321  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dear MT GOX - Stop accepting Dwolla for BTC, use Dwolla only for payouts on: June 12, 2012, 03:36:48 PM
I'd really love to see mtgox submit to regular independent audits to insure they have the fiat and coin balances to cover their accounts. Quarterly would be nice. It's one of the reasons I dont leave large balances there.

We will love this too, however in our case this is not as easy as some want to believe. We contacted several companies for that, and all came with some rather impressive cost estimation, something that is far beyond what we are currently paying for our law firm (Details in our last transparency doc). This would also involve us paying  for their travel expenses in six different countries and stay there as long as they feel it is necessary to complete the audit.

We are not against the audit, hell we would love to get this done and not only for us but for any anyone, but this will come to a cost that will have an impact on how our customers are using Mt.Gox today.

Hello, what would you consider a reasonable price for these audits?

I have a family member who is a CPA in the USA. This person has a long resume which includes major accounting firms, major financial firms and various Government Financial Crimes Units. He/she specializes in financial audits, forensic accounting and US tax laws. I don't know what the fee is but I can make introductions if you are interested.
322  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scam Report Against CryptoXchange $100k USD on: June 12, 2012, 03:19:29 PM
The problem with that is that we all know Ken is honest and that CryptoXChange has a flawless reputation.

I wouldn't say they have a flawless reputation.  We don't all know that.

I've heard rumors that they had major litecoin solvency issues which they swept quietly under the rug, and that is why you can't trade litecoin anymore.

Another rumor I heard was that their registrations and compliance are overstated and that they don't have any financial service business registrations and they are effectively registered as a software company.

I don't know if either of those are true, could have just been trolls.  Heard from anonymous internet strangers, so take that as you will.

Doesn't matter to me though, I've never liked their business style (excessive ads, "24-hour support" that isn't always available, gold coin pricing errors, etc.) . This thread just seals the deal.

I think this may be the end of CXC

It's a bit difficult to distinguish rumours from news on the internet but it's not very difficult to do a google search:

http://www.abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=12140244828
http://www.search.asic.gov.au/cgi-bin/gns030c?juris=9&hdtext=ACN&srchsrc=1&acn=140244828
http://whois.domaintools.com/bitcoinminingrigs.com.au

These sites confirm what is posted on the CryptoXchange website:

Australian Owned and Operated by Kenseycol PTY LTD,
Trading as “Crypto X Change”
64 McNamara Street Orange,
New South Wales 2800
Australia
Business Registration Information

So unless they pasted a random company's info, it looks legitimate.

In reference to liquidity, unless the exchange(s) used customer's fiat deposit for personal use, I fail to see how an exchange would become illiquid.

Thanks for the reply CryptoXchange,

I understand charging 1% or so for Bullion purchases (which is fair in my opinion), but charging for deposits originating from a bank would probably deter many potential customers.

.60% doesn't sound like alot but all these fees start adding up especially for certain trading styles. I believe other traders would probably agree with me in saying that we want more volume, more volatility and less fees.

By the way, is it possible for you to work out a deal with MTGox and eliminate code fees when transferring between the two? At the moment, its cheaper to use MTGox codes rather than using CryptoXchange codes->Bitinstant->MTGox. Maybe offer Bullion drop shipping for MTGox customers in return, idk?

Cheers!

EnergyVampire

P.S. The new trading engine seems to be working smoothly. Good job!
324  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto X Change - What would YOU the community like to see and join us???? on: February 29, 2012, 04:52:40 PM
Hello, I have a couple of questions:

Q1: Your main page states "NO BANK Wire costs or Bank Fees!! Cost is $5 + 0.6% to deposit and withdraw" but your blog and Fees page states "$5 Flat Fee - deposit or withdraw with any supported currency." So which one is correct?

Q2: If I understand correctly, you charge to make a fiat currency deposit. Does this mean you don't want anyone to deposit fiat currency?

Thanks in advance for your reply, cheers!

Why not simply focus on the Cryptocurrencies and avoid Fiat trades? Traders can use their own Fiat exit of choice once the cryptocurrency is in their own wallet. (this could possibly avoid govt regulations since its simply Virtual Goods trades)

It would be nice to have the network act as escrow (8+ nodes as so) confirming the terms of the trade.
Orderbook, trade history and escrow is the bare minimum, in my opinion.
So a trader submits a Limit order wanting to buy Bitcoins with Namecoins, the network takes the bitcoins and places it into an escrow account, then waits for a matching order. Partial fills okay, Fill-or-Kills, and time limits enforced.

Oh, and the network collects the fees for acting as escrow.

Just thinking out loud.

1. Trust
2. Security
3. Tranparency
4. Low Trading Fees
5. Fast Executions on Market Orders
6. Features (Level II order book is a must; trade history starting with time)
7. At least one(1) Free Fiat Withdrawal per month.
8. Customer Service

Well, at least this is what I like in order of importance. Cheers!
327  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ecoinpool - A brand new pool mining software written in Erlang on: February 16, 2012, 09:14:44 PM
Hello,

I received this error a few times today on the namecoind debug.log:

Code:
ERROR: ConnectInputsHook() : name_firstupdate Cannot be mined if name_new is not already in chain and unexpired

Have I setup the auxchain wrong somehow? I installed namecoin version 32464 to try and do some merged mining. I haven't found any blocks but I am getting valid shares from couchdb.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Cheers!

Just installed 2.2.4 on WinXP Catalyst 11.6.

It did not generate the .bin files for me.  I tried multiple times with different command line options and rebooted and tried again.

I copied my renamed .bin files over from the previous install and am working now.
Thanks,
Sam
I know this has been long standing, but there is more debugging in newer versions. Just once more for my crying pleasure, can you start it with --verbose -D -T (without any bin files in the directory) and give me the full output please?

Here you go.  Let me know if you need anything else.  I appreciate it.
Thanks,
Sam

330  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ecoinpool - A brand new pool mining software written in Erlang on: February 12, 2012, 12:07:43 AM
Well that actually shouldn't work because bitcoin is not fully synced to the network... if you get errors before block 166359 (at the time of writing) is reached, don't blame it on ecoinpool.

@EnergyVampire: Your issue should be fixed. Just pull the new version.

Thanks, p2k! This works great, cheers!
331  Economy / Goods / Re: Buying Eve Online PLEX on: February 11, 2012, 05:59:49 PM
Gabi sells 'em, pretty reliable so far.

Cool, thanks.

By the way, the ISK price for PLEX started plummiting not too long ago. It was ~493 M yesterday and about 2 hours ago I bought for ~470 M or so.
332  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox not processing deposits? on: February 11, 2012, 05:26:33 PM
Their website works fine for me (Eastern USA), but I sent some BTC about 4 hours ago and it still doesn't show up in my MTGox account.

My BTCs has been credited into my  MTGox account (about 1.5 hours ago).

334  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ecoinpool - A brand new pool mining software written in Erlang on: February 11, 2012, 03:40:53 PM
Hello EnergyVampire,

you need to be able to access the ecoinpool mining port you specified from your browser. The link in that error message should directly take you there (click it!), presenting you a greeting message. If your browser cannot connect to ecoinpool in this way, you either have too restrictive firewall settings (if not running on localhost only) or ecoinpool crashed because of bad configuration or it's unable to connect to bitcoind or bitcoind is still loading the blockchain or ecoinpool is unable to connect to CouchDB and other reasons which are fatal for ecoinpool.

If you get an error message, try to paste it on pastebin.com after you read this guide and send the link as a pm here or contact me on IRC. Maybe I can help you then.

p2k

Thanks for the reply p2k,

The link to your guide didn't work for me but I believe I found the guide elsewhere on your site.

When I followed my linked port, I get:
Code:
{"result":"Welcome! This server is running ecoinpool v0.3.17 by p2k. You have reached one of the coin mining ports meant to be used with coin mining software; consult the mining pool's homepage on how to setup a miner.","error":null,"id":1}

at the terminal, I get:
Code:
** Reason for termination ==
** {{case_clause,{error,[],function_clause}},
    [{ecoinpool_db,handle_cast,2,[{file,"src/ecoinpool_db.erl"},{line,213}]},
     {gen_server,handle_msg,5,[{file,"gen_server.erl"},{line,597}]},
     {proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3,[{file,"proc_lib.erl"},{line,227}]}]}

I hope I followed your instructions correctly. Does my browser make a difference? I use the Gnome webbrowser and Iceweasel.

Hello,

I want to start using the donate feature in CGminer and was just wondering: Does it take the donation as I mine or after I find a block while solo mining?

Thanks in advance for your reply, cheers!
338  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ecoinpool - A brand new pool mining software written in Erlang on: February 11, 2012, 07:17:00 AM
Hello,

I've been trying to play with this for solo mining.

I get the error "User ID Request Failed: While requesting a new user ID, the pool server did not respond in time. This usually means that the pool server is down or currently unreachable."

The terminel says:
Code:
[default/error] Could not start share logger default_couchdb_share logger, reason: {already_started, <0.157.0>}
[default/error] Could not start share logger default_logfile_share logger, reason: {already_started, <0.161.0}
This is followed by a Crash Report in the terminal.

Also on the ebitcoin page the Last Block is "(not implemented yet)".

Note: bitcoind is up-to-date with the latest block #166291.

Thanks in advance for your reply, Cheers!

Is there a graph of pool luck somewhere?

https://www.eclipsemc.com/block_stats.php column # 6 "Luck" although you need to be logged in to see it.

Cheers!
