261  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why is CryptoXChange so slow? Or is it just me? on: June 22, 2012, 05:38:44 PM
The IP is still located in Blacktown, New South Wales, Australia (afaik).

I'm aware of two changes going on at CryptoXChange that may or may not be a cause:

1. Their launch of MrBitcoins
2. Fixing the Order Matching Engine ( I notified them of a serious design flaw (bad code/bug) which they supposedly are fixing since last week. )

CryptoXChange hasn't been very active on these forums lately.

Hello cgpgroup,

Are the new changes implemented yet?
263  Economy / Gambling / Re: [Block# 187000] Bitcoin Wallet Auction (Wallet Minimum Payout= 10 BTC) on: June 22, 2012, 04:14:09 PM
I used the http://mycryptcoin.com/?rid=1AaEsKbEQqaaomybYT7P8YUydSsUyovT7k faucet to get it started. I will probably continue to use the faucet to add to the wallet.
264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Idea for a site - Bitcoin Sweepstakes. on: June 22, 2012, 03:39:11 PM
Imagine you have a race ,could be a horse race or a car race or whatever. Like the Melbourne Cup in Australia.

Each horse, car, participant is given a bitcoin address to deposit too. To enter people supply a withdrawal address and pay the entry fee against their choice of participant. When the race is finished and a winner is known whoever bet on the winner gets the losers money divided by however many people chose the winner. Possibly you could have more than one winner.

The site would receive  a small cut from the losers pot to pay for itself. This would be fun to do at something like the world cup for soccer or even an olympic 100m final dont you think ? Especially if everyone could meet in a chat room and watch the race together  Cheesy

Nice idea, bitcoin.me. How would you adjust the odds when/if they changed?
265  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook removes his "credits" and introduces local currencies on: June 22, 2012, 03:02:55 PM
My guess: Yes, but only a fiat-to-btc exchange, not the other way around.
Also, it would not be very conveniente, because you would loose 30% on every transaction...

But could it be useful for someone nonetheless?

Losing 30% on every transaction will send the business to the poor house in a very short time. Unless, the 30% FB fee only applies when cashing out?

266  Economy / Goods / Re: GCX: Gaming Currency Exchange (Eve, SL, MTGO, Request Others) on: June 22, 2012, 02:54:21 PM
Hello Luceo,

I like your idea of trading Eveonline GTC (ETC). This type of trade isn't in violation of CCP's EULA since it's an out-of-game item, right?
267  Economy / Gambling / [Block Games] Bitcoin Wallet Auction + Kickback (Discussion Thread) on: June 21, 2012, 10:56:39 PM
[Block Games] Bitcoin Wallet Auction + Kickbacks (Balance= 1 BTC, Highest Bid= 0.30)
Play for Fun & Profits!

BTC Wallet: 1EkXYzFMiHgHDenrjZVcpLYXwiL4aNWye8
Updated: Block 187938
Wallet Balance: 1.00 BTC
Largest bet: 0.30 BTC
Ending Block: 188000
Results Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=91137.0

The largest confirmed transaction into the pot from now until we reach the Ending Block# 188000 wins all the Bitcoins deposited into the wallet!
(Minus the Kickback Pot and my fee)

It is that simple, Guys. It is an All-Pay Auction with an early bidder incentive.

Auction Rules
  • The Jackpot is 90% of the total amount deposited into the wallet.
  • The Kickback Pot is 5% of the total amount deposited into the wallet.
  • My take is 5%.
  • There is no maximum bet size, so bet as much and as often as you like.
  • All payouts will go to the same address the transfer came from approximately 24 hours after Block #188001.
  • Any transfers into this wallet after the Ending Block will be considered a donation.
  • I will make donations out of my fee.
Kickback Pot Rules
-Each bet has a chance of getting shares.
-Shares per bet is (Bet Block - Ending Block)
-Each share is worth (Kickback Pot)/(Total Shares)
  • The following 3 criteria must me met to receive shares of the Kickback pot:
  • 1. The bet doesn't win the Auction.
  • 2. It was the highest bet included in a block prior to the Ending Block.
  • 3. Ensuing block has a higher bet.

Winning and payout Example:
Player A Bets: 10 BTC Included in Block 187100
Player B Bets: 20 BTC Included in Block 187300
Player C Bets: 30 BTC Included in Block 187300
Player D Bets: 40 BTC Included in Block 188000

Total Deposits= 100 BTC
Kickback Pot = 5 BTC
Total Shares = 1600

The Winner would be Person D.
Player D gets 90 BTC
Player A gets 2.8125 BTC (900 shares x 0.003125)
Player C gets 2.1875 BTC (700 shares x 0.003125)
Player B gets 0 BTC (outbid in same block)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q1: What if there are two or more transfers with the highest amount?
A1: Equal split for the winners.

Q2: What happens to my BTC if someone makes a bigger transfer into the wallet?
A2: You lose them but you might have a chance to win kickbacks.

Q3: Why are you complicating the auction with shares?
Q3: As a reward for early bets because the previous auction had no incentive making sniping the optimal strategy. Unfortunately the Ending Block was found in the middle of the night when the potential players where asleep.

Q3: Where is the wallet located?
A3: Cold Storage

Q4: Do I need to post here after I make the transfer?
A4: Posting is not required, the blockchain is proof.

Q5: Is there a minimum bet increment?
A5: No

Q6: You've been registered on this forum since January, how come don't have many posts?
A6: I like to read more than I like to post.

Q7: Who covers the transaction fee of the jackpot?
A7: I will pay the outgoing fees.

Q8: What is the minimum bet size?
A8: 1 Satoshi although you won't win.

Q9: Why did you make small deposits before the auction started?
A9: It's how I start up the pot.

Q10: Can I use a bot?
A10: Yes, use whatever programs or websites you like.

Q11: I have other questions.
A11: You can PM me or post them here.

It would be cool just to have a reference API, that is complete and has good design, so site developers can use this as a reference.

Can you go into a little more detail about your trading platform? Did you write the code in-house, open source, etc.?
278  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BITCOIN MAGAZINE ARRIVED! on: June 21, 2012, 01:36:53 AM
Actually this is not strange at all because you received your second copy from our Canadian re-shipper. Because of long delivery times, we have begun to explore alternative shipping options and it's good to see they are working well.

279  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: So can Bitcoins being mined via Solar Power? on: June 21, 2012, 01:19:05 AM
What if..... instead of using solar power in a 3rd World Country (Developing Nation), they daisy chain a bunch of stationary bicycles (Human Power Generator)?
280  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: https://bitdaytrade.com Bitcoin Gold & Commodities margin trading on: June 21, 2012, 12:56:50 AM
Sounds cool.

But like I see the spread is currently $1.  How many contracts are available at the best bid/ask?  Seems like you have a good start etc. but there is still some work to do.  Will def. keep the website bookmarked though and follow this thread.

I would recommend a chart DOM if you could implement that.

The bid/ask spread is a little higher than what we get from our forex provider, to make us some money and protect us against slippage and violent  price fluctuations. We will look into chart DOM in the future, what other features would you add to the site ?
thanks for your feedback!

So traders using your exchange are trading against the bitdaytrade.com?
