3262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Gateways: Who trusts who? on: May 22, 2013, 07:50:34 AM
I need to choose a Ripple Gateway trustworthy enough to hold $10's of USD for me while I test out Ripple. I have no experience with any existing BTC exchanges/counter parties.

So my open question is? Who do you trust? Tell me your GOOD experiences? No flame wars please.

Bitstamp is very good and Ripple is fast and I will admit I like it.

HOWEVER I have been around in Ripple a while and traded a few BTC into Ripple and back.  Suddenly, you cannot get BTC out of Ripple and back into Bitstamp - so it is not a gateway for BTC /Ripple, right now it is only a trap door.

Admittedly Bitstamp are saying they are 'looking into this problem' or 'fixing it soon '  But when 'soon' actually IS, is anyone's guess.

Internal trading inside Ripple to get Ripple into USD or vice versa is not really practical, the only exchange trading there is inside is in BTC/XRP, but if the largest gateway is not letting you get BTC out, it is a little concerning.

What is your quote now? XRP/BTC

Hi there - Ripple just announced a huge new giveaway of XRP (yesterday) so the price dropped overnight by half.

I am sorry, but it's a much too volatile just now to talk sensibly on a price, it's not in either of our interests.

By the time we had set up something with John K, one of us would find the situation had changed in a way that was not in our favour!

Apologies, but I think I am going to shut shop a little while and wait for things settle a little.

Then I will be back, I will send you a courtesy mail in case you are still interested.

Regards,

Richard
3264  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MartinReynolds - SCAMMER ID on: May 11, 2013, 02:10:07 AM
I'm done with this forum, I am leaving. I'm sorry if you say I did scam you but I know I didn't.

Goodbye.

Good riddance you scumbag, small-time petty thief.

The fact is you gained the trust of, and then conned honest people.  You simply lied and stole.

But hey, I and the other people who unfortunately crossed your path will move on and it's no big deal.

But you..? You will eat alone and die alone.

You are, and always will be cheap trash. A blood-sucking leach, ripping off ordinary, trusting people.

Goodbye?  Good people don't miss sickness and disease, they get over it and move on.

I pity the banal stinking sewer that is your evil; the sheer emptiness of your goals in life, and you crowing about it (on other parts of this forum) was sickening.  What did you make, a few hundred bucks?  You probably think that is a good result, but only because you have such limited, tiny horizons.  I hope you try ripping off someone even more evil than you and get your just desserts.  Which would be a slow, painful and lonely end.

Anyone reasonable knows that if this is the price of your integrity, it is therefore the value of your entire existence.

But then, you probably don't know any reasonable people, right?  Someone like you has no friends and never gets invited to the cool parties. Girls just think you are odd and a bit of a loser, which is why you want to get back at normal people, hiding behind your pseudo identity, which you can be much cooler and more powerful than you could ever hope to be.

The online identity you WISH was you, is of course just a fake version of the ugly, socially inept and emotionally crippled person you are in reality.

You see; scum like you have no empathy.

Therefore it is logical to assume you have no friends - and it is also logical to conclude the balance of probability is that no one.... on this entire planet - gives a shit about your pathetic existence.

From what I know of psychology, I think a good shrink would diagnose your criminal and sociopathic activities stem from your feelings of chronic sexually inadequacy.

Certainly, it is obvious the only way you could ever get any sort of connection with another human being is by paying for it, but I am sure you already do just that.

One thing that makes me smile is that your twisted ego will mean you will inevitably take a look at this thread update and read this.

So this is for you, and it was my pleasure.

You give human beings a bad name. You are a non-entity, an evolutionary cul-de-sac and a worthless piece of excrement.

I would not piss on you if you were on fire.

3265  Economy / Currency exchange / SELLING YOUR RIPPLE XRP? - Escrow John K ONLY - PM me? on: May 10, 2013, 11:19:17 PM
Thanks for the enquiries and PMs, but with a new giveaway of XRP just announced, I will be shutting up shop until things settle down a bit.

Cheers!

Shocked

Scumbag - you are a lowlife worm, with as much class as a house fly vomiting on rotting meat.

I feel sorry for you, you are so small time and insignificant. At least I know you will die lonely, you sad fuck.

Little boy who got bullied at school, and never got a girlfriend, eh?

Hah - enjoy your triumph, it is too small for anyone but you to appreciate.

Small change for a small man - in every way, no doubt.

You couldn't afford my time, so I won't give you any more for free.

You're an insignificant little cunt.

I feel better now.

3267  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] Selling Ripples [Bitcoin] on: May 08, 2013, 12:28:49 AM
Where can I buy ripples?  Can I just go and buy them on an exchange? I not worth buying them on the forums.

Sign up for ripple...

Or I can sell you some, but you will need a ripple wallet for me to send you them.

And I will only trade via Escrow - e.g. John K.  Unless you are ok to trust me and send me BTC first Smiley

Today, 1BTC = 6500 ripples (XRP) if you're buying.  Min 0.5 BTC, but I will allow test trade of 0.1 BTC if you need reassurance.

I just got burned today, only 1BTC, but enough to make me sure I want to see payment first!

Best (honest) advice is really sign up at ripple - but I will admit it's hassle to get any, unless you already have some to start with - they don't let you trade unless you already have a balance.

Let me know if I can help, but I will not pay out and hope transaction will be honoured after today's experience.  Once bitten...

You can try a smaller amount to check me out first - but ask a price when you are ready and I can help, although any price will be valid for a small time window only.  Prices are changing fast, and largely upwards.

Escrow via John K is fine, if he is amenable and you are not on his no-no list.

Regards,

K

He is online, but XRPs transfers are instant, therefore you should already have them.
Give him some time more to post something. If not, open each of you a thread on the scam accusations board against him, with his name on the subject to be easy for everyone to identify the scammer: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0
I avoid sending first, but would never send as first tranche with someone like him more than 0.1 btc and would always check first if he had the XRPs in his address.

Done this - hope it keeps someone else from harm.

Thanks for the advice, I need to be more careful.

Escrow in future...  It's annoying as I want to have trading opportunities here as well as through the exchanges, but it's just not safe.

Time to chat to John K.

Watch this one, myself and at least one other scammed.

Selling BTC / RIPPLE / LTC and whatever....

Plausible, reasonable and criminal.

See thread and watch your backs, eh?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197430.msg2062107

Be careful out there, and watch out for his next ID in a few days, eh?

This guy was a few times in interaction with this guy: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=196082.0
I wonder if they are the same.

Yeah - he is very slick, it would not surprise me.

Still online - am watching his posts here, but he's lying a little low.

Judging by his past msgs he is pretty tech savvy, knows his way around a block chain.

And seems to have been selling / auctioning everything from vouchers and LTC to BTC and ripple.

Caveat emptor - I have foolishly been easily parted from my money.

Only a 1BTC 'trust trade' - but I guess for him, being as he was prepared to run with only 1 BTC, it means he's happy.  If he had sent me that I was going to send more - so he is not 'that' clever!

Small beer players with small dicks and sociopathic tendencies are out there, looking to scam.

just watch out people - there are genuinely real scumbags out there.

Ho hum...

Not that I am ANNOYED. Of course not - I just wish I knew how to cause some pain and stop his game Wink

I also sent 1 BTC and still waiting ......

He went very quiet an hour ago - hmm...

I wanted a lot more, but figured I would try one first.

I figured no-one who can spell does a scam for 1BTC.

But if I am not alone...

Still time for it to come right - let's try to be positive, eh?

 Undecided
3275  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTS] 74,000 Ripples [Bitcoin] on: May 07, 2013, 07:17:53 PM
Sold 1 BTC worth to Kurious, pending 3 confirmations on the block chain.

Reserved 2 BTC worth for another trade with him

Still selling more.

Sold - but not 'yet' received - before everyone assumes this is an endorsement!

Kurious (that's me) sent 1 BTC and is still waiting patiently to receive XRP.

I will confirm as soon as I do, happy to recommend as soon as it's all good....

I went direct, seemed a genuine chap - hope I was right.

Will report.

Hey,

Selling 74,000 Ripples. I did auction these but the buyer was communicating then just went offline and I really want to get these sold so relisting them.

Looking for around 10,000 Ripples - 1BTC.

If you do require us to use a Escrow it will be JohnK and JohnK only.

Feel free to send me a PM.

Just sent PM - am interested, have XRP wallet as well as BTC of course.

Please advise your preferred method of doing business?

Iceland!

Possibly the coolest country in the world - and with plenty of cheap, green power for server farms....

A lot of frustrated people there who are tech savvy, highly educated and savvy with banking and exchange - they have to be!

Gets my vote - seriously.
3278  Economy / Economics / Re: Selling Digital Goods with Bitcoin on: May 05, 2013, 11:17:47 PM
Well there has been softwares being sold for BTC, it's growing daily however it hasn't grown commercially.
Most of these sellers are personal sellers that sell their own products.
No serious business paying rent in fiat, with employees who need paying can sell goods in BTC with the price fluctuating so wildly.  It would be irresponsible to do so.

I would not put a major portion of my turnover at risk by selling in fixed BTC prices, it would be suicidal if it was serious money.  Bit coin is just speculative unless it has a (relatively) stable price and can actually be exchanged for real items of value with confidence.

3279  Economy / Economics / Re: 1 BTC = 2000 USD on: May 05, 2013, 11:12:04 PM
I think that bitcoin is too unstable, and if this trend continues, it'll  never reach a value of even $1000 per coin.

Really agree.

I think that BTC don't will be strong stable never (or not in the nexts 5-10 years). But maybe we will see this price caused for the reduced number of bitcoins compared to population.

I also agree, just imagine how many people would sell their bitcoins when they hit $1000 or $500 even. People fear the instability and want to cash out and hedge their losses generally. The bitcoin would have to crush fiat to truly climb.

6 months ago people would have been saying the same thing about getting to 100 USD. But the people who sell have to be selling to somebody, so for every person who sold at 100 because they thought the price was going too high, there is somebody who bought at 100 because they think the price could go higher still and/or they think 100 is a good price.

It's interesting when you put it that way. It's a good thing to know someone has high hopes for the future of bitcoin.

Hmmm....  Unless it stablises, it cannot be used to buy and sell things in the real world, until then it is only worth what speculation means it is perceived as being worth.   I am a believer, but it's a long road to these kind of values and if it does 'spike' to 2000 bucks, a lot of damage when it crashes back down will make a lot of mess. People were buying at 250USD + recently, and they got burned.   there will be a lot more money at stake at the 2000 mark, and it may not be good news.  The price now is what we make it, it does not reflect a real value - there isn't one that is measurable other than in the actual bitcoin market propped up by the beliefs of those who hold - and trade in it.

I guess that's what most people here are doing... :p

I certainly am - been grazing here for weeks - didn't realise I needed to do this, just thought posting was not working!
