321  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: June 28, 2016, 07:03:04 PM
the F1 version with one fan was a bad idea. Unless, you throw them nice fresh air, they overheat.

They need 2 fans to be safe.

It really works flawless though.  I have one and had 0 issues with it, if something goes wrong it should shutdown at 80 c.   I do have a second fan but never did attach it to it as it is working good.  It is summer and hot for many and I don't see S7-F1's burning up.... so seems to work fine.   But I do agree it takes away some safety with redundancy of having two fan's even though we have not been seeing them burn up.

I also have some decent sized fan's blowing air through my mining area to.  So guess that is part of why I'm not to worried.
322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mining litecoin or bitcoin? on: June 28, 2016, 06:55:43 PM
Good evening I would like to know if I might undermine with this hardware:

https://www.amazon.com/AntMiner-S3-441Gh-0-77W-SHA-256/dp/B00NZDBWKG/ref=pd_sim_147_7?ie=UTF8&dpID=51yEGQTSg3L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=P6A489NQWKZZB6BZQX99

I'll use a few months and I have tried to undermine the CPU of the PC but I would like to switch to external hardware you what do you recommend?
With the PC I tried to undermine litecoin because I can not even think of undermining Bitcoin because it is impossible  Grin

Thanks for your attention

That gear is for BTC uses sha-256 base software to mine.

It can also mine PPC  with sha-256 .  you will need a psu to mine with it.

It uses .77 watts per gh or around 400 watts on full power.  It will not turn a profit unless you have free power and you can use the heat that it makes.
ebay seller of a psu

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-1200W-Power-Supply-PSU-Custom-Solder-Kit-for-Antminer-S3-S1-S5-Avalon-A6-/231963112292?hash=item3602143364:g:fewAAOSwIzNXOmBR

the s-3 on ebay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antminer-S3-Antminer-S3-453-GH-s-Bitcoin-ASIC-Miner-/182171025032?hash=item2a6a3d3e88:g:zfwAAOSwPc9Ww3ck

so the psu and 2 s-3's would be okay on it  total of under 140

or the psu and 1 s-3 total of under 90

it will lose money with out free power

Thank you, How soon can I get a profit?

No one can say exactly for sure when you will hit profit.  To many varibles such as seem's your looking at buying in USD.  So BTC could raise in value during mining and hit quicker.   Also we don't know what difficulty will do over next month's so we speculate.  But we just don't have the info to do this even for you.

For a S3 you need very very cheap or "free" electricity at this point they are good machines just dated.   What is your electricity rate? (include fee's and taxes)

Hi guys! Payments will go through today.

There may be a rate change due to the recent 50% rise of Bitcoin (close to 100% at the very peak).

Regards

Thanks Marco I look forward to receiving it later today.  Hopefully it resets post counter at that time to.   I love this campaign as shown by being in it over a year. Not sure how much rate change you are talking but 50 percent number in the sentence scares  me.  Hope it is not that drastic.

*Edit looks like new rate is on first page now:

Highest rates!

If you believe you're an extremely high quality poster and believe you deserve a higher rate please contact me through PM and I'll see if something can be worked out (even higher rates)!

324  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: June 28, 2016, 01:20:54 PM
no reset this time, is this campaign even managed anymore? both managers are mia, they should recruit someone that has no college/university to do

I'm sure he will fix it.   It would be nice if anyone is able to contact Marco though way's most of us don't have to tell him it did not reset on bot.  (If anyone has his phone/skype/etc.)

I know he will fix it but dang we were on a good streak on reset was hitting it every time automatically it seemed.   But we need a reset, hot wallet refill, and payment.

Even with these bumps it still is the best campaign  around I believe.   I or many others I'm sure would be willing to help if needed if it's a busy season for Marco and Bitcoin_Boy$ .
325  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 27, 2016, 08:43:47 PM

Yeah I misspoke (misstyped) on my previous post.  It'll hit 4000 within a minute if it gets a good restart, not 3000 as I had stated before.  I get 12.6 also but I am running at 587.  I thought about trying the mystery firmware but opted not to until I hear more results.  My slow board will push 4150 or so after a good restart at 587.  The thing is the other boards will do 4300 easy with higher freqs, but if I do that the slow board just gets stuck around 2700-2800 (like your screeny).  I may well try swapping boards when my B4 arrives to see if I can build a higher freq unit and lower freq unit.

I would contact them  before switching boards between unit's.  It's would break the warranty seal and be a shame to lose warranty on two pretty new unit's  over a little bit of hash.

Have you contacted them and said it did not fall in "12.93TH/s ±5%" of batch 2?  If not do that before breaking seals and voiding warranty.

It gets 12.6 which is within the 5% range.  I realize it will void the warranty.  I wouldn't do it right away and I haven't even gotten the B4 so who knows, it might have 3 great boards that all get 4300 in which case there won't be any reason to swap boards around.  Just something I would consider if it looked like it was worth doing.

Ahh ok I guess the picture is old then or before the  freq change.  I thought you were in area  of 11.4ish (pictured rate) but 12.6 is much better.    Personally if it works I would keep it going at least though warranty stage.    .3T is very little hash to give up warranty over.

Either way best of luck.
326  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 27, 2016, 08:28:42 PM
Hi I have received two units of S9 and both have one board hashing around 2.7

They are batch 2, is it a normal? Any tips?

Thanks!

As others have said try lowering the freq.  I have one board which underperforms as well.  If I do a 'save and apply' without changing anything, sometimes it will come up good (higher hash) and sometimes it will come up bad (lower hash).  But lower freq usually means better odds of it coming up good when I restart cgminer.  I can tell within a minute if it got a good start because it will either come up past 3000 or it wont by that time.

I've got it working with the mysterious "low voltage" firmware from June 22nd. I had to lower the frequency to 593 and reboot quite a few times but now I got it running at 12.6 TH stable, with the slow board around 4000Gh, I guess this is as good as it gets.
I'm wondering if using an alternative PSU to my bitmain one would improve, I will try to borrow one to test.

More than I wanted to spend but I bought one more.  I'll wait until after the halving to decide if I need any more.

Anyone know the turn around time for bitmainwarranty in Denver?  The S7 they are fixing for me now needs to be sold to make room for the S9 I just ordered.

They have great service from my experiences.   They are very quick on things I have done so far.  You can contact them very easy is one thing about their great  customer service - https://bitmainwarranty.com/contact/

So there is a ticket form there you could fill out if you really need to know time frame,or there is also a phone number.  So you can contact them and get a better and more accurate anwser then me guessing  Smiley

I bought 3 sent payment immediately. now my order says expired lol.

It should fix it's self.   But I know when I spend this kinda money I always like to be sure.   If your like me email info@bitmaintech.com with all order info and how it went to expired and they will send you something back in email about situation.

Been trying to test different pool's this time I went ahead going for more time on Antpool.  You will see 3 day result's in past post- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493601.msg15333209#msg15333209.  This was a 7 day mining test.   I am showing the machine in 6 day area as it did have a reset not sure why was not there when it happened.  But the good news is it was a good test and it recovered and started mining right back, so not a test I wanted but still reacted good to it.  The two full sized dashboard show earnings which I'm pretty happy with in 7 day's.

Below is full sized pictures of dashboard for info from pool side at 7 day's:

330  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 27, 2016, 11:49:27 AM
What's the life expectancy on the S9?  The previous models only ran about 1 year so I'm hoping these can go longer.

what are you talking about?

I know of s-1's that still work along with s-3's and s-5's

They just are not very efficient and don't earn much money even with cheap power.

Yea this is pretty far off, not sure where he got the 1 year number.   But a LOT of previous gen miners still work for people, if you treat them good they will last a long time (in most cases).

For me personally I have had many different models, they they have have had long lives.   With "normal" electricity price for lack of a better term I have to upgrade at points due to efficiency to keep mining.  My old gear then goes to a new owner with cheaper or possibly "free" electricity.   But a LOT of gear runs much longer then your 1 year data.  Just look on the boards there are still decent amount of S3 questions considering how  long they have been out.
331  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 26, 2016, 11:27:04 PM
I have issues with using closed source mining software, especially when it has been copied/cloned from free, open source software. i like to know there are no security risks or hash theft going on. Either way, weather the mining software was copied or not, there should be a source repo available so that it can be inspected for such problems by those that are forced into using it.

Hopefully some tech-savvy dev will be able to create an image with the proper, secure & trusted cgminer software incorporated into it - I might buy one then.

If the price goes down dramatially enough......

You should be throwing this up on you network which I assume is behind a router/firewall.   So you should be good on security as you have that between the S9 and the internet.  So as long as you have that good router/firewall there should be no issues even if there was a vulnerability(which I don't think one has been pointed out and were talking in theoreticals).

So you should be secure with your S9.  I don't see many throwing up open to internet. So for most if there is a security risk on your network the issue is bigger then your S9.  Just my feelings on it.
332  Other / Meta / Re: Is there anyway to tell if a account has been sold? on: June 26, 2016, 06:16:06 PM
Hey notlist3d Smiley

I can personally testify that Vlad's account has not been sold.  I've been chatting to him via private messages these days (just a couple hours ago as well) and I know with 100% certainty that it's the same friend that I've known before.  Same man.

Some ppl just like to change their passwordz every once in a while, it's really not a good indicator for account sales. (In some cases it is of couse, you're right).  He's just been interested in joining a sig campaign recently

~CfA~

Well I will lock thread then.  I hope he did not take it personal I just thought with mentioning time off and password change, mixed with trying to join a campaign.   I mentioned from beginning  I was not sure.

But seems like a user who just changes password and odd timing because of it.  Again no offense meant this is why I asked if others could tell more and not accuse.
333  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If I mine bitcoin with S7 this is the calculation I get.Let me know its correct. on: June 26, 2016, 04:35:21 PM
I believe many small miners will stop because of cost of running of mining and not enough rewards in return. And miners who are big will take over  their place. There wont place for small miners in near future.

Not really it just is that the S7 might not work  after having for higher electricity priced users (those around 10 cent's  espically higher).  But there is the S9 with a HUGE jump in efficiency which allow many to keep mining after having  that would not have been able to with S7.

So a lot still will be able to but some will need to change to more efficient machines.   We still don't  know  a  lot on exact due to BTC value fluctuating.
334  Other / Meta / Re: Is there anyway to tell if a account has been sold? on: June 26, 2016, 04:24:34 PM
There was also a message about taking time off on day with 2 reset's

I've got some personal issues going on so I'm gonna take some time off.

After watching the Ethereum debacle and giving I some serious thought, I'm no longer supporting any blacklists or any touching or manipulating of the blockchain, that would be suicide.  The premine sucks but plenty of coins have succeeded massively with huge premines.

Take care, guys...

Much love!

Vlad

335  Other / Meta / Is there anyway to tell if a account has been sold? on: June 26, 2016, 04:04:24 PM
I was just curious saw user: Vlad2Vlad  - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=112208

He has good trust Vod's trust makes him look good there.  But if you look at security log - https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php quite a few recent password changes in short period:

June 23, 2016, 08:01:25 PM - Vlad2Vlad - password changed
June 23, 2016, 08:00:34 PM - Vlad2Vlad - password changed

On 23rd he also talks about taking time off - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230141.msg15338123#msg15338123

And Today at 11:18:21 AM - Vlad2Vlad - password reset via email  (I'm wondering if this one was to check email worked on account).

But soon after that last reset he tried to join a sig campaign (in about 30 minutes):

You guys accepting legends, err, legendary members?  Hook me up ASAP and I'll blow up Bitcointalk for ya!

So I could be completely wrong but recent password change + message on 3rd post and trying to jump into signature campaign seems odd. I wondered if anyone could tell more proving if sold account or not. And I could be completely wrong I just found above to be odd.

*Edit looking I guess he could be a user who just changes password a lot:
June 08, 2016, 01:36:01 PM - Vlad2Vlad - password changed
June 04, 2016, 12:30:34 PM - Vlad2Vlad - password changed

So I could be completely off base I just found it odd to change a  password different way then previous 4 and within 30 minutes try to join a sig campaign.   So again just asking not accusing as I have no real proof was just curious what others could tell.
336  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: June 26, 2016, 03:42:16 PM

Can you guys make signing up any more confusing?  Can I have an updated sig line for a legendary member?  Thx.

And also, the link where it says to sign up and check status only allows to check status.  Really confusing.   Thanks.

The  reason it is confusing is that there are NO SPOT'S. So even if you follow directions you  will not be accepted....as 0 spots are there for you to be accepted in.   So there is not really a check due to it being full, you were not accepted by doing old sign up as again no open spots.

I  realize this is not what you want to  hear.  Many pretend to not  know it's  full  or pretend to miss  front  page which is still current:
No New Spots!
337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S7-LN Network issue on: June 26, 2016, 03:06:15 PM
try using  a different password  not root.

also is it behind a router  that has a password.

all my miners are behind a router that has a long password.

modem>>>  router >>>> switch>>>> miners with a different password then root

Also can you share a picture of your network settings page? With network issues I'm just curious to see what your settings are in there.

Did you try without wireless bridge and see what happens? (don't know if that is a option for some it might not be).   I'm really curious to see what it would do direct to router.   Or if you have another wireless bridge if you can try it.
338  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 26, 2016, 02:54:11 PM
ah hemmmmm

s9-20160622-650M-for-low-voltage.tar.gz

"birdie" tells me it fixes low hasrate S9's & BEST tip is that it works across all batches but WATCH the temps.

as usual what ever you do:

DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK !

Where do you download it?

Reference this: https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3554

Hmmm, Gives this link "https://REMOVED"  and the link really is https://enshop.bitmain.com/support.htm?pid=00720160615035302444KTs9xiKF06B2

Sounds like a virus or malware or someone trying to high jack your miner!!

Removed your shortlink link as I have no idea what it is and don't want other's to click on it either.  But the link of: https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3554 was proper and goes to bitmain.com.

It is for Bitmain your S9-B1 Antminer if it is running below 13.3, the affected units were primarily shipped out on June 12, 2016. (very brief version but if you fit in that read entire page).
339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Copy/paste changing bitcoin address on: June 26, 2016, 07:23:39 AM
I have a strange problem, When ever i copy the bitcoin address and paste it any where online or in any documents it changing to the another address. could any body know the solution how to fix this problem. I already scanned with the malware bytes but no use.

It sounds like more then a problem, sounds like some sort of security issue.  It is NOT normal or ok for BTC address to change when being pasted.  This sounds like you have been compromised.   It might not have found it but if this is something you can replicate it sounds like virus/malware.  Does it always past same address?  If so what is it?

I would get all hot wallets off that machine if you have any.  Also if you had any private key's stored on it send coins to new safe address.  Don't sign into anything important, and if you have change password and not use it on that computer till you can find out what is happening.

Hello

I'm cleaning up years of old accounts and stuff. I created this account years ago and never used it, I'll never use it again so it'd just be easier if the account was deleted.

Thanks.

Hi probably this is the wrong section.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0
Check here...

but it's allowed by the forum rule ask to delete an account?

I'm sure a mod will move to meta.  But they don't delete account's there are many good reasons for this.  Imagine if scammers or other "bad guys" could do a scam then just delete account.    It could be a bad thing so they across the board do not delete accounts when  users ask for it.

The best he can do is delete all posts and change email to something you have no access to with a password you will not write down.  Effectively losing access to the account, but it will not be deleted.
