  • Comprehend house edge thru coin toss

Quote
Imagine you bet on a coin flip, at less than even odds. No matter your choice of heads or tails, you are going to lose money, in the long run. You are betting on a 50-50 chance but only get paid less than double your money on each coin flip! Depending on how much less you are getting paid, your bankroll will withstand a certain amount of bets.
So, if I’m offering you 1.90 (decimal odds) for each coin flip, your money will end up in my pockets after 200-300 coin flips. That’s how you have been feeding the gambling industry. And that’s what the house edge is all about.
~

I would argue with this, to be honest. From what I know, for the house edge to work properly, you need many millions of bets to be made. In fact, this is the second reason why casinos want a lot of players... The first and main reason is the more players on your platform, the higher your profit, yes, of course that's true. But the second reason why you need a lot of players is to protect yourself from a statistical deviation of such a degree that your funds are emptied. The more players you have, the less the probability of such a deviation.
3283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't sell your precious BTC to the whales! on: June 14, 2022, 09:02:25 AM
We've been here before, you are just making the whales richer, selling your precious BTC for pennies (crappy fiat). The storm will pass, hodl, or try to accumulate even more BTC, it's a great time to buy for cheap. We will make it this time too. Even if BTC goes down to $15,000 nothing is forever. Remember $20,000 down to $3,000? Been through that storm too. Remember, 1 BTC = 1 BTC. To the Moon!

Although I know all this, it's nice to read this particular text and many others in this thread. I myself wasn't that smart in times when BTC went from $20k to $3k. I thought it could go to $200-$300 or something, and I cashed out a lot at $3k+. I mean, I needed the money, it wasn't like cashing out and then keeping a pile of USD in the closet, no, I really needed the money back then, but, idk, maybe I'd better borrow the money and paid back when BTC was $60+?

I think they will try to convince Zelensky of the need to resume peace talks. Let's see.
Convince Zelensky to resume peace talks? If they really will try to do that, they will come to wrong man. As already said many times, Ukraine are ready for peace talks, but Russia don't show any intentions to negotiate.

The civilized world should be ignoring Russians, including the drooling mental patients on this forum.

I don't think Ukraine should be negotiating with terrorists.

Peter the Great, my ass. More like Peter the Gopnik.

Yeah, comparing yourself to Peter the Great, especially with that self-congratulatory smile, it says something about you, doesn't it? I mean, it's OK for a patient of mental institution, but when such a person is in charge of the whole country, a big country with a lot of weapons, nukes included, it constitutes a threat to the whole world.

Does anyone dream to win an amount as big as this??  Shocked Shocked Shocked  A 5000x multiplier from a bet of €48.70.  This one is a life changer winning €243,500.07.  What a lucky guy!

It is a life changer winning for most of us but it might be just a normal winning for the player.
Betting $50 per spins in slot games means that the player is someone who have decent amount of starting bankroll.
We do not know how many thousands spins he needs before he hit that max multiplier in Starlight Princess.
What we can hope is that this winning is still profitable for him, as it is also impossible that the winning is still less than what he has lost before.

I agree with this. I mean, some people above write that the guy could have lost more than €243k previously, but c'mon, what is the probability of that? Basically, it was like winning a lottery jackpot. Should we also contemplate on whether a lottery jackpot winner spent more than he won on lottery tickets previously? I think it's never the case. Jackpot is always a much higher amount than one could spend on gambling, so, just, congrats to the winner, that's all. Smiley

That's correct!

Monthly bonuses have been sent out in the last hour to all eligible players.

I've got mine. Thanks! Smiley
3286  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How long Putin can continue this nonsense war?! on: June 13, 2022, 11:03:12 AM

The world is trying to stop the bloody unjustified war started by Putin in Ukraine. Putin needs this war to prevent the overthrowing of his corrupted government. And you shouldn't be Albert Einstein to know that your approval rating will rise during the war.

I hope it's stopped now because even though we were miles and miles away from ground zero, we are still suffering and feeling the effect of the current war on our economy and the essential needs prices are rising because of the current oil price hike. This is not for the sake of Ukrainian anymore but also for the other country that was already suffering and with this war going on, they even suffer more right now because the economy is failing and it is hard to get up when things like this continue to happen in the future.

Stopping the Russian aggression was never for the sake of Ukraine only. Putin, this unethical moron, thinks he is like Peter the Great(he really said that in a recent interview, crazy, huh?). Now he basically admits that this war is about expansion. Do you think he would stop after invading Ukraine? Hardly.

It's in the interests of the whole civilized world to stop this crazy builder of the new Russian empire as soon as possible.

I rarely get the same experience as you, although I do not play gambling as often as others. The games you played made me lose some money a few months ago.

I'm not winning all the time too. Smiley The key is to not lose more than you can afford to lose in one session, meaning, to stop when you are slightly above the affordable negative profit, and, well rested, return to your usual business. From my experience, even if you lose 5-6 EURO in a casino this way you are going to recover the amount easily doing your regular job. Just don't try to recover the losses through gambling, that's my advice.  Wink

also, maybe not hire an ethical hacker, but run bug bounty from time to time, at least test the potential vulnerabilities of the site. the security team should not stop exploring their security options because these hackers won't stop up until they find a weakness of the site.

This is almost the same as hiring an ethical hacker, isn't it? But I personally still on the side of hiring a professional to test your site because bounties are usually too small for a pro to bother, so, just relying on them is too risky. I mean, it's better to do both.

~ I am not sure why the whole EU has turned against the Russia knowing that they depend on Russia for fuel supply,

Maybe because you shouldn't necessarily be on the side of someone just because that someone has a lot power? Maybe you should support the oppressed against the oppressor, for a change? Maybe this kind of behavior can make your miserable life better? Life of someone who always submits to a greater power. What can be more miserable.

3292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you spread BTC to people within you on: June 13, 2022, 07:49:28 AM
I recently attended a Friday afterwork function and hung out with some of my colleagues. I don’t normally hang out with most of them and the topic of Bitcoin came up.
Most of them had very little understanding of all the positive benefits of crypto currency and blockchain technology in general.
They asked a lot of questions and I was a bit surprised how well I could go into the details. I’ve been into crypto for so long and I used to be much worse and educating others about it.
You can always tell when people get it from their questions and the way they listen. I’m always very happy to help others when it’s truly appreciated.

Your colleagues are very progressive people, I must say.  First off,  the topic of Bitcoin came up without you bringing it up, right? Secondly, they were asking questions, while most people I'm talking to, they don't ask questions, they "know" everything better than anyone, although their source of information is nothing more than a half-witted reporter from the telly.

Hang out more with them, mate.
3293  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFT slot Machine !! on: June 10, 2022, 09:06:45 AM
Personally, I see the prospect of using NFT in casinos in several ways:

1. NFTs allow for increased bonuses
2. NFT allows you to receive a portion of the casino income.
3. NFT allows you to play games not available to regular users
4. NFT allows you to play a certain number of games for free each week.
5. NFTs must be a strictly defined number, they must be won in the casino and traded on one of the known NFT-platforms

If casino NFTs have a few of these attributes then they will be in demand.

Good point! What I like about this approach is that it would be not necessary for NFT itself to be valuable, to cost thousands USD in ETH on opensea. I mean, at first, of course, because later, if this gambling site is popular, and everything's working like you described, such an NFT will surely become valuable.
3294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Universal Scam Test - Let's Apply it to Bitcoin on: June 10, 2022, 08:35:31 AM
Bitcoin is the best asset in terms of market cap and return. People have made really good money with bitcoin. Bitcoin is based on blockchain which is the future of the internet and it is absolutely not a myth.
Bitcoin is not an asset, but a unit in a system that has zero assets to benefit the unit holders which is why they are forced to dump their worthless units to new investors like in all investment scams. And sure, scams can have huge market cap and return.

From what I read in this thread it looks like you invested in BTC all your money when it was around $70k, and then cashed out recently fearing it's going to zero. Well, you shouldn't have done both, imo. Also, coming here and telling people that Bitcoin has no value, telling it to the people who, no doubt, value BTC, it is called trolling, and this is probably the third thing you should not have done.

Overall, you look like someone, when cars were invented, saying, this metal garbage will never replace good ol' horses.
3295  Economy / Gambling / Re: Gambling Brand Name Vs Site Functionality? Or Both? on: June 10, 2022, 06:56:55 AM
let us put it this way, brand name has just short-term impact on users. later on, the players will look further and that's site functionality.

Correct! that short impact with the name needs to accompany by good services and lots of offers that will allow the players/gamblers to stay and keep on coming back.

Quote
you may attract some users because of your catchy name, and then what? they will only stay if they are satisfied with what you have in your site.

Just the same with your thoughts, it should be followed by good customer service and continuous offers that let those people
to bring new gamblers inside the house, with satisfactions they will bring more potential end users.

Quote
services and functionality for me are important aspects that a gambling site need to take care of.the interest in your brand name will fly off once they  see the unresolved complaints in your site.

It's true! Bad customer service will ruin your business, even you have a nice and attracting brand name.

In short, a brand name can't be attractive by itself, it's services, or, site functionality, associated with it what makes it attractive. The only thing which is really important when picking a brand name is its otherness. If you are making a gambling site that is much more fun to play on than on the similar sites, pick a name which is very different from other sites.

and I got around half of it back, plus 200 sats and some lottery tickets. I think it's not bad. I had my fun, and also I hope to win something with my 500 lottery tickets.

Why not? Smiley ^^

Also placed some sats on my favorite Lewis Hamilton with 19.47 outcome odds. We'll see how it goes.

OP, @icopress, brother, you are in Mykolaiv now, right? Can you update on the situation in the city? On twitter I see reports of long food lines

and heavy rocket strikes.

What's true and what's not?

It's much calmer here in Kyiv since recently, compared to the first 2 months of the war. We were attacked this Sunday by rockets launched from the Caspian Sea,

and our windows did shudder at 6 AM from the explosions because we live in the district that was attacked, but I feel like your situation is much more dire.

Please share with us.
3300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you spread BTC to people within you on: June 09, 2022, 08:25:35 AM

One of the way  to spread bitcoin is to let the people around you to see what bitcoin has done for you first, how reliable is bitcoin  and what you know about bitcoin.  This will convince them and make them to know that they are safe in investing bitcoin.

We must be careful with the word "safe" here. I personally think that investing in BTC is safe in the long term, but if someone wants to make profits within a year, it's obviously not safe to invest.

At this point I think it's enough to convince people that Bitcoin is a useful thing that will stay here for many decades, not a financial pyramid like many still think.
