Some suggestions I'd offer:

  • Ask business owners (bitmunchies, Nefario, one of the shirt sellers, etc) if they want to write about their experiences joining the Bitcoin economy - I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige with the free advertising and all.
  • Make a list of more specific topics or ideas for people to write about - it can be hard to think of something by yourself
  • Advertise yourself as an employer more - you're by far the easiest way for people to get a significant amount of coin so they can start participating in the economy without going through all the hoops with Liberty Reserve and MtGox.

Yes I did and things are awesome Grin. They say you can't take your money with you when you go but I memorised the contents of my wallet.dat so am the richest person here on the other side Cheesy.

Hope you know how to sign transactions and calculate hashes in your head. You'll be fine, I'm sure the difficulty is fairly low up there.

Agorist online media was what first introduced me to bitcoin. Agorism may not require computers, but technology is the most powerful weapon that freedom has on its side.

There is bitcoin2cc, but there's also bitcoin cashout: https://www.bitcoincashout.com/mtgox2/welcome.psp. It seems to be in stock more than bitcoin2cc is, and the prices are better.

Thanks for the (presumed) help getting there Smiley

Whoever wrote: http://bitcoinweekly.com/articles/causes-behind-the-bitcoin-price-rally

Where did they get the almost-accurate numbers for the number of sales we have made?  That made me LOL to see.  We haven't sold quite 45 shirts; but we are close.

Hi, I'm Vitalik Buterin, the writer. I bought a shirt from you guys myself, so I saw how the URLs stored the user and order numbers. From there, it was pretty simple.

It says "access denied" here (ie. a 10th order exists): http://iusecoins.com/user/1/order/10
It says "page not found" here (ie. a 1000th order does not exist): http://iusecoins.com/user/1/order/1000

Binary search from there.

If you tried to live entirely from bitmunchies, you just might get scurvy Tongue. Perhaps adding multivitamins to your inventory would be in order?

You could always get those from http://www.myhealthyorganics.com/
327  Economy / Marketplace / Programmer for hire for simple python/bash scripting jobs on: April 16, 2011, 07:21:29 PM
Hi, I'm a python/bash script monkey and if you have any scripting tasks that I could get done quickly I'm willing to do them for a small fee. Example scripting tasks include:

  • Changing the 'title' metadata of every song in a directory with the song's filename, minus the extension
  • Printing out weather forecast data for your city with nice formatting
  • Giving the word count of an essay in plain text, not including quotes
  • Deleting every song in a directory whose 'artist' metadata is "Justin Bieber"

You decide on a fee between 0.25 and 5 BTC depending on how substantial the task is, and if it's reasonable and I know how to I'll do it. If you have any specific language requirements, let me know. Send bitcoins to 1PnqE59974vkazJFuxWABt5TiTQWjEsYyK .

Is this offer still open? I could write a few articles about science-related topics since there aren't very many of those yet.

What sort of website tutorials/howtos do you want? Any examples?

On the subject of economics, I could write about the concept like the social taboos around money and the practical inconvenience of paying anything less than about $5 with conventional tools like credit cards or PayPal which make it difficult to have a microtransaction-based economy (ie. people pirate songs to avoid the pain of paying in itself, not because they are that stingy about losing 99 cents), and how Bitcoin offers a way to fix this.
