investing into gold as they don't want risk and happy with lesser profit.
Gold might be old school but there are far more uses that you can utilize it with than bitcoin, the price of gold might go down but it will always stay relevant, it is a precious metal after all. Not to mention, jewelers will lose their livelihood if the price of gold goes down, so they will do anything in their power to make sure that gold will stay as it is, even if companies are using bitcoin as a reserve, it still is not enough to light a candle near the enormous amount of reserves of countries like US, Britain and other influential nations. Investing in gold though is a different story, I lean more on cryptocurrency because gold is such a bitch when you want to invest in one, you need a lot of papers for your identity just to make sure that you are eligible and you can't even hold the gold, in other words, you have to pay for storage.
3187  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fury vs Joshua --- who will win? on: December 14, 2020, 07:38:51 AM
This will be very difficult to answer are this two are the most competitive and popular boxers of their time now.
Subjectively it is easy which one you should pick, Fury won a lot of decisions so it can be a good fight for him if he drags it until the last round, there are stats floating around and AJ will have to win with the early rounds as most of his knockout wins happened in the early round, not to mention that he has lost while Fury hasn't. I bet this fight will be a drawn out fight that will favor Fury, it is too early to predict to who will certainly win but I will hedge my bets on Tyson Fury.
3188  Other / Off-topic / Re: Betting on Horse Racing, Ethical or no ? on: December 14, 2020, 06:53:49 AM
Humans are enjoying blood sport like boxing so what seems to be the problem for horses racing on track, I do not get their point because the former seems more unethical in my opinion.

The human talks and consents to being there. The horse can't, assumed consent can count as consent of you can determine its sentiment though - just because something can't talk doesn't mean you can't determine their emotion.
Well, most horses are bred especially for racing so I do not see the problem with that. Consent is debatable but I do not think that it will be of no difference whether the animal can consent or not, the responsibility of consent should not be of the horse but of its breeder/owner.
3189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is my Bank on: December 14, 2020, 06:17:51 AM
Investing in bitcoin is really good and your money will grow but you will need to secure also your future and banks will help you by saving money so instead of having bitcoin only it's better to have both banks and investing to the bitcoin. Once you earn in investing to the bitcoin will you put the profit to the bank. Because bitcoin is risky investment but will give you a good profit but it can cause also your money to lose.
I do agree with you, like any financial advisor would say, "Do not put all of your eggs in one basket." To OP, the risk are there not to warn you about the possibility of losing your hard earned cash, that is there to help you consider your options on what should go to that part and what not to go, banks are helpful too if you know what cogs to operate, it might be archaic but it can still be function as intended, try asking your bank about Index Funds, they have the biggest ROI in banks or you can use your account to buy some stocks of some blue chip stocks so you can earn dividends and invest in long term, if we always look at what is in front of us, finding small diamonds, we might miss the one at the other side.
3190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Defend the bitcoin network to the death on: December 14, 2020, 05:38:43 AM
Even if we are not talking metaphorically, the attacks against the network is relentless that it becomes impossible for a one man army to defend it. Defending something you benefit from should come to an extent and I think putting almost your entire life is not an ideal move to be honest. Bitcoin needs people that think for themselves, not sycophants who will be easily dissuaded that bitcoin can do no wrong. People like that is the worst because they will not listen to a voice of reason if the thing that they love is criticized. Isn't it a bit smarter if you save your own skin rather than your ideal because if you live then your ideals will live too.
3191  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin has not been able to hit $20k price in 2020? on: December 14, 2020, 05:03:59 AM
The Answer is very simple. The $20K region is now considered a major resistance region and breaking through it will be a major milestone in Bitcoins Price history. If you expected Bitcoin to continuously rise all the way from $10K and just breakthrough the $20K price minus any corrections, then you were totally wrong. That's not how the market works.

There will always be retractions until the buying power is strong enough to push past the resistance region.
IMO, I never even expected Bitcoin to get so close to $20k this year. I think things will be greater next year.
I am glad that it bitcoin will not somehow replicate the valley from 2017, which means that will prove the point that bitcoin market is unpredictable, if there is a continued support from many companies albeit scary, definitely the price will go up and hopefully you have a silver tongue regarding next year.
3192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you sell your BTC for $100 000, and never go back to the game again? on: December 14, 2020, 03:55:06 AM
It's a dilemma specially for average Joe who don't have enough bitcoin in their wallet. Perhaps if you own 1 BTC already and you can live comfortably with $100,000 in your country then I guess it is ok.

However, for majority of us who can't even get close to 1 BTC then I would say no. I will try to accumulate as much as I can not just for myself, for my kids as well. We really don't know what will be the price in the next 10-20 years, so we should also long for the term term effect even if it reaches 5 digits already.
1BTC at 100k is enough for me to go for a retirement in my country at 35 at the very least. I do agree that it is hard to accumulate the amount but this is all hypothetical so nothing can hurt, for me I would definitely go for it and use that money to go do some business that can sustain a simple life, and as I said earlier retire at 35 and pursue my other goals since I have a lot of free time, having a lot of money and not knowing where and when to spend it on does not make any sense to me.
3193  Other / Off-topic / Re: Betting on Horse Racing, Ethical or no ? on: December 14, 2020, 03:18:09 AM
PETA is not a credible group to look out for when it comes to animal rights, they euthanize shelter dogs remember that. Horse racing has been around for a long time, I do think that if we use them for entertainment but with a good condition then I think that it is not something we should be worried about. What we should be worried of is the forced breeding of winning horses via artificial insemination, that thing is just a luxury for rich people, getting a breed of a winning stallion. If the game harms anyone, human or animal, I do think that there is a problem and a question of ethical or not is just a discovery away. Humans are enjoying blood sport like boxing so what seems to be the problem for horses racing on track, I do not get their point because the former seems more unethical in my opinion.
3194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability Texas Hold 'Em on: December 14, 2020, 02:37:51 AM
I don't know much about the game of poker. But I like to play together. I will experiment with these statistics. Hope i win. serves to provide. I like this kind of sharing. I'm adding this title to favorites section. Thank you
Thank you for considering to put it in your favorite section, never seen that kind of compliment before. Although this will not help you much because it just shows the statistics behind the game.

I've seen this table in Bitcointalk discussions before. The table itself is not extremely useful because the hierarchy of combinations in poker is aligned with it. However, keeping it close before making tough poker decisions might be a bit helpful because knowing the odds of your hand being beaten is important.
I've asked this question before, but not many people commented on this, so I'd like to ask it again: wouldn't it be useful if poker websites showed the probabilities of a player's hand being beaten by some other hand in the game to every person?
To answer your question subjectively, I assume that it will be in real time so pardon if that is not what you meant. Having a stat counter during play time is very problematic because it removes the risk of going in even if you do not have a good card. They already do this kind of thing with poker tournaments although it is in spectator mode. If not in real time, I do not think that it will be of much help to put a stat counter because the game already ended and it will be difficult to analyze one game because as we all know, poker is fast pace.
3195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adult companies and bitcoin? on: December 14, 2020, 02:00:44 AM
First, we are already in the bull run, from $3000-$19,000, that a huge spike in the price.

Second, yes, I'm a firm believer that every industry that adopts bitcoin will bring it closer to adoption. But porn industry is a niche, so I doubt that it will bring the market to the bull run. However, this is positive news, so why not? Maybe it will set a precedence to the adult industry to accept bitcoin, but as far as I know many have started this years ago, specially in the bull run of 2017, but I'm not sure if those companies are successful.
Porn companies might be a niche but it is one damn big niche, the porn in the Internet is the biggest industry existing by far, I agree that it will not bring a bull run but it will be a big adoption because there are a lot of users whether those users want to admit it or not that they are surfing the Internet for porn.

Pornhub has been accused of filming unconscious women 👩 getting fucked.

It is defined as rape since the woman 👩 can not give consent.

I think trying to use pornhub on the downlow with tor and btc is going to a lot people fucked harder then the unconscious women that were filmed being fucked or raped.
That is pretty disgusting to be honest, if this accusation is true though, I do not think that it will be a problem for Pornhub because they seem to be unfazed by this and they just deal with the issue without fuzz. Hopefully, no videos of this nature resurface because this only perpetuates the acceptance of rape in society. Also, who in their right mind watches this kind of video?
3196  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin For Eternity on: December 13, 2020, 07:06:06 AM
Based on your statement about how bitcoin exists as a problem-solving alternative in every country, this has proven that Bitcoin is very friendly to everyone. I hope that in the future bitcoin will not only be an alternative in dealing with payments. but become a legally accepted instrument in any country without exception.

maybe not only that, there are already many online stores that have implemented bitcoin payments first. restaurant, and many more.
It is the purpose of bitcoin after all, freedom for the masses. Bitcoin might be the future of payments or might not be but one thing is for sure, and that is that Bitcoin spearheaded a digital revolution that will challenge the archaic system of banks and financial institutions.
3197  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Yebo Finance Stolen Conten on: December 13, 2020, 05:38:45 AM
I think that is how they operate with their scam websites. They just replicate and do some small tweaks to make it look different to an untrained eye. Some sell the same script to other scammers so you can be cautious about this site. We do not know if this is a real scam site and I think that we should give the creators a chance to explain here, hopefully.
3198  Other / Off-topic / Re: Instutions Invest in bitcoin real reason on: December 13, 2020, 04:57:03 AM
I do believe that the real reason why the institutions invest money in bitcoins is because the government is crumbling during the pandemic and inflation is rising drastically, they do want a safe investment so that if something bad happens they can have at least support from somewhere

At the same time industries and businesses should be flexible, if they don't adopt these new technologies they will be left behind sooner or later and therefore this would cause major problems for them in the long run.

Now what they have though bitcoins is :
Safety
Investment
They are in par with the new technologies so have better chances of surviving in the long run.
I do not think that it is the main reason that they are investing in crypto. Companies are number one priority of governments around the world because of capitalism, one example is in US where Airlines are plummeting and they do not have any emergency fund to survive the year and they come back to the government for help, the money that is used to help this capitalist cronies are taxpayer's money. I do agree with your second statement that companies are becoming flexible, in this competitive world of technology, I do think that it is imperative that they adapt to new and bleeding edge technologies.
3199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Poker Probability Texas Hold 'Em on: December 13, 2020, 04:22:29 AM
This list is a good overview for beginners but Texas holdem pros know exactly what to expect from a hand based on their experience. They know that if 2 aces are down in the cards and they have 2 aces in their hand it is going to be a massive win for them in 99.99% of the cases.
Two pair is not the best case for players for me, I have seen pros got their asses handed to them because they thought that they have the best hand there is, there was this one game that I saw long time ago where one play an all in because of a 3 pair and not knowing that his opponent has a full house, at first the full house guy seems to be in the verge of defeat because he only has a high card and thought of bluffing but the showdown prove otherwise.
3200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Screenshot of Satoshi's last post on this forum on: December 13, 2020, 03:17:38 AM
Satoshi has a balance of nearly 1 million BTC, let's guess what will happen if the wallet can be accessed by someone, whether it's the owner or maybe a hacker. Will the price of Bitcoin start to crumble and start not selling?
If it's the case that a "hacker" manages to gain access and if the hacker does dump it, sure. But that's a huge "if". We're talking about a person or group that has managed to stay anonymous for a decade here. You'd assume that he/she/they know how to secure the coins.
There are a lot of possibilities, satoshi could've forgotten about that 1 million bitcoin and never bothered to find it, that seems ridiculous but that can still happen. We will never know because we do not know who is behind the curtains of the account satoshi. Best thing we could do is honor satoshi's wish to be anonymous and cherish the brainchild that is bitcoin.
