They are not passing on the benefit to old customers. I am two months into a 12 month contract - am I an 'old' customer? But I am excluded from the upgrade. All you people who have just 'benefited' from the latest price drop and upgrades need to know what to expect because I know you are all, like vaisajne, feeling like you just got a great bargain. I felt the same way two months ago when I bought my first GM contract and had it almost immediately upgraded from 4 to 9 MH/s - just like what happened last week. That inspired me to buy another larger contract a week after the first one - I now have 59MH/s. It felt great to have all this money coming in day after day. I always understood that the rate of returns would drop off, but what I was not prepared for was the RATE at which they would drop off. To put it simply the payout in BTC is roughly halving every month. After two months I am getting less than a quarter the payout I was getting when I started. GM announced last week that they will be bringing online a new datacenter and new ASICs. Undoubtedly there will be much competition in the space for the foreseeable future. I believe we can expect the monthly halving of returns to continue for some time. I am not even going to come close to breaking even. If I get back more than 50% of the BTC I invested I will consider myself lucky. Here is another chart. It shows my accumulated GM payouts in pink. The black line is an exponential which shows the break-even level. If the pink line is above the black line I will make a profit at the end of the contract.  I know my opinions may not be popular with people who have just bought contracts (you will be in denial), but I am really talking to people who are on the fence, about to commit. Think again - you will probably only get half your BTC back. I am not saying GM is a scam. I am just saying that the reality is that under present conditions their business model is uneconomic for us customers. GM have stated very clearly that they will not be upgrading 'old' customers like me, so basically everybody who has a GM contract is going to lose money, at least until the network hashrate stabilises some time way in the future. The only people who are going to make money are GM. All you people who are feeling smug about the 'free' upgrade you just got - you will be feeling like me in a month or two when history repeats itself - and even worse when your contract expires and you have lost half your BTC. If the rate of returns suddenly improves and I turn out to be full of BS I will not only have egg on my face - I will also have a big smile on my face! I have 18 BTC in the game. Well, under present conditions, yes, things are not looking bright, but I don't know how long you've been around, but the present is never a good measure for the future. Things can change and will change. For better, or for worse. That's all in the game. My suggestion to everybody who's just in it for big profit, carefully consider what you are doing. From my point of view, yes, profit is nice, as that will allow me to invest more, but I'm also in it for the greater good. Keep the mining going on, keep the coins alive (though I wouldn't mind if over half of them go extinct), even at a loss. And that's not something I want to do at home, so I'm grateful for the excellent service GM is providing (and they're not the only one) since, amongst other things, they allow me to point my hashrate where I want it (Megacoin of course...). Means you had left the registration to him entirely?! And your business as well: Later I found out that he registered my business under his name. As I write the legal mess is still going on.
Actually, how far is this process? I can see on the Companies House pages that there's been changes to director's and secretary's but the only name I see is Esteban. Furthermore, the secretary's details changed twice, in April and in June, and both times Esteban is mentioned. I cannot see the details as that would require me to cough up some pounds and I've invested all my spare change in mining  Esteban’s name is still present in the company registration, because some names, like shareholders, can’t be changed until the next tax return date.
And when do you think you'll be able to get rid of him? When is that tax return date? And doesn't that need his cooperation? In february I met Esteban, a web designer, in a London bar, we started to talk about Bitcoin and he told me he could build our website. He showed me his portfolio and I saw other Bitcoin websites and I agree to hire him, some of these sites later turned out to be scams. I realized I didn’t want to work with this guy.
So.... Who's doing the technical stuff of your website now then? You're busy on all sorts of changes, but you don't have the skills to pull this off. Doesn't mean you know nothing, but most websites dealing with coins in some way are targets for hackers and crackers and you better have excellent knowledge and skills around to deal with those sort of things This guy scammed me too in other ways, that I won’t discuss as there is a legal investigation going on. Once I find this fucker I’ll share this information with other victims.
From one scammed person to another, the chances of any kind of success are slim, and it takes a looooong time to get to that result. Of course I don't know how much money is involved. I've lost like 10,000 GBP along the way, and I've waved them bye bye. Though honestly, I wish I had it now though. And lastly, what nasty stuff did you find out about me?  |

bitcoincloudservices.com is similar to PBMining, with 5 year contracts and no additional fees, and a bit cheaper. Also no details on their mining operations. Big difference though is that they will be working on transparency, first by publishing TXID's on the dashboard page.
What if all these companies are no ponzi...
The mining argument is wobbly anyway. I don't think one single cloud company is actually mapping physical GH's to a user account. I rather think it's all shares. Must be, if they want to live up to the 24/7 mining claim. If your account is mapped to failing hardware then 24/7 mining is no more.

I've performed a broad-spectrum exorcism on my computer and it seems I have expelled the evil entity. Think I know what it was, though not exactly. But it wasn't even evil, just the results were

More and more people are joining (despite lack of evidence, but thanks to months and months of clockwork payments, I guess), and loading that page or reloading it takes a while. And I guess in a way only two things are interesting: your own entry in relation to others around you, and the top earners. Okay... A bunch of my posts and PM's of the last days have disappeared, including my reply to btccloudservices a few days ago. What I posted on July 1 was: Hello Gabriel, nice to meet you. To be honest, part of me was thinking this would be ignored, and part of me expected a quick and fairly general reassurance message with little to no (sensible) content. But your reply is a decent one. Thank you for taking the time. I appreciate it. I'm not as good with words today as I like, I'm a bit tired actually, but in short, I try and tell people to be careful, nothing more nothing less. I've referred quite a bunch of people in the past (and in the future, I hope) and I try to look out for bad signs. In your case, your sensible business setup also seems to be aligned for a quick getaway. The answers I got from the staff members weren't enough to take away the suspicious feelings completely. When I noticed the exact payments that was the drop. I'm not deliberately trying to discredit you or your business and I hope I haven't made that impression. I've pointed out a few facts and warned people to tread carefully. Which, I hope, is something people will always do before spending money on any kind of opportunity. The chance of depositing coins into a scam operation is disgustingly high nowadays. The longer existence, well, that's more a personal feeling. You have to start somewhere, and there's work to be done and nothing is perfect (yet). I understand. Though, development and frequent communications are a great help in such matters, so, I'm looking forward to the constant updates, hopefully here as well as on your website, as here there's also a bit of interaction possible. Very maybe, at some point, altcoins might gain a bit on Bitcoin. In the good ol' days (end of 2013) that happened a few times. This year is different and most likely will not be as spectacular as then, but it might still throw a few surprises
