3241  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to send btc from a specific address? on: December 15, 2017, 06:42:32 AM
So im using electrum wallet.  Can i send the total amount of btc i received in that one new address i used to receive btc from 2 different senders who sent me some btc?

Thus imagine 0.01 btc and 0.05 btc sent each.  I want to send 0.06 btc total to one site from that address so the entire 0.06 btc comes from it as oppose to any btc from my other addresses?

Thanks.

Hey hcp sorry for asking so many questions.  But here, are you suggesting that i just send btc as is without clicking send from then?  Because if i don't aren't it going to connect to my old btc addresses that i used?  Or it would not?
3243  Other / Beginners & Help / How to send btc from a specific address? on: December 15, 2017, 06:15:06 AM
I recently requested btc to an address i never used.  I also have btc in other address in my electrum wallet.

I know if i send btc to another site that amount of btc in my wallet would be deducted.  However, they seem to deduct a small portion from a few different addresses it seems if one address does not have enough btc or so.

How do i send btc to a site from a specific address?  I want to send it from that btc address that i just received.  For example say i received a total of 0.03 btc in an address.  But i have btc in my other addresses and i do not want any btc being withdrew from those addresses.  Thus i want the full amount of btc that i want to send to come from the wallet i just received btc.  So say i have 0.03 btc in that new address.  The sending fee is say 0.001 btc.  I would then send 0.03 - 0.001 = 0.029 btc from that address to another site as the fee would then add up to a total of 0.03 btc.  How do i do this so the btc balance in my other addresses are not affected?  Thus imagine i were to send 0.03 btc but actually put 0.03 btc sent and there is the 0.001 btc fee.  So where would the 0.03 btc leave from?  Would it be from the new address i just got the new btc or from the old one?  But even if it comes from the new one, then the 0.001 btc fee has to come out of another address since i don't have the full 0.031 btc in that one address right?

If you were to sell it, you are selling it for btc.  But when you get that btc, are you going to hold onto that btc... or are you going to sell the btc to usd and then have a bank transfer to lock in your 500 dollar plus profit?  Or would you sell it for btc and sell it for usdt and then have that usdt as profit but then wait to buy something else?

Did you guys use electron cash on same computer as your electrum?
3246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sending Unconfirmed BTC from Specific Address? on: December 15, 2017, 12:24:45 AM
HCP, the reason i want to do this is because one of the btc addresses that i used before, i used it a lot.. over 50 times etc.

So if i send the 0.06 btc as it is normally, wouldn't the new btc address that i use to receive btc transfers twice be connected to the btc address that i used over 50 times etc.  i don't want it to be connected as i read people say its better for privacy which is why im asking this.
3247  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sending fees... are you serious? on: December 14, 2017, 11:46:50 PM
Hi there well i have to send btc because im trying to send to a site that take btc.

I dont want to pay a very high fee for it though if a lower fee would take around the same etc.
3248  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Sending Unconfirmed BTC from Specific Address? on: December 14, 2017, 11:35:52 PM
Also i noticed that if i do it this way, the fee to send is higher than oppose to me just clicking send without spend from that address.  Is that normal?

I'm trying to send this to a site right now but want to make sure i do this correctly.

3249  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin sending fees... are you serious? on: December 14, 2017, 11:13:35 PM
Also can someone tell me what exactly is the default max static fee on electrum?  Is it 0.003 btc or 0.0003 btc?
i think the max set fees is 0.003 but its better to set your own fees in electrum wallet , last day I sent  0.03 btc with an 0.0005 btc fee to speed up the transaction and it went through in 2-3 hours .

Can you explain how you did this on electrum?  So what you put for max static fee?  Did you check use dynamic fee?  Did you check edit fees manually?

Before you send the btc, did you put down 0.0005 btc fee by typing it yourself?

Hey all would like anyone that uses electrum wallet or similar wallet to give me advice on this.

Do most people send btc within the 10 blocks as recommended by electrum?  Sending that cost around 13 dollars.  But if you do 25 blocks, its about 7.  Is that much faster 10 blocks than 25?

Also im not going to do this but you could still change the btc sending fees?  For example i went to preferences and unchecked dynamic fees.  It shows the max static fee as 0.003 btc/kb and checked.

When i unchecked it and then went to send option to see how much the fees are, assuming you put 0.02 btc to send and move the scrollbar all the way to the left, its only a bit more than 1 dollar to send.  It shows as 0.0003btc/kb which is around 1.14 only.  But when you move it to the right a bit when its no longer low fee and says fixed rate 0.0012btc/kb and says within 25 blocks, the fees are about 4.50.  Then when you keep scrolling to the right and say within 25 blocks, it would say 0.0015btc/kb etc and it would go higher 1 dollar and then 2 etc.  Then when it gets to within 10 block and 0.0027 btc, its about 10 dollars.

So basically dynamic fees should always be checked or not?  Or only if you need the btc to be sent pretty quickly?  And it should be kept at 0.003btc/kb or could you change it to 0.002  or 0.001btc/kb?

So you could still send with essentially the low fee of a bit more than 1 dollar but its a low fee send.  That will take about how long?

But if you do the within 25 blocks and 7 dollars without changing dynamic fees, is that still okay?

I was used to back then sending btc for under 50 cents back then.  Can someone tell me what is the best value to send btc in terms of price and speed?  Thus if you send with low fee, don't expect it to hit the other wallet for a few days or so?  But if you do 25 blocks, should be same day but not hours?  If you do 10 blocks, probably much quicker?

Like if im trying to move my btc from a wallet to a site but i dont need it to get there quickly, would you say its mine to use a very low fee or not?  But if you want it pretty fast, either do 10 blocks for 13 dollars or 25 blocks for 7 dollars?

Hey HCP.  I received btc twice in the same address that i never used.  Thus imagine like 0.01 btc and 0.05 btc later etc.  So it shows up total as around 0.06 btc on that address.

I want to send exactly 0.06 btc total minus sending fee... so if it cost 0.001 btc to send, then i want to send exactly 0.0059 btc.  That way after i send it, the btc balance on that address is exactly 0.

I right clicked and click spend from.

When i do this, it shows the pay to address.

Then also it shows the 2 addresses that are showing that i received from and of course my btc address with the btc amount received each time.

So i can just copy/paste the btc address i want to send to.  Then the btc amount i would send such as 0.0059 btc.  Then make sure the fee when added to the amount im sending is exactly the total amount of btc i have in that address... then i click send?

Can you confirm this would work?  So the receiver would receive the btc but they will receive it all at once right?  Thus the entire 0.059 btc?  Also assuming i had request 5 btc transfers recently and asked them to send all to an address i never used.  Then it would show From... 5 different addresses.  That still works the same way?

I'm going to send the btc soon to a site and i want to make sure everything im doing is right?  Im using electrum 2.9.

Thanks.

HCP.  So i want to send 0.03 btc right now to another site.  I received exactly 0.03 btc from another site before this.  Now i want to send the whole btc amount minus sending fee... say fee is 0.001btc.  So i would just send btc as normal to the address and put 0.029 as the amount of btc to send.

Is that good enough or not?

I don't want to test any testnet etc.  Im not that computer savy etc...

Is it hard/easy to buy bitcoin on gdax/gemini and then look for a buyer on local bitcoin who would pay you by depositing cash in your bank account?

3257  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why is bitcoin price not dropping when sending fees are so high? on: December 14, 2017, 03:03:22 PM
Does anyone know why this is the case?  Surely it would drop right since the fees are outrageous and would move other people to buy other coins?
3258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Carrying Hardware Wallets When Traveling Internationally on: December 14, 2017, 03:01:02 PM
Are there many of you who travel internationally?  If you do, obviously you have your laptop as well for many people.  But i assume most of you travel with your nano ledger or trezor as well?  If so, i assume you don't have to declare you have over 10k on you right since its not a currency but an asset.  But also you aren't carrying bitcoin because the nano ledger is basically like your bank card which has money in it?  Has anyone been asked about it when flying internationally?

Then again if you have a bitcoin wallet on your computer such as electrum or any similar ones, wouldn't that be the same thing as a nano ledger or trezor?  But the thing is the nano ledger looks like a keychain or usb but the trezor looks a bit different?  And also when you carry it, do you generally carry it as is or you put it in a box?
