For some weird reason I always thought viacoin is somehow connected to litecoin... like a fork or something.. is it? Or is it completely different? Maybe all those mentions on the site, like litepad, litebit,litecoinpool etc...
But if via is somehow related to litecoin then you think it can benefit a little from this recent litecoin surge and popularity?

It's not a fork from litecoin. Different. Wel... Litebit & Litepaid.com are 2 Dutch companies. They don't have anything to do with Litecoin. Why do they have Lite in their name? I don't know, I will ask them one day, I'm curious. Viacoin auxpow merge mining with Litecoin is populair. You can mine Viacoin & Litecoin at the same time. Like on F2pool. That's it. |

I'd like to propose a bounty paid in Viacoin to Romano as targets on the roadmap are met, this gives him more of a stake in the project's success and incentive to deliver, I haven't seen anything much sent to his BTC donations addie last time I looked a week or so ago, anyway please post your Viacoin donation addie Romano and PM me when the next roadmap target is achieved then I'll donate $500 worth and will send 5,000 Viacoins today to say thanks for all the work that you've already put in, just buying them now.

There's so many new things that are possible for VIA that weren't before I joined, such as Segwit.

Please don't. Every coin that gets on FUpool becomes unminable due to the diff going through the roof. It's a sure way of centralising your network. HUC had the same problem, then they got off FUpool & miners came back & price has gone up ever since. SYS has the same problem, unminable due to FUpool pushing the diff into the stratosphere so price has stagnated even though the devs are doing some great work. True that, another option would be Suprnova, Litecoin & Viacoin merge mining. However prohashing is pro Bitcoin Unlimited, won't signal Segwit and maybe never will because they don't know how to implement in on their pool. If you are mining on a non-Segwit pool, you are actively voting against Segwit. Thank you for the info ! I've switched on Suprnova  Do I only need to mine 'scrypt' algorithm ? Hi guys ! Can someone help me to mine Viacoin ? I really don't know how to start  Is it worst to do this with a 1060 GTX card ? Anyway, very good job for the dev ! You'd be best finding a multipool that'll pay you in Viacoin, mining an algo other than scrypt. https://prohashing.com is good for that. Better not, prohashing.com is pro Bitcoin Unlimited and against Segwit. They said they want to support Segwit for Viacoin but they don't know how to implement Segwit support for their pool. I may add Viacoin to my own pool after Testing, but right now F2Pool would be an option. |

And yes it's true I do run a SegWit ready pool on my own.
Never had much miners on my pool because it's pretty new but not better than other major pools atm.
It was ment to mine some special altcoins.
And yes it does allow me to test Viacoin mining.
Like prohashing.com who has Viacoin mining doesn't know how to support Segwit. I offered my help but no reaction. Alright pride is always a thing I guess :/

I read it a while ago. Like I said, why rush it? There's no need for it yet & implementing it before pools are ready only pushes miners away. I commented about this in the previous thread & dev thanked me for the heads-up, then BAM - it's happened anyway. It doesn't make any sense to do it before miners/pools are ready for it.
thats why its being tested extensively, dev could have released it untested a long time ago just like some other coins did and then faceplanted on bugs that led to hardforks and problems. i cannot comment on pool readiness but afaik dev has been in contact with major pools, and also runs a segwit ready pool I talked about it in the Viacoin telegram. Yes rushing is useless. Right now I'm concentrating on fixing more on the vialectrum client side wallet. So here's what I said in the Viacoin telegram room. "Romano RNR: I need to do some final fixes on electrum. Got a small issue to fix. When that's fixed, I will execute the next steps. Electrum client will be Segwit ready & it's possible to support Ledger nano & Trezor The client needs to be renewed, because the 2014 one is unacceptable for a professional coin. And yes a lot of people use it, I don't want to hear any transaction problems when they start using it (like people will make a lot of transactions when Segwit singaling starts)" Romano RNR: "For are Avarage Joe's Electrum wallets are wallets that don't require to sync. You download the wallet, open it & ready to go. No hours waiting. For the busy business man. Also doesn't require a lot of space like the core wallet Now whales use electrum wallets offcourse. If it's not, create one. Close the electrum wallet, restart your computer. Electrum wallet should work again. I had this too once. I'm working on a renewing electrum and making it work better then ever. Personally, I always use the Viacoin core wallet. I also get this error. Restarting didn't fixed this. Btw anyone can setup an vialectrumx server.
If anyone wants to set one up, please do, I will add your server to the new vialectrum client I will be releasing.
Simple vps will be enough to handle load ? First up, I already posted the solution. https://github.com/vialectrum/vialectrum/issues/6Second, No not a simple VPS (Why most coins don't have electrum) but it's always good if community members do something like setting up their own server. That's to keep the network decentralized. Example: Amazon AWS servers go down & an electrum server is hosted on it. I fix the code etc, but everyone else has the power to keep it decentralized. |

Trust me Romano. Poloniex will re-list XCH if you get it up and running. You don't know me but i assure you I know what I'm talking about. Your doing wonders for VIA and deserve the praise you are receiving. Please keep XCH in your thoughts and see what you can do. The support is there from every direction. You just don't know it yet but it's there.
Well what could XCH do for people? I heard it's just one Bitcoin plus 'whale' owning most of the supply. It has become pretty centralized. And I didn't hear an official statement from Trex or Polo to relist it. |

I'm having a lot of problems trying to sync my wallet again. I have installed viacoin wallet as other times, puth there my wallet.dat backup and started to sync. All seems to go well, six connections, network downloading working nice, but when I get at height 22800 aprox sync stops and while network continues to donwload info, blockchain doesn't grow any more. Any ideas, viacoin.conf examples or similar to solve this. Never have this problem before  It probably keeps syncing but the gui interface isn't always correct. Bitcoin Core wallet often has/had this too. Try the CLI with the -getinfo command. |

By the way the project looks very promising. It even feels to me like some bitcoin 2.0 rather then another alt because of fixing problems that really matter.

I had a long break for cyber life. Can someone help me to move my via's from Clearwallet to new viawallet?
I am getting error "No ClearingHouse servers are currently available. Please try again later. ERROR: The server is not fully caught up to the blockchain. Please logout and try later. (Most likely this message is due to the server being updated.)".
I did put my phrase one word at a time but still get the same message. I opened a ticket, but no response at all.

Working on the Vialectrum client wallet now VialectrumX is done.
I see the new Electrum has plugins for Trezor & Ledger --> We can do a lot with it.
Also the Segwit transactions it has since few weeks ago
I'm almost done, just a few fixes.

what is the practical application of this coin? It will have tons of awesome tech but how and by whom will it be used? I am not that knowledgeable about these things. Can it be mined or can one stake it in wallets? Are there masternodes?is there a way enrich your viacoin holdings? It can be mined & merged mined with Litecoin. So you can mine Litecoins & Viacoins at the same time. |
