321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BTC|TRC|BTE|BQC|LTC|FC] RBCex: Exchange Terracoin, Bytecoin, BBQcoin, Featherco on: April 27, 2013, 01:35:06 PM
Will Mincoin be added down the track?

Mincoin is one of the coins I hope to add.  I hate to announce plans, because the Bitcoin world is so full of announced plans that never made it. Smiley

Fair enough. Thanks for the prompt response! Smiley

323  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Price of Litecoin in USD at 30th of April 2013 on: April 27, 2013, 10:57:31 AM
Noticed that there seems to be a steady upward trend in the price of Litecoins at the moment, but it seems to go down in correlation with DDOS attacks that affect Mostly Bitcoin related services. Given that it's only a few days until the end of the month and anything can happen to dramatically influence the exchange rate, where do you think the price will finish at?
324  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: NVIDIA Kepler (K20) from 134MHash/s to 330MHash/s with CUDA on: April 26, 2013, 03:51:56 AM
Hmm, might have to try and build one myself. Just tried using the last pre-built files and they didn't work.

You need to be more specific.

I can build the latest if you can't.

As in, I copied the files from that link into the bin folder and tried running the cuda win32 file from there.

If you could build the latest one, that would be appreciated. I'm not as advanced in programming and IT as I used to be, given it's been a good few years since I last tinkered around with PCs. I'm used to just unzipping files into directories, then clicking on the appropriate executable file and away I go, like how cbuchner1's CUDAminer app works.
325  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC 'rs treat alts almost like Gov Fiat treat BTC....very funny! on: April 26, 2013, 02:34:28 AM
Plenty of alternate coins are pre-mined scams, and most of them are nothing more than get rich quick schemes by uncreative hacks who have changed a few numbers in the code.

We disagree on what makes a coin successful. My mom has no idea on the differences between Western Union and Moneygram, she cares about what it provides and it's availability. Like most non-geeks, services will ultimately decide the winner.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling explaining why I don't think something is a scam to user called 'anti-scam' would be rather fruitless. Good luck in the coin you support and hopefully you'll acknowledge the market will decide the winners.

Agreed with the services aspect. This is why I tend to favour Mincoins and will possibly adopt Smallchange once it gets off the ground, due to the faster transaction and confirmation times, which are far more practical for a supermarket or petrol station where you can have quite a few people waiting in line who are in a hurry and don't want to be kept waiting any longer than they need to be. And trust me, having worked in retail in the past, this is important. I do not and will not support clones of coins without there being something like this taken into account. I mean, good luck to the Bytecoin and Feathercoin crowd, but I don't think they'll last long and sadly, believe they'll go the way of Terracoin.

Now all we need is for Satoshi Nakamoto to make a second coming and smite those with the mark of fiat ($$$).
327  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][Exchange]CoinEx.cc - Crypto Coin Exchange - Coming Soon on: April 25, 2013, 09:24:08 AM
Got a handful of Mincoins at the moment, will be interesting to see their comparative worth.

329  Economy / Speculation / Re: How long to break through 150 on: April 24, 2013, 10:49:37 AM
Unfortunately MtGox will be DDOS'd, and the price will go back to 100'ish. This is what has happened the entire couple week(s) now. I doubt it will go to 150 this month, maybe next month. Or if there is no attack on the biggest exchange.

Or more exchanges come online to give Mt.Gox a bit more competition.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What current alt crypto-currency do YOU believe in? on: April 24, 2013, 04:43:24 AM
Litecoins, followed by PPcoins and Mincoins
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC botnets? on: April 23, 2013, 10:32:32 AM
Could be the case that a few server farms that were mining Bitcoins have decided to switch to LTC, which could account for the large hash rates of a sole user. Considering there are a few that are listed on places like LTC Global and a couple of other security exchanges, it doesn't really surprise me if that's the case.
332  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: NVIDIA Kepler (K20) from 134MHash/s to 330MHash/s with CUDA on: April 23, 2013, 09:57:00 AM
Just tried running rpcminer-mod-cuda in Windows 7 32-bit version and it throws up an error, stating that it's not compatible with the version of Window's I'm running. Huh What am I doing wrong?

334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Petition to Apple: Allow Bitcoin wallets on iPhone on: April 23, 2013, 08:53:23 AM
Give Apple a few years and they'll be in decline again, and more willing to compromise to stay in the game. Bitcoin could come in handy for Steam when Valve release the Steambox down the track to make buying content more secure (maybe through Ripple or a similar interface) and less at risk of identity fraud through obtaining credit card details, like what happened with Sony a couple of years back with their PSN network.

Am also looking to develop an app or two down the track as time allows, and will favour Android first over Apple, due to the greater ease and flexibility of being able to put something up on Google Play compared to the App Store.
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: April 23, 2013, 08:37:43 AM
I know this program is focused on scrypt mining, but could it be easily adapted to build a newer CUDAminer for sha256 coins? Just think such a program would be more suitable than CGminer for the nVidia people and would help sway me to get a nVidia card for my next build.
336  Economy / Speculation / Re: $500 bitcoin by mid-July on: April 22, 2013, 01:14:58 PM
More morally-acceptable services (i.e. not Silk Road) accepting Bitcoins would go a long way. That, and more exchanges beyond Mt.Gox and BTC-e, especially those that cater more for non USD and Euro currencies like the Australian dollar would help as well and be less likely to fall victim to a DDOS attack.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people never plan to repatriate BTC to FIAT on: April 22, 2013, 01:11:18 PM
Holding on to my BTC amounts for a few years at least, and planning to keep mine generating more via Pyramining, which will eventually go into an Armory-locked account. Got a few litecoins in cryptostocks generating more through dividends, purely due to there being no equivalent of Armory available for Litecoin.

339  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: nVidia a mining option with Kepler? on: April 20, 2013, 08:26:52 AM
If you plan on mining Litecoins, might be worth checking out the CUDAminer thread in the alternative currencies forum. Getting 10.42kh/s for Litecoins on a GT220M over CGminers 5.9kh/s for sha256 coins. The guy developing it doesn't seem to have plans for a Bitcoin mining version, but can't see why it can't be adapted eventually by someone else to take advantage of the Kepler architecture.
340  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: April 16, 2013, 11:14:47 AM

I'm not missing it, check the third page.
 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=165397.msg1728321#msg1728321

that's the scamiest scam of all. maybe I can put a warning but thats all.

A touch arrogant, don't you think? I'd say Bitecoins are more of a scam coin, being a 1:1 copy of Bitcoin with no other redeeming features and just waiting to be killed off by an ASIC attack.

That said, feel free to keep it off the list for now, will give me more time to mine more Mincoins before everyone else starts rushing in. Tongue
