3281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What catastrophic event do you think would cause Bitcoin to drop? on: May 18, 2017, 10:06:26 AM
Theoretically speaking of course...for example, the appointing of a new president, a massive war, something in the economic and financial technology sector etc.

51% attack maybe? if they fork for bu and attack the other network which is the network that any exchange will run as the main Bitcoin, it can do some damage and make the value decrease a lot, i'm not sure how investors would feel or do about this, some of them maybe will buy again cheap coin thinking about abother possible increase? investors are greedy it's very hard to get rid of them lol
3282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How many cryptocurrencies are there and what are they called? on: May 18, 2017, 10:04:49 AM
Why is there altcoins and cryptocurrencies? Am I correct in saying that the only thing that seperates the difference between a cryptocurrency and an altcoin is that everything that isn't bitcoin is an altcoin? Make sense...

there are probably 10k altcoin out there, if we count everything included those many that die quickly in one day, even in 2014 there were already 2k+, it's a good estimate to think that now there are more than 10000, and yes it's correct everything after bitcoin is an altcoin, every altcoin is a fork from bitcoin, but some have other bases, like ETH
3283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best Altcoin to invest in? on: May 18, 2017, 10:03:09 AM
What's the best Altcoin to invest in?

Lbry, zcash ETH spreadcoin for the swap with HLM, pivx is good but i don't like pure pos coin, if they have no pow i just look at something else, any other coins is still godo if you know what you are doing and can catch the pump correctly, but if i was you i woudl invest 10% max in various altcoin on these risky one
3284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Since when Bittrex asks for name, address... for crypto to crypto trading? on: May 17, 2017, 05:23:05 PM
Im getting sick of Poloniex's lags so I searched for an alternative and the only alternative is Bittrex because the rest of exchanges no volume.

Turns out Bittrex is asking for all of that data and checks it on a public record:

Quote
How do you verify accounts?

Basic accounts require users to submit their name, address, and birth date to us.  We verify it through public records.  If we can verify you through public records, we will accept your application for a basic account.  If public records do not match you can also enter a mobile phone number and receive a text to become Basic verified.  If that fails as well you will need to proceed to an enhanced verification.

https://bittrex.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/215282838

I have been using a fake name on Poloniex for ages and they don't care. But in Bittrex it looks like they actually verify it with public records so I don't want to risk getting my funds frozen if they find out I use a fake name and a VPN.

Fuck this. Looks like im stuck with Poloniex.

are you sure, i have legacy account type and it's not required any name or address, i didn't even put any name lol or anything just my username, but my limit to withdrawal is only 1 btc, i checked and my account type is not recognized, it's because i created this account long time ago maybe
3285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why i prefer POW over POS on: May 17, 2017, 05:18:46 PM
Sorry I had to post again, I wanted to give out some figures to the people who were having a huge cry about being locked out of mining when ASICs came out. And I will give some figures into staking. The base amount here is 10K USD. Assume you invest 10K into each of these, the figures will be relative to that avenue.

BTC mining:

4 Antminer S9 ASICs at 13.5 Thash each.

Cost: Less than $9116
Hash: 13.5 Thash total 54Thash
Earnings as of todays stats: $41.65/day gross.

XMR Mining:

5x 6 GPU Rigs total 30 GPU total $9000
Hash: 25550 total hash (850/card)
Earnings: $55USD daily gross.

EXP:

5x 6 GPU Rigs total 30 GPU total $9000
Hash: low intensity 27.6Mhash per card total 828Mhash
Earnings: $78USD Daily gross.

Above is what we call, incentive for supporting a network, and a low cost entry gate with sufficient risk/reward ratio, and a solid chance at ROI.

PIVX Staking:

9345 actively Staking
Earnings: 4.41PIVX every 37 hours

CROWN Staking:
Masternode cost: $7626 or 10,000CRW (calculator not working here)
Earnings: 4.50CRW every 15 hours

In which scenario above would you see adequate NEW ADOPTERS come in to secure a network through-out the coins life? Personally I lean towards the one that offers the actual incentive for my efforts, into a coin with intrinsic value backing it, with adequate liquidity provided for new buyers to buy, trade and use it. You cannot deny those figures. You cannot deny the logic. Risk, Reward and Incentive. 3 very important driving forces in todays world.

mate this is wrong, these same gpu cost way less and earn much more, you did the math in the wrong way, let's do it again, 4 antminer consume also more than 5 rig, 4 antminer consume 5600watt/h, 6 rig consume only 4800watt/h, 30 gpu would cost $7k if not less and with dual mining they can be $3 per gpu a day which is $90 with 30 gpu
3286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My altcoin " No block source available on: May 17, 2017, 05:12:17 PM
I downloaded BITCOIN-qt, but I do not know how to sync my coin with my computer. It appears as an attached image.

you downloaded BITICOIN, not bitcoin, check again what you are downloading, they are different coin, bitcoin is the first legit one, the one you have is an altcoin, which si 100% dead because i never heard of that thing, prolly a clone of bitoin with sha256 algo but i'm not 100% sure
3287  Economy / Gambling / Re: ► Bitcoin Lottery ◄ ► Provably fair | Anonymous | Multi-currency ◄ on: May 17, 2017, 05:09:34 PM
how can we trust your system, what are the chance that you run away if a big deposit are sent? maybe it's the reason why none is playing? the fee are very good to be true, other than the 0.003% fee you don't charge any other hidden fee it's correct?
3288  Economy / Gambling / Re: NitrogenSports.eu (Cheating issue) **Ongoing** on: May 17, 2017, 05:06:58 PM
I think it is hard for a normal user to determine which account are cheating in freerolls but sometimes i get in a table where everyone is afk my hunch is that the reason they are afk is they have another account that is enrolled in that tournament and if that account lose then they switch to another account until all accounts that they have are used. Those cheaters are able to bypass cloudfare and i hope that the admin will be able to fix that.

what about implementing a anti cheat system like they do in gaming? would not be hard to implement it in the website with an algorithm or use the one already available in gaming they are based on the same mechanism right?
3289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Counterfeit? on: May 17, 2017, 05:05:29 PM
i don't think that is the case because altcoin have their own value, and not the one from bitcoin, for me they ar enot counterfeit bitcoin and it doesn't make much sense don't you think? altcoin are only a good alternative to bitcoin, the very good example that give you an idea about altcoin, is comparing them with fiat money, bitcoin is the dollar, litecoin is the euro, and all the other altcoin are all the other currency
3290  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] Crypto Currency Adoption on: May 17, 2017, 10:52:20 AM
i think both will achieve adoption, but only if bitcoin first achieve adoption, altcoin always follow bitcoin, if bitcoin become big in the world many other good alt will become big as well, but not any alt out there, many are 100% scam and will die without leaving any trace, the top 10 should do good in 2-5 years from now, prolly some country will aodpt it as a currency some poor country might do this
3291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is OneCoin really a scam? on: May 17, 2017, 10:50:46 AM
Is OneCoin really a scam?

there are many "ONECOIN" if you eman this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1801129.0, this is not a scam was a good coin early, but the dev run away and abandoned the coin, now it's worthless or very low vlaue, or maybe you mean this which is very old and died also https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200177.0
3292  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP implied market cap is now larger than BTC's ! on: May 17, 2017, 10:47:18 AM
As of May 17 2017

1 BTC is worth $ 1790, maximum 21 millions coins. Implied market cap = $ 37.59 billions
1 XRP is worth $ 0.41, maximum 100 billion coins. Implied market cap = $ 41 billions

Do you believe that this is justified ?

To me, it shows that XRP is completely overvalued.

where you see this? if i look in conmarketcap i see 30 billions for bitcoin and 15 billions for ripple, there is no competition, bitcoin is far ahead by 2x, perhaps coinmarketcap is missing a portion of the total supply?

If XRP released that 66% of coins into circulation it would reduce the scarcity of the current coins to a third of what it is now. The value of an XRP token would plummet until the market cap gets close to what it was before the release.

they did already this in the past but the value increased, they are artificially manipulating the value, i don't trust ripple
3293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: DGB (Digibyte) is finally shinning on: May 17, 2017, 10:45:33 AM
1000sat?are you crazy?
and the price of POSW is too high now.

it's possible if the dev team can deliver what promised about minecraft, digibyte also have segwit which help the value to increase, now let's compare the supply with burst, which increased to 1000 satoshi, they have somehow the same amount of supply around 2 billions right? this make me believe that it's possible for this coin to reach 1000 satoshi maybe not a stable price but peak price yes
3294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pivx Halving on: May 17, 2017, 10:43:27 AM
Hi,

Does some of you know something about the PIVX halving(when it's happening) ?
It should increase it's value right ?

there is no point in waiting for the halving with a pure POS coin, the pow ended long time ago, there is no more halving, the price won't increase more than that, i think the value is very high at the moment, and now the investors are taking their profit, i would dump and wait to see what will be the bottom just my two cent
3295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum better than Bitcoin? Why or why not? on: May 16, 2017, 04:28:39 PM
Is Ethereum better than Bitcoin? Why or why not?

no it's not better than bitcoin it's only a good alternative if you want to use another currency or investment choose ethereum, it's very safe, if bitcoin one day go down you have ETH, it's good for this reason to have a sort of backup altcoin, but i don't like ETH too much too much centralization with vitalik dictating everything
3296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why would anyone use a payment network based on an imaginary currency? on: May 16, 2017, 04:27:05 PM
I know cryptocurrencies are a real thing but can this really be implemented into our lives?

Imaginary in what sense? They are backed up with a network of computers all having access to all the transactions.

If anything is imaginary, it's the value of regular paper money. It's basically people in power telling you it's worth X amount and you don't even know how much of it exists while cryptos are generally transparent and decentralized.

i think he mean something like this, pretty simple, i imagines to have x amount of coin and i give you this x amount for your y amount of coin, you then give me that y amount for x amount and we do a trade, we write this on paper of course, and we give them a value, other people do the same and we create an immaginary netowrk for our immaginary altcoin, but this can't work because someone could simply imagines to have an amount that does not belong to him, it's too damn easy to cheat and change the rule
3297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stellar distributing up to 16 billion lumens to bitcoin holders on: May 16, 2017, 04:24:35 PM
I'm confused on this topic, the price increasing even though they're distirbuting more lumens. How does this happen guys?

the distribution did not happen yet, it will take place on july 27 read above, the distribution cna only happen if you connect many bitcoin to your stellar address, but you will give up your privacy, for example for every 10 bitcoin linked to your stellar address you get 10k stellar, not many people have so many bitcoin to get enough stellar
3298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reputable altcoin wallets on: May 16, 2017, 04:22:11 PM
coinomi is a good multiwalelt for mobile only it seems, i remember another one that i posted not long time ago, but i can't find it at the moment sorry, anyway if you check with google you can find other secure multiwallet that have many altcoin supported
3299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used in space? on: May 16, 2017, 04:18:04 PM
While there can access the internet, I think it can. Well, bitcoin connected with internet connection, so when he connect to the internet, even though he is in space, I am sure he can still mine, or find if he wants it

it's possible to have access to internet with another planet, very easy to do just use satellite communication, do it via google satellite, if you can establish a connection indeed you can run bitcoin, no matter where you are, i think bitcoin can see i great use for this distant future in space
3300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dead / Dying Coins you want revived on: May 16, 2017, 10:46:26 AM
there are a bunch of coins that i want to revive, one is hypercoin, but i would add pow phase this time and leave the experience you cna have with game like csgo and other as a side way to earn this coin, another one is minerals, because i like the concept of limiting the node to avoid big farm raping the hashrate
