321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: October 13, 2014, 03:59:54 PM
Sounds very interesting! Can't wait to try it, if this thing works as advertized, this will be a major turning point!

Testnet 2 release today or tomorrow!

Are they going to try testing any apps in testnet 2? I remember reading something along those lines some time ago on the maidsafe forum. Either way it's good to see the project moving forward at a steady pace now.
322  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Brokering Domain Sale in BTC - any Escrow services out there? on: October 13, 2014, 07:13:08 AM
Devthdev provides a good escrow service. I've used him in the past and acts as an escrow for a lot of trades.
323  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Bitcoin price by end of 2014? on: October 13, 2014, 06:56:46 AM
This poll has to be rigged for a new ATH to get the most votes. Probably someone with sockpuppet accounts.
324  Economy / Speculation / Re: Urgent Update: Bottom is in. Time to Buy! on: October 13, 2014, 02:11:03 AM
Where exactly are these billions of VC dollars being invested into every month? I doubt bitcoin would do me much good in the face of an economic collapse unless it was already widely accepted for transactions.
325  Economy / Speculation / Re: Falllling is right again, Bitcoin will continue the downtrend on: October 13, 2014, 01:44:32 AM
I wonder how soon we'll be revisiting this thread....

Sooner than we may think. The same thing happened last time when we dipped to the high $300s and recovered to the $500s shortly thereafter. A lot of people said we'll never see those cheap coins again and then we dipped to the high $200s. The price may appear to be recovering right now, but there's no guarantee that it won't crash even lower on the next dip.
326  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: October 13, 2014, 01:29:37 AM
I'd rather buy LTC right now than BTC, as it's more likely to double in value before the end of the year. Ultimately though, I think innovative coins like maidsafe are a wiser investment right now.

If you are buying maidsafe for $$$, then it is a decent gamble. But I find it next to impossible to believe that maidsafe, Counterparty, Bitshares, etc. to have the upside that BTC can have due to their very nature, competition, young space, etc. Their have been arguments ad nauseum to this affect. That said, their is a bit more here happening than one can predict, and having some insurance, so to speak, would be both a prudent and "fun" thing. There is something to be said for just being in this space, taking part, etc.

IAS

I don't see why they can't gain in value relative to btc. I understand that no alt is in a position to overtake btc, as you have to acquire btc in order to buy most alts.
327  Economy / Speculation / Re: ARE WE HEADING UP OR DOWN? on: October 12, 2014, 04:40:42 PM
up. don't watch the price everyday. check it once a year

Do you check it once a year? Or is this one of those do as I say, not as I do scenarios?
328  Economy / Speculation / Re: I AM HODLING on: October 12, 2014, 04:27:29 PM
When bitcoin gets overtaken by an alt in the future, will you continue to hodl it?

Who do you think pumps these alts?

Who do you think pumps bitcoin?
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XPM] Ever heard of Prime Coin ? on: October 12, 2014, 04:17:02 PM
XPM is vulnerable to botnets, which is probably a major reason why it's not a contender anymore in the crypto world. I never bought into it, as it seemed to climb in price quickly when it first came out, and for no good reason. While it may have been more innovative than 99% of the scam coins out there, it was also pumped, dumped and forgotten.

332  Economy / Speculation / Re: BUY NOW! on: October 12, 2014, 06:29:56 AM
What make you think the price will be double even in this month ?

There is a general consensus that we are very undervalued right now.  Also, if past behavior predicts future behavior in regards to Bitcoins "bubbles" then we are due for one of them too.  We could even see 3 or 4 times the price it is now.  This happened last November.  The only thing about Bitcoin though is that it is not 100% predictable unfortunately. Wink  However, it is still a really good time to buy I believe.  We shouldn't get much lower than this.

Maybe a general consensus among the perma-bulls, but certainly no such consensus if you consider the full spectrum of bitcoin enthusiasts and observers. If past behaviour is any indicator of the trend over the last few months, then the price will recover to a point lower than the previous high, followed by a crash to a lower low. I guess it's quite possible that the price may not get much lower than this, but don't see any indicators pointing to another bubble or massive rally any time soon.

The price has been tested and re-tested.  It would be difficult to go any lower than it already has due to the number of people involved with Bitcoin now.  Sure, there can be some short term manipulation, and there already has be a bit of that.  It was the same last year though.  Many people did not expect a huge rise in price.  In fact, we had already had a bubble in April so it was not expected that there would be a second bubble.  Only when the price started to approach $200 was when the real panic buying ensued.

I expect that we might have a bumpy ride up to $600 again but when we pass $600 and then $700 that is when the rocket will ignite and it will be pushed up to a new ATH.  Will this be by the end of this year?  That I can't say of course.  But certainly by the next halving in 2016!

While most of us didn't anticipate last year's meteoric rise, there was a lot of fresh fiat coming onto the exchanges buying btc and the userbase was growing substantially, as well as all the media coverage. Even this forum had many new users flocking to it. I can understand your point that the larger userbase right now is capable of supporting a higher price, but all the factors that were present during last year's bull run seem to be absent right now.

It's impossible to predict where the price will be by the next halving, as that is a very long time away and the fundamentals may very well change drastically by then.

Just wondering where you guys think we are heading in the next two and a half months left of 2014? I think we will break the ATH before the end of the year.

It doesn't seem to me that there is a lot of fresh fiat Buying up btc right now. I would be surprised if we even end the year at half the ATH.
335  Economy / Speculation / Re: What are you doing now ? on: October 07, 2014, 05:50:08 AM
Watching and waiting. Not planning to sell any coins soon. I'll only consider buying more btc if the price stabilizes for a few months.
336  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just another bulltrap? on: October 07, 2014, 05:02:44 AM
I think the price is going to stay here for a while before we see another major shift. We've seen lower highs and lower lows in regards to the price of  BTC over the last few months, and if that pattern were to continue, then we may see a slight recovery followed by drop to the low $200s towards the end of the year.
337  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] Will we drop below $266 on: October 06, 2014, 02:07:19 AM
Looks like the majority are optimistic that BTC won't break the previous ATH.
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: nomoreheroes7 Calling the Bottom on: October 05, 2014, 02:43:00 PM
You heard it here first folks. $301 per BTC will NEVER be seen again.

Enjoy the ride up.

I'm pretty sure we'll see it several times today Cheesy
339  Economy / Speculation / [POLL] Will we drop below $266 on: October 05, 2014, 01:35:17 AM
Simple poll to get a feel for the general sentiment here regarding bitcoin's recent price movement.
340  Economy / Speculation / Re: some moron is basically giving bitcoins for free on: October 05, 2014, 01:02:12 AM
time to load up some next to free bitcoins before the moron runs out of coins to sell.

Maybe the morons are the ones buying the coins for what they perceive as being free...

Just saying, it can go both ways.
