3241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I got scammed on alibaba trying to buy Bitmain Antminer D3, Must Read! on: August 22, 2017, 10:09:51 PM
Why would you pay with bitcoin on aliexpress?
It was www.alibaba.com not aliexpress

Why would you pay with bitcoin on alibaba without escrow or protection of any sort as you did not use valid Alibaba payment methods?
I see what you mean, but it was in the heat of the moment. I should have left the conversation when he said he does not accept paypal, creditcard.
But in this case it was not the seller that fooled me, someone hacked his account, posted a product, sold it and then removed the product.

It's essentially the same thing besides a few features anyways. This kind of scam happens even on sites like eBay where people post a cheap item or rare item and delist it as soon as it sells. All the methods he offered would have no way of reversing, big red flag.

Why would you pay with bitcoin on aliexpress without escrow or protection of any sort as you did not use valid Alibaba payment methods? No matter how much trust the seller may have they can just take the money and you can't really do anything about it.

Is it that difficult to transfer BTC to PayPal or bank transfer?

Big drop over night

Bitcoin Difficulty:   923,233,068,449
Estimated Next Difficulty:   897,339,478,921 (-2.80%)
Adjust time:   After 218 Blocks, About 1.6 days
Hashrate(?):   5,946,751,039 GH/s
Block Generation Time(?):
1 block: 10.3 minutes
3 blocks: 30.9 minutes
6 blocks: 1.0 hours
Updated:   7:45 (1.8 minutes ago)

Miners switching to BCH finally made their impact. Will be interesting to see what will happen after BCH gets its needed difficulty adjustment and profitability on the chain drops, likely people switching back to BTC.
3244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OK, so people are mining BCH, but is anyone actually using it? on: August 22, 2017, 11:45:09 AM
And not only that, but fud machines are up at full speed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2110454.0

Jihan and his buddies are probably sweating buckets right now trying to keep their chain up and looking better than BTC Cheesy
3245  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OK, so people are mining BCH, but is anyone actually using it? on: August 22, 2017, 11:37:42 AM
I haven't seen any retailers or even people accepting BCH, so I'd say no. Remember that there is money behind all of this and that's about the only thing keeping BCH afloat. Once another difficulty adjustment comes in and it's not as profitable as BTC, even hashrate on the chain will go down.
3246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ASUS B250 Mining Expert MB - 19 Cards! on: August 22, 2017, 11:34:48 AM
Software is my biggest worry with this thing as we'd likely need new drivers and such to take advantage of all the ports but hey, at least this will help save a bit of money on motherboards, memory and storage. Hopefully these won't be price gouged when they come out. I love the no-frills design on it.
3247  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Diff contest Aug 9 to Aug?.Prize a black sealed Trezor wallet. Picks are closed. on: August 21, 2017, 11:07:49 AM
Interestingly enough a tweet says Bitmain has or will plan to move 170PH of hashing power to BCH. It won't be the longest chain as it still won't have the most cumulative POW, so don't worry about it too much.
3248  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s7 hashboard not working on: August 21, 2017, 02:18:28 AM
Antbleeding (c) Wink
This was recently fixed and there's no real proof of it ever being used if I am correct. Antbleed was a sort of loophole that could allow Bitmain to essentially take over miners which was quickly patched, you could try a firmware update but make sure you do everything correctly or you could brick your miner.
3249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to spot memory type rx470-rx480 (Hinyx/Elpida) for flash bios on: August 21, 2017, 02:11:46 AM
GPU-z could be incorrect. If you aren't sure contacting the manufacturer is a good place to start most of the time, they should be the ones who know most about the cards. Dual bios cards are usually pretty hard to completely brick, so you can try with two cards and see if results are consistent and do more if needed.
3250  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 21, 2017, 02:07:22 AM
I'm getting very frustrated with the poor S9 quality. Out of the (6) S9 that I received, one whole unit is DOA and another has 1 dead hash board after running for a couple weeks. I also received a DOA PSU. The DOA units have been sitting at BITMAIN California for two weeks with no response, now i gotta send off the other. Be careful folks before you spend money. Evaluate all of your options.

Which batch were they from? I remember reading a month or two ago that a bunch of people were having problems from the batch that was just shipped. If you can get a refund I'd pick up some L3+'s from them, get away from the S9 line all together as they've been having problems.
just received within the past couple weeks. Absolute garbage. bought allot from them. 30% failure rate is unacceptable. Best response they can give me is send them in for warranty repair.

Yeah, that's really unfortunate. Did you pre-order them months in advance before when everyone was talking about how they were failing left and right, or after?
I think they were ordered late may early June. Up until recently I haven't had a horrible experience. The stuff they're putting out now is just not good quality at all. Like they're not even trying to give hAlf a cap that people pay money for this stuff.
They never really did, likely they are cutting more corners and putting higher production on their L3+ and D3 miners as there's more demand for them. Big reason why I don't like buying anything from them these days.
3251  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How to buy large amount of miners??? on: August 21, 2017, 02:06:11 AM
How about Bitfury? I managed to find they sell shipping container sized units, that take about 30mw of power, but can't find what hashrate that would produce. Their page only lists per chip performance.
I'm not sure, but the pricing on those is massive (1mln USD +) and they haven't answered many questions about the miner up to now if I am correct. You can only really get chips from them direct, and even then only a few people have gotten those chips, one person is Sidehack who plans on making a few miners based off of those chips.
3252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to build a rasp pi 3 for mining with your asic gear. on: August 20, 2017, 05:01:38 PM

Having only mined GPU, am I correct in understanding you can use a generic Rasp Pi like this and pre-load software to control, say an Avalon 741 in order to save some cash?

Are you planning on expanding to include the software preload for various miners ?

I have an Rpi 2 sitting in a box somewhere not to mention the cash I had planned for Vega cards....are the Avalon's readily available?

Yep, Avalon also uses a RPI for controllers but they do provide a nice simple guide on how to setup a RPI for mining yourself. Avalons are pretty much always available and they ship pretty quickly, quality is also much better than from Bitmain. Only difference is less hashrate and slightly worse efficiency.
3253  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: first bitmain antminer S10 speculation thread (probably) on: August 20, 2017, 02:33:44 PM
There will never be a "S10". It will most likely be called S11 as their other models have been S1, S3, S5, S7, S9, etc. Although I don't expect a 10 nm chip anytime soon maybe they will increase the current chips efficiency slightly and jam a couple more hashing boards in there.
If it's a small increase it's probably not even worth it for Bitmain to create a new optimized chip at all with their low electrical rates and all. They're likely branching into LTC and X11 just to keep people interested in their brand.
3254  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Going Down Badly? on: August 20, 2017, 02:24:13 PM
The reason BTC is going down is because it's about 30% more profitable for miners to mine bitcoincash.
Merchants, exchanges and miners are switching to the bitcoin upgrade called bitcoin cash.
Many people are still unaware of the upgrade and will possibly be left behind and lose a lot of money as bitcoincash is quickly replacing bitcoin.

Another evidence less FUD post by the one of the greatest losers in bitcoin history, Kwuckduck.

It may be more profitable at the moment, but, merchants, exchanges and miners are not switching. Zero fucking evidence there pal.

Tell me though Kwuckduck, for humours sake, let's just say that bitcoin cash destroys the bitcoin core chain and becomes the new bitcoin. Will you then be posting FUD post after FUD post about that chain too as it crashes to new ATHs?
Some people just have a hate boner for Bitcoin and the top dog. Can't change that no matter how much reasoning you give, obviously miners will follow the money and some of them have indeed switched. I haven't done that yet and I probably never will.
3255  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Anybody has used this Power Supply? on: August 20, 2017, 11:34:46 AM
I've seen their store on eBay selling these and they look just fine but be warned it's likely pretty loud with those three tiny fans on the backside if that's an issue for you. All in all it's still better than most computer PSUs or Bitmain PSUs.
3256  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin core and altcoins get dump Bitcoin Cash pumping. on: August 20, 2017, 11:33:00 AM
It's all behind money pumping it up. Obviously BCH is not stable at this price and when the money supporting it goes away, then the coin will fall right back down. The only good long term charts I've seen for BCH is on CoinMarketCap and you can see the recent pump real well from there. Miners follow the money and they will go pretty much anywhere; they do not have any motives except to maximise profits, a big reason why this whole blockscaling fiasco is even happening.
3257  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 20, 2017, 11:31:38 AM
Well, this is pretty funny, someone breached my bitcointalk account, deleted everything and all traces of the goyim knowing, then immediately starts shilling for....bitcoincash and....TETHER:

r0ach bitcointalk acct:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=184394;sa=showPosts

LOL, karma laws at its finest

I had the same username and password on BTCE, so that's probably what it was.  Right after BTCE is seized, I now have some FBI tard on my account shilling for bitcoincash and tethers.

Use one of those password generator apps/software to make a complex password and use it whenever you need to login on a site. Works for me and I have never gotten any accounts breached yet on most sites.
3258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with Nvidia P106-100 on: August 20, 2017, 11:27:50 AM
Completely unrelated to Bitcoin mining in every possible way, please move this to Altcoin mining. How are temperatures, and are these the P106 cards with no video output?
3259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How much do you pay per kw and where are you from? :s on: August 20, 2017, 02:37:50 AM
I pay about .065$/kW in NW Pennsylvania in the US. The weather's nice and cool in the winter as well, great weather for mining. Never gets too hot most of the time either, compared to SC where I had to pay .10$/kW and deal with 100 degree temps during the summer.
3260  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 20, 2017, 02:10:41 AM
I'm surprised BCH is still holding up so well. Will be interesting to see what happens after all of this drama is over and when it isn't being pumped to stay relevant Smiley I hope for more opportunities for free coin in the future (assuming price won't crash).
