321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 22, 2014, 04:21:36 AM

No chance of catching people who are actually supportive and useful to our cause.

Lol. Very true.   Although I no longer can understand what the "cause" is.  Remember when it used to be "No Envy Movement"?  In the greatest of ironies it almost seems like it should be MEM instead.  I hope this really hasn't been 100+ pages of people still going on about the sock puppets.  That guy saying he has 90 accounts.  Why would he even try to sell them so cheaply?  I don't really care except it allows people with sockpuppets to dump on markets and screw up prices... otherwise it is just pure envy.  Maybe PEM ?
322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 22, 2014, 03:18:37 AM
I sometimes visit this thread but there hadn't been much lately.. was never much new cept logos.  I was a lot more active early on.  I gave some advice early on, showed utopianfuture how to save a full thread at once to check for people who might try to change their post in an illegal manner.  I come back 100+ pages later and it seems like the same argument.   Frankly it is a bit sad to me.  You guys were talking about wanting from people out of the crypto world joining, now you seem to want to banish them if they haven't been actively posting on their account they had to get to sign up on.  I was messing with NXT but I was a bit disheartened by some recent occurrings and come over here to see how NEM is coming along.  I wish I could say I feel better  Unfortunately it is more of the same...

Yes you're going to get a lot socket puppets weeded out..  I wonder though, is it worth it to get rid of 10 socket puppets from 1 guy if it means catching 2 legitimate people that were told by their buddy to sign up ?
323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 25, 2014, 03:32:52 AM
I am really struggling to understand this; what is it about posting a link to my logo (instead of posting it as an image) which breaks the rules you have written right there? How does what I did prevent everyone from seeing it?

I am going to continue asking: may I have my stake back? I believe the decision to remove it was founded on a baseless, strange TECHNICALITY which had no reason to be there. Furthermore, it was just not made obvious enough that these were your intentions.

Honestly guy, I didn't like your attitude.  I assumed your post was really short with just an imgur link.  After closing this thread and then seeing your post, I see that you actually put forth some thought towards the coin.  You made suggestions etc.  I shouldn't have been so harsh, as you actually did try to contribute even it was more with your thoughts on the subject than your actual submission.  I have no more say than anyone else, but you should give him the stake, Utopianfuture.
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 25, 2014, 03:20:56 AM
Once again, I can completely rip apart your response. I haven't had a single explanation from anyone yet that makes sense. It's like everyone just obeys and sides with Utopian's decisions like sheep, even if their arguments make no sense.

Quote
It was not "disturbingly baseless."

If you can find someone else who Posted image but in outbound link then you might have a point, but you haven't.

Finding another a person as described wouldn't do a thing to counter my claim that the reasoning behind my removal was 'baseless'. It would just mean it's baseless AND discriminative. It is baseless in the fact that it makes absolutely no sense.

Quote
You just play dumb on a design where you didn't even resize the middle letter appropriately.

Again, you're distracted by the quality of the logo. It was only ever an 'idea' for the logo and there are plenty of logo submissions which are of similar quality still with their stakes. It is a non-issue in this argument.

Quote
Easier to put it on an outbound link when it is so horrible.  Do you expect utopianfuture to go around chasing outbound links ?  Why would anyone else comment on it?

The fact that I posted it as an outbound link to hide it is preposterous; you actually made me laugh. I wrote it in huge letters AND wrote a description accounting my thoughts! Here is my original post (apologies it is an outbound link, I know you HATE those): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=440185.msg4899256#msg4899256

'Chasing outbound links'? Really? It is a single click of the mouse.

Quote
You obviously were not REALLY trying and cared not one bit but cheap way to get a stake.

You can't start criticising one method of achieving a stake against another. I simply used one of a variety of methods detailed in the original post to claim a stake. Saying one method is superior to another lacks any kind of argumentative strength.

Quote
It was pretty simple.  If you'd shown a real attempt and not a bs logo, maybe people would be sympathetic.

The only reason I had my stake REMOVED (not simply not added, but removed after being accepted for weeks!) was because it was linked to Imgur and not displayed right in the post. I regret making the decision to make my post look tidier now. And, for the thousandth time, it's quality is your opinion and is NOT an issue here.

Single click of mouse does not mean it cleanly loads with a single picture.  You didn't care if anyone could easily see it.  You put 10x more effort into this argument than you did your stupid logo.

You missed the boat where it was all free.  You had to put forth effort.  Your design lacks any real evidence of effort.  I could get 5 of those made on fiverr for $5.  That is reality.  I would argue you didn't put forth even minimal effort initially, but it was hard to judge since you didn't post it on the page like others.  You expect others to go to external site look around to find your attempt that wasn't even true.  Give me a break.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 25, 2014, 02:11:12 AM
I honestly cannot fathom why this has happened. At all. I will continue to argue my point until (a) I get my stake back, or (b) I understand why I lost my stake. Only when I get my stake back will I 'develop my logo a bit more' and contribute to this community. As I've said before, I WANT NEM to succeed. I WANT to be part of this. I am NOT trying to cause a fuss. The fuss has been caused 100% by my removal from the list.

well apparently i don't get a stake purely because i linked the logo i made to imgur instead of posting it directly in the reply

how is that fair? i still made a logo! Sad i was so looking forward to being a part of NEM too.....

i know i'm not the only one this has hapened to so can i please ask if i can have the stake???

You can still win a development share. I still don't know how your logo looks.

if everyone else who made a logo got a normal stake, why dont i too?

this was my logo;

The rule was to make a logo and put in in your post so everyone can see. Not just make a logo put a link there and forget about it. Maybe you can develop the logo a bit more and put it in a post here then I will add you in. Everyone else made an extra effort to put the logo in a post back then, I guess it is fair you should make an extra effort now.

The rule was 'make a logo'! If you were that bothered about how it was delivered then you should have made it absolutely clear! I thought having a large logo would be considered spammy, taking up lots of space needlessly would mean the pages fill up faster, with less people. I now regret being so considerate.

Someone else must agree that this isn't fair? It's not just me being an asshole?

You may claim you were being over considerate, but you sure as hell weren't trying with that logo.  I mean..  If I was to describe uninspired, I could use your coin as a basis.  At least you found an non-English N in a font for the symbol.  THere are guys that put in 20x more work into their logos....

Really dude, you didn't even size the N anywhere near the right size... come'on.

Agreed!
328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Launch 02MAR14 | IPO Available on: February 19, 2014, 03:41:53 AM

So this isn't really sustainable... You can take the IPO coins and take them back in exchange for the GPUs?  Then what?  Develop your own hardware?  You sound like you barely know the difference in the PoW algorthms.  How do you expect to hire anyone to create ASICs ?  It is nonsense.

After trying vertminer my friends 7950 no longer starts up.  CGminer says it is OFF.  Now the old original cgminer won't work either.  I told him it was coincidence he says it happened with 30 minutes of using vertminer.  Any ideas ?
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][pandacoin] The Panda Coin ♥ Scrypt Adaptive-N w/Kimotos Gravity Well ★ on: February 14, 2014, 03:02:11 AM
Just a friendly warning: The vertminer permanently fucked up my sapphire 280x, several other miners have reported having their cards damaged from using the vertminer. Mine this coin at your own risk

I have a friend who has a 7950 and was testing it.  It went dead within 10 minutes of running vertminer.  He still hasn't gotten it working. Looking at flashing the bios.  He is not sure if it is vertminer or not but he went back to scrypt for now.  Me?  I'm still trying vertminer.

Why can we not have a timezone and time for the coin to be released? We get 24 hour window.  Some people want to be there to break bottles of champagne and toast the launch but can't plan to be awake all 24 hours.

He is not kicked out because of he wants to see a development plan. There are no problem with asking questions, neither. He was kicked out because he hunted down my personal information in a public forum which could lead to a violation of my right to privacy.

You can do as much research as you want but at least keep the basic decency and respect other's people right to privacy.

You have put yourself in an unfortunate position of wanting to maintain your privacy while controlling a large amount of other people's money.  It is 100% reasonable in the cryptocoin world to ask if anyone knows anyone else in person.  Otherwise you could just easily walk off with the $.  To deny these things is being very naive at best.

Not in a public forum under my eyes.

So you think it is ok for someone to gather 50k usd or whatever in donations and have absolutely 0 connection with anyone or any way at all to be accountable.  I think you're looking too much from one side and not the other, but I'll drop it as this discussion serves no purpose.

So back on topic, what exactly will be made known to investors about the dev plans and what won't ?

This talk of "basic decency" etc is a bit extreme.  I didn't see anything he asked to be that ridiculous.  He seemed wise to me.  He is gone though.  Oh well.

I found you on nextcoin.org or whatever, but your signup date there is the same as it is here it appears.  Then I look at everyone on the forum and it appears they all have that date.  So I guess I should have to dig further to get more of your history on some other forum... still not sure.  I hope you are young and upcoming honest guy with motivation. Don't let us down.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 07, 2014, 09:05:52 PM

Relax, this things is only a couple of weeks old, and you're acting as if you hired this team to do a personal project for you. You're yelling at them as if you're their boss and they're beneath you. Like I always say, be grateful for the opportunity that you know about a project that has potential. To me you sound worse than a person with multiple stakes.

Here I am grateful for this group, while here's a person that sound so arrogant. Don't know if you are and you just sound that way, but truly worse than someone with 10+ stakes. Unless that person also has a similar character.

I didn't think he was that arrogant.  He asked basic questions.  I too wonder why the development plan is only going to be seen by the development team ?

j23a, you are a bit naive.  So many of things like this will be scams.  He had a very good point, when you see increased fundraising (paying for ads) but no actual work, investor should be worried.  He then asked for some level of reassurance while NEM gets money at an increased rate.  He got a completely defensive and nasty response from a guy who is holding a lot of money.

He wasn't yelling or anything like that.  He was looking out for the interests of NEM stakeholders by asking a few questions.  They weren't even tough questions.  He just wanted reassurances of some kind.  *Basic* transparency.

I will google the names because apparently the research is easy.

Personally only reason I am thinking this isn't a scam is because attention put forth to catch multi-accounters.  That doesn't seem like anything a scammer would do because it doesn't really benefit them.

However, after this kicking the guy out for asking to see development plan, I really am concerned.

Anyone complaining that an account with > 5/10 stakes is being "persecuted" should immediately be investigated!

Cheesy

Go ahead.  The point is that the early existing sock puppets were able to get unlimited accounts with almost 0 effort in anything.  Yet we are selectively going after later guys, just because there is method for tracing them.  I'd say make all the people who paid nothing somehow verify themselves too.

Patmaster.  You need to determine what exchange addresses are.  You will continue running into them with your taint analysis.  I am not sure the best way to do this though.  Ideas ?

I know if you trace NXT like this you're going to find a lot of funding from the 2-3 (?) exchanges that are the only source of NXT.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 07, 2014, 02:02:26 PM
I think we are opening a can of worms here.

If we are going to question everything, why not question the first 20 pages where you can just paste  interested and you get a stake.  How do we prove there is no multi accounter there?

Or how do we weed out the multi-accters in the thread 1 where you can just fund via the exchange?

In my view, what is happening here is we are doing selective persecution.  We are persecuting the late comers vs those early ones when it seems like free-for-all.

Is it because we are already in the thread 1, so we don't want as much people to come in and so, we are starting to persecute those that are in thread 2? (I am registered in thread 1, one of the early few)

Let us focus instead on getting the source code up!  Or our investment will all go to waste.  This is becoming a MOST ENVY MOVEMENT.

Just my two cents.

Yes, well said.  The first pages people had to do nothing.  Anyone who had multiple accounts could sign them all up and now they are not being questioned.  These are the guys who showed the least dedication.  They invested nothing so they care not if it fails.  Unfortunately some people are not able to read bitcointalk.org constantly so they had to invest money instead.

This place is pump and dump central.  There must had been lots of guys with multiple accounts ready to go.  So all the shady dudes who invested nothing but the labor for 1 login (to post) are able to have unlimited stakes at beginning.  This witchhunt will do little.  I think rules have been laid down and are adequate.  Anyone spending 4 hours just to make first post to then pay for stake seems fairly dedicated to me.  Yet we ignore guys who did nothing but post under their already existing multiaccounts.

I think if you guys found someone who had 50 stakes or something then yes you should refund stakes.  However I am not sure how you do this outside the rules.  It is either taint analysis or IP checking.   How far do you go with taint analysis ? Then you start accusing people.  Pretty much definition of a witchhunt.

Instead you could be productive.  Figure out how to make this coin succeed.  Make scammers work for their stakes, but just don't spend too much time going on about this.

I hope you guys doing all this extra work get dev stakes.

Guys , sorry for completely newbie question - would you explain PoN abbreviation? and how it works in two sentences?

many thanks

or at least give some reference link - as I couldn't find anything here.

proof of network.  like proof of stake, but it is proof of network.  I don't think the idea is used anywhere because it is likely quite flawed.  People who don't understand virtualization etc think that having different instances of a server add to security. Security can't rely on such things obviously.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 07, 2014, 06:35:57 AM
Here's an idea.

Set a new rule for the remaining shares. The rule restricts everyone but buyers who's registration date is sometime before the announcement of the coin, maybe several months before?.. and restrict the buyers to full members. Then lower the share price to a price maybe half of the current value or so. Allow buyins of multiple shares, but cap it at a small amount. This will bring in a different pool of investors. It should help fill up the spots quicker while also spreading the buyers. Thoughts?

This is idiotic.   Did you not read what NEM is supposed to be about ?  How can you claim an open coin that tries to be fair when you need an old account on 1 specific forum on the internet ?

It wouldn't spread the buyers, it does the opposite.  Hellllo?

It is so amazing how No Envy becomes Most Envy.  Like people complaining about taxes feeding the poor.  These people are first in line to get free government handouts.  They just hate the idea of someone else getting them.  I look at this thread a few times a day hoping for interesting discussion.  No.  What I see are more halfbaked ideas worrying about sock puppets having multiple accounts.  Instead of ideas to help coin grow etc, we get people worried about what others have.  All with the coin originally named "No Envy Movement".  Can't make this stuff up.
