3203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will u feel if the price of one bitcoin exceeds $1million by 2030? on: February 02, 2022, 10:40:13 PM
The thread title is an interesting question?

I think we get accustomed to a market price very quickly, I mean $36,000 for one
Bitcoin is a fantastic price, just as $3,600 was back in 2017 and $360,000 will
be in the future. How will I feel when it hits $1,000,000? hard to know because
it will be a steady rise up to it and we will have gotten used to those high prices.
It will be an unbelievable milestone I cannot imagine it ATM.

Is the OP making a connection between Bitcoin being adopted in up to 5
countries and the increase in market value?
3204  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [INFO] [DISCUSSION] Polymerbit Behind the Scenes Thread on: February 02, 2022, 07:00:32 PM
Beautiful design work, love the "crypto whale", love the notes and fine measurements
and swatches, a lot of work in the design which includes measurements and colour combinations.

Nice update to the thread, getting closer to release!

He was making those comments in reaction to the crowd jeering him at the speeches.
I think he is fed-up with the negative attention he gets i dont know where it all started

Whatever about jeering a player during the match which I dont think is o.k
Its another to jeer at the award ceremony. I recon a lot of it is alcohol fuelled.

Noticed he didnt mention the audience and how great they were in his
speech.
3206  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for Feb on: February 01, 2022, 10:39:37 PM
If you ask only for the month of February, then it is very difficult to answer one such question given that we are in a very difficult time when the world is facing very high inflation that scares people to such an extent that they are afraid to spend and save more, which certainly also affects Bitcoin. There are a lot of unknowns in the air, so in the short term, we can expect a very turbulent period that will surely be used by those who can hardly wait for such periods in which the price of Bitcoin on a weekly basis changes 5% in both directions.

Given the options, I am voting for a dead cat bounce🐱

I agree with Lucius, there are too many uncertainties which could affect
the market, Inflation, the whole Russia/Ukraine/NATO thing and the U.S
inflation increase and effects of the stock markets and the link to the Bitcoin
markets. There is a general consensus that we are in or entering a bear market
so thats probably whats going to happen but I voted for "Dont Know"
3207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Half Bitcoin 🤗 on: February 01, 2022, 02:34:04 PM
Well done!
ATM for many people 0.5BTC is very difficult to get, and impossible for others.

You have learned a couple of valuable lessons, stay away from $hitcoins and stay
away from trading. Next lesson is not to take risks with that 0.5BTC or at the
very most set aside a small percentage for trading if you really feel the urge
or a spot of gambling for fun or buying goods but be disciplined while all
the time try to accumulate.

...and for the large percentage of it join the HODL club.
3208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin White Paper - Now available in 40 Languages on: February 01, 2022, 07:27:10 AM
This is a great milestone and very important. To quote the author of the article
who quotes Cøbra,
Quote
“the most important paper of the 21st century.”

At a time when CSW is still actively claiming to be Satoshi and claiming ownership
of the Whitepaper it is important to get it out there and have as many copies of
it in the wild so to speak.

gmaxwell recommended last year that as many as possible people should
host the Whitepaper, there are more and more opportunities now to do
so especially in different languages.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5346573.msg57344217#msg57344217

The Whitepaper being readily accessible and copyright free goes hand in hand
with the concept of Bitcoin itself so it should remain so, and in any every language.

I didnt know that was on, it hasnt even been on any  ewd bulletins here.

Just checking the world series rankings > https://www.world.rugby/sevens-series/standings/womens?lang=en

Australia being in the #1 position! Ireland at 6.

Live coverage is available on youtube > https://youtu.be/WqaWOnvlHiw

In the URC I have 1 bet on this weekend, Cardiff are at home to the visiting Leinster,
My bet is on Leinster who sit in 3rd spot and Cardiff sit in 11th.

So when we win something or are awarded something it is reported! I havent been
paying any attention to this but from the news Ireland faced Australia in the final
and 17-12. Its hard to bet against Australia it seems, they have medaled in all 4
previous events in this series, 3 golds and a Bronze.

Next leg is in Canada on 30th of April
3211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 31, 2022, 10:12:06 AM
There is also pressure mounting on his #1 spot from Medvedev who no doubt is
a serious contender for possibly RG and the US Open GS's.
Medvedev is not really a contender for RG, clay is by far his worst surface and traditionally he skips most of the clay season and when he plays he often looses against players that would get maybe few games against him on other surfaces. For instance he lost last season to Garin and Karatsev. Season before that he played only 2 tournaments and lost in first match again against Humbet and Fucsovics.

Clay season will be the reign of Nadal, Tsitsipas and Djokovic (if he is allowed to play). I am also expecting big things from guys like Ruud and Thiem.

Ah right, I omitted Wimbledon thinking grass wasnt hus strong surface, Clay is indeed
not a surface he is comfortable on.

I'm really looking forward to see Djoko get in he next GS
Well... potentially more drama to come.
it would practically mean that he gives up tennis.
I really don't believe he's Djokovic going to throw away his great career because he does not want to be vaccinated. Wimbledon will certainly not be able to play without the vaccine there the rules are even more rigorous and clear. US open probably will do the same rule.

Well, yeah, meanwhile, we've got the Scandinavians slowly going towards regarding Covid as a non-threat to society and the UK also just easing down on everything (but noting that at least in the former case, supposedly it's because hospitalisations are very low and no longer a burden, partly in any case because of high vaccinated population in the cities).

I always tell my kids: my house my rules, so yeah, can't argue if France insists, it'd be much better for everyone if we didn't go and make this any more dramatic than it already has been. If he won't play, he won't play. Shame for us if not though.

Actually a lot can happen before RG. In my country last week all COVID restrictions
were lifted, The Omicron variant has proven to be less potent than Delta resulting
in more cases but less hospitalisations, so France could follow and lift restrictions
which would see Djokovic clear to play.
3212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 31, 2022, 07:45:03 AM
I agree with @Trofo this is a statement win for Nadal. Down 2 sets and then a miracle comeback, won his 21st GS against the second seed Medvedev who is leading the pack of the young generation.

But Djokovic and Nadal is not done yet, from from it and showing this guys how to do it right. LOL.
I'm sure a lot of us are happy with the Nadal victory because he is the underdog and a huge win for us bettors.  Grin

A huge win by some bettors  Grin

I agree that Nadal and Djokovic are still major players in Tennis, Djokovic now has
his sights on leap-froging Nadal in the titles race, today he needs to win 2 GS's and after
RG he will potentially need 3.

There is also pressure mounting on his #1 spot from Medvedev who no doubt is
a serious contender for possibly RG and the US Open GS's.
3213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC power consumption on: January 31, 2022, 07:22:31 AM
This is an interesting article regarding the much debated Bitcoin Energy Consumption.

Its well written apart from if franky1's numbers are accurate the 188twh consumption,
but what I was waiting for when reading through it was something like this:

Quote
Is this really our most pressing energy concern, or might there be ulterior motives?

Bitcoins energy consumption is an easier target than attacking the likes of social
media data centres or the huge amounts of energy used to extract Lithium for battery
making, Coal mining still continues for its use in solar panels, these are never going
to be addressed because governments are to far into it and they are under their control.

The author also did his research on Satoshi's stance on consumption:

Quote
As with most debates over bitcoin, the topic of mining and the environment had
been hashed out and settled over a decade ago. As Satoshi himself put it in 2010:
"The utility of the exchanges made possible by Bitcoin will far exceed the cost of electricity
used. Therefore, not having Bitcoin would be the net waste."

Quote
Bitcoin improves lives by giving people access to a financial system without inflation,
confiscation, or control. It is good that we expend energy to give people this freedom.

Governments dont want an alternative finance system for all of their people, the FIAT financial
system only benefits the few so there are obviously many reasons to attack Bitcoins energy consumption.

3214  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 04:56:52 PM
yea great final, over 5 hours of great Tennis from both players, lots of breaks,
lots of drama and super trick shots. The service game played a big role for both
today, Nadal's wasnt great but became more effective as the match progressed and
Medvedev's was super for the first set but started to weaken as the match progressed.

Rafas stamina stayed true while Medvedev seemed to suffer late in the fourth set.

Medvedev's drop shots were not great, neither were Rafas but better, to me Rafas forehand
winners were better than
Medvedev's backhand ones.

Looking at the stats for the game Medvedev's are marginally better but its about
"the moments" or "key moments" which I suppose experience can make the difference.

Well done to all who backed Nadal, I'm happy for him and it will be hard to bet against
him now.
3215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 01:08:48 PM
Is Nadal's great return to this match imminent?
He seems to be pretty close to taking this match to the fifth set and then the psychological advantage would definitely be on his side.
I mentioned earlier that I think that Nadal is a much more experienced tennis player than Medvedev, he has played a lot more matches like this and he copes better with the pressure.
If the match goes to the fifth set, I think Nadal is the favorite to win.
Great match.

Well here we go, 1 set decider.

I fear a bit for my bet on Medvedev to win, he was looking a bit de-energised or
less energised than Nadal at the end of the fourth.

Nadal has a real chance to take this title, as said experience at playing
5set finals will stand to him.
3216  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: January 30, 2022, 11:36:25 AM
wow that was some second set, 2 breaks for each player. Medvedev had a fantastic
first set but his service game fell off in the second set. I cashed out my bet on Nadal
to win a set when Medvedev broke back for the first time.

Nadal's service game is in the 50's for 1st serve and too many unforced errors into
the net are not helping him.

Fantastic match so far though, some super shots played.
IMO this wont go past three sets.

:::EDIT:::

Oops wrong calls on the double from me !
good third set win by Rafa.
Medvedev annoyed again with the crowd and ball kids.

I think the popular opinion here is for Rafa to take the title!

I personally think the opposite and have bets on Medvedev to win @ 1.40
and Rafa to win at least 1 set @ 1.31

The players have just appeared and Medvedev did not get a positive response
from the crowd so it seems Rafa is the popular one.
3218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Still haven't sold a bit of BTC since 2013... if I can do it you can do it too! on: January 30, 2022, 08:03:00 AM
You are not tempted by anything including luxury goods at the price of bitcoin being skyrocketed but you are strong enough to hold on until now and in the future, I admit you can't do that.

How can you do this if you never see the market at all?
Or be silent and try to hold it, try to imagine when the price of bitcoin ATH $68k and you have been holding it since 2013 how many hundreds of thousands of percent of your profits at that time were sold.

Are there plans to sell? what year is it?

Thats interesting, a lot of people would succumb to the enticing prospect of owning
luxury items but they all pretty much lose value and you can only sell an amount of
Bitcoin once. I like the idea of HODLing for longer and being more considering to
when and what you buy.
We could able to identify which one does really raises up its value as years go on comparing into those things in the world which do depletes or becomes have no value
as the time flies by.For those who do able to see some potential and this is the result on where you could really be able to have that investment type of mindset
whether you do hold your assets for long term but if you are really on situation where money is somewhat a problem then it cant really be avoided
on having this kind of behavior.

Yes indeed but in this case it seems the OP may not have over extended themselves
by spending what they couldnt afford, although back in 2013 that would have been
difficult to get heavily into debt as the price peaked at around $30!

In the end I wasn't able to get any other bets on for those games, so I'll have to check in the next few days what the prices are for next week-end.

I see we're famous!

Ah yes I see that, I believe you to be more the expert in this thread than myself

I have to say though that I enjoyed the NRL betting last year thanks to yourself!

....and just to prove what an expert I am Leinster WERE BEATEN by Cardiff last night.
