My site only accepts bitcoin. To accept old style money would probably put us out of business one way or another.
Congratulations, but we need more, an iconic product that everybody wants to buy. Ice-cream would be nice. Imagine it would be impossible to buy an ice-cream without bitcoin. That would make BTC really successful. Maybe it could be done in one town for one day for a start.

We need some kind of a rating system to find out which are the most important.
A database could include the following items:
Is this the first edition? How many people are expected? What's the size of the place? How many different conferences?

No doubt they're watching it, that they're following it very closely, but I don't think they're using it yet. Maybe in a few years... Sometimes in the future, they might even say it was a great invention.
They could be mining too, since they have lot of computing power.

Your reasoning is quite good but the problem is finding the leader who will start the revolution.
Can you imagine Apple selling its next iPhone 6 only in BTC? Can you imagine Ford selling its next Mustang only in BTC?
Maybe David Bowie could sell its next songs only in BTC?

None of my computers auto-updates. I'm losing some time because of that choice, but I want to be in control of my tools.

They're still leading by far, making much more volume than the second biggest exchange.

I'm sure the peopl doing clandestine operations work with cash and nothing else. Bitcoin requires a computer and an Internet connection. It's just not convenient when you are in Libya or in Iran.

Anyone has a link to prove there were TV ads?
It's just hard to believe. Who would pay for them?
The link on top of the page is about a TV show which happened to talk about bitcoin, that's very different from ads, and there's no data to show any government support. I believe countries from Northern Europe give more support.

I am no longer mining as they difficulty surpass whatever hash powers I have. It will be cheaper for me to buy the coins directly. But I am doing whatever transactions I can using Bitcoins. One thing I am curious about, if I leave my computer on with Bitcoin-QT installed, will I be playing a tiny part as a node in the entire Bitcoin food chain, or is there too many nodes already?
I believe it helps because I've been reading many times people where giving up Bitcoin-Qt because it takes too much disk space, and it's slow to start. They switch to "light" clients, so it's good news to hear of one person choosing to help the network. My understanding is that there can't be too many nodes.

Maybe everyone gets to vote! massive voting system an all major issues, lets not have a Government because that implies we need governing like inmates, What we need is an administration to get done what the voters demand. Brave new world based on a tamper proof voting system.
Isn't that just the tyranny of the majority? Who cares what 49% of people think, they should be forced to go along with what the 51% want? God help you if you are in a minority group. Give us an example of something that supposedly everybody in the country needs to vote on. I doubt such a thing actually exists. This is why anarchists say that the best government is the one that governs the least. With Thoreau's going as far as to say that the best government is the one that doesn't govern at all.

You have to be very cautious with China. There was a TV show which talked about bitcoin, no ads, and I'm still waiting for a government official to publicly endorse bitcoin. I'm not sure it would be good if someone does. I don't like the idea of Fincen messing with bitcoin, and I don't want a Chinese government agency doing the same.
Does anyone seriously think the Chinese government can help bitcoin? China has a laissez-faire attitude for now, but if it were to decide that this has to stop, they will act accordingly. China doesn't support democracy, and it's the world's biggest polluter, don't expect anything from that country.

I may attend, but I'm waiting for the full schedule to be released. Do you know when the list of conferences will be online?

Just what I said, neither vid is an advert for a currency. First vid shows how greedy we are, second is an ad for a trading company.

It should not be compulsory, but it should be tried as an option. Ultimately, it depends of where you live and what you do with your money. If you get paid in bitcoin, but there are no shops or places accepting bitcoin in your area, you'll have to go to an exchange immediately, so it's not very useful.
There might be more opportunities in an employer opening a bitcoin savings account for its employees.

Bitcoin is a currency. You don't see advertisements for currencies on TV, nor anywhere. We can only dream of an exchange making adverts, but if they can afford a super bowl ad, it would mean their fees are way too high.
I agree there should be more communication about bitcoin, but no TV ads.

I'm joining the majority of people who don't want the number of bitcoins to be increased over its built-in limit.

It's like a diamond which has many facets. The price of bitcoin is only one facet. We must also consider the number of people owning bitcoins, the number of transactions they do, the number of businesses accepting bitcoin, the number of companies developing applications for bitcoin... There are many indicators telling that bitcoin is growing.

There were several new companies looking for investors at the bitcoin 2013 conference which took place last month. You could check the list of exhibitors.

Thank you for what you're doing. The more people use bitcoin, the more stable it will be. And opportunities will grow too, with more shops and businesses willing to accept bitcoins.
