3261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2023, 12:03:43 PM
Your fee is too low for current mempool state

The situation with mempool doesn't look that bad, there are currently only about 9000 unconfirmed transactions and with a few quick blocks that will clear up. 2.4 sat/byte is currently somewhere in the zone between No priority and Low priority but not so far that it won't be confirmed in the next few hours.

3262  Economy / Economics / Re: Reserve Bank of India Governor Calls for an Outright Crypto Ban on: January 16, 2023, 11:55:52 AM
~snip~
And haven't we heard this kind of talk from India before?

If you look back over the last 10 years, you will always find stories like this related to at least 3 countries, one of which is India, and the remaining two are Russia and China. The key thing that connects them all is the very low level of transparency of the political system, which also shows that they want as much control as possible over their citizens, especially in the financial aspect.

I honestly thought that the tax they imposed was something that would end the story, because the state is in profit, but when the governor of the central bank says "crypto is "nothing but gambling" then everything is clear.

However, even with the ban, anyone can still use Bitcoin through DEX, although it will certainly not be easy for anyone in the event that this happens, given that the penalties that were discussed were very high.
3263  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Ads-delivered malware drains NFT influencer’s entire crypto wallet on: January 16, 2023, 11:33:22 AM
A classic amateur move, because how else to describe that nowadays someone is not aware that Google ads should be avoided at all costs, and that it is best to prevent them from being seen at all by installing uBlock Origin, which will block all such ads. When I read a story like this, I only get more disappointed that people are so unaware of basic internet security, and present themselves as some kind of crypto experts.

I read the article and came across another incredible piece of information, the victim of this hack had a hardware wallet, but that only shows that even such a device can't protect you if you don't use it correctly.

Quote
Alex believes the “critical mistake” that allowed the wallet hack was setting up his hardware wallet as a hot wallet by entering its seed phrase “in a way that no longer kept it cold,” or offline which allowed hackers to gain control of his crypto and NFTs.
3264  Other / Meta / Re: How many forum members do you know by real name? on: January 16, 2023, 11:20:49 AM
Given that bitcointalk is a specific forum where many users value their privacy, it is quite logical to me that very few members have met in real life, but on the other hand, those who trade in physical things know each other's real names. I can't say the exact number of people whose real name I know, because over the years in communication with some members they wrote me their real name, but let's say the number is between 5-10.
3265  Other / Meta / Re: Users Changed Name 2023 on: January 15, 2023, 04:01:46 PM
(Change of username is one of the most difficult requests)

I would not agree with that statement, because you received your change in a few days, and most others didn't wait more than a week after the request. The whole point is how each individual member will support his request, or rather if he is asking for a name change for a good/meaningful reason or if he just wants a cosmetic change because he just doesn't like the current name.

I know of at least one case where a forum member got at least two name changes in a very short period of time, which only confirms that it is by no means the most difficult request.
3266  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: ⭐CHEAP⭐ ✅SPORT ✅ MUSIC ✅ STREAMING ✅ EDUCATION ✅ VPN SECURITY ✅ TORRENT ✅ ETC on: January 15, 2023, 03:37:37 PM
do you have verizon fios in stock?

Do you have Verizon Fios accounts in stock?

Is some random beginner just stupid and asks the same questions every year, or are you using your alt accounts to create the appearance that someone is interested in your services?

In addition, what you are selling has nothing to do with premium accounts, everything is shared or at least of dubious origin...
3267  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Trade Tweets with your trusted Broker on: January 15, 2023, 03:03:33 PM
Considering that so many millions literally depend on being on Twitter all the time and waiting for their digital leader to tweet, I guess your service makes sense - even though millions of users have already moved away from that social network and don't want to participate in any experiments led by Mr. Mars.

It would be interesting if he finds out about this bot of yours and plays a little with the tweets Roll Eyes
3268  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Wondering how much my account is worth ? on: January 15, 2023, 02:38:30 PM
2022/2023 Crisis? I will suggest you keep the account. I regretted selling one last 3 years.
---
Fortunately, the person who bought the account is using it to promote bounty related services

If you have already sold your BTT account, then you should have kept it to yourself, and not publicly brag about it, regardless of the fact that your reputation has already been destroyed. You could have written us the exact profile so that both of you can get a well-deserved award from the forum - because there is nothing positive in the fact that someone promotes various shitcoins projects through that account.
3269  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bybit now forcing users to carry out Facial recognition when withdrawing. on: January 15, 2023, 12:10:48 PM
Perhaps their users should be happy that they are not asked to take a selfie showing their street name and house number, as is the case with one of the online casinos whose case we discussed on the forum. But CEX will demand more and more, not only because they want it, but because it will be demanded of them by those who will increasingly regulate the crypto market.

Maybe it's not so bad in the end, because people will turn more and more to decentralized crypto exchanges, and there is no KYC needed out there.
3270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price guess, 2023 on: January 15, 2023, 11:50:54 AM
22% of those who voted chose that the highest price in 2023 will be below 20k and they were obviously wrong, and as things stand, it is very likely that those who chose the $20k-$30k option, which is almost 44%, will also be wrong.

The years before the halving were usually relatively successful and I think it is not unrealistic to expect that this year we will have even 100% growth compared to the bottom, which would raise the price of BTC above $30k, and that will then be a very good starting point on the way to $100k in the next big bull run. There is a saying that it can always be worse, but somehow I don't believe that this year can be worse than the last in economic terms.
3271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: my friend lost the password for his crytowallet. what he could do? on: January 15, 2023, 11:30:59 AM

walletrecoveryservices don't look to be scammers, but I have never used them as well.

There are several very similar services that have a similar name, but the one you are referring to has a good reputation so far and has its own thread on this forum. Of course, the service has its price, but if the OP and his friend can't find a solution on their own, this service might be their best option.

3272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paper wallet for BTC used to be the best on: January 15, 2023, 11:17:46 AM
One wonders what someone has been doing on the forum for more than a year and a half when they ask beginner's questions like this, which have been asked dozens of times along the way.

I guess we have established that some larger amounts should not be trusted to any hardware wallet or hot desktop/mobile wallet, and that a paper wallet has its own risks when it comes to creating the same, but also storing it. In addition to all the risks involved in creating and keeping such a wallet, many are not even aware of how to actually spend funds from their paper wallet in the correct way - and this can lead to the loss of BTC.

Namely, when they want to spend their BTC, users import their private keys into the newly created wallet, make a transaction and delete the wallet without even taking into account the fact that part of the unspent coins goes to a change address that they no longer have access to. A much safer way is to simply sweep private keys in wallet, which sends all BTC to the newly created address, for which you then have a backup in the form of a seed.

Try contacting this guy:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=407333
He told me I can email him when support cases come up on Bitcointalk, but I've never done that.

Unless he has an e-mail notification when he receives a PM, it is unlikely that he will be of any help to the OP, given that he has not been active since July 29, 2022. In any case, the OP is stuck with very bad technical support, but he has a very good reason to be persistent, of course not in the way he has been doing it so far.
3274  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: More platforms will bite the dust? on: January 14, 2023, 04:06:37 PM

So as always, get your coins in to your own wallets. Who in their right mind is still using centralized exchanges at this point!?

Apparently millions of those who live in the belief that CEX are crypto banks and that there is no reason not to trust them. Even when the famous CZ is included in the whole story with the claim that 99% of users will sooner or later lose everything if they use non-custodial wallets, I'm not at all surprised that almost nothing has changed after FTX.

After all, even some forum members who have access to information see nothing wrong in continuing to believe in various crypto messiahs who promise them that they will never let them down.
3275  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: January 14, 2023, 03:45:41 PM
Why there aren't any big protests in Moscow and Saint Petersburg right now?

Even if there was a democracy in Russia like there is in some other countries, I would not expect protests in big cities because they are quite far from everything that has been happening in the last 10 months. If several hundred coffins arrived in these cities every day, there might be protests, but the fact is that Putler sends people from rural areas of Russia to Ukraine, because they mean absolutely nothing to him.

In addition, the average Russian is already numb to the point that he is always with the government either out of fear or some kind of pathological loyalty.

Which propaganda should we trust more? Western or Putin's propaganda? Or maybe both are lying a lot, which was totally expected.

To begin with, ask yourself who is the victim and who is the aggressor, and then who lies more and for what reasons. If you think that Russia is liberating Ukraine from Nazism, and that everyone who is with Ukraine is a Nazi, then believe that propaganda. When I see that the supposed second world military power of the world is fighting for months to conquer a small town in Ukraine with the help of mercenaries, then everything is clear to me - the worst days for them are yet to come.

Even before the sanctions were imposed, relevant experts said that it would take several years for Russia to feel their effect. At a time when such a powerful country has to rely on North Korea and Iran to wage a war, isn't that more than enough proof of how weak they are - well, the other day Putler was mad at a minister because he failed to sign a single contract (if I'm not mistaken, it's about passenger and military planes).

I want to know what happen

In that case, your backup (seed) is exposed, and if by any chance you saved it in your e-mail, the cloud or as plain text on your computer, someone hacked you. Even if you have a backup in physical form, someone could find it and wait for the right moment to use it - and a few days before Christmas and the New Year seems like a suitable moment.
3277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Keep your emotions balanced especially regarding Bitcoin on: January 14, 2023, 02:58:16 PM
~snip~
Not financial advice, but lots of people freak out over the price of Bitcoin or anything for that matter but don't have real logical reasons.

You are quite wrong here, because most people who have invested in Bitcoin or are just planning to do so have no other reason than to earn as much money as possible. If we take into account that a large percentage comes from countries where the standard of living is quite low and that Bitcoin serves them as a kind of lifeboat, and that they do not even have basic knowledge about investing and the risks associated with it - then I I'm not surprised that they behave in exactly the way that seems illogical to you.

I don't know if it's just plain ignoring or a low IQ, but in the last few days at least twenty threads have been opened with the question "why is the price of BTC rising", and everyone who asks that question has not read a single article about the economy or maybe sometimes watched the most ordinary news on TV. I can understand that, but it is not clear to me that someone invests in Bitcoin and has no idea what is happening in the world around him - Bitcoin is not some isolated island but part of the world markets.
3278  Other / Off-topic / Re: Newbies, do not allow HYPE to take the best of you on: January 14, 2023, 12:13:40 PM
You are still giving the fake apps some sort of publicity by sharing the links for others to click.

I agree, every link that leads to something that is potentially dangerous should be placed using the "insert code" option, although in this particular case no links were needed. I personally have never even tried that AI because I really have no interest in it, but I understand that it is currently a hot topic for all those who think that they will be able to write posts on the forum that way and that no one will notice.
3279  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2023-01-12] Binance says it plans to expand hiring by as much as 30% in 2023... on: January 14, 2023, 11:55:56 AM
Another question is in what currency will Binance pay their new staff? If this is in BUSD, I would not be shocked if they have began issuing unbacked BUSD and fractionalized this more.

Isn't CZ one of the richest people when it comes to the cryptocurrency world with a fortune measured in billions of $? Besides, with all the income that CEX generates, why would it be a problem to pay new employees, especially if they come from countries where the average wages are very low?

I don't know what CZ has in mind, but somehow it doesn't seem to me that this is the right time for anyone to start playing with such things, unless they want to be the next big scandal in the crypto world. However, anyone who has any sense and understands what is happening should not believe in any stablecoin/token, because for me most of those coins are not backed by anything other than empty promises.
3280  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 50% Down Move Incoming? on: January 14, 2023, 11:38:11 AM
@doomloop, I didn't find the exact data for 2022, but in the years before the amount of money that was waiting for a favorable moment to be invested was usually between $4 and $5 trillion, and I don't have too much reason to suspect that it is not a similar or even larger amount in this moment. Positive signals from central banks and announcements about the slowdown and reduction of inflation were obviously the trigger to release some of that money and direct it to the market.

Now the only question is whether it is something that will only be temporary, or whether 2023 will be a year of great recovery for most markets. It seems to me that Bitcoin is just returning to the levels where it should be if there were no scandals caused by Kwon&Bankman and all those who supported them. The ones who are quite disappointed now are those who wanted to see Bitcoin below $15k and as close as possible to $10k, although they still think there is still time for that to happen.
