3201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can this be the reason some people are afraid to invest in Bitcon? on: October 18, 2022, 10:40:38 AM
To be fair, I think the reason most people are afraid is because they hear more often the stories of failures and scams rather than the ones of success. And I think to be objective also, more people have probably lost money and time with crypto than made profit -- that's the price of reacting to hype and fomo. That's not the fault of Bitcoin, it's the fault of altcoins, and the greed that motivates most people.

The basic understanding of money and greed that should underlie any motivations is missing. That's the reason people are afraid.
3202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: October 18, 2022, 07:00:41 AM

Once again Pep overthinking got the best of him, players like Haaland are just like Ronaldo they play for the stats so the best way to keep them motivated and in form is to keep playing them especially on games they can score and keep up the hunger to want more goals. Pep resting Haaland for the last Manchester city champions league game was a mistakes and probably that was the reason behind Haaland not been able to find his rhythm in the game. Assuming he played the last champion league game and got a goal, even though he didn't play full 90mins, we probably would had seen a Haaland that'll want to break more recoding by scoring again but that hunger wasn't there and kudus to Liverpool for their impressive defensive work.

These were my exact words boss. I said it that if Haaland flops it is Guardiola that caused it. Why rest Haaland in a champions league that he needs to be scoring high number of goals. Why substitute Haaland when he already got 2 goals in a champions league match. Why not allow him get hatric. This is Haaland o'clock and he should be allowed to explore everytime. Bench him further and he will forget how to score.

I may not be popular for saying this because I personally agree with both of you, as someone who played myself, I can only understand the personal motivations. But Pep and Klopp are both team builders, who get the most out of individuals, but who want to fashion a machine that works as a sum.

Hence they are both the ones most likely to sub players on hattricks (Klopps done it to Salah and Firmino often this season already) but they also want to remind them I think that the team must win. He wants them to feel joy when the teams win, and feel equally bad when the teams lose -- not to dwell on bad performances when the team wins, or feel less responsible when the team loses.

We can blame managers for overthinking and tinkering, but their job is to win games and keep winning positions, while of course allowing players to collect accolades if and when the conditions are right.

Trust me. Haaland and Salah etc would love to break records and goals. But they'll take team medals around their necks and they will be the first to admit that.

Thougts on Sevilla - Valencia this week? Cracking match, but also a toss up... right? or am i the only one who thinks Sevilla will put a up a fierce fight

If I don't bet on this, it will be a 4+ goal thriller, draw maybe or 3-2 or 4-3 win. If I do bet on it, it'll be a 0-0 stalemate with lots of cards. So I'll let you know if/when I bet on it Wink

Not sure what you mean... I watched first half El Clasico... and then at HT went to see Liverpool City...
Exactly. You were already watching the main event (El Clasico) but you said you were going to watch it and then switch over to the main Sunday event so i was wondering how do you switch from one channel to the same channel lol Grin Wink

Haha! I saw what you did there, sorry I was way too slow to catch on at first. Main event for some people on Sunday was even Grasso v Araujo last night (something I would only know because I follow the Sportsbet UFC discussion from time to time ha!).
3204  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eredivisie 22/23 - discussion thread on: October 17, 2022, 04:06:13 PM
Ajax and PSV overran their opponents and AZ surprisingly lost to Feyenoord, I was expecting a draw.

So now Ajax are top of the table again and the top 4 teams are only 2 points apart, that's still very little, keep it up.

The season seems to be/becomes more interesting than we all thought.

Haven't followed the season much in Eredivisie after giving up on Feyenoord in Europe, but definitely agree that the Alkmaar weirdness does provide for a better season than usual. The weekend was a bit strange though, Freiburg (who have been awesome in Bundesliga) have just been reminded of where they should be same as Alkmaar... I guess as the season wears on we'll see the dust settle and the rightful positions restored.
3205  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: October 17, 2022, 02:28:06 PM
This season in Championship is most exciting in last few seasons I follow, and anyone can beat anyone else.
Just look at the first place Burnley have only one defeat, but they have seven draws that is more than matches they won.
I think Sheffield have enough quality to finish in play-offs and to qualify for Premier league but they need to perform better.

*
Next round is starting in few days during this midweek, there is no rest time in Championship.

Too bad I'm not really following so much this one, but it has shaped up to look like something a bit different from what we're used to. Rooney and his team were my follow for a bit, Leeds before they promoted, but right now I guess it's a mixture of little interest and little time, but when I *can* watch it's really good entertainment, what they lack in technical art they make up for with hard running and direct football (which I can really like at times).

They do laugh a lot when EPL complains of playing after 3 days huh.
3206  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 17, 2022, 01:46:22 PM
Congrats man, lady luck rewarded your faith big time today.

I was so sure this game will have a lot of goals in it so I lost a lot of money today. Had both to score on some tickets, had City win on some other and City to score at least 2 goals on my high stake ticket. So basically this one game killed all my tickets today  Shocked To be fair it wasn't the only loosing game on some tickets but if City won with result like 2:1 I would be much better off.

Thanks man, yeah. Such a dumb move for me really to use one big game to rescue my crap season, but in all fairness even if odds were only 2/1 I'd have done the same thing.

Of course, this was the first time in a long time I actually did NOT predict clean sheet for Liverpool vs Citeh, and then Alisson not only comes up with the goods but gives the assist.

5 goal involvements in 4 seasons. Not bad, ya?

Congrats to the Liverpool fans and to the degens who had the balls to take Liverpool.

I'd take the loss if we'd won every other game, tbh. But yeah, this game means a lot to us.

Seriously though, are we taking Arsenal seriously enough? Beat Liverpool, Leicester and Spurs, okay lost to United, City have only beaten... who else in Top 6 contenders besides United?
3207  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: October 17, 2022, 12:18:30 PM
Btw, how did you switch to the main Sunday event if you were already watching it from the start?? heh  Grin  Congrats for that massive win today. Salah is back!

Not sure what you mean... I watched first half El Clasico... and then at HT went to see Liverpool City... no matter how exciting any game I'm watching, doubt Liverpool-City game of the last 5 years could be less exciting. Even the Community Shield game was fun!

And thanks! Salah never went away, he just has been moved to centre now haha.

Also agree Barca shouldn't change their way, they're bank on track, just Real needs to be caught up to, and I insist Barca's actually been playing well even when losing (past few games anyway).
3208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Catholic Nuns Who Are Building a New Church With Bitcoin on: October 17, 2022, 11:09:29 AM
Don't want to get into social aspects but on my island about a century ago missionaries also came and introduced and taught some technological advances (damming being the most important as it brought some electricity to remote areas, well in use until the turn of the new century). Pretty cool to see forward-thinking bosses still insist their brood remain up to date (or even ahead of the curve).

To note though, they didn't actually use Bitcoin to build, but as a method to accept financial support for the building of that church.

Cool story, and the type that I always like to read, so thanks!
3209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 16, 2022, 05:59:45 PM
Hey, what a game! There really should have been more goals on both ends of the pitch. Best thing to see was Nunez trying to score despite Carvalho and Salah clear on goal -- and then them applauding him when he failed. I know I should say worst thing to see was Klopp getting sent off but I think everyone liked that. Is it bad to enjoy that?

Rescued my season for sure, as had a heck lot on this game =D How'd everyone do?

The United made what many would call a surprise result and I also would call it a surprise result and I think that they played better but not that better than Newcastle and Newcastle had their chances which would have made a big surprise if they scored.

The draw was actually the likeliest outcome as odds balanced out but yeah, United will feel like they lost. Didn't watch but penalty call turned down and 2 Ronaldo goals chalked off sounds like a frustrating day at the Ten Hag office.
3210  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may drop to $15k or so but it'll definitely hit $300k+ in coming years on: October 16, 2022, 04:38:31 PM
Talk about unbridled optimism haha. We're no longer in 2017, OP, when 500k was probably the minimum of estimates, never mind all the million-dollar estimates by 2020.

$15k bottom would be Bitcoin pulling off something short of amazing given all the dire predictions coming, yet to come, and yet expected. $100k's still the benchmark though 2024? We haven't seen a high in the same calendar year as halving.

Business as usual for Arsenal, 1-0 up already. Saka continuing his great form, it’s a different Arsenal this season. They really mean business, 28 minutes gone & all is looking good.

Odds on Arsenal to win a double? Hmmmmm, maybe a treble, quadruple? Everything they do seems to work atm, exciting times.

Was saying that exactly just in another thread. Jesus getting all the plaudits along with Martinelli mainly, but the constant that I've liked all of last season and now here is Saka -- glad he's put the EURO mess behind him.  To name someone else, I think Tomiyasu has improved his game vastly. Always felt he was lacking a lot of confidence before, though he's generally not blamed for them losing.

Also credit to the way they were defending all that second half, really. Couldn't keep the ball at all but held their nerve in numbers... trying to sell some injuries in the final 5 of regular, that's really when you know they're believing haha.

Anyway, second game in a row I bet on Arsenal with -1 handicap, Gabriel just had a Nunez moment... sent off, so I guess I lose this if Leeds score the pen. Still, 25usdt freechip on Arsenal Roulette is sweet.

Can't stay to wait for VAR. On to Anfield...Milner starts as captain... so that's a guaranteed 3 points for us ha ha -D
3212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: October 16, 2022, 03:11:22 PM
^ Chelsea made it look easy, United toiled but actually seemed to perform worse than Newcastle so the special didn't hit. Arsenal on the ropes right now (watched first half, switched to El Clasico, back to 2nd half before City game at Anfield, what a day!) and Arteta inching onto the pitch almost trying to calm his team down to stop Leeds waves going!

Saka man, this boy is what makes the difference if you strip away Martinelli and Jesus.
3213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: October 16, 2022, 02:07:21 PM
As I said yesterday, of course. Monza and Torino only lost because I didn't put money on the favourites. Oh well. Inter needed to score 1 more for me to be truly happy, but as long as Spezia hold on for the win and Lazio wake up in second half, I'll be satisfied from this mid-round end.

Interesting for me was Inter didn't get booked... after collecting at least 4 in past few games. When was the last time they ended up without? (Heh I checked, Matchday 4, vs Cremonese haha).
3214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2022/2023 on: October 16, 2022, 12:53:41 PM
Cannot agree more with all of you: no VAR bullshit please, drama okay but not to keep interrupting to ruin the game, I watched at least a couple of these every year for the past 3/4 years and always bet on Barca due to odds, so of course today I also put a single at 3/1, will watch it before switching over to main Sunday event Wink

Meanwhile HT score on Celta/Sociedad suits my picks (2-2)... thanks always for Aspas, who forever will wonder what he has to do to represent Spain.
3215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: October 16, 2022, 12:15:03 PM
Yeah, Blackburn saved the days for me, but I took a risk with other match Luton vs QPR so I am not sad for losing.
I can't understand how Sheffield managed not to win when they had two goals lead in first 24 minutes, and  Blackpool had two red cards in this match.
Maybe they are not the right caliber for championship title if they can slip advantages like this so easy.
Norwich lost against Watford, and now Burnley take over the 1st position on table Smiley

One more bet for me tomorrow for Hull vs Birmingham.
Home team has a lot of missing players and they are in terrible form, but they have great H2H with Birmingham.
Anything could happen in this match but I double chance X2 is my choice.
https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/soccer/england/championship/hull-city-v-birmingham-city-634052a4a4a74fcdedabcc89

Blades were amazing in their first season in EPL but for some reason just couldn't hang on and yeah they seem to have digressed since then, but I realise they're hardly the same team they are today also. Watford/Norwich well, that's an easy coin flip to me.

Martingaling on either when they're 2/1 seems to be a good way to gain some money on small wagers... but I wouldn't risk it anyway. GL as usual, you know where my eyes are today.
3216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | Champions League Pool ⚽️ Discussion Thread on: October 16, 2022, 11:07:32 AM
Haha I don't think there is a shortage of guys with time, actually, but likely more of a shortage of "qualified" guys with time -- and not to say I don't think we have a big pool of capable people, just not sure if sponsors will agree. Hard enough securing sponsorships, but I have a lot of hope and confidence we'll see a pool.
World Cup is starting November 20, that is one month time to get things going and make some interesting pool of players.
Maybe we could create first joined sponsorship of more than one casino giving away rewards and free bets, but it should be one month of fun and games.
Brazil is number one favorite, but I think one of the teams from Europe will win the trophy this time.
This means we are not going to have Champions League all this time Smiley

I think a pool can even be gathered in a week -- but I don't want to overestimate forum people either. League football sure, club football like UCL sure, World Cup you think would get the most interest from practically anyone in this forum who watches football, but when it comes to putting a few mBTCs on the line, they're all ghosting haha. Understandable of course, real life takes precedence.

A joint casino thing is something I'd really like too, it's a once in 4 years thing. I doubt their marketing arms will agree though -- and I'm not sure I want to start that conversation with them. What do the rest of you think?

I'm also not opposed to just sponsoring it on my own, but it's not like I'll be able to make the pot attractive Wink
3217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 10 years ago on: October 16, 2022, 10:36:56 AM
Actually it's pointless to compare the early year of Bitcoin with the current year because Bitcoin price is really cheap on 2010, while Bitcoin price right now is already worth for $19K-ish which is the gap is too far.

It is pointless to cherry pick, but isn't that the whole point of we're trying to argue wanting to say gold performs better than Bitcoin? We can switch the goalposts all we like to fit our agenda, that's usually the point.

Start of Bitcoin and start of gold, put them side by side and see where we are today. That'd probably be the fairest but then I would whine that that puts 10 years of Bitcoin in comparison to thousands of gold.
3218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 16, 2022, 09:35:42 AM
Arsenal Chelsea United City acca looks very interesting, unfortunately my rose-tinted glasses can't see City taking anything from Anfield, so I've gone against my better judgment for a Newcastle/Liverpool acca at 9/1.

Liverpool odds have been improving as match approaches, which probably reflects money on the line rather than bookie expectations, haha. Done with betting on this game, last money on Liverpool DNB at 27/10, already put in quite a bit of ML money at 44/10.

Win and BTTS with a price boost still looking pretty at almost 6/1?
3219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 10 years ago on: October 16, 2022, 08:32:48 AM
We will not get this type of increase ever again. From 12.5 dollars to nearly 20k dollars, that means it has increased 1600x times bigger, in order for us to go x1600 bigger from the current price, we would need to be 32 million dollars per bitcoin.
(....)
I understand your point, but we'll never know still. What if we will dump at a huge significant price of Bitcoin then it will go bounce back on some high price?
We all know where Bitcoin will go, the same as what happened years ago when Bitcoin are starting. Or maybe if ever we will get on these high prices, for sure we don't exist anymore in this world.

You said what I was going to say. I do agree that the days of exponential growth counting from ATH to ATH can no longer happen. Getting in November 3.5x from 2017's mark only confirmed that.

But who's to say Bitcoin won't experience an incredible dump, as you say, even below March 2020's bottom?

I personally think that in the real of highly unlikely but Bitcoin's about to experience its first global depression.

$4k? $2k? Then another 20x from there to next ATH isn't just possible, it's probable.
3220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Censorship resistance is underrated, move to bitcoin and #DeletePaypal on: October 15, 2022, 09:33:27 PM
Great to see more and more fiat companies shoot themselves in the foot like this. Can't censor donations with bitcoin!

Agreed. I shiver with some enjoyment each time I see PayPal or some other guy bending the knee to a cause not even worthy. Not that I'm a fan of anyone called celebrity but also really enjoyed reading JPMorgan cutting off Kanye West for Tweets (but of course still running Epstein's).

I know it ain't fun for people who rely on it, but as a person who relied on PP most of my freelancing life, if they didn't mess with me the way they did, I'd never have looked for an alternative, and wouldn't have found Bitcoin until much later (and may never have been prompted to use).
