I'm not taking a cash advance because the specific credit card charges a high fee plus a % of amnt advanced.

I'm simply using my available credit balance on my eBay MasterCard which has low interest and accrues me points with every purchase

How hard is this to understand?

I've been buying on localbtc this way without issue and it works.. No need to complicate things
322  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTB BTC have PP on: August 30, 2015, 03:31:57 AM
Trusted forum member, want to purchase about 7.5btc

Only funds I have avail are my eBay MasterCard saved onto my PayPal acct

WillIng to pay a bit over bitstamp and cover any PayPal fees
What is it exactly that you are smoking? Because I want some  Grin

Neither eBay nor MasterCard hold any funds in customer accounts, so mentioning either of these names are 100% irrelevant. If you have over $1,700 in your PayPal account then you should take the couple of days it takes to send it to your bank account to send it to your bank account and then buy with either a Cash Deposit or another method using cash. Doing so will save you a lot of money......unless of course there is a reason why you don't want to send to your own bank account Roll Eyes

If you knew what you were talking about I wouldn't be bothered by this post. But you must not use PayPal that much so I'll give you a pass

But there's a little thing when sending funds on PayPal that lets you switch funding sources.. It's an option in the middle of the send payment page, you can send funds from your bank, or your PayPal balance, or **gasp**Various credit cards one has saved on their account. Wow what a shocker isn't it?

324  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Speculate the correct date of S7 on sale at Bitmaintech and get 0.1 btc on: August 29, 2015, 06:54:51 PM
Congrats to the winner, whoever that is. But we could wait until the S7 actually come on sale, since at the moment the sales is greyed out. Unless it just got bought up instantly?

326  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has something happened to antpool? on: August 26, 2015, 11:26:59 PM
ive always figured antpool was so big it wouldnt need to worry about anything
What kind of reasoning is that?

its the simple minded folk reasoning Smiley  bigger hashrate generally would mean steady blocks found, but theres always variance and luck.

Heads-up: Canaan Creative have a completely revamped website presence.  As part of this change, Canaan Creative will be shutting down their forums at http://bbs.canaan-creative.com/ on September 26th, 2015.
If you have any posts, files, etc. there that you would like to keep, please be sure to archive them when you can (connectivity to the forum is spotty at best).

While I think it's a shame they're shutting it down (instead of just making it read-only and unlisted), at least they are announcing this well ahead of time, which is more than I can say for KnC, BFL and others.

Does anyone know if I can get the 4.1 to run off windows 7 with cgminer?
I don't see why not, but hopefully philipma1957 can say for sure.

332  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Has something happened to antpool? on: August 26, 2015, 08:39:05 PM
should i switch my gear on antpool from PPLNS to PPS?  makes me wonder what is going on as well.

ive always figured antpool was so big it wouldnt need to worry about anything so i stuck with PPLNS
333  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer s6 ? on: August 26, 2015, 08:37:52 PM

So people is speculating about s7 but they havent released the s6 yet ...

people having big hopes? it probably wont be released untill next year. and if there are some already made s7 they prob use them self Wink

there are two other threads on this.

and most of us would tell you the antminer s-5+ is the s-6  and for some reason only known by bitmaintech they called it the s-5+

Why would a company jump from a number  if they kept it nice and numbered since day 1?.

i think thatt they will put 2x s5+ on a server rack and call it s6 before the announce the real s7.

marketing tactics.

They make you happy whit some news, you save the money, they tell you that s6 will be released as the s7 protoypes are not even done yet Wink

yeah this could be, all they have to do is make an enclosure for it similar to the S2/S4
334  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN launches 4th generation Bitcoin mining ASIC: BM1385 on: August 26, 2015, 08:36:44 PM
i dont really understand the difference between the two, ill have to do some more research
335  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5+ is available to order, 7.722TH/S 0.445J/GH on: August 26, 2015, 08:36:04 PM
How long has it been now since BitMain has had S5-anything to sell?  I am starting to worry.

I'm not worried but I do wonder if they are done with the S5 gear.  The S5+ really is a nice miner lots of power in not much space.

But now they announced a new chip it's hard to say what they are doing.    Everyone knew this could be a one batch to use up a lot of old stock of chips.  It's looking more and more like this is true.

yeah it seems more and more likely that this was just a one time batch to clear out existing chips
336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Q] Underclock Antminer S1, without Pencil/resistor? on: August 26, 2015, 08:35:29 PM
so, just "undervolting" can i reach "185W" ?

it will always be 2 watts per GH unless you use pencil mod to reduce the voltage
337  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help with my s5 Temps on: August 26, 2015, 08:34:25 PM
Hello thanks for reading the thread.

I recently got a s5. It was super loud so I replaced the fan with a noctua 3000 rpm fan. However the temps were getting too hot so I reduced the frequency to 300. I also put a hardcover book against the bottom of the s5 and placed it vertically. Any ideas if the book helps or not? I saw other users put covers over the bottom so thats where I got the idea. The main issue is that I live in a desert so the ambient temperature is quite high. Temps are at 69 and 70 at the moment according to the antminer UI. I am going to purchase a normal indoor fan and put it under the s5, hope that helps.

Any ideas?

edit:

When I set the ant miner on a flat surface one board drops to 62 degrees and the other jumps to 71, what is the cause of the 10 degree difference between the boards? anybody else have this happen too?

you should put the stock fan back on, that noctua fan isnt going to cut it IMO.. unless you have two

339  Bitcoin / Hardware / Avalon 4.1 with a laptop as controller? on: August 26, 2015, 12:34:46 AM
So I'm wondering if I could run Avalon 4.1's without a raspberry pi or the TPLink router controller.

Is it possible to install the USB drivers on windows like a BFL monarch and just manually launch CGMiner or BFGminer?
340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN launches 4th generation Bitcoin mining ASIC: BM1385 on: August 25, 2015, 06:44:52 AM
Thanks Bitmain for creating a next-gen product for home miners!

Sorry, I haven't read this whole thread, but is there an ETA yet for when the S7 will be available?

no why not have some fun with these two threads

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1159185.0;all  free pick at the price.

you could get lucky cost is zip

I think part of reason of making this thread is to worry other makers.  They were smart to keep same nm and master it.  I think they will be able to make a lot by doing this.

I still wonder on time frame though.  Once they get producing them I predict a lot coming fast of the new product.

Well I think with the smaller nm chips there's a huge problem of power consumption.. Intel is dealing with this now on their new gen stuff in the works.. So Bitmain is the winner here even with LKETC and their 14nm.. The power draw from their new chip will be comparable to bitmains fully custom 28nm
