Don't care. Putting whatever money left I can spare on Liverpool v City. 4/1. This was better odds than Community Shield.

It does reflect the sad state of affairs with the Reds. But we're playing at home and Anfield will take us over the line.

I don't know what's worse at the moment, Liverpool's results or my predictions. They've both been incredibly dire. I started off the season okay, not terrible, but it has been all down hill from there. Liverpool play Manchester City next, so I think that's probably a easy prediction for most users. Not sure, if they just chance it, and see if Liverpool can get something out of the game, despite how big of a miracle that would be required. At least, that's what it feels like at the moment.

Also, Haaland has been absolutely insane. Even when he isn't playing great or had minimal touches he still manages to find the back of the net. I suspect players will adjust to his play style eventually, but at the moment he's having a field day.

I know which are worse. I started off season at bottom of pool and am more or less still there.

I looked up our Roy Hodgson season, and we were at 10 games only with 6 points, so... yeah, we are at our worst since Klopp took over, but at least we're actually doing alright in Champions League itself -- while playing well, well below what should be our average.

What hurts me most is that we were the hungry wolves, chasing down everything in packs, mowing down opponents, biting back and running harder than everyone else.

We're still doing that with about a third of the team but it's just not working out...

Man, you just know you're about to lose it when you are staring at a screen and considering putting good money on Lazio away to Fiorentina.

3/1 odds feels like a steal, though, so I did myself a favour and put a normal bet instead to soothe some frustrations.

Immobile can't do everything on his own, can't he?

Damn, Superbru reminder came in, reminding me there's an entire lot of picks to make, I shouldn't remind anyone else, but what's the point of losing when half the pool forgot to put their picks eh?

My betting prowess is limp so far, but I'm going to take 1 pick against Real Madrid (Shakhtar didn't lose too badly actually)w, and then another "chase my losses" bet on Liverpool -1.5. Not wise, I know.

Hope one day this kid's paintings I helped sell on this forum turn out to be just as successful Wink She didn't make THAT much, and she probably did it an entire cycle and then some after OP's artist, but hey, 2018 was a crypto winter and we're at least twice as much in price today. Already a great investment Wink

Really liked how she passed the gift on too. That's always how Bitcoin's going to win.

^  Aubameyang didn't start.  I should stop picking him.  He is Tuchel's boy at Dortmund after all.  He never got the chance to play under his new manager as Tuchel got the sack as Aubameyang was just getting into the club.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

@tokeweed you’re absolutely correct about Aubameyang, and I won’t be surprised if he seeks a transfer away in the upcoming transfer window or the summer window.

Yeah, sucks ass. I was already 3 picks in, so needed Auba to at least play but looks like he's moving on, and Chelsea seem to have found the answer to scoring already, too bad.

Anyway, another day, another round, we get a new chance after Villa completes the current Matchday.

Feels like a long time ago since I picked Salah and Mane and was seldom wrong...
3266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🦊 Betnomi.com | FPL Football Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: October 10, 2022, 09:22:58 AM
you mean changing formations? heh 😂
Yes, this. I thought we always had to go with the standard 4-4-2 so this means sticking with 3-5-2 by switching 1 defenders into midfielders should probably gives alot more points potentially isnt it as some defenders ended up not getting decent amount of points lately
I guess you missed it, it's been discussed a number of time here, especially with Buwaytress asking a couple of game weeks ago, you can play almost any playeable formation, aside from 3-6-1 which, you could go 3-5-2, 4-5-1, 5-4-1, 3-4-3, it solely depends where you want to prioritize your best players but a lot of people have opted for 3 at the back because of the inconsistenticies from the premium defenders, so that's why Tripier, James and Cancelo are like the defualt template.

Yeah, was pretty dumb of me to not even realise you could change formations, and I definitely think 3 at the back is best in almost any season -- there's almost no chance you get more than 3 premium teams playing some guy every game and having majestic clean sheets. I of course put TAA in regardless because he just creates too much to ignore.
3267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 10, 2022, 08:01:32 AM
I am not really a supporter of what Southgate is doing for national team but not calling TAA has been a good decision. James is miles in front when defending and just maybe a little weaker when attacking.

When your team is having problems with creativity is when you need to rework your formation and talent. That makes TAA and Maddison a painful exclusion (he sees their team's failures rather than their individual worth, this is what I don't get), which I didn't agree with. He already rebuilt the team to be strong defensively, that's great, now take some risks at least near the end of the game and try to score.

I totally agree it's about formation and style, but I wouldn't blame Klopp either for Trent's case, I blame myopic viewpoints. We won titles and cups, and played some of the best football in my memory, and Trent had a huge part in that -- it's just a different style, which works when your CBs are awesome, which England squad generally I would say has no issue.

I honestly cannot understand why TAA is getting all the bad press when he's improved in what he's been tasked to do, and generally maintained same defensive frailties he's always had. I guess because he's English and you don't get juice picking on VVD?

He needs to be made a winger or played as RWB in 5 man defense.

He's definitely been discussed to move into that or midfield yeah, given his creativity and accuracy with crossing. Everything about his training actually fits into that mould.

In any case, yeah, give him a rest, let Milner play there even... as long as we continue to get creativity from the middle, because without Trent, Thiago and Elliott will really need to provide better.

I always beat Buwaytress in the pool, and I'm just making sure Hhampuz and Smartvirus stay behind me. I'm coming for you, trofo.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not exactly the best guy to be benchmarking against haha. I know I should be paying a lot more attention to FPL, and I promised to do better with changing my team lineups but at least I'm paying it more attention than last season.

Progress every season, maybe by 2 future FPL pools I'll get in the hang of it?

But watch your backs, guys. I'm letting you all off easy and contributing to the prize pot. (Seriously why did I even participate haha).

Arsenal: Ramsdale, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Tomiyasu, Partey, Xhaka, Saka, Odegaard, Martinelli, Jesus.

LFC: Alisson, TAA, Matip, VVD, Tsimikas, Henderson, Thiago, Luis Diaz, Salah, Nunez, Jota.

Really pleased to see Matip in there, he's getting back to his best. Other than Robbo (and credit to Tsimikas I we don't miss him too much over there on left-back) I don't think I see anyone I wish were in there. Really pumped for this game, everyone's going to have to eat late as I'm only making dinner after this game's over.

Let's see plenty of goals, clean sheet for us, subs taking on some fun too, why not? Trent, Alisson, Bobby all had birthdays recently, 3 points sound like good presents, no?

That way I won't feel too bad rooting for Everton after heh heh.
3270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: EFL English Championship League 2022/2023 on: October 09, 2022, 02:35:27 PM
Ouch on both counts here... and a very strange one, as PNE scored 3 goals in this match after only managing 4 in the past TWELVE games... while letting in two after only conceding 4 before this.
Bad day for my main predictions, but it's all good, that makes me grounded so I don't think I am some kind of master predictor Smiley
This is why I love Championship league, you can always expect such a crazy results like Preston beating serious title contender Norwich at their stadium.
I didn't expect Sheffield to lose so easy, but I was right about Blackburn, shame I didn't bet on them.

Betting and predicting, it really grounds you, doesn't it? I started betting more frequently around 2016, as Klopp took over. Wasn't even doing it very seriously, but ended up with a really big amount of money from almost nothing, taking advantage of new bookie offers during Liverpool's Europa run.

Then crypto betting became more "serious" as I got interested in value betting, and then many seasons did so well, but since last season, I've been having trouble keeping consistent wins.

The old Sportsbet Multimaster and current pools do show that I know nothing. And that's from watching almost every game!

They do say the Premier League is outstanding for lack of predictability but really, it's the Championship that takes the cake. Do miss getting Derby matches with 5/1 odds though.

Couldn't even get a close score for the Milan win, and 2 draws after that killed most of us, the only thing I have to smile is I narrowly avoided putting Torino on my acca today... was 2/1 live but bet couldn't get placed and then they went behind.

Very tricky next set of games today too... can't believe am finally backing Monza haha. 22 mins in and only 1 (off target) shot from Spezia and plenty of fouls between them already. Ah, Italian football.

GL guys. Or bad luck, really Wink
3272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: October 09, 2022, 12:20:32 PM
Even if the competitors win their games today, they will be only 4 points ahead. And this is Freiburg and Union Berlin - few would believe that these teams are able to give a stable season without failures and with a better pace than Bayern. Borussia remains Bayern's biggest rival so far, but there's a tie on points here and there's no reason to worry about the opponent gaining an advantage.

Precisely. I know I'm enjoying Freiburg's form (and I got a little fella in there who's my absolute favourite as overperformer) but dropped points are inevitable as you can only last so long in terms of the energy you've got to put in just to stay above water.

BVB taking off points from Bayern was a blessing, and there won't be too many of that for the defending champs. Still, what a season it's turning out to be so far.

Well done to swogerino for the yellow cap (not sure if it's shared actually by CLS63 again heh as Superbru dashboard isn't actually showing me any caps). Those 5.5 bonus points, I should say, quite an achievement too! I got all of 9 points for failing to get any position bonus points (ouch).

Four more races to go, can't you top guys let up even a little? Wink

He's not really open minded though and has a lot of pride. It's just his own instincts that he only wants to buy Bitcoin.

Then appeal to his conservative mindset and tell him Binance and other exchanges are for those who don't believe the system is rigged and controlled.

My grandmother after the second world war absolutely distrusted banks, famously kept whatever money she had in her house. I know your dad must be from my generation, the same distrust.

A conservative would want to have his own wallet, his own sole control... and actual Bitcoin. He knows those numbers on that app's just numbers and not real Bitcoin right?

Don't forget specials today every 2 hours, active now: https://sportsbet.io/promotions/2022-09-north-london-derby

Obviously, my loyalties prevent me from taking most of those bets but these look good:

Quote
19 - 21 GMT
Over 1.5 Corners For Each Team In Each Half
21 - 23 GMT
Over 1.5 Total Goals, Over 8.5 Total Corners & Over 25 Booking Points

Also, noticed a new special for World Cup on the market now. Looks to me pretty much a done deal for 2.35: https://sportsbet.io/sports/event/sportsbet-specials/daily-specials/super-sports-special/fifa-world-cup-2022-multi-bet-6341b0c9dc24a55f15415aaf

Thanks for the reminder about the 4-3 free
City showing no mercy on Southampton and what do you know, Haaland scored his 15th goal in PL this season

And there's still some time left to put that in actually, for those laggards.

Might be saying it with a sour face but Haaland is probably the player most loved in the EPL right now, can't even dislike him as an opponent really, with the type of guy he is. He might as well even break Salah's record before the halfway mark's over. The age of the pure striker is back.

Eh, so Verstappen is king. Thought Ferrari would try and stretch this out a little longer, but after taking pole, he wasn't going to delay his celebrations was he?

Title parade is delayed another couple of hours, though, so there's still time for you guys to tune in if you want to revel/whine about it for a while haha.
3277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +85933 units on: October 09, 2022, 08:16:43 AM
Looks like I'm about to repeat last season's miserable performance by making too many bets. None hit yesterday and far from it too, so I should just keep this steady but... hear me out.

Liverpool are 2.85 to win versus Arsenal. I have never seen this high odds before against Arsenal and it's for 2 reasons:
- Arsenal have the better form
- Liverpool have conceded in every game but 2
- Arsenal are at home, so home money is piling on the current league leaders.

I have further explanations here.

So I think, let's put almost all the profit we have got on this game, if we lose, it's as if we start on a clean slate. If we win, we're back in business.

400 units at Sportsbet on Liverpool to WIN vs Arsenal @2.85. Other odds: 2.70. Bet ID: 6341669c35d4bf2b81d139ab
Units advantage: 60

Running advantage after 28 bets: +2589 (+60)
All-time cumulative: +86,203
Running units after 27 bets (4W|23L): +434 (-300)
3278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 09, 2022, 08:10:18 AM
Right, I made up my mind. Going big on Liverpool at almost 3/1. Harkorede's right, it's value. When was the last time a 90% full Liverpool squad were the slight underdogs against Arsenal?

Definitely thinking with my heart but hear me out.

Here's why I think it's amazing value:
- Thiago and Hendo are back in the team, alongside Fabinho. Not their sharpest or fittest as we could see in the last game, but they'll get there
- TAA had a problem with Martinelli, and the media thinks he is terrible. They're wrong. Yes, his mistakes have directly lead to 2 goals already this season, but his aggression up the pitch: chances created, stealing possessions, and even shots on goal are at his highest in any season so far.
- Interestingly, the team is in 10 games so far allowed the least opponent possession in our final third. This actually means that Klopp's high line, forward pressing is performing at its very best.
- The problem? In seasons past, we have Fabinho sweeping up whatever comes through, VVD closing off whatever trickles past, and Alisson the final line on 1v1. We haven't had a fully fit Fabinho yet, VVD is in the worst form of his career. That is the problem media is shifting on to TAA.

So between VVD, Fabinho, Salah, Jota, Thiago, Nunez -- there are at least 6 big game players yet to get into gear. Surely this match, if even 2 of them find a way to switch on, we benefit. VVD and Fabinho? We plug the leak. Jota/Thiago? We finally get good service in addition to Trent. Nunez/Salah? We smack in goals.

with all said, I am waiting for Sunday, 8:00 PM (is that a new time schedule for EPL?), maybe we can beat United, best defense in the league so far, just to stretch attack a bit

I've got a bit of money against United and I'll probably add a bit more to it if other earlier results go my way; that's big coming from a Liverpool supporter... unless you believe I'm a jinx heh heh.
3279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: October 08, 2022, 07:10:24 PM
Should be pleased with the way the day went, only annoyed Leicester took an early lead and then proceeded to gift the game. Frustrating team, that one, didn't watch match but Bournemouth probably couldn't believe their fortune playing a side that just won majestically.

BTTS for me here as well. I wouldn't worry about Liverpool not scoring, their attack works fine, defense is the problematic part. Just the way I like it when I play BTTS, I will go even further and probably play "both to score in both halves" if I find that market anywhere. Stake used to have them and you can build it yourself on Sportsbet. Should pay out about 9 for this game.

Wolves are best chance for Chelsea clean sheet IMHO. They are good at the back but they are total shit going forward and you can't change that in short period of time. Too make it even worse Pedro Neto is injured and will probably miss WC as well.

Only thing is 1.5 is the lowest BTTS I've seen in a long time, but yeah, both teams scoring (doesn't matter how I guess) responsible for that.

I recall hilarious talking about BTTS both halves a common option in Skybet, but yeah, don't ever recall myself seeing that kind of market unless you're into Betbuilder but the odds aren't valuable in BB I find -- as en example: BTTS both halves + Arsenal over 9.5 booking points = 5/1. Truly bad value... (sorry Sportsbet but Betbuilder really drags it down).

For the first time in many years, I'm actually dreading the game vs Arsenal.

I want these games usually, and the one vs City, because it's the perfect way to pick yourself up and cut the gap. But yeah, even if we win these 2 games, I'm actually more wary of the others.

That Community Shield performance seems so, so far away.
3280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC Vs. CFTC fight over crypto market regulation, What are your thoughts? on: October 08, 2022, 06:04:23 PM
..
the whole funny part is
the CFTC has had its fingers on ethereum during its PoW days but now its PoS suddenly CFTC doesnt care much and passed it onto SEC .. yet CFTC wants bitcoin now.
even though bitcoin is not as much of a commodity as ethereum.
the reasons is that under CFTC ethereum is no longer a environmental concern so any possible 'enforcements' the CFTC forwards to FATF would just from now on be market related, which the SEC can handle

I do recall that actually, and especially when it was satisfied with all parties that Ethereum (as well as Bitcoin) was not a security (which would have made SEC the lead regulator). I never did get wind that part of the reason CFTC passed Ethereum on was the PoW/PoS thing. They probably never left it quite alone though as 2 months ago now we've got this territorial dispute spilling over into all of crypto.

It definitely does matter, as you point out, if SEC's hold is weakened on Bitcoin, while CFTC's claws dig in.
