Yup. A lot of local merchants in Canada accept it as money. I can actually go to a few bars near me and buy beer with Canadian Tire money. Tongue

It is a form of scrip actually, not money. It isn't legal tender here. It is "store credit". It is also completely unregulated by our government so it could be a good fit for Bitcoin.

I just added Canadian Tire money to Bitcoin4Cash.com, mostly for giggles. I'm also in the process of acquiring more of it. Cheesy

Here is a photo of what the scrip looks like: http://www.pennylicious.com/images/2006-09/canadian-tire-money.jpg It has standard security features such as microprint, raised ink, and planchettes.

The man on the notes is a fictional character called "Sandy McTire". Don't ask.  Roll Eyes

I have Canadian Tire money kicking around. Let me know if you want to trade Bitcoins for it. Wink

Okay, I emailed Stefan and PM'd Satoshi. I think it would be really neat if Stefan could produce a youtube video that contains an interview with Satoshi. Even if it is just a video that has Stefan reading an email of questions answered by Satoshi it would help Bitcoin a lot. Smiley

Hello Stefan,

Would you be interested in conducting an interview with the inventor of
Bitcoin?

Hmm.. Stefan hasn't responded to my 2nd email yet. I'll email him again in a couple of days. He's probably busy.
326  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Proposal: Mt. Gox + Bitcoin4Cash + Bitcoin2Cash = PayPal Problem Solved! on: October 19, 2010, 09:39:38 AM
Just an FYI: I offer rate discounts on larger Bitcoin cash buy orders ($500+).

I can also do Bitcoin sell orders with an international bank wire (SWIFT/ABA; favorable jurisdiction) at a great rate ($500 minimum).

On a side note slightly related to Freedomain Radio Im helping get the Keene Activist Center's new website started and have setup a mybitcoin account for them in the hope they will post a public donation bitcoin button on there.

Nice! Cheesy *shaking your hand* Great work!

Hello Sefan,

No problem. You deserve to get paid for your work. Smiley

One question: have you given any thought to accepting Bitcoin donations
directly on your website?

Subject: FDR Fundraiser Event

Hello,

I have started a fundraiser for FDR. So far there has been a lot of interest. I'm collecting Bitcoins (an alternative currency suitable for anarchists/cryptoanarchists) for the next 30 days. After 30 days, I will hand these funds over to you.

Here is the announcement on the Bitcoin forums regarding the fundraiser: https://www.bitcoin.org/smf/index.php?topic=1473.0

If you could please send me an email (themadhatter [A7] i2pmail.org), to confirm that all of this is acceptable that would be great.

I'm sure I could gather up at least $1000 (if not more) in 30 days. There are a lot of people on the Bitcoin forums who enjoy your videos/commentary/books.

Thank you,
The Madhatter

Oh sure. I'm trying to get him to directly adopt Bitcoin; it is my preference as well.

I figure if I don't hear from him I'll auction the coins publicly and have the winner drop PayPal into his account. Smiley

I have just contacted Stefan to tell him about the fundraiser. I'll post again once I get a reply. Smiley

Are you going to hire a proper web designer? It sure look ugly.

Nope. I want it to be fast and plaintext for search engine goodness.
335  Economy / Marketplace / Re: We accept Bitcoins on: October 15, 2010, 05:48:35 PM
From where do the ratings come?

Nowhere yet. I am working on a rating +/- setting. The current ratings are just arbitrary amounts.

My idea copy...

I actually had this idea 6 months ago, but never acted upon it until now. My site is free (possibly ad supported in the future); so there is a minuscule difference.

ACH (only works in the US)

That's not entirely true. ACH works in Canada/US and some (very few) countries in South America.
