I just noticed that yours is a DPS2000BB B all of mine are DPS2000BB A

I'll try to find a cheap BB B locally to test.
The only ones I could find with a quick search were 200€ ($220) each.

Edit:

INTEL-ABCEPSU20-2000-WATT-INTERNAL-POWER-SUPPLY-DPS-2000BB-B

It's not made for IBM, so it's very likely that the pinout to turn it on is different on this one.

Thanks J4bberwock.  I'll have to be sure to get the right ones.  I didn't even think that would matter and especially since the breakout board still fit perfectly.  Oh well lesson learned!  Going to try to return these.

mine are rev 7 and 8 both have an A at the end

32503  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Lifetime pool luck for antpool vs kano.is or why aren't you mining with kano.is on: January 31, 2016, 01:00:35 AM
Having dealt numerous times with Phillipma1957 on and off the forum , I would not consider him a sell out or being paid by anyone for what he does.
If he does get paid directly, it is also not our business. He backs his info with facts in any thread he has. He is very helpful on pretty much anything I have ever asked him about in the past.

He is one of the very few people we should NOT be worried about being a sell-out on this SCAM-ridden and BS-filled forum...

On that note, I started on KANO.IS early last year and have been stuck on it (in a good way).
Always earning more than any other pool, even after some less than prosperous days of red blocks.

I only wish KANO would have an alt-coin pool.   Wink

I wrote the thread  because I believe what I wrote.

Sure does help when the luck rate is  over 120%  since I wrote the thread.

the 850 watt at newegg is a good  deal if he does the rebate and the discount code  it is 64.99

or he could get the used seasonic from me.

if he is usa based either one is a good deal.
32506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What Power Supply? on: January 30, 2016, 09:37:32 PM
I have a Antminer S5 coming in the Mail, my only concern is power. I'm looking at the CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply. (sold from NewEgg) Since the power supply is a 600 Watt, and the Antminer pulls 590 Watts will the 10W gap be enough for the Antminer, or will it fluctuate a lot?

Any Suggestions?
Thanks,
Landon

If you are usa based I have a working platinum seasonic 1000 watts.  used and good price.

if you want new look at this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438030&cm_re=evga_psu-_-17-438-030-_-Product

20 rebate and a $5 code

+ USD $5 off w/ promo code EMCEFGK78, ends 2/1

gets you under 70 usd

I believe I never got an older revision than s5 or s6. To try them individually, you can plug the bottom one to the dual breakout hoard. This way, even voltage adjust works with a single PSU.
The pinout for the PSU have to be the same on all revisions, or you'll have trouble on the servers. If the breakout board works with one revision, it'll work on all unless the very old revisions are using another pin combined with the one I use to turn on the PSU.
Or you may have 1 or 2 dead PSUs.

Thanks J4bberwock.  Neither PSU turned on for me.  I'll try them individually next chance I get which probably won't be until Monday or so.

Philip: Wouldn't is be possible with immersion cooling with 3M novec 7000 in a 2 phase system?

okay we know that immersion lets you make the chips more dense.

but no matter what the tank of coolant is sooner of later it reaches its max in heat storage.  that is why you have fans to toss that heat away.

I see 16 fans  on the container

those fans are 3 to 4 feet wide  lets say 4

here are the fans you need

http://trianglefans.com/jet-upblast/

http://trianglefans.com/jd/

they have some 42 inch models that will move 30,000 cfm

I guess 16 of them would work as that is about 500,000 cfm

the avalon6 uses 200cfm to move heat from 1kwatt  and 2000 avalon6's use 2 mega watts so

2000 x 200 = 400,000 cfm  So I guess the air could be moved

Re container: probably a good deal if it costs 1-2mil and you have spare 2MW available.
I calculate that with halving coming and assuming just 2X difficulty increase until july 1 and 2X difficulty increase from July1 to Dec31 maximum bitcoin revenue would be somewhere between $4-5 mil in 12mo and ~$0.9-1.8 mil in electricity cost per year (first number for $0.05/kwh and second for $0.1/kwh).
However, who knows how much difficulty will increase. On the upside, price can increase and bail you out.
I wonder if anybody on the forum have access to 2mW?

I have access to 2MW.

and how will you handle  2MW of heat?

I see the top of that container and its fans giving off 4 million btus on the low end and 8 million btus on the high end

the container has about 40 by 10 foot area  so my heat disposal estimates tell me the fans won't be able to move 8 million  btus .  if anyone can tell me more info on this I would love to hear about the heat from those fans.

Well... to be honest, I'm overpaying.  Just figured the pool could use a boost and stepped up to the plate to take a swing.
But doing that keeps the price up and just pays not-so-nice-hash more of their silly high 6% fee.

yep  and I am holding out on renting  for this pool and for mmpool

I am doing a small rental  for the compac stick pool

and all my in house miners are at kano.is

I have sworn off all pools in China and all hashing on hashnest and I also no longer have any gear hosted by Li (although he was good to me).

I am awaiting the shipping on the avalons I will go back up from 2.5 to 4 avalon6's in house.

I think the plan will be 4 avalon6's and the 1 s-7 to kano.is

and if I get prices from nice-west hash to rent for

i guess next diff = %7.2

you are not eligible

read here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1341763.msg13684685#msg13684685

we have had fraudulent entries so I had to put in that rule

if you had  entered with correct format I most likely would have just clicked and dragged you into place

but you wrote your entry really off

correct        +7.2 = tekno

wrong          I guess next diff =%7.2

I took a closer look at you because of that error and I read your profile  you joined on Dec 1 2015 Not early as the rules say Oct 31 2015

Since the point of the thread is fun and a free chance to get some coin I am inclined to try to figure a way to allow you in the game.

You joined on Dec 1
I read your all your posts  and looked at your profile.
You can write  2 languages  and seem to be a  real not a fake account.
So  when The next contest starts about Feb 10 I will update the Joined time from Oct 31 to Dec 1
You will be able to join the contest then.

Best regards Phil

32519  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: New group buy -Avalon6 -$1100 - Closing soon Thur. the 28th Now closed! on: January 30, 2016, 05:56:57 AM

Thanks for getting me in on this Phil. Hello all.
If you ever need anything instantly just text me. For a new miner to play with I will always answer immediately haha.
Phil, I would always get with you right away.
(By the way there is a list of addresses where you can text from your PC for all of the Cell Carriers on ZachM's Kano.IS CKPool site.)

I've wanted this Avalon miner but the cost was not working on paper, until I added a couple of other variables. The cost of RMAing parts with a-nother manufacturer has cost which must be factored in, time spent with hashboards going back and forth, time spent with hashboards going back and forth, time spent writing e-mails to go through 4 phases of life trying to get help, polite, stern, upset, pleading, passing out Smiley

Any tips for a new Avalon 6 user? I also haven't played with a pi, but I've played with all sorts of other similar components and I can scrape by in Linux. I do well when copying and pasting someone else's commands.
Where is the best underclock thread?
How are the failure rates? Anything special I should look out for when looking under the hood?
I checked the support section but didn't find the right manual yet. I'd like to see manufacturer specifications for power. Do you think this unit will be 1200?

Thanks all

I think it will use 1100 watts to do about 3700gh

So if you are a 120 volt guy the evga 1300 is pretty much spot on to run this gear.

Suggestions gear the room under 92f  I am setting my freq at 500 with my fans at 45%
My temps are steady at 66c  the room is about 82 f

don't get the room really hot don't over volt.

Every fail has been running boards with high volts 3 separate boards burned

at high volts like 12.7 or 12.8 input volts.

@ every one in on this buy I did not get the shipping info as of 1 am  I am going to crash.

Yan should post them via pm to me on sat or sun
32520  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How do you protect your hardware? on: January 30, 2016, 05:48:15 AM
How are you guys protecting your hardware against extreme weather and power outages?
Do you shutdown the miners if there is a possibility for power outages?

I'm asking because of the strong winds that is hitting Norway today, measured up to 42m/s.
My electric company has warned us that we should be prepared for power outages.
Should I shut them off? What can happen? And can I protect myself from it?

How you secure yourself against theft etc. would also be interesting, for the sake of discussion.

Weather stats: https://www.windyty.com/?2016-01-31-12,63.417,10.417,6

Picture of my intake and outtake/exhaust, guess which is which!  Cheesy

My other concern would be the wind closing the window where the air comes in, making everything overheat.

PS: Anyone know why the  won't work?

Cheers
cryptotore

you are new so you do not have photo privileges.  We had a new guy do a lot of porn spam thus newbies can not post an image.  Since my Grandmother  was born in Oslo and that makes me ¼ Norwegian  I posted your photo.

I suggest you put something in the window that prevent it from closing.
I also suggest you power off for 12 hours to play it safe. Then if the window did not slam shut because your brace kept it open.  Leave the miners on next storm.
