3281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Change mainstream media's perception on "Bitcoin being used by thieves" on: January 30, 2020, 03:30:01 PM
The best we can do is to give it time to prove them wrong, they will face reality. The piece of eight, considered as the currency used by maritime piracy, was finally used internationally by colonies. If I'm correct even the US dollar comes from it, hence the name 'dollar'.

In the beginning, they said Btc is a gadget but now it can challenge institutions they started to see it differently. A problem is Bitcoin is misunderstood from the mass, but it can change the whole economy, it's only a matter to change the mentalities. People believe in capitalism, Bitcoin can make them believe in humanity.

From "In God, we trust" they will change to "In code, we trust" and the media outlet will follow the trend.
3282  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 3 Reasons You Need to Own a Crypto Card in 2020 on: January 29, 2020, 10:50:46 PM
...

It's incorrect. Even if the cards are 'prepaid' you have the same benefits to the traditional cards (warranty protection, purchase protection) You can, of course, initiate a chargeback, etc, since it's handled by Visa/Mastercard and not the banks. As for the rewards/cashback, well fuck that it's not interesting, the banks reward a ridiculous percentage like 1% or even less while there cashback sites paying 10%. People aren't interested in it.

...

People agree to pay with a higher fee compared to the benefits we have using it. It's not as if it was an outrageous 20%. Companies are new but users are used to not keep money on their account/card. They top up only when they need If they want to buy something for $100, they convert for $100 and that's it, no more no less.

...

The fees to use the cards are near the same as those prepaid cards that you buy IRL. It's not even a profit for the company, except maybe the FX fees)
...

It's useful if you don't want to receive money on your bank account coming from an exchange platform bank account or if you don't want your bank to know what you're doing or if you're in a hurry, etc, etc.
The time we will see a lot of shops accepting crypto payments, the majority of us will be dead or in hospital for seniors, so too late.
3283  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-23] Exchange hacks on the rise on: January 29, 2020, 10:30:10 PM
@1Referee

People are dumb, they think they can become rich overnight, they buy coins without knowing correctly what cryptocurrency is and once they bought their coins the only thing they do all day long is to hit F5 on Coinmarketcap. (off-topic I have listened to someone last week asking me "What happens if Satoshi decides to close the shop?" "He will leave with all the bitcoins mined" Cheesy Grin)

There are 2 interesting questions to ask people buying altcoins

- Did you visit their website?
A lot of them will reply no, crazy isn't? They will tell you they discovered it on a Youtube video or Twitter, people talked about it saying it will pump so I searched on Google how to buy BTC and then bought this shitcoin after looking at Coinmarketcap to know what are the exchange platforms listing it.
If they reply yes then you can ask:

- Did you read the White paper?
The white what? What is that man!

For some money, people can be so naive and stupid
3284  Economy / Speculation / Re: is bitcoin rises high contineue in future next month? on: January 29, 2020, 08:08:24 PM
The BTC price is near the $9,5k key resistance, it's possible to see it continue but I wouldn't be surprised if we see a correction once it hits it, especially if there is a good rejection. If it didn't happen, well $11k and $12k is possible soon... very soon  Smiley Last time was during the summer last year.

But hey, Bitcoin is often surprising compared to what we expect, but if there are still users asking if it's the right time to buy BTC, you're late for a year...

3286  Economy / Economics / Re: Corona Virus and The Effect on The Markets on: January 29, 2020, 03:10:21 PM
...

...

Financial analysts are trying to make a comparison with the SARS virus which appeared in 2003, it had a negative impact on Chinese growth. But the financial markets had rather reacted positively with a rather increased volatility (particularly when WHO announced an alert), the S&P 500 index, for example, had jumped by 10%.

But nowadays China's share of world GDP has tripled since 2003 so the result may be a lot different especially if restrictions start. Perhaps the markets are already anticipating (the case for DAX and CAC40) and that's perhaps why the crypto market is green too (with a positive trend + high volatility). About $700 in a week, if there is an alert from WHO I wonder if BTC can hit $10k :p
3287  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your trading app? on: January 28, 2020, 10:32:08 PM
Bituniverse, it has a smartphone app for Android (I don't know for Apple) as well as a web version.

It uses APIs and for those who dislike that for security reasons, the good thing is your API keys are stored on your device and not on a server. You can also set the permission to 'read-only' so no risk of a trade or transfer out via the API.

You can check indicators like MACD, RSI, KDJ, etc and it has features like TA tools, coin pedia.

There are also Ztrader and Tradetaber to mention but never tried any of them. If it's just to track a portfolio Blockfolio is also great

@Coupable the link you posted is totally out of topic here
3288  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoin after selling order was cancelled before transaction confirmed on: January 28, 2020, 08:46:13 PM
RE:

It's possible Coinmama doesn't own the address bc1q7hsnpd794pap2hd3htn8hszdfk5hzgsj5md9lz.

In your reply above, they mentioned a BTC address starting with 3 (P2SH type), that was supposed the address to receive the bitcoins.
And the address that received the transaction is a bech 32 type.

Their system wouldn't use different address types and I don't see the company lying to you about the original address
Could it be because you copy-pasted a wrong address with a clipboard hijacker malware? Wrong website?

bc1q7hsnpd794pap2hd3htn8hszdfk5hzgsj5md9lz
Is part of a wallet with 78 different addresses. Are you sure you didn't copy-paste by mistake an address from an exchange platform or something?
3289  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Trusted virtual cards on: January 28, 2020, 01:27:16 PM
- Advcash, Cryptopay have VCCs. I haven't used both for about 2 years or more so I can't give feedback.
- Someone (@Gentlemand IIRC) mentioned some days ago Bitpay having Mastercard vouchers in fixed amounts (something separate from their plastic card program).
- Coinsbee.com sells Visa/Mastercard vouchers as well https://www.coinsbee.com/en/shop It has a dedicated topic here if you want to read.

No KYC needed for Coinsbee, up to €1000 for Cryptopay, not sure about others
3290  Local / Débutants / Re: BTC perdu, que deviennent-ils ? on: January 27, 2020, 11:27:07 PM

3292  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lost bitcoin after selling order was cancelled before transaction confirmed on: January 27, 2020, 08:51:41 PM
I guess because you didn't set enough miners fees? You will receive back your transaction when it will be removed from the pool of unconfirmed transactions. It can take 3 days like it can take 1 week.

You could attempt RBF transaction to replace a TX with a fee higher or CPFP but since your order with coinmama is canceled by now you have no use of it

edit: Got it now, I don't see a reason why the address would become invalid then, they're still the owner of the wallet and received the TX ~5 hours ago (here)

There is a double-spend attempt on this transaction by tx/9f87860d743b6d454a19806f7fe6094444278f44987d87e65ff33a6d74f8b84f
3293  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Battery Question? on: January 27, 2020, 08:18:33 PM
I got this problem in the early days and have never really figured why. The brightness was set to the maximum for sure otherwise I can't read correctly. Perhaps because I dropped it on the floor. Finally, I gave up and I got rid of it by giving it to a friend of mine who was new to Bitcoin.

But honestly, some components of the device are of poor quality, particularly the plastic, I have another Nano S, it fell only once and that dislodged the cover. Cheap plastic from Aldi
3294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin transaction dispute on: January 27, 2020, 07:23:48 PM
If you did your job, the fact he hasn't received the bitcoins is none of your business. He provided an address, and the transaction has been sent.
I suppose he's a newcomer and struggles to understand something but it's his own responsibility, not yours. He received the transaction and the blockchain never lies.

Perhaps he used a web wallet or an exchange platform (seems the case here)  and it has a problem, still not your fault. He should contact the customer's support

Taking about web wallet or any exchange, I never seen or known any of them to not showing a tx that has at least 6 conformation for Bitcoin of course.

It happens if the site has troubles internally in the back end office, hosting, or whatever ^^

3295  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Coinsbee.com - Buy gift cards with about 50 crypto currencies! on: January 26, 2020, 09:23:59 PM
...

Oh thanks but I didn't notice it, I expected to see it on the top. With @OmegaStarScream's comment look like I'm not the only one.

Adding an idea to one of his suggestions below, I don't think it has been suggested before.

Quote
Account registration/login system. Don't make it required though. People should still be able to buy gift cards even if they don't make an account.
- User panel (My orders, saved/bookmarked GCs, etc.)
If a day it is something done, selling Coinsbee gift cards would be nice.

I wanted to suggest to make a members panel and lets us deposit coins in the Coinsbee's system. It's good for the regular shoppers, for example, we could deposit $100, buy a $10 gift card today, and use the remaining later.
But I understand it's something sensible since Coinsbee will have to store the coins of the members.

Instead, we could buy Coinsbee gift cards, for example, I buy a $100 voucher and use it when I want in the shop, all at once or not.
For Coinsbee, it doesn't store the user's funds, it's a product sold. For the users, seeing "Your balance is 0.1BTC" or "Your Coinsbee points balance is xxx" it doesn't really make a difference.

And same here, if you plan to translate the website I would volunteer too for free (I speak French only)
3296  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [SERVICE]PresenceUP- AI will write comments and articles for blockchain project on: January 26, 2020, 08:43:24 PM
I tested the product this week and commented about it on the french board. Years ago I used several text generators "built on A.I."
(I'm not talking about the free tools, I'm not talking about the free/paid text spinners.) From what I tested this one is a lot of better than what I used before.
I will surely buy the Lite + plan next week and then the Pro once the Lite+ ended

My experience says every single one of these automated engagement bots are instantly recognisable to me. And I'm not even a native English speaker. But from the samples you submit, they at least do look like they're relevant (which is the number 1 stumbling block with automated response).

I'd be interested in how this performs for LinkedIn. The idea for me isn't to fake comments or responses, but to provide a quick interim response TO comments so that the commenter doesn't have to wait for the actual admin to awake and respond. Think your bot could handle that (responding to comments on LinkedIn)? If so, I'd like to test. It should only respond on certain keywords though, crypto/blockchain and variations of it and not responding on comments like "You're right" or "I agree"...

You misunderstood the product, it isn't an automated engagement bot

It doesn't create generic comments that you can use to reply to someone. Like "Hi thanks for your message, I'm actually this and that, You can find blah blah here, I will get back to you shortly"

It creates relevant comments based on a text you submit yourself

Looks like your AI has done a relatively decent job.

But why would anybody want to use these AI-spun texts? They're so wordy it's almost as if it tried to choose the most underutilized words in the English language and twist them all together into something that arguably makes sense.

Is there a target market you have in mind, do you expect people would use these texts to fill their Twitter? I still think it needs some work if people are expected to actually read this stuff without noticing, but for filler material it could work.

It's not a usual text spinner and yes there is a market to target, a decent one actually.

@finist4x
Can another language be used at the moment? I didn't try anything other than English last time

Stop doing bounties, I’m assuming you are using a translate tool?
We both know that's not going to happen.

What I find interesting is that OP registered here before the merit system was started, so it's very odd that he doesn't know about it and that he's still a newbie.  This is probably just one of many accounts, but still.

He has been quite inactive in 2018 and he isn't a regular user coming regularly, from time to time only. And when he logs in, it's to post his/her bounties stuff.
As you know bounties hunters don't care to read about the forum events nor to participate in the community.
If you don't have "bounty" "airdrop" in the title of the topic they won't open it.

3300  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins bans whole countries on: January 25, 2020, 06:03:54 PM
Another day, another centralized exchange springing new unannounced KYC requirements on their users and holding customers' coins hostage until they either give up their privacy or abandon their coins.

It was announced this week by email to the users concerned. Contact by email is a lot better than a blog post that nobody spends the time to read, or a tweet in the sea. Can't really blame Localbitcoin if it abides by the laws, it's a result of the latest anti-money laundering directive.

The fact some users are unable to withdraw is surely a technical point while they're working on something (preparing the Exodus or something else) I don't think Localbitcoin is going to lie on something like this, not in its interest.

But its trading volume will certainly be slapped in the face one time more
