I apologise for asking what is probably a really stupid question - but when coins are burned, does this mean that I risk losing some (or all) of the coins that I own? I'm very late to this party obviously and have only just bought some on Cryptopia. Who or what decides which coins get burned?

The faster the price rise, the more people register for the airdrop, the faster the address #1 will run out of BTX.
The more we get a steady and healthy growth, the more registered addresses are own by early BTX adopters, the longer the time it will take to empty address #1, the more we all are going to be able to accumulate BTX!
I can not agree more than that. +1, I too agree 100% on that. Additionally, I would guess that the recent drop of the price may have been caused by BTC holders/whales who have dumped their BTX which they have got through the airdrop because they don't want concurrence. I would stop giving to these people tons of free coins to dump - only BTX holders should get the airdrop from now on, and be sure the price would soon moon. Yeah what would be cool is simply decide to give people 4 months to claim their BTX. If not claimed then airdrop all remaining coins to BTX supporters  YOU ARE THE MAN! I 100% VOTE TO THAT. Dev team, let's open a new bitcointalk tread on this idea. I see many different form this could take... All unclaimed BTX at the end of the current airdrop period get added to address #1. Or, we give a hard date like all BTC holder have until March 1, 2018 to claim their BTX, then the remaining are added to the address #1, or we do another special 25% airdrop. Let's face it, past 6 months from now who thinks BTC holders will still know they have access to a free 0.5BTX. ...and at $12k BTC who really bother to claim $10 worth of BTX in today's value. So, actually it's a good time to buy. Thank you for making things clear. I think at this point there is no need for FUD. Now I think the reason for the big price drop is/was a failing HitBTC not Bitcore self. Now is the best time to buy! I don't know what happened with the whole HitBTC thing, they're supposed to be one of the better exchanges. It seems like $BTX is being blackballed by everyone CMC, HitBTC and some of the hard core $BTC folks, they're not a fan of $BTX at all. we discovered a pile of bullshit with btx and stolen the bitcoin logo to scam and move your coins into BSD project= stupid bittrex rooked us ! :\ meh |

Is the fork negative or positive for the price? or is that hard to say.
It's positive. The fork will burn 55 million coins from future existence, meaning the total coins in circulation will go down to around 165 million as opposed to 216 million in circulation today. Therefore, less coins after the fork will (or should) increase the price almost instantly. Impossible to say by how much, so we will see. Right now it'll probably be a bumpy ride for the next weeks. I'd expect a lot of profit taking will happen, causing a few wild swings like the last few days. Thank you for your reply! i will hodl until the moon. I think the potential of Bitcore is big, but it looks like Bitcore is boycotted by CoinMarketCap.
I wish Bitcore could get the same attention as Bitcoin Cash.
Bitcore is better than Bitcoin Cash (specs) even Bitcoin.
The developers behind Bitcoin Cash are also 'only' people.
But Bitcoin Cash was already known before the hard fork and Bitcore not.
Maybe I am too concerned that the price won't recover (devs doing their job right, etc.).
But what if we think about Bitcore can be more expensive than Bitcoin Cash (right now) in a day in the future?
Maybe I (we) have to look less at the charts and just relax.
If this really is a good coin, the price should get above $40 again.
Important is: Are people going to use Bitcore more than now (and even more than Bitcoin Cash / Bitcoin Gold)?
