3221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: April 14, 2014, 08:44:11 PM
@ all :

This is NEM-thread. There is no room for other coins! Especially not for NAS-coiners which want to harm the reputation of NEM!

One last thing before I shut up about NAS on this thread.

The creator is chinese and wanted to say the following:

NAS: It is no scam, and it is also not still in developement like NEM or NEXX and will be launched soon.

what he said was:

NAS: No scam! No another NEM or Nxx!

Don't bash him for not speaking english fluently....
3222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: April 14, 2014, 08:39:07 PM
Nxt thread is closed. Maybe we could use this now
haha

Just a Note: many people in here "forgot" that NEM was a direct product of NXT. At start there was even a talk about just cloning NXT. So don't hate on people that talk about both coins. (Yes, NAScoin talk in this thread was fail, and should not be here. I apologise!)
3223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NAS] Join the biggest giveaway ever - Free NAS for everyone [2000 spots left]! on: April 14, 2014, 08:35:47 PM
I have to agree with cryptohunter. The giveaway is pretty "crumby".

I work with the funds I have. I even donated a good chunk of my own funds. Sorry if I am not that good at convincing people to donate more. I tried my best.

Now I just work with it and try to giveaway everything that is possible.!

I didn't say anything against you.

Just the fact that it makes you think where the "rest" is.

I know some stakeholders now, and they all donated about 5% of their funds, I donated 10%. Some stakeholders got their funds and have not touched them since the IPO. So there are about 10% of coins "gone". Another 6% are with the marketing/bounty funds. 2% are in this giveaway. and 11 % are on dgex exchange, and about 2 % are on nxt-e (guess) So we know where about 30% of the funds are, hopefully the other 70% will see the need to chip in and distribute this coin much better.

When I came to this coin I was shocked about the distribution too. But I decided that this coin still has a future, and since then I did everything to better the distribution. It has been improved significantly. And it will continue to do so, i am sure!

PS: I think this wasn't clear, I was NOT in the IPO. I have not gained 1200 times return or even 1000%... I just thing that the first clone of a successful coin will also be successful if it tries to!

Is setting up the client and transacting same as NXT?

No, it is even easier.

Just download and extract it. Then open the run.bat file. Thats it.

You can then access the client in your browser with: http://localhost:7876/

3227  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Options trading thread on: April 14, 2014, 08:17:37 PM

I am currently in a finance-science master program. My field is nearly the same.

I did price the option using a floating variance calculation. This lead to a price of 0.03 ~. Don't have the calculations here though.

You can also check the implied volatility of a given price, you will see that the IV for a far out of the money option, with a short runtime, will be EXTREMELY high, like 200-400% a year. Total crazy.

One thing to note is, that bitcoin is not normally distributed at this moment in time. It is a fattail distribution paradise.

That's why I chose to add a 100% premium on the calculated fair price.

Good to know about your program. I am a graduate of a FE program.  Smiley

When you say floating var, I believe you mean using a stochastic vol? Did you use any of the pre built modeling techniques?

The IVs should come around those numbers. That's how volatile bitcoin has been. This also means that the options will technically be pretty expensive.

That in red is the real challenge in pricing a btc option fairly. So your fair price was from your own calculation or using some online calculator? If you used an online one, would you mind sharing the link of what you used?

Yeah stochastic. Im no native english speaker Wink

I was using a own approach that is working quite well for stocks too. Very similar to the event study approach though.

Options don't need to be expensive, there is a fair price, the problem is, that the best guesses will have a very high error term. That's the reason. Wall street has 30 year+ of data they can ovserve. We got about 2-3 years of good data (good is a faaaaar stretch)

Fattails can be priced, but it is very complicated to do it by hand, I should write a script for that....

I was doing it by hand and by a calculator I found online (It looks quick and dirty tbh) http://www.option-price.com/ . The calculator was pricing the options way too low in my eyes (even below the 0.035). So I don't know, there is no explanation on how it works exactely.
3228  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Options trading thread on: April 14, 2014, 08:09:58 PM
How to accurately price a bitcoin option? Apart from a willing buyer and seller, the risk adjusted premium should be the real "fair"  value.

There is no such thing as an "accurate" price without some sort of model. What the seller says he did in constructing his offer was similar to what I did in evaluating it. You will notice there is a fair component of vague "it doesn't quite fit the model, so I increased the price." Reality is likely more complex than any model, which means all models will be inaccurate (though often still useful).

yeah, one extremely big unknown variable is the variance. I have calulated it with an excel spreadsheet. The amount was way too low, but it was very fattailed. So very inaccurate as a good guessing variable.

Bitfinex is providing such a variable too: https://www.bitfinex.com/pages/stats  129%. Nearly the same value that I got. But that is calculated over 7 days so completely useless for a good indicator.

i;m not really worrying, because i can see the acc in block explorer.
its just weird.

I only see 7 peers here, is that as many as you see?
.conf can be fiddled like nxt?

I see 12 peers.

Yes you can fiddle with .conf

I wonder how are you guys pricing the option? How do you arrive at a particular premium to be paid to the option seller?

Willing buyer + willing seller.

I wonder how are you guys pricing the option? How do you arrive at a particular premium to be paid to the option seller?

I offered him a price, which he accepted. The price was 0.065 and it was twice what an option pricing programm gave me as a "fair" value.

So this option pricing program is something which utilizes Black Scholes method? I ask this because fundamentally the bitcoin options can't be priced using the traditional B-S Options pricing formula for other equities and asset classes. What this means is that the option writer is statistically taking more risk than what he is perceiving as per the option calculator.

This has been an area of research for me. How to accurately price a bitcoin option? Apart from a willing buyer and seller, the risk adjusted premium should be the real "fair"  value.

Just like Nxt, right?

Edit, i;ve just tipped you, to secure the account, did that go through?

I don't see anything.. Hmm.

What OS do you have?

win7, ffox64

So strange. Have nearly the same setup and it worked flawlessly from the start.

Did you try delete everything and redownload from the website?

From few last pages it looks, like the Nas community consist of NXT community members.
Are you guys trying to exploit this cheap ass clone?  Cry

I have massive funds in NXT. Why do you personally think that they can't coexist?

Flutter!

get in before it's only PoS + PoT

*HATE* the name. *HATE* the butterfly icon. These factors combined with the conflicting and confusing information about FLT's initial PoW distribution schedule kept me away from Fluttercoin for awhile. Curiousity got the best of me though when I had the free time to go through the lengthy thread.

Still HATE the name and the silly rainbow colored butterfly, but PoT is a fascinating and unique addition and the dev team seems very competent. I jumped in right before the recent spike.

Don't think so. Shitcoin devs rarely add an entirely new proof system to their coins. It remains to be seen if PoT really adds any value, but I don't think FLT is a shitcoin.

Agree. FLT is not a copy and paste. People should do a little research before condemning things. There are plenty of copy & paste sh1tcoins to bash...please check your fire people.

Where can I find more infos about the proof of transaction?

Just open multibit, then click Tools-> sign message.

Then you have to fill in your address from wich you want to send the funds.
Then fill in the message.
Then click "sign message" and then the "signature" will appear. That is the thing you will need to send exo.

i made a transaction to exo acc than tried to do what you write and couldnt sign the mesage

What is the problem, is there an error message?

Did you forget the password of the wallet maybe?

Did you check if the address is correct?

Mnmmnope...
Although i have been using 1 hr as deadline.
I used 24 hrs for the most recent txid, i'll just wait for today and see.

The deadline is just a maximum period. Just choose 24hours always and you are good. The confirmations should still come in with a few minutes.

PS: send me your account number, than I can check if you got the aliases.

Thx

this needs to trade on mintpal ... the more exchanges the better...
Exocoin has its own decentralized exchange therefore it's not necessary to trade on mintpal or somewhere else.

That is not true. The dev said many times that the exchange will not be ready for months after the launch. And even then I bet it would be too much of a hassle for newbs to figure out how to use it. Many people like the easyness of exchanges. Can't really argue with that.
That's sad to hear. I hoped to see DEx in a month after launch as it was mentioned on timeline.

Maybe i was pessimistic. 1 month still could be, but in his last message it sounded very low priority!
