Thank you very much for the update, synechist. Are there plans to do, say, a monthly update on this thread?
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Protein Folding Research based Proof of Work on: September 14, 2016, 07:58:33 PM
If you did some WUs before you were signed up on cryptobullionpools and folding for 224497 then I don't think you get credit for those.

Wow... that is super lame. Just because I didn't sign up for a site? That wasn't even mentioned in the tutorial as required? Lame.

I've noticed my times have doubled for the same amount of Credit to receive for a task. Anyone else notice this?

I think I'm done with this mining thing. Waste of energy for pennies, and my earlier credits are lost in oblivion simply because I didn't register on a site lol. Cut my losses. Peace.

Sorry you feel that way. It is actually step two in the guide.

https://www.curecoin.net/index.php/knowledge-base/12-knowledge-base/folding-for-curecoin/23-how-do-i-start-folding-for-curecoin

Quote
Windows:
Step 1:    Easy: Install the Google Chrome Folding WebApp (First Time or CPU-only Users)
                   -or-
Advanced: Install the Full Folding Client (Use CPU and GPU for Maximum Points)
Step 2:    Register with the Folding Pool

Some work units are worth less points per day than others and it is random which work units you will get, but it evens out over the course of a week. I find the variance to be far far lower than solo mining other coins.
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Protein Folding Research based Proof of Work on: September 14, 2016, 12:29:38 PM
But how do I link my computers to my cryptobullionpools.com account?

Not sure exactly what you're asking for here but if you're looking for the wallet software it is at https://www.curecoin.net/ on the right hand side of the page in the blue "Download Wallet" dropdown box.

Thank you.

What about the rest?

72,277
63,061
38,072

Are these not going to go to my account? Since they were mined in previous days, shouldn't they already have been paid out? But I only see the one for ~91k as 6 CureCoins... I'm confused as to what happened to them...

One last question, do the ~60k of FoldingCoin I had been mining before that, need to wait until the end of the month? I read that in this thread before I think, that it's per month payout?

Thank you for the help.

Not sure but it seems some of the folding you did was for team # 226728 which is not curecoin. If you did some WUs before you were signed up on cryptobullionpools and folding for 224497 then I don't think you get credit for those.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Protein Folding Research based Proof of Work on: September 14, 2016, 04:01:00 AM
On the web controller, it says my total is:

Quote
268,884 go to Team Curecoin's total of 46,192,082,327

At https://www.cryptobullionpools.com, it says:

Quote
Account Balance
6.078439 CURE

Is this accurate? 268,884 points = 6 coins?

Also, how do I get those coins out, say, to poloniex?

Thank you.

That number is the total points contributed to the team ever. The payouts for cure run from midnight to midnight EST. Your folding points for Sept. 12th were 91158

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=712151

The total points for the team that day were 112 374 712, therefore your payout should be ( 91158 / 112374712 ) * ~7488 or ~6.074241 depending on the exact number of blocks mined that day.

As far as getting the coins out, you just need to specify a withdrawal address in "My Account" on cryptobullionpools.com, and set the auto payout threshold to 1.

Just found this new thread thanks to xcurry's post in the Blocknet thread. Good to know XCurrency is still alive and kicking. Thanks xcurry! Smiley

Since I'm not on slack I haven't been able to find any info about this coin since around 2 years ago, as the thread and website went defunct...so I am just wondering what's been happening and where it's at today. When I was last following it, version 3.0 was around the corner, and it was still closed source and therefore not trustless...and I think there was an android phone wallet app in the works. So I'm just gonna throw a few questions out there and if anyone can help get me up to speed that would be awesome!

What version is XCurrency on now, and is the current version open source?
How does the anonymity compare to say XMR or SDC...or even a BTC mixing service given advanced blockchain analytics? I know DASH relies on trusting masternodes so it is not trustless.
Is the p2p encrypted messaging also trustless and open source?
Any news on the mobile wallet?
Also regarding Blocknet...can an Ethereum smart contract interface with the decentralized exchange? For example: Could a smart contract be created where someone could send Ethereum to it which would then be exchanged for a different coin and sent anonymously to a different user?

Also just a heads up: The block explorer at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xc/ says the hosting has expired, and the twitter account points to http://ww12.xc-official.com/ rather than www.xcurrency.co

Sad

I had the same problem when I was setting up the other day. I figured it was because I am using the new beta version 7.4.15. If you are using that version you could try using the current stable version 7.4.4 instead.

I was able to get the newer version working, though. Open up the advanced control client, and click on the "Configure" button in the top left, then select the "Slots" tab. Now you have to remove and re-add each device manually.

WARNING: When you do this you will lose all progress on any work units you are working on. You should set those devices to "Finish" and wait until they are done the current WU before you do this. If you leave them on "Fold" they will automatically download a new WU and begin working on that when they are done the current one so make sure you set them to "Finish".

Click "Add", then select "GPU" instead of "CPU". Now in "gpu-index" and "opencl-index" you have to manually enter the number corresponding to the GPU in that slot. The numbers start at 0 and go up as high as one less than the total number of GPUs in your system. (In my case I have 4 GPUs and device 3 corresponds to the GPU in the primary slot on my motherboard, and device 1 corresponds to my other full-size slot. Devices 0 and 2 correspond to my PCI-E x 1 slots.) I left "cuda-index" at -1 (autoselect) since all of my GPUs are AMD. If you have nvidia GPUs you may have to enter a number here as well and leave "opencl-index" at -1 but I am not sure.

Here is a pic for clarification:

EDIT: Note that MSI Afterburner assigns totally different numbers to each GPU, so you can't rely on that to know which opencl device is which. In my case I have ethereum installed on my machine so I was able to use ethminer.exe --list-devices to see what's what.

Hi all. I am trying to set up Ethereum Wallet 0.8.0 (Win64) and geth 1.4.9 so they point to a different directory than the default ones for the chain data and settings on startup. I already know about the --datadir flag for geth but am wondering if it's possible to use a config file so I don't have to type it out every time or is a batch file my only option? Same thing for Ethereum Wallet except in addition to the chain data/keystore folders I also want to point to a different folder other than C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\Mist for the settings, and also disable the 'download newest version' window on startup.

Basically I want to be able to have both forked, and non-forked versions of the wallet and geth on the same windows machine without deleting the chaindata folder or typing out long command line paramaters every time I want to start it up. Is there a good guide for this somewhere?

Thanks.

wallet wont stay synced anymore, cant even send eth out just sticks

Did you start watching the DAO Contract on version 0.7.2? That causes issues with freezing, transactions not working, and 'invalid date'

https://github.com/ethereum/mist/issues/525

You can fix it by reverting to 0.6.2
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: May 10, 2016, 08:47:04 AM
hi newbie here.......      I downloaded win 64 0.7.2  wallet     it says node needs to synch ........how long does it take to sync ?   and it says listening on {::}:30303

......is this normal ?....am I on the right track ?..

You do not need to download geth separately. It is included with the mist wallet. If it is downloading properly you should see something like this:

You may have to sync your system clock with one of the NIST time servers. Click the clock > Change date and time settings > Internet Time tab > Change settings > Select server time.nist.gov > Update now

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is there a Windows or Linux dual miner (ETH + Decred ) for Nvidia cards?

I don't think there is one for nVidia cards. The AMD one is here:

I have old version of mist with some coins. How can i upgrade mist to newest version and recover (not lost) my coins?

You can just delete the wallet folder and put the new folder in. As long as the user\appdata\roaming\ethereum\keystore folder is untouched it's fine.

EDIT: If you're not sure about deleting the old folder you can just keep it and run the new version from the new folder and make sure it is working first before you delete the old one.

Also the 0.7.2 version appears to be broken currently if you try to watch the DAO contract, but 0.6.2 seems to be working fine. See here:

This looks very nice coin.

I'm going to test mining with my pc on this coin. anyone can tell me where to find best guides?
I'm using intel i7-4790k @ 4.8ghz and gtx 970.

Thanks in advance.

Sir, I wrote one of the most detailed posts out for mining ethereum on the web at the ethereum forums. I'm very active there and please don't hesistate to ask if I can help you get set up:

https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/5592/how-to-mine-get-started-fast-and-easy-for-windows-7-detailed-guide/p1

Dude was in the polo trollbox the other day and wasn't getting the payouts he should have from nanopool given his hashrate. Also I was mining for suprnova.cc and wasn't getting what I should have. Someone turned me on to ethermine.org using the stratum qtminer and I told this other guy about it too and both of our payouts went up almost 50% higher using ethermine.org. I would suggest that one on in your tutorial.

Also I would mention AMD cards' BIOS is set so that it loosens the timings on the VRAM every 125MHz. The best mem clock settings for AMD cards are either 1250, 1375, 1500, or 1625, etc....whichever is the highest one of those your card can stably do.
Why is the memory clock at all important? Height clocking RAM to me is not important. I set it to a minimum in order to save electricity. Only important is the speed of the GPU. Increase the speed of RAM on the graphics card to me is  important (hashrate is the same and for  50 and 1500 MHz).

First off, you just completely contradicted yourself. You say "height" clocking RAM is not important, and then go on to say "increase the speed of RAM on the graphics card to me is important". Are you talking about system RAM? Because I am only talking about VRAM here.

That aside, overclocking the memory has no significant impact on power draw on most cards as you can't change the memory voltage, and I never even advocated overclocking the VRAM. A lot of AMD cards come at 1400MHz..it is better to set those to 1375 as 1500 would be unstable. It is more about having the right clocks than highest clocks, but if you can go higher and still be 100% stable without drawing more power, why wouldn't you? I have found that the gain in hash rate is significant by having higher memory clocks.

Also, to say that the hash rate is the same as at 50MHz and 1500MHz is laughable. Afterburner doesn't even allow you to clock it lower than 625, and even if it were possible by some other means such as BIOS modding it would not be recommended.

-snip-

Not sure exactly what it was that changed the amount of allocated vram but anyway it works now in case anyone else was having the same problem maybe setting one of those 2 environment variables will help? Maybe someone has more insight on a more elegant solution?

had the same issue with my r7 370 2gb;
adjusted the environment variables as you mentioned in the earlier post, cleared my DAG and all was resolved.
much appreciated, thanks;
btw, did you manage to find any other solution for it?
it only improved the allocated memory from 1.4sth gbs to 1.87sth gbs the rest memory up to the 2.048gb will not be accessible/allocated?!

I played around with it a little bit more and it seems those two variables were not doing anything so I deleted the keys from the registry. I have not yet figured how to get allocated mem above 1.87, but it won't be a problem for a while, and there could be a miner that can chunk the DAG by that time, so I will cross that bridge later.

The real price of Ethereum is the cost of the mining of the Ethereum. So it is around $2-5 each at present.
you must be joking 1 eth mining cost way more that 2$ or 5$ i have 123mhs and im only making 1.75 a day at this point...
continuing this drop soon as a coin gives more im living ethereum until better days....

Find a better pool or solo mine. You should be earning like 2.1ETH/day or so.

how do u expect 2 Eth with 123mhashes ?

Any idea why price is going down on each day ?
