Make a reddit account and then send a private message to Mike-Poloniex, with details of your ticket and problem:

https://www.reddit.com/user/Mike-Poloniex/

He is a Poloniex employee and usually sorts things out if you complain directly to him.

Thanks for your advice, but is there any poloniex employee in bitcointalk forum?

I don't think there is.

How long is the bear market going to last? The saying goes "buy when others are fearful" but when is the right time to buy is the question. How long do the dumping phases last on average does anyone know?

The dumping phase can last a long time.

Here is a graph of Doge for example:

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogecoin/

Notice that they had a pump in January 2016 - and then the bear market for doge lasted a full year, and those who bought at the top had to wait till March 2017 for another pump before they could cash out.

Bear markets in cryptocurrency can be brutal.

Bter is a Chinese exchange, arn't they? I wonder if the PBOC has decided to look into them at the moment as well and check whether they have adequate AML and verification.

I think this now means that all Chinese exchanges are blocking cryptocurrency withdrawals.

P.S. I found the following article from them dated 10th Feb:

https://bter.com/article/12620

Quote
BTC and LTC Withdrawal Suspended for Anti-money laundering Compliance

In compliance with requirements  from regulators that Bitcoin exchange shall not violate laws and regulations related to anti-money laundering, foreign exchange management and payment settlement and other related financial laws and regulations,  BTER is going to formulate anti-money laundering standards for Bitcoin industry together with its peers in the industry based on the government laws and regulations and its experience in business operation and upgrade its anti-money laundering system  comprehensively to prevent and strike  crimes Bitcoin may be involved in  money laundering,  swap and pyramid scheme. I wouldn't personally buy bitcoin right now because I think we're due a correction. But on the other hand loads of new people are coming into crypto. see the following:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/did-one-of-the-internets-biggest-stars-just-signal-a-top-in-bitcoin-2017-05-25

Dan Bilzerian’s penchant for automatic weapons, high-stakes poker, fast women and faster cars has made him an unfiltered internet phenomenon.

Now you can add bitcoin to his list.

Bilzerian told his 22.3 million Instagram followers on Wednesday afternoon that he “just bought a sh*tload of bitcoin” and that “it’s so crazy watching that sh*t f**king go up it’s like... betting a bunch of money on the Super Bowl.”

I've no idea how influential he is, but even if a fraction of his followers decide to invest, that is additional buying pressure which could force the price up.
3286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins trading sites? on: May 26, 2017, 12:52:05 PM
It depends very much on what coins you are trading. For example there are coins on Bittrex that arn't on Polo, and vice versa. And a lot of shitcoins are listed on Yobit only.

Coinmarketcap lists the exchanges in order of volume:

https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/

Go down the list and pick the one that trades the coins you are interested in.
3287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to....Poloniex? on: May 26, 2017, 12:22:17 PM

There are actually no problems for people that have been using poloniex for a longer time. My withdrawels still clear in minutes and deposits are credited just fine. New users that require verification can be subject to some hiccups though.

Same here. I've had my account with them since 2014 and have not experienced any problems depositing or withdrawing.

What I could say to noobs is that you need to build a track record so that their algo recognises you as safe. Don't use VPNs. And don't withdraw large amounts. Withdraw small amounts (say $200 - $300) every day and withdraw to the same address. Once they recognise there isn't a problem (i.e. no one has shouted at them saying, "my coins are stolen"), the algo will then deem your withdrawals to be safe and they'll go through automatically.
3288  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Fidelity to allow clients to see digital currencies on website on: May 26, 2017, 12:12:24 PM
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-fidelity-bitcoin-idUSKBN18J20P

Fidelity Investments will allow its clients to see their holdings of bitcoin and other virtual currencies held on digital asset exchange Coinbase on the company's website, said Chief Executive Abigail Johnson on Tuesday.

The move will make the Boston-based asset manager one of a handful of large financial services firms to have integrated digital currencies into its website.

A Fidelity spokesman said the new initiative may be launched in the second or third quarter this year.

The company is testing the Coinbase holdings integration with its employees, Johnson said.

"I love this stuff – bitcoin, ethereum, blockchain technology – and what the future holds," Johnson said at a blockchain conference called Consensus in New York City.

...Fidelity has also been testing bitcoin internally by allowing it in its cafeteria, though fewer than 100 employees made purchases using the virtual currencies, Johnson added. The Fidelity chief executive noted that usability was slowing down adoption.
3289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Where to....Poloniex? on: May 26, 2017, 11:58:36 AM
Poloniex used to have such a good reputation, but it seems that nowadays the Polo trollbox is full of people complaining about the lack of service.

Now...Poloniex must  be making extraordinary amounts of money, so they could easily fix the problem....but they don't

So the problem must be that they don't care (unlikely)...or something else...what could it be?

About a month ago they had about 20,000 users on their site, and it's now about 45,000 (see the ticker at the botttom of their website).

I don't think they predicted they'd have double the amount of people online in a month, it's not what anyone would predict. So I think they've been caught by surprise and are scrambling to catch up.

Other exchanges are also suffering, Kraken frequently give connection errors, and bitstamp anounced they have been innundated with new people and it is going to take time for them to get through all the verification steps.
3290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Reason behind this dip? on: May 26, 2017, 10:51:44 AM
Exchanges manipulating the market with pump-dump was never something new on bitcoin scene, people should continue to hold and not panic sell, that what would kill the price in a matter of hours. We are doing great, we should continue to increase with stability If we want bitcoin to be mentioned in the news in the next few weeks, that should bring more attention and eventually more demand and even a higher price.

Exactly ! Look right now Coinbase. Coinbase is currently down for maintenance. And it's happen often, if not each time, there is a big change in the Bitcoin price. But wait, it's not the only one. Another exemple, Kraken. Kraken right now is so slow, I get the cloudfare page every 5 minutes. Bitcoin Exchanges Kraken, Poloniex To Be Scrutinized For Possible Insider Trading, Manipulation...DDOS or something else I have no idea, but for sure there is something dirty under this

I don't think the conspiracy theory that the exchanges are manipulating things holds.

How about, they've just had an unexpected increase in people signing up and logging on, which they didn't predict (because who on earth predicts a 100% increase in customers in a single month, which is what Poloniex has experienced?)
3291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is a correction happening? on: May 25, 2017, 08:15:51 PM
Corrections are healthy. It would be nice if BTC stayed at or around the current price for a few months, establishing a new support level. But we shall wait and see what happens - it might go as low as £1500 before it starts climbing again. $1500 of course being way above where we started in January...
3292  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Bubble Didn't Last Long, Time To Sell In Panic on: May 25, 2017, 08:00:40 PM
that's shit 'advice'.

if people can't take it they shouldn't be anywhere near bitcoin. no one can time this. work out an entrance and an exit and wait around until you can execute it. if you don't you'll wind up with a bunch less money than before.

Is it really shit advice? Selling at resistance and buying back at support has proved very profitable over the last three years. Just saying....
3293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will there be an epic dump? on: May 25, 2017, 07:17:26 PM
It's a possibility. According to the following article, we could either see a correction of 47%, or the price will jump to about $6000:

Bitcoin is close to hitting a price that could see a 47 percent correction, according to one analyst, following a huge rally for the cryptocurrency that has led it to record highs.

On Thursday, bitcoin hit an all-time high of $2752.07, according to CoinDesk data, marking a 175 percent rally year-to-date.bitcoin hit an all-time high of $2752.07, according to CoinDesk data, marking a 175 percent rally year-to-date.

Meanwhile, the number of long positions – those betting on bitcoin to rise – has risen 18.2 percent, while short positions – those thinking the cryptocurrency will fall – have declined 10 percent since the start of the week, showing that traders are getting more bullish on the cryptocurrency, according to data from Bitfinex.

One technical analyst, who looks at historical trading patterns to determine future price moves, told CNBC that the $2,800 could mark a level of resistance where the bitcoin pulls back

The article then goes into stuff about fibonacci waves.

Further to the post above, looks like the dump has started. If it pans out the way they predict, the bottom is about $1500. Be careful out there folks!
3294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We could be sitting at $10,000 if we solve the scaling situation with no drama on: May 25, 2017, 04:28:58 PM
I am pretty sure Bitcoin price gonna roar once Segwit is activated. Litcoin's movement as in image below says all about the impact of Segwit activation on price. It is not development but news and buzzes required for price movements.

But in the end major question arises, is it price all we need? No matter what you wrote in @OP (especially last line). SegWit is never the best alternative to solve scaling issue. Proposal is full of flaws. Therefore, I recommend to adopt best out of available and not blindly go for Segwit.

Once Litecoin activated segwit it started to drop as people took profits.

And despite activating segwit, no-one actually uses litecoin for anything. They still haven't managed to top the 20,000 transactions per day they back in 2014. See

https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-transactions.html

It's almost like segwit is completely pointless.

3296  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken offline on: May 25, 2017, 02:18:52 PM
All the major exchanges seem to be having issues right now.  Coinbase is crawling and Kraken gives me cloudflare errors and even when there aren't errors the site is not really functioning correctly and throwing errors.

I guess the flood of demand is really causing problems.

Yes. Bitstamp also reported that they've had a surge of new members and have a backlog to get through verification.

I think this took everyone by surprise.

I know the ransomware thing resulted in loads of mainstream news outlets doing "what is bitcoin" articles, but the number who seem to want to get into it are phenemenal.
3297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple is in major trouble on: May 25, 2017, 02:10:56 PM
This is why open sourcing all your code when you have unique technology is a bad idea. Someone will just take the code and implement their own solution. Better off treating your code as intellectual property.  All these open source coins are inherently worthless from the perspective of all their "unique features" because big corporations will just rip off their ideas.

And yet bitcoin's code is open source and has hundreds of alt clones, but still goes from strength to strength!
3298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Poloniex is the worst platform on: May 25, 2017, 11:42:02 AM
It is because too many people are using their platform, and the growth happened too suddenly and they can't cope.

There are other platforms people can use: ETH is traded on GDAX, Kraken, bittrex, BTC-E and loads of other places.

Spread your trading around people, that way you won't miss on moves just because one platform is jammed due to too many people logging in.
3299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Whales are starting cashing out... on: May 25, 2017, 10:55:05 AM
just look at the trends and charts for most alt coins; the bubble will pop soon, not the best moment to buy!
Best time to buy. Coins on the discount for long-term holding

Get with it, boyo

No way you can get most of them 40% cheaper next week this time, we're slowly getting to the prices that we had last week before the pump started

I guess BTC will be fine since everyone will cash in BTC

Agree. People are cashing out from alts, (and the btc they earn will get cashed out into fiat). The markets are looking extremely toppy and there is bound to be a pullback.
3300  Economy / Speculation / Re: happy or scared about the price? on: May 25, 2017, 10:30:35 AM
Yeah, obviously I'm excited about the stellar price rise but at the same time I fear this won't end well...
Altcoins are on red marks right now. I felt really bad because some of my altcoins were dumped really hard because of bitcoin price surge. Maybe it will go up once the bitcoin hype is neutralized. Bitcoin holders must be very happy right now. For only one month. Bitcoin gains very huge on price. We can't say when bitcoin will stop on pumping. So buy altcoin on small amount only.

The alts are more vulnerable to an almighty crash than bitcoin. (Apart from ether which seems to be developing real world uses).

I must admit, every day I rub my eyes at where bitcoin is now. How long can this last?
