One can buy an account that has cases of unreported plagiarism without knowing. In the future, when the plagiarism comes to light the person loses his/her account. Is there a plea for such case?
In my opinion, there should not be any sort of plea for such case, the user already went against the ethics guiding forum users from purchasing accounts, and once the account has been bought and ownership transferred, whatever offense or wrongdoing on the account is automatically transferred to the new user (the one who bought the account), that is exactly the same way good reputation is transferred when accounts are bought, and most times the new user uses it to scam people, that's why account sales are 'discouraged', cause you can't tell what the new owner would do with the account.

Having said that, if you buy an account, and it's discovered that the erstwhile user committed the offense of plagiarism, the account is definitely going to be banned, notwithstanding 'who' actually plagiarized, and if the user makes a case that the account was actually bought and he/she didn't commit the offense themselves, that still isn't a good reason to unban the account cause a user who buys an account is more often than not, not an asset to the forum, and the mods will see no reason to unban the account.
3282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's figure out which altcoins have good opportunities next year on: November 19, 2021, 05:17:06 PM
What are your thoughts about what other altcoins might grow in the future?
I'm afraid, there is really no way to be certain of the altcoin that will prolly do well next year and down the road in the future, there are quite a lot of altcoins, many of which do not even have a use case and are either a pump and dump coin, or just basically launched by scammers to take money away from investor. Then again, if you ask people for such an opinion, they always tend to choose the coin that they are holding, so they can somewhat hype it and cause an increase in it's price; having said that, what needs to be done is for individual investors to do their own research and come to the conclusion of the altcoin they think is good and if they have the funds, they should go on and invest.
3283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: why is it difficult to apply TA on altcoins with low marketcap on: November 19, 2021, 04:44:48 PM
Then I started thinking and wondering, why is it difficult to apply technical analysis to coins with low market caps. unlike bitcoin and other major altcoins whose movements are still predictable. Altcoins with low market caps are difficult and even impossible to predict. whether this is all related to manipulation or there are other reasons that make it difficult to predict.
The reason being that most altcoins are short term/pump and dump projects that can pump and dump spontaneously, most Investors do no research when they want to invest in some altcoins, they just buy when it's low and hope on luck for an appreciation in price so they can make profits. The reason why its movement is unpredictable, is the same reason why it is regarded as being very risky. Having said that, many of such altcoins can be manipulated quite easily, that's cause sometimes an individual could own more then 50% of the coin, and whenever such person dumps, that's the end of such project. But that is not the case with Bitcoin, it is a long term project with a very valid use case and a demand that will continue to grow, that is why if you're not making profits on the Bitcoin network the time you invested, you're advised to hodl, as more often than not, you'll make profits along the long run.
3284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: November 19, 2021, 03:29:58 PM
There is also a big match in group A this mid-week as City take on PSG, the first leg went in favor of the club from Paris, but I think in overall play, City were the better team, we expected PSG to be firing on all cylinders in that group, but they have been held to two draws by both Club Brugge and Lepzig, this are two games they were expected to win, this leaves them on 8 points after four games played, and if City beats them and Club Brugge wins Leipzig on Wednesday, then we will have a very interesting final matchday in group A.
3285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 19, 2021, 03:17:26 PM
The Peps have announced that Kevin De Bruyne has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus while in Belgium and that he will be quarantined for ten days. Manchester City's next 10 games will be against Everton, Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham respectively! The absence of Kevin De Bruyne is certain. Although that is bad news, Man City and Pep always have options. As far as I understand, City don't rely on individuals. City has performed better without him so far.
That's really bad news for Manchester City, even though Kevin De Bruyne hasn't really been on top/excellent form this season, he is still going to be missed by City, he is a very important player for Peps team and can produce a moment of magic that can change a game in City's favor, I wish him quick recovery and I hope we can see him play for City soon enough. Having said that, most of the midfield work will fall to Gundogan and Phil Foden in the absence of KDB, and they are both outstanding players, and they should have no problem ensuring KDB is not missed too much.
3286  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't buy your greed on: November 19, 2021, 06:27:13 AM
Just this morning a friend came to me asking me how he can invest in crypto.
This hasn't happened to just you alone, I think everyone who is a Bitcoin user has had this experience one time or the other with friends or relatives asking how they can get rich overnight through Bitcoin, it's actually a difficult question to answer cause the more you try to make them understand how the network works and that it isn't a get rich quick scheme, the more they get the same erroneous feeling that you prolly do not want to assist them to make money, and if you go on to tell them to invest and there's maybe a plunge/correction, then they point fingers at you and blame you. I think people need to understand quite a lot about the network before investing or even attempting to, the best way to avoid this sort of question is to make sure you do not make most of your acquaintances aware that you use Bitcoin.
3287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will MEME coin rule the world? on: November 19, 2021, 05:56:43 AM
Will King Mufasa Token influence change in the world with its proposition of saving the planet?
Do you actually believe it will do that, or you're just shilling/promoting it, but if you ask me, I'm afraid, this is just another coin without any use case and in the end will be completely useless, many other projects just like it have proposed one thing or the other that's similar in the past without actually fulfilling it or even having the intentions of bringing it to fruition. I wouldn't bank on memecoins to be successful in the long run, they could prolly have a good run in the short term, but I don't think the demand will be sufficient to sustain it for too long.
3288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High ETH withdraw Fees, how to Solve on: November 19, 2021, 05:29:18 AM
I use Binance,  Kucoin etc crypto exchange for Trading, Binance use very often and I use Kucoin very rarely. But my main problem is high eth withdraw fees from Exchange to Personal wallet (MyEtherwallet). Have any crypto exchange with low withdraw fees?
The complaint about eth withdrawal fees didn't start today, it has come up time and again, but there is as yet no solution to the problem, I actually believe that the reason why eth is yet to get the sort of adoption it actually should have at this time is cause of their high withdrawal fees, just like other users have said, there is no direct solution to the problem you have, though you can try other coins whenever you want to withdraw, and hope that in the future, eth network can prolly do something about their high withdrawal fees.
3289  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin's Recent Drop Below $60K Is Not Worrisome, Analyst Says on: November 18, 2021, 08:59:31 PM
No worrisome for long-term investors even if the price drops below 50K. If you can be a long-term investor and you believe to see bitcoin price even above 500K, no worries if the price drops from 69K to 50K. Otherwise, even a one percent price fall can make you worry.
There are quite a lot of "get rich quick" investors these days, and most, if not all of them hardly believe in the network, they just want to get in, make good ROI, and then walk out. More often than not, this are the kind of investors that worry a lot, especially when there is an inconsequential drop in price/plunge, I sometimes do not blame this type of investors cause they do not understand the network and how sustainable it is for the long term. Having said that, investors with adequate knowledge of the Bitcoin network would take most drop in price as only just a correction phase, and they even go as far as seeing it as an opportunity to accumulate more coins.
3290  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and non-formal workers on: November 18, 2021, 08:17:56 PM
One fact about these people is that 90% (maybe more) of the people I know who support this industry are not formal workers who usually work as government employees, but they are non-formal workers working part time in some real businesses. There are only 2-3 out of 20 people (not the actual number) who are formal workers as government employees who are currently still trading crypto at my place to this day while the others are non-formal workers. What about those you know in your country, does this happen in your country and the people you know? I don't think there are any restriction governing formal workers involved in this industry as investors or traders.
If you don't mind, I'd like to know how you came about such numbers/statistics that people who are not civil servants are more in the network than those who are. Are you coming to such conclusions from the few people you've met and interacted with or is there any other source of the info. AFAIK and have experienced, the network 'harbors' people from all walks of life, without any clear disparity in the number from a particular field. If the above is true where you're from, then it could possibly be cause civil servants work so hard over there and have little time for other sources of income, you know people who run their business are their own bosses and so they can set 'time' in their own favor so as to get other things done, that looks like the only reason that could make your assertion somewhat valid.

Then again, no country would solely restrict only civil servants from using crypto, they would either place a general sanction/ban, or they will not, so it's either civil servants in your country of residence work so much that they hardly have time, or the civil servants you've personally come in contact with have no interest in Bitcoin.
3291  Economy / Economics / Re: Possible market crash in the near future? on: November 18, 2021, 07:48:48 PM
There are (as of  now) 14029 cryptocurrencies listed in coinmarketcap.com.
A case has been made (repeatedly) for  the existence of a bubble in the cryptocurrency market.
Yeah, I understand cryptocurrencies are volatile, high risk investments. But, are you guys expecting a market crash anytime soon?
I don't really know for Altcoins, if the number given above is correct, then they (altcoins) make up '14028' of the crypto listed on CMC, that means they are so much, and quite a lot of them do not have use cases, some are pump and dump coins and others are basically just controlled by scammers, thus many of them would crash, dump and disappear, the thing is just that, it's somewhat impossible to understand what will happen with altcoins.

Having said that, Bitcoin is so unique, and it's adoption has gone a step further since the pandemic 'shed its milk teeth', I sincerely doubt Bitcoin will experience another massive plunge/crash in price, there would definitely be correction periods, but a massive crash may not be on the cards for Bitcoin anymore, the network has prolly outgrown that.
3292  Economy / Economics / Re: How is financial stability defined for you? on: November 18, 2021, 07:27:50 PM
For me, financial stability is being stable with your finances and you can easily cater to all your wants and needs without worrying the bills because you have that steady income from your different investments or resources that keeps on generating an income.
I second that, and I feel it's very important for individuals to try as much as possible to have more than one investment and skill, people who are rich hardly have one source of income/wealth, if you want to strive to be financially stable/dependent, then a lot of responsibility fall on your shoulder, you need to study about diverse investment opportunities and harness a few of them you believe in, but that must be after you've done your research, and you must ensure that they are viable and you're not investing more than you can afford to lose. Learning a different skill from the one you have is also another way to earn extra income and by extension, financial stability, if you have more than one skill, then you can offer more than one service, thus expanding your horizon, the thing remains that, to attain financial stability one has to put in sufficient work/effort/dedication.
3293  Economy / Economics / Re: Introducing a state-issued cryptocurrency on: November 18, 2021, 05:31:13 PM
I think its a good decision by government.. What you guys think about it?
I think it's a terrible decision by the way, especially on the part of the citizens, for the government who like to control everything in their way, then this could be good, it is to their advantage if they stop people from being their own bank, take away the control Bitcoin gives people, and somewhat compel them to use crypto that they the government controls, prints and distributes as they like, just the same way they handle their fiat currencies, that way the government remains in control, which is exactly what they want.

But having said that, for citizens who actually appreciate the benefits of being their own bank, then this is indeed a wrong decision from the government, people should be allowed the liberty to have their finance in their own hands, the government can make do with the control they already have via their fiat currencies, and allow people to use decentralized crypto the way they like, and mind you that CBDC's are nothing but just digital fiat currencies, and it'll be no different.
3294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Runaway beginner on: November 17, 2021, 11:45:33 PM
and this was as a result of the fact that the person that told me about this forum never gave me a clear clue or a mentorship hand about the processes. So with time I was so discouraged about the whole thing cause like they say you can't obviously have knowledge of what you don't understand, so overnight I just lost interest and ran_off, like for months I never logged in into the forum cause I felt a waste of my time and data.
The thing is, you do not automatically have to fall under the tutorship of the individual who introduced you to the forum, everything you need on the forum is at your disposal and you can effortlessly get them yourself, mind you that you're obviously free to ask as many questions as you wish, you're also free to use the search button to look for topics that could fall under your area of interest, it's basically up to you in your desire to learn, interact/discuss with other users about Bitcoin and other related issues (cause that's exactly what the forum is for) to do your own research and build up your understanding of Bitcoin. But having said that, the most important thing you need still remains knowledge, you do not need any personal tutor, cause most times they could even turn out to be scammers, members of the forum can be mentors/tutors to you, but not on a personal term, just work on your knowledge of Bitcoin, so as to be able to communicate with other forum users, it's not so difficult, as long as you're willing to learn.
3295  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- Group Stage! on: November 17, 2021, 11:09:32 PM
There is less than one week left for the Barcelona - Benfica match. Barcelona have made an important change lately. They have brought Xavi to the team as their manager. We will see if they did the right thing or not in the future. But if Barcelona succeed in defeating Espanyol in the La Liga first, I see that they have a big chance against Benfica too. And I hope that they get better soon.
I actually also hope Barcelona starts playing like the team we all knew in the past, but I'm afraid, they may not be able to do so just yet, even with the signing of Xavi as new head coach of the team, Xavi will prolly bring something to the team, maybe a new tactics and pattern of play, but the fact remains that Barcelona needs new players of very good quality before they can return to their former position both in the Spanish league and in the CL.

Having said that, Barcelona have a must win game against Benefica, a game that ordinarily you'll expect them to win in the past, but due to their poor form of late, it's very possible they can lose this reverse fixture, just as they did the first (3-0), though in my opinion, I believe Barcelona would find victories in any way possible in their remaining two games, they have never been accustomed to playing in the Europa league and they would obviously want to maintain that impeccable standard.
3296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to spend smerits? on: November 14, 2021, 09:47:47 AM
<....>
Just as it has been said a couple of times in the past, the whole issue about sending Smerits is basically subjective, it depends a lot on the sender and their perception of things, especially what they perceive to be quality or not. Another thing is that, sending Smerits also depends a whole lot on how frequent you receive merits, or if you're a merit source that gets refilled every 30 days or so. For example if you take a good look at the thread on 'generous merit givers', you will find out that a lot of users on the list are MS, that's cause they really do not have to depend on their earned merits, that thus generates Smerits, cause the forum gives them an extra amount of smerits every 30 days to distribute to good posts, thus they will most likely be more generous and liberal when meriting posts than the user who isn't a MS and is trying to save their smerits for the best posts possible.

Having said that, personally I do not set any high standards when I want to merit posts, if I read a post and I'm actually convinced that the writer actually makes a whole lot of sense, then I can give out a few Smerits if I have any. There is no rule to guide you on how to spend smerits and do not overthink it, as long as you're not doing anything shady with smerits, then no one really cares how to distribute them.
3297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: November 14, 2021, 09:27:35 AM
Real Madrid have confirmed that three of their players, Gareth Bale, Isco and Marcelo will leave the club this season and it is possible that the January transfer window will see these three players looking for new clubs. Isco should be able to get a position in midfield but rarely gets playing time so he has to find an alternative club that can provide a regular position for him in midfield, so far there are no rumors which club will be his next port.
It's really about time they left the club, I'm actually surprised how this players comfortably sit on the bench for so long without forcing an exit out of the team, mind you that they are not that old as well, Marcelo is 33, Bale 32, and Isco is just 29, they still have something left in their tank to offer, and it's basically already clear they can't do that in Madrid, so why not move on.

Having said that, they have been out of the game for quite a while, so many teams will be reluctant about acquiring their signature, Isco is a really talented player, and tbh, I do not know exactly were things went wrong for him, maybe a move to the EPL could be good for Isco, but the fact remains that neither of this players can actually make it into a big team anymore, they'll have to make do with average/below average clubs.
3298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2021/2022 on: November 14, 2021, 08:42:11 AM
@blue Snow I became a Manchester Unite fan back in the day when Ronaldo started playing for Manchester United, and while I’m upset I don’t blame the player’s I blame Ole and the board.
I do not quite agree with you, there is absolutely no way I can exempt the players of any blame in United's current predicament, those players should be proud to be wearing United's colors and that should motivate them to give their best anytime they are selected, but that's not the case, in most games, they play like they do not even care about the result, the club and even the fans, I know the coach and the board are also guilty here, but same as the players, they have to justify the huge paychecks they receive every week, and at least, put a smile on the faces of their fans.
Also it’s not too late even if they do not sack Ole, then all he just needs to is drop McFred, play Van De Beek, play Sancho as a winger, replace Biswaka with Dalot and Shaw with Telles, and by doing this the chances of Manchester United winning will be increased.
Many of this players you mentioned have been given their chance, even if they have not played too many games, but the little time they were called up to play, they didn't do too well, I've watched Sancho play a couple of games, and I don't rate him as a very good player, Shaw and wan-Bisaka are playing well, thus I don't think the manager can think of replacing them, I'm in support of Fred being benched, I think he is just too bad to be playing for United, and maybe Van De Beek actually deserves a chance, but overall, the fact remains that the entire players need to improve.
3299  Economy / Economics / Re: Mindset game for the skilled and unskilled. on: November 13, 2021, 09:45:00 PM
In simpler language, Is it possible that people who always want to learn this and that skill to be able to survive never really become so wealthy in life compared to those who just want to be able to have money to be able to patronise the services of people who offer them?
I don't really think so, simply cause if we take inherited wealth out of the question, the wealthy people you're talking about who patronize other skilled individuals are also very much skilled in their own field, mind you that they are even more skilled than the average individual with just a 'basic' skill, Influential/rich individuals who own chains of businesses are very skilled in their area of specialization, people tend to feel that rich individuals aren't skilled or that they got to their present position out of luck or just favor, but that believe is erroneous, they actually work harder than the average Joe and acquire more skills than you can actually tell.

Having said that, what separates both sets of individuals is the skills acquired, there are skills that are more profitable than the other, thus people who are very rich tend to acquire the most sought out skills and take steps miles ahead of others and later on employ/hire others who acquired other skills they didn't for some specific service. People who acquire the right/profitable skills in the long run usually get rich from it.
3300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: are crypto owners naturally paranoid? on: November 13, 2021, 08:48:52 PM
It seems to me that it would be safer (and more convenient) to keep your crypto on an exchange (coinbase, blockfi etc) than cold wallet. Wouldn't the odds be greater that you mess up your cold storage than a large exchange being hacked or whatever (even if they are hacked, that wouldn't necessarily mean you would lose any coins, whereas if you are hacked that's a different story). I ordered a ledger nano X but it seems that the exchanges are still the way to go based on probabilities. What are your thoughts?
My thoughts about your opinion is that you're wrong, you obviously need to do more research into these things to understand things much better, in a network were you're not meant to trust anyone, it's definitely much better to trust yourself with your funds than anyone else, including exchanges. Remember the rule of thumb that states that if it's not your keys, then it's obviously not your coins, you can't keep your funds in an exchange and obviously not have the private keys and yet feel safe, except what's in the exchange wallet is a very small amount of money.

Having said that, what you should do is learn the security protocols in the network, exactly how to keep your coins safe which is pretty easy, I've been holding my coins for years now and I have not lost anything, if exchanges gets hacked and you're affected, you're going to lose your funds, you can also 'lose' your private info to the black market, which can also be dangerous.
