3241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My opinion on Ethereum 2.0 on: June 27, 2021, 06:06:41 PM
I don't have much information about Ethereum 2 and the staking process, but I know that there are already some staking pools. You can join them and stake with less than 32 Ethereum.

This is same as mining pools. Since people can't have a significant percentage of the total hashrate, they can't solo mine and have to join a mining pool.
When it comes to staking, people have to join staking pools.
3242  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory keeps saying "Scanning Transaction History" on: June 26, 2021, 03:09:52 PM
Armory can't get the transaction history if bitcoin core has downloaded the blockchchain in pruned mode.
You should disable pruning and download the blockchain again.

If you don't have the required space or you don't want to store the entire blockchain for any reason, you can export your private key(s) from armory and import it to a SPV wallet like electrum.
In SPV wallets, you don't need to download the blockchain.
3243  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can I use a 12 word seed extension and store it separately? on: June 26, 2021, 02:54:16 PM
Would you like to explain me why they're a good idea? For the average user at least, I find it pretty useless and as you said, it brings potential pitfalls.
If you use a passphrase in the right way, they aren't really useless.
A passphrase isn't used for reducing the chance of successfully being brute-forced. As you rightly said, 128 bits of entropy is more than enough.

Let's say I have written my seed phrase on a paper and the paper is stolen. The thief can't steal my fund without the passphrase.
Using a passphrase has its own downsides. But it has advantages too.
3244  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restoring wallet from seed on: June 25, 2021, 09:03:04 PM
As you are talking about google authenticator, your wallet was probably 2FA.

You can recover your wallet with your seed phrase even without google authenticator code. As stated by Charles-Tim, your seed phrase should be a series of 12 words.
As you are talking about numbers, I doubt what you have is the seed phrase.

For recovering your wallet, you need to have your seed phrase (a series of 12 words) or the wallet file plus the secret key electrum gave you when generating the wallet.
The secret key includes random numbers and letters and can be in the form of QR code too.
3245  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits) on: June 25, 2021, 10:55:54 AM
Is a "New Era Newbie" is someone who registered after the merit system was implemented?
"New Era Newbie" is a member who was a newbie when the merit system as launched and received the first merit after or on September 17, 2018.
A user who received the first merit before that date is called "Old Era Newbie".

3246  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Not Connecting to Any Server on: June 25, 2021, 08:12:33 AM
-  I'm using the same seed that I used for the installer version.  How does the portable program recognize the same seed?  Is it reaching out to the Electrum server to verify, or what?
The seed you enter doesn't need to be verified by a server or any other third party. You can generate same addresses even if your computer is offline.
All your keys (private keys, public keys and addresses) are generated using your seed phrase through some one-sided mathematical calculations without any need to a third party.

- Are there any security compromises in using the portable version vs. installed version?
Yes, Visit the link below and read the topic made by ThomasV.
Warning about portable versions
3247  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: June 25, 2021, 07:51:35 AM
Now, whether or not such a modified search affects the other shown results, by excluding certain words or phrases, I couldn't tell.
It does. That's why I said that this method is not 100% accurate.
Let's say a topic title is "bitcoin" and I don't want posts made on it to be shown in the search result. I add -"bitcoin" to the topic title field. This makes all other topics that the post title includes the word "bitcoin" not be shown.
3248  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: June 24, 2021, 12:43:16 PM
How cool would it be if it was possible to omit a thread from being displayed in the results. Maybe it could be done by entering the topic title or thread ID. Do you think that is something you could do?
If you want the search to not show posts made on a specific thread, add -"The topic title" to the post title field.
This is not 100% accurate, but it may help you.

Note that - sign is used for excluding any word or a phrase from the results and " sign is used for searching for exact phrases.
3249  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem Casascius using Electrum on: June 23, 2021, 09:54:50 AM
what can I do to obtain the forked coins?
For claiming each of fork coins, you need to import your private key into a wallet supporting that fork coin.
The most popular fork coin is bitcoin cash.  The best wallet for accessing your bitcoin cash is electroncash. Download electroncash only from its official website.
Electroncash works same as electrum. You should create a new wallet, select  "Import bitcoin addresses or private keys" and enter your private key(s).

For more information on how to claim bitcoin cash and other fork coins, you can read the guide provided by LoyceV. (Visit the link below.)

3250  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem Casascius using Electrum on: June 23, 2021, 12:31:58 AM
If I try this process using a private key of a Casascius token that has already been redeemed / spent, I should see the transaction attempt to occur in the wallet but not get confirmed (obviously because its already been redeemed).
If you enter a private key associated with a casascius coin that has already been redeemed, the balance of the wallet should be zero. You should also see an outgoing transaction (a transaction with negative amount) spending the fund in "History" tab.
The outgoing transaction has definitely been confirmed.
3251  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to redeem Casascius using Electrum on: June 23, 2021, 12:08:32 AM
p2pkh:PRIVET KEY UNDER THE STICKER in the "description" section
You don't need to enter the private key when sending the fund to coinbase. The private key must be entered when you create the wallet.

Create a new wallet.
Select "Import bitcoin addresses or private keys" and click on "Next". Enter your private key and click on "Next". After that, you should see your balance.

Go "Send" tab. Enter your coinbase address in "Pay to" field and the amount of bitcoin you want to send in "Amount" field.
You can click on "Max" button if you want to send the entire balance.
Leave "Description" field empty.

A new window where you should select the fee will pop-up.
Select the fee and click on "Next".

The higher fee you pay, the sooner your transaction will be confirmed.
If you don't have much information about transaction fee, I recommend you to select "ETA" as estimation method and move the slider to set a target.
Note that blocks are mined at the rate of 1 per 10 minutes on average and that's just an estimation.
For example, if you set the target to "within 5 blocks", your transaction is estimated to be confirmed in 50 minutes.

I downloaded from Freebitco.in and wanted to deposit in Payeer, but I later found out that the minimum they accept is 0.00050000btc,and mine did not have so much.I didn't get anything in Payeer. If I contact Blockchain support won't it help?
You didn't download anything from freebitco. You withdrew your fund from freebitco.
As I said in my previous post, all bitcoin transactions are irreversible. There is no third party that control the bitcoin network and no one can reverse your transaction.
Your fund is now in control of Payeer and you can contact them. Technically, they are able to credit your balance. But I doubt they help you.

Lol, I saw the deleted message) Is the experience successful?  Lips sealed
Sorry. The screenshot I posted didn't contain the forum time. I decided to replace the screenshot with a new one. But I had some problem with imgur when uploading the new screenshot. I deleted that post until the issue is resolved.
Will share the result soon.

Will active time be doubled if I use 2 devices at the same time? Furthermore, staying active without logging out also increases uptime, right?
Not

It's now 9:22 PM (GMT)  and my total time logged in is 185 days, 10 hours and 13 minutes.

Now I am online with my account in two different devices.
I will open pages with both devices continuously and will post my total time logged in again in 20 minutes.

Update:
it's now 9:42 PM (GMT) and my total time logged in is 185 days, 10 hours and 48 minutes

My total time logged in increased by 35 minutes in 20 minutes.
3254  Other / Meta / Re: Bug in “Most Time Online” stats? on: June 22, 2021, 06:10:12 PM
To all of the above, I can only add that three years ago the data was displayed correctly ... I don’t remember the details anymore, but the leaders of this list were definitely Lauda and Mitchell, and a few other old participants whose stay online did not exceed 1000 days ..
You can click here to see the saved snapshot of stats page taken on June 2016.
The top ranked user was hmblm1245 with 1635 days being online. Mitchell was ranked 9th with 590 days.

Or here to see the saved snapshot taken on April 2018.
The top ranked user was again hmblm1245 with 2123 days being online. Lauda was ranked 4th with 1068 days. Mitchell was also in 7th place with 872 days.

You are right. Seems that the data was correct in the past.

Hello!I want to ask, if a transaction is confirmed but unsuccessful, can the request be returned to the balance?
What do you mean by "confirmed but unsuccessful"?
Did you withdraw from freebitco.in or deposit to freebitco.in? Do you mean you used a wrong address for withdrawal/deposit?
Note that all bitcoin transactions are irreversible. In the case you have withdrawn or deposited to a wrong address, there's nothing you can do.

...........probably in first 5 thousand or so in visitor count as well (making this up, I do not know real number).............
Freebitco is now the 1370th most popular website in the world based on Alexa ranking.
They are ranked higher than all other gambling websites that have thread on this forum.

They are also the 10th most popular website among all gambling websites on similarweb ranking.
3257  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Not Connecting to Any Server on: June 20, 2021, 05:02:56 PM
- Went into Help > Check for Updates, and I get an error saying "Update Check Failed".
This indicates that there's a problem with your internet connection, unless you haven't downloaded electrum from its official website.
That error should be displayed when you are not connected to internet. If you are connected to internet, it should say "Already up to date".

Using a (secure) VPN or not using VPN (if you are using a VPN) may solve your problem.
3258  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: WALLET ADDRESS, IS IT PERMANENT? on: June 20, 2021, 03:53:41 PM
All of your addresses can be used forever and for multiple transactions.
You don't even need to set the expiration time to "Never". As stated by ranochigo, there is no expiration for a bitcoin address.

The purpose of having expiration time for a bitcoin address in electrum is know whether you have received the fund in time or not.
Let's say I want to sell something to you with bitcoin. I tell you that you must send me bitcoin in 1 hour. Otherwise, I won't accept the transaction
I give you an address and set the expiration time to 1 hour. In this way, electrum will show that whether you have sent the fund before the deadline or not.

you can also see the above statement regarding deposit bonus. so yeah, you can enjoy those free spins by depositing any amount. that's a nice promo from them.
A few minutes ago, I received a promotion email from freebitco. The email also says that they give 10 free spins for any amount of deposit.
Below is a part of the message they have sent via email.

What displayed on the website and what stated on the email contradict the post made by freebitco.in PR.
3260  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do i recover my bitcoins for an address? on: June 19, 2021, 09:28:32 PM
how can i open a wallet.dat file on bitcoin core without syncing of blocks?
You can open the wallet without any need to syncing. Just download the latest version of bitcoin core if you don't have it.
If your wallet is not synced, since bitcoin core doesn't have the blockchain, you won't be able to see your balance.

If you have your wallet file and the passphrase (if it's encrypted), you can export the private key of your bitcoin address and import it into a SPV wallet like electrum.
In electrum, you don't need to download the blockchain.
