Next we're going to start working on a demo version of Instant Transactions ( https://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/InstantTX.pdf). It's going to take a lot of work to lay the foundation, soon after we'll be calling for some testnet users to try it out and report back. What a ridiculously elaborate scheme. It uses voting among nodes to reach consensus, that makes it instantly flawed in my opinion. Cryptocurrency is supposed to be trustless, based on math and not votes. Also, Cryptonite already supports secure 0-conf transactions using far better approach which is more secure and less complicated. But to be fair that solution only applies to mini-blockchain coins. You misunderstand the word voting, read the white paper, its not like users sit there and manually vote.

It's very good Tsuyoku. The only thing I would query is the notion that all of Darkcoin's code will suddenly become open source on the 29th. It's only Darksend that's been closed, the rest of it has been open source for sometime. Maybe this bit Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin will be opened and published. Darkcoin will become the first open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry.
it should be reworded to "Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin's Darksend technology will be opened and published. This is the final piece of the overall system to be opened up. Darkcoin will then become the first fully open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry." +1 OK, I've made that change to the text. Is everyone happy with this: Darkcoin Passes Security Review, Prepares to Open SourceSecurity researcher Kristov Atlas has concluded his code review and security audit of Darkcoin. He was solicited by the developers of Darkcoin, based on 4+ years of professionally reviewing C/C++ software, to review the code and suggest any changes which could improve the software. Kristov Atlas concluded that Darkcoin's claims of functional anonymity are well-founded. He did suggest a few concerns, which the Darkcoin team immediately fixed (the fixes will be released Monday as part of the next scheduled update to the Darkcoin client). Mr. Atlas' primary concern was that a bad actor could launch a so-called Sybil attack against the network. Evan Duffield, lead developer of Darkcoin, closed this potential attack vector and in doing so also found a way to increase the overall anonymity of Darkcoin transactions. The new update to Darkcoin, "Release Candidate 5" (RC5), will be made publically available Monday, September 22. It fixes the concerns raised by Mr. Atlas, increases anonymity, fixes bugs, and improves the user experience by implementing a new interface. After eight months of continuous improvement, the developers of Darkcoin are confident that the currency is finally ready to meet the scrutiny of coders world-wide. Duffield has announced that on September 29, the source code of Darkcoin's Darksend technology will be opened and published. This is the final piece of the overall system to be opened up. Darkcoin will then become the first fully open-source, decentralized, anonymous crypto-currency in the industry. Future plans include the adoption of a new Instant Transactions technology which Duffield has described in his whitepaper [https://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/InstantTX.pdf]. This technology will allow Darkcoin to compete with other nearly instantaneous transaction systems such as credit cards. If successful, such an idea could revolutionize crypto-currencies by providing a decentralized payment system usable in retail stores and other face-to-face situations. The delay between sending and confirming transactions would be reduced from one hour (with currencies such as Bitcoin) to as little as twenty seconds. A future press release will describe the system in greater detail. The Darkcoin client and more information can be obtained at their website: http://www.darkcoin.io. About Darkcoin: Bitcoin works with an unprecedented level of transparency that most people are not used to dealing with. Every transaction that has ever happened is stored permanently in a ledger that is made public for the world to see, forever.
Darkcoin solves this problem by implementing an ahead-of-time CoinJoin implementation called Darksend. A user that wants to be anonymous can use the built-in technology to utilize the Masternode network to make their transaction nearly impossible to track.Contact: evan@darkcoin.ioCommunity: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc5-launching-september-22nd.2382/Future Press Releases: http://www.darkcoin.io/media.htmlVery nice job! We are well represented in the Press Release department. I have the same question as others, what time should I be ready to update my nodes? "Atlas noted a few issues of concern which were immediately forwarded to the Darkcoin team and subsequently addressed."

Shojayxt's mining rig, no wonder he's upset with dark What about the 3dfx Voodoo II 12mb SLI he purchased on the dip and is about to sell on the pump? Should have had the covers off for that one. Good lord, I had this exact system circa 1995/96, same cdrom and case., 486 dx2 66...screamer. taught myself to program with watcom.

A bios mods is not the answer to something no other algos since scrypt have had issues with (elpedia memory).
That aside, I didn't believe in the chinese mega-miner man, but it appears since v7.0 XMR world hashrate has increased by 20%. GG nix version.
I haven't noticed a decrease in income with v7 (relative to what I should be getting), I have however noticed a big increase in XMR world hashrate though.
Ive noticed the hashrate jumping back and forth from 20 to 25mhs the last few days. Which sucks because that 20% is my profit margin. This collapsing price isnt helping either

I cannot see any different in speed between 7.0 and 6.1 for windows in fact the new one is slower
is there's any reason for this or does the new one has different settings?
My profits were literally cut in half with 7.0, ive noticed the dev fee is now hard coded so miner proxy doesnt work, but 5% doesnt explain the massive drop. Im running 20khs so the difficulty is rather high and i only find a share every few minutes. I suspect when it switched back to my pool im hashing old work. Ive switched back to 6.1, I mined over 300 xmr with the dev fee on, thats plenty. Which proxy do you use? miner proxy, the one posted earlier in this thread

QUESTION: Miner has no GPU temperature control feature yet, what software do you use for it in Linux? If it's a problem, I'll have to implement this feature at first.
I'm running cgminer along with all GPUs disabled. You cant do that because it will still take up the GPU memory Says who? what are you doing to disable all the gpus? ive tried -disable-gpu on sgminer but card 0 still mines, im sick of using afterburner, its temp control is buggy on all my rigs and has a habit of just shutting the fans off when on auto. ive got them locked at 100% right now and its pretty loud.

Kristov Atlas lost my respect when he kept promoting a closed source instamined, centralized coin named "Darkcoin". The name sucks, the instamine is horrible, the centralization should be avoided. There is not much more to talk about. Please send this post to Kristov and ask him to take a look on Cryptonote coins instead.
Quick change the topic and attack the messenger, you win for both straw man and ad hominem.

Seems people have many troubles with downloading blockchain. Still can't understand why devs won't upload blockchain to mega as a mirror. I'll never download blockchain from untrusted source these days and ever.
The trouble isn't with downloading it, that works just fine. The trouble is with us updating the Windows download to a non-forked one, which necessitates us first finishing off this block-pinning code. Why is the op blockchain over a month old? The post says its kept current, but its not. I still had to sync 12 days when i download for the 8.8.2 upgrade after the last attack. On an average connection getting through 12 days should not take long at all. it takes about 4 hours on my 15mbps, but that wasn't my point. my point was the block in the op was a month old, before this attack, it is supposed to be current. I want to know what current means because right now 30 days take me all day to download while locking up my system to near uselessness.

Is all the dark coin source code fully available? Someone on a trollbox said they were releasing the source a few days ago, but I don't know if what he said was true.
2-3 weeks after rc5 testing is complete, (now in progress) https://darkcointalk.org/threads/rc5-testing.2245/Has a limited amount of source code been released? Blockjoe says he's checked the code.
I was there the week when the coin was launched, I've checked the code.
darksend is closed, the rest of the code is the just bitcoin code.. blockjoe hasnt checked anything of importance.
