At the start DeSantis looked like a winning candidate but he sure has a way to distant himself from the public.
I might be biased as my politics are total opposite of him, but the side of me who wants to make money via betting on this doesn't believe him winning either.

Even I thought that Ron DeSantis had a good chance of winning the GOP nomination in 2024. But he floundered his chances. He couldn't garner courage to attack Trump, and then he delayed announcing his candidature for too long. And when finally he announced his candidacy, it got botched up due to some technical issues in Twitter. Also, momentum swung in favor of Trump due to the ongoing criminal proceedings. DeSantis's candidacy was dead even before it was launched. Unless there is going to be some miracle in the next few months, I would advise him to drop out of the race.

Probably he wanted to go to MLS because he had seen other players go there previously! ! That’s what probably inspired him to go there. He is also getting some good treatment to go there. It is not like he is not getting paid well. In fact, he is getting paid quite a handsome amount of money. But it is true that when we think about the other options, it is certainly a little surprising that he went to Inter Miami.

Messi will get a lucrative contract with Inter Miami and there is no doubt regrading that. But no matter how lucrative it is, the new contract will be nowhere near the one that Al Hilal was offering. They were willing to pay up to $1.2 billion for just two years. Initially I thought that Messi rejected the offer from Saudis because he wanted to move to Barca. But then that was also not the case. If that was the excuse, then Messi would have said that he wanted to stay in Europe since the quality of competition is quite high. But with MLS there is no such excuse. The quality is even worse compared to the Saudi Professional League.

It is true that money is man's greatest friend in life. But some cases may have unique reasons. Here, Benzema has come to the Saudi league not just for money, but also for unique reasons. In the beginning, Benzema says that he is a Muslim, being a Muslim he wanted to live in a Muslim country. So what do you think Benzema came here to the Saudi League for money? On the other hand I give an example like Messi left PSG to Inter Miami but for a very low salary. Messi was offered much more money by the Saudi club than Miami, but he joined the Miami club instead of going to the Saudi club. From here it can be understood that people do not do everything for money.

There are a lot of Muslim nations around the world. What makes Saudi Arabia more special than the others? Benzema was attracted by the money that the Saudis are offering. He don't need to give such ridiculous excuses. Actually all this is not needed. Football is just like any other profession. Players have every right to chose a club that offers them a bigger paycheck. Given this, why should he give such ridiculous excuses? And I have mentioned this before. Dragging religion to sport is a big no-no for me. It can make other players in SPL quite uncomfortable.

In the first inning, bowling was bad but batting was worse from the top order, most of them got an okay start but failed to continue for a long, our lower order came to rescue to some extent.

In the second inning, bowlers did a fairly good job and batters did show intent but again failed to convert their good starts to big innings, it happened with all the top 5. Literally, everyone got a good start and they were looking really good.

Apart from the batsmen, the majority of the blame goes to management because our bowlers did look tired. Umesh was completely out of touch, he didn't go through his usual runup when bowling, i believe he wasn't 100% fit.

For an important match such as the WTC final, they refused to play any warmup matches. On the other hand, many of the Australian players were already in England, playing for various county and club sides months before the match. It was almost as if this match was not important for the Indian team. If someone gets a good start and then fails to convert it to a century, then the possible reasons are lack of focus and seriousness. And this is the hint that I got while watching this test match. Anyway, the Ashes is going to start by next week. Hopefully it will be more enjoyable compared to this debacle.

@Sithara007 Something interesting happening between Disney Hotstar and Zee. Do you remember these parties made a statement regarding sharing ICC rights?

Guess what? It's still not final after 8 long months. At the same time, Disney made the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments free to watch for its mobile users. 2014 Jio effect happening again, this time with the streaming domain.

Don't know much about the first part. I thought that the deal was already finalized. And regarding the free broadcast for Asia Cup and ICC World Cup, I guess it is available only for mobile users. Hotstar is trying to replicate the JioTV model, where the OTT platform ended up with significant advertisement revenues during this season of the IPL. That said, I don't know how successful this model can be, given the fact that ad revenues are way below the amount both these companies paid for the IPL media rights (₹25,484 crore for Star India).

Like everyone else I would say that PCB has taken a good decision if their cricket board had not accepted it would have a bad impact on their cricket.Hopefully, if everything goes well, we will see a beautiful Asia Cup. And thanks to ICC for finding a solution to this problem.

ICC didn't did anything. Asia Cup is being organized by the ACC and the deal was reached between the BCCI, PCB, SLCB, BCB and ACB. It would have been better if they had selected the United Arab Emirates or Oman as the co-hosts. Instead they went for Sri Lanka. Now the traveling part is going to be complicated. For Nepal and some of the other teams, they need to travel to Sri Lanka and Pakistan within a couple of days and then play matches. PCB was also in favor of hosting the matches in UAE/Oman, since they would have received gate collections. But the other boards were against that idea.

Australia played amazingly like India team, so much power to beat Shali team by 209 runs, I think it is a big achievement for Australia team. Australia team's bowling and batsmen's game was very good. Just as India team's bowling line was weak, India's batting line was also bad.  But Rohit Sharma batted badly in 1st inns but scored good runs in 2nd inns. India lost this match like this due to poor performance of their players.  I did not expect India to lose to Australia by so many runs.

From India's part, the batting was somewhat OK. It was their bowling which resulted in the defeat. First and foremost, the decision to drop Ravichandran Ashwin was a big blunder. I understand that Shardul Thakur is a better allrounder, but given how Jadeja troubled the Australian batsmen, one more spinner in the squad would have been very helpful. Ashwin could have been included in the place of Umesh Yadav, or even in exchange for another batsman. The last time India won an ICC championship was back in 2013. The long wait continues....

India have got little chance to get back into the game and hope for a draw. Australia team have already scored 123/4 which for India is good, but the lead is already close to 300 runs. With Labuschagne, Green, Alex Carey, Cummins left behind surely we can expect another 100 runs from Australia. If things go well Australia could set a target of 450+ runs for sure. In such situation it'll really hard for India to chase, but Australia have the power packed bowling lineup that could defend. Also the highest fourth innings run chase in the history of test cricket is 418 runs.

Anything below 400 would make the match interesting. Australia has a lead of 296 now, and they still need another 104 runs to reach that point. And it is not going to be easy. The pitch is behaving a bit differently in the past two days, when compared to the first day. But this lead would have been much bigger if not for the lack of discipline from the Australian bowlers. Pat Cummins got his wickets annulled a total of 3 times, after he overstepped the line. And then a lot of easy catches were dropped. Anyway, Australia is firmly in command here and they should be able to win this match.

I was trying to avoid responding in this matter but i noticed few responses with political correctness which is very convenient approach, also saw the guys preaching and acting morally superior who literally believe that women and kafirs are second-class citizens in their respective countries or neibhourhood.

In the last 4-5 years there are almost 50+ of these types of cases happened in Delhi-NCR +UP only. Remember the guy who chopped off his gf and stacked her body parts in the freezer? or the recent one where an underage girl was stabbed 21 times and then her head was smashed by stone multiple times, it was caught on camera.

I agree on the only thing that if you don't have backbone then you should avoid this sort of thing and even if you do ffs avoid acting like an ignorant individual because it plays into Islamist's hands and Islamist lobbies are like zombies, they feed on it and pampered by almost everyone due to their street power which is based on pure violence and hate against everything including life or modern civilization for that matter. We saw what happened to Salman Rushdie and during the Nupur Sharma controversy.

Fuck the political correctness and fuck these Islamists.

The question is - are IPL players allowed to make such posts? Because if one player makes such a post favoring one side of the political spectrum, then sometime later another player may make a post opposing it. For example, if some of the players make a post on Kashmir as a response to Yash Dayal's post how can anyone oppose it? The best thing to do would be to prohibit active players from getting involved in this sort of politics (I think the clauses in IPL does that). On my part, I am completely against any involvement of politics in cricket. And that is why I condemned the Indian team when Hardik Pandya convinced them to take a knee to support the BLM movement (during the T20 World Cup in 2021).

What a surprise? Shardul Thakur and Ajinkya Rahane has so far piled up 77 runs for the 7th wicket. And more importantly, they have piled up all these runs in just above 16 overs. India can't expect the remaining tailenders to add a lot many runs, but if these two stays there for another hour or so, then the follow on can be avoided. And if the Shami and Siraj can lead a fightback sometime today (with the ball obviously), then there are still chances for India. BTW, where is Boland? Other bowlers are looking pretty much ineffective for Australia.

It is 100% going to be easy to get visa if you have a ticket.

You have no idea about the US visa system. A few years back, my B1 visa was put on hold for 6 months, just because of some administrative formalities. And many of my friends have faced difficulties with different types of visa. If you are a citizen of some of the developed nations, then it is relatively easy for you to get your hands on a US visa. But if you are from countries such as India and Pakistan, then it takes a lot of background checks and additional verifications to get a visa approved. In short, having a valid ticket doesn't guarantee you a US visa.

In the post he posted, Muslims are directly belittled. No religion teaches to belittle other religions. He is a future star of Indian cricket never expected such a post from him. When he posted after posting everyone criticized him a lot for this post he later said his account was hacked but within moments how he got back the hacked account. I think since he is a cricketer his limit should be within cricket. He has very little knowledge about religion so he posts like this. One can never highlight one's own religion by downplaying other's religion. He must be suspended for what he did.

Words and action doesn't add up. Humans make mistakes. It takes a lot of courage to say "sorry". In this case, if he had apologized, then the matter would have been closed. But he became over-smart. At first he put a status claiming that it was a genuine mistake and he is sorry for that. Then probably his lawyer or legal adviser asked him to claim that his account was hacked. And within 5 minutes or so, he retracted his apology, and claimed that he did nothing wrong. I don't know whether anyone is stupid enough to say whatever lies coming out of his mouth. I don't expect any action from GT. The BCCI should suspend him for a couple of years from the IPL and domestic cricket.

WTF is this?

Never in my life, I have seen such a one-sided match in football. And Latvia is not that bad. I have watched a few matches of their men's team (during FIFA World Cup qualifiers and Euro Cup qualifier), but their performance was quite decent. But then women's football is an entirely different domain. In the last 10-15 years, I might have watched a maximum of 2-3 women's matches. But it will be bad for the game, if this discipline is dominated by a handful of teams. BTW, for viewers in India, this tournament will be shown in Sports 18 HD. In OTT, the matches will be shown live on JioTV.

Two 50-over matches ongoing at the moment. The first one is between Karnataka and Namibia. After an initial wobble, Namibia seems to have managed to stabilize their innings and have moved to 142/4 after 31.1 overs, with Jan Frylinck at 66. Overall, this series has been a disappointment for Namibia. The only plus point has been their win in the second match, where they successfully chased a target of 360. Now Frylinck and Michau du Preez are at crease and they maybe targeting a total of at least 250-260 (which may still be not enough).

LOL.. Scot Boland is just unplayable. And there is a lot of uneven bounce in the pitch. It was a gem of a delivery that got him the wicket of KS Bharat. Now India is down to 152/6, and the last recognized batting pair (Ajinkya Rahane - Shardul Thakur) is at crease. Again, India made the blunder by including Umesh Yadav in the place of Ashwin. If Ashwin was there, then he could have added some runs down the order. And for Boland, his test bowling average as of now remains at 13.53 (he has taken 30 wickets till now and he is playing his 8th test match).

United Arab Emirates vs West Indies
Today is the third match of West Indies vs UAE series. West Indies have won both the last two matches. West Indies won the series by winning two matches. UAE will be whitewashed if West Indies win today's match. I think West Indies will win today's match. Because West Indies have performed well and won the last two matches. UAE failed to score 250+ in last two matches. UAE scored only 206 in the first match and 228 in the second.

No one is expecting the United Arab Emirates to defeat West Indies. For the West Indians, this tournament will give them some preparation ahead of the ODI World Cup qualifier, which is about to start by 18th June. They are placed in the same group as Netherlands, Nepal and Zimbabwe. And trust me, it is not going to be easy for the West Indians. Nepal is in terrific form, while Zimbabwe will have the advantage of playing at home. And then Netherlands has a reputation of making upsets. Even if they qualify for the super-6, getting in to the finals will be tough.
3277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 09, 2023, 06:25:56 AM
On the first day, we saw the dominance of Australia's batsmen. And on the second day too we saw the dominance of Australian bowlers. The IPL ended a few days ago. I thought Indian batsmen can play with responsibility in this match. Kohli has played very well in IPL. But no top-order batsman can collect more than 15 runs. Such poor batting was not expected from India's experienced top-order players. The Indian team is still behind by 318 runs. If Rahane doesn't play big innings I would say India will definitely lose this match.

Rahane may make some runs, but he needs support from the other end. After Bharath and Shardul, India is down to the tail and tailend. This is where Ashwin would have been valuable. Numerous times he rescued India in the past, with significant knocks down the order. And I don't think that avoiding the follow on will be a priority for India. Australia is unlikely to implement the follow on even if they get a lead of 200 plus. Because they don't want to bat on 4th and 5th day, as Jadeja really troubled some of the Australian batsmen in the first innings. Once they get Indian batsmen out, Australia is likely to bat again irrespective of the lead.

Messi is always in the spotlight indeed the latest news is that Messi is willing to join Inter Miami but previously there was other news he did not refuse to join the Saudi league rumors he delayed a year to join there meaning he still has an interest in joining anywhere it's just that next season he wants to try the experience in the American league, Messi  father plays a role in a negotiation.

Yes.. as far as I know, Messi has confirmed that he is moving to Inter Miami. The financial details were not revealed though. I am sure that he would have landed a lucrative deal, although it may be not as good as the one offered by the Saudi side (£345million per year was being offered by Al Hilal). The offer from the MLS club maybe similar to the one offered to David Beckham by LA Galaxy back in 2007. Messi might be offered an opportunity to become one of the co-owners of Inter Miami. And that will be financially rewarding for him in the long run.
3279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2022/2023 on: June 09, 2023, 04:19:19 AM
Not sure about the performance though. Karim Benzema is 35 years old and age-wise he is not much younger than Ronaldo. Saudi Professional League should not be a refuge for all those players who are looking for a big fat paycheck towards the end of their career. That is why I liked the contract signed between N'Golo Kante and Al-Ittihad (worth €100 million). Kante is 32 years old and still has a lot of time left in his career. The long term plan of Saudis is to be able to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. I have to say that they are moving in the right direction.
Kante may be using ittihad as a way to end his career. He was getting €100 million for in any season for two years. It's caused by ittihad has been signing him for two years.
Kante will get €200 million in total which is a lot compared his salary in chelsea when he was only receiving around €15 million for a season. Glad to see that if he has the same vision as benzema. Kante will also able to retire from football if he wants after he will be playing in ittihad.

Since he has same religion as benzema and it could also become his main reason. Im happy to see that kante was making it. Ittihad will become his new home very soon.
He will be also playing with his friend benzema as both were also coming from france.
I hope that saudi will become the next host for the world cuo.

I don't like all this talk about religion. Karim Benzema is saying that he is a Muslim and therefore he is happy to play in Saudi Arabia. In that case what is his opinion about the country of his birth? He represented France for one and half decade, and from his statement should we assume that he doesn't feel any loyalty to that country because the majority of the population is not following his religion? This is the first time I am hearing a statement from some big international player that he preferred a particular club mainly because of religion. Extremely disappointing.
3280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: June 09, 2023, 03:13:13 AM
Indian top order batsmen are all out Ajinkya Rahane and Srikar Bharat if these two batsmen are out today at the beginning of the day then it cannot be said for sure whether India can get 250 runs. But at the start of the day both the fast bowlers and the spinners department will get a great advantage. It is not possible to say whether India can take 250 runs.

It bamboozles me when I think that none of the top-4 Indian batsmen could make a score of more than 15, in a flat track. And at the start, both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins were looking pretty wayward. It was the introduction of Scott Boland which swung the momentum in favor of the Australians again. And yesterday he looked like the best bowler out there. Starc and Cummins picked up one wicket each, but they never looked that threatening. Also, Cameron Green and Nathan Lyon bowled really well. The ball that got Cheteshwar Pujara clean bowled was an absolute gem.

Don't have much to say about the Indian performance. Unless the oldies like Kohli and Rohit are removed from the team, I don't think that India will ever again win any of the ICC tournaments.
