321  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox deletes all tweets from their twitter feed on: February 24, 2014, 02:25:36 PM
What I'm trying to say is: being in the peculiar situation they are in now, why risking some more bad PR (deleting all tweets) instead of trying to solve it internally?
322  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Crypto Doubler - coin2x - coin2x.com on: February 24, 2014, 02:22:12 PM
Their site isn't online anymore, you can't chat with them.
saybia referred to having chatted with coin2x support in the past, before they ran of with all coins.
323  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox deletes all tweets from their twitter feed on: February 24, 2014, 02:20:49 PM
If that were to be true, why wouldn't they just modify their service desk system instead of deleting all of their tweets?
This doesn't make sense to me..
324  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CraPE v0.3 beta - Boot from USB - Win8 PE Based Mining OS on: February 24, 2014, 02:17:18 PM
Is it legal to distribute your own OS based on Windows 8?
Isn't this copyrighted by Microsoft?

Distributing? Feels more like myself and a couple buddies working on a customized WinPE for their respective businesses  Wink

All the source material freely available on Microsoft's website. Short answer to the first question: Yes, if it's WinPE.

I didn't know WinPE was made freely available by Microsoft, my bad.
I will start reading about WinPE to improve my knowledge.

Does this also mean that I can legally use WinPE as a VM on my ESXi server for just 1 task?
325  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Crypto Doubler - coin2x - coin2x.com on: February 24, 2014, 01:12:22 PM
You're probably just confused by mtgox  Wink
326  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: February 24, 2014, 01:10:37 PM
Hello guys

my apologies to all who are waiting for updates. Those who follow our githubs can see the progress on the project, but I understand that lack of direct communication may worry some of you.

Current state of software: We're finalizing all parts of software.

1) Trezor really works. We're finalizing screens, dialogs and doing final code polishing.

2) Yesterday we finalized all unit tests (https://github.com/trezor/python-trezor/tree/master/tests) and firmware currently passes most of them; it's matter of days to pass 100% of them.

3) myTREZOR (https://github.com/trezor/webwallet) is also almost done and we're giving it just final UX touches. Fine-tuning of the browser plugin for all platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux) was extremely painful because USB stack is bag of s...t, but we successfully passed all implementation problems.

4) Firmware is currently being reviewed by security experts, one of them being Nethemba. We plan to wait to results and fix reported problems before we'll ship.

Current state of hardware:

1) We have all Metallics ready to ship.

2) Production of cases for Classic is becoming a little painful for me. It turns out that once our producer solves one issue then he has to face another one. I am optimistic and believe that these are the labor pains and once overcome that everything will run smoothly, but it needs its time. Although I appreciate very much the input of our producer who went through the entire casing development and gave us a lot of useful expertise, we're now actively looking for a new production facility that could guarantee a seamless production of plastic cases.

What's next?

We've decided to send some devices on Monday to few preorderists - well known community members - for developer preview. I believe they'll provide us valuable feedback as they'll be first real users of TREZOR.

slush

Thanks for the update.
I can't wait to start reading the first reviews, if they are positive you'll have another customer  Smiley

What kind I say besides that this forum is just a good representation of society?
You have nice people, people trying to gain money over you at any cost, scammers, ... just as in the real world.

I hope that my posts actually contribute something.
329  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox deletes all tweets from their twitter feed on: February 24, 2014, 12:52:39 PM
that certainly cant be spinned as something positive.  And will certainly cause a lot of panic and rumors until there is some clarification as to why that was done.

Yeah, what the hell are they playing at? They seem to be doing everything they can to cause panic and confusion.

Yep, It's like gox are doing the completely opposite of what they should be doing.

If Mt. Gox's objective is to get the value down under $100 in order to revive "their market" (the Mt Gox btc) but people keep supplying work-arounds, and positive glimmors of light (leak about withdrawal testing) which keep increasing their values then they must do what they can to push it back down.

If they are solvent at $100 or less per real btc , but insolvent at $200 or more per real btc then their actions no longer look stupid.

If gox somehow fix this mess, we will see bitcoin rocket.
But it sucks that one exchange has such a massive impact over bitcoin.

Don't think so.
If people are able to withdraw BTC from gox they will immediately sell their goxcoins on other exchanges, bringing average BTC price down.
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Banks Strangling Bitcoin Startups ----------- on: February 24, 2014, 12:37:53 PM
I've been looking for a bank in the UK which will work with a Bitcoin business and it seems impossible.

All of the main banks have stated they don't work with Bitcoin related businesses.

What are the options? it's strangling the growth of Bitcoin in the uk

What do you need to use a bank for? And you can try what FelixOliver said.

I have the same question.
If you require a loan, try getting a loan here in BTC directly if you offer some collateral and use escrow.
331  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Gox buy their way out of this mess? on: February 24, 2014, 12:35:11 PM
I don't think they can buy their way out of this.
There has been so many negative PR for them the last weeks that I believe nobody is going to trust them anymore.
332  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MTGox deletes all tweets from their twitter feed on: February 24, 2014, 12:27:27 PM
So the process of erasing as much 'evidence' that could be used against them as possible has started  Smiley

337  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: Crypto Doubler - coin2x - coin2x.com on: February 23, 2014, 08:32:48 PM
the strange thing is that they have only made 12 btc...closing so early for a mere 12 btc??? that's dumb lol
They made much more than that. According to my rough calculations they received 142 btc and sent 63 btc. Profit: 79 btc. Probably a bit more because the site was open for a while after i made the count. If you have other info please link to it. My numbers come from entering the info on the site into a spreadsheet.

Other posts are even talking about 125 BTC..
Ok you're right, 100K is a bit optimistic given today's BTC/USD exchange rate.
Let's say > 50K USD in BTC ONLY..
338  Other / Off-topic / Re: 14 Things That Your Friends Ask About Bitcoin on: February 23, 2014, 08:26:16 PM
The #1 question they ask me:

"Why would anyone besides drug dealers or terrorists need bitcoin? If you aren't doing anything illegal, you don't need them."

*facepalm* Cheesy
