32901  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Large review of Finksy/J4bbrwock server psus compared to ATX psu- photos up on: January 19, 2016, 03:31:26 AM

I am looking for a link to the dps2500 I would be willing to test it here.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IBM-BladeCenter-DPS-2500BB-2320W-Power-Supply-Unit-39Y7400-39Y7405-/172011963911?

this seems to be it .

Wow how much have you spend on power supplies so far testing them?  Thanks for doing this.  Also if you love the 2500's and feel like dumping the 2000's let me know.  Cheesy

my out of pocket  to run this thread

From finksy/j4bberwock

I was sent 1x 30 pin board for dual 2000/4000
I was sent 1x 20 pin board for ibm 2880 maybe it is   24 pin
I was sent 1 ibm 2880
I was sent 20 15awg pcie cables
I was sent 20 16awg pcie cables

All at no cost.

My purchases 3 ibm 2980     total of 310 = 150 + 80 + 80   and I turned on people to the good ebay price on this.
Two dps 2000 psu's              total of 50
Two scythe fans                   total of 35
two  nuctua fans                  total of 50
two 180mm silverstone fans total of 60
A few power cables              total of 30
A few power plugs                total of 20
A rack                                 total of 20

Grand total                          575

While that seems like a lot  I returned  an Evga 1600T2
and a Seasonc platinum    1200

They were close to 700 at amazon for the two of them

So I am 125 ahead   and  I can run over 6900 watts vs 2800 watts.

When I get the rest of the boards   I can run 2880 + 2980 +2980 =  8840

GRAND TOTAL OF 15820 WATTS.

I am supposed to go partners with another forum member on a 60k solar array.
He does the solar I add the rest.

Hi Phil,

That's the one. I have one too many DPS2500BB and I was looking to get rid of it. I'd happily sell it to you instead of listing it. I'll beat that price on eBay by a bit, and you get a known good PSU. I ran it loaded at 2200W DC for a week and a half to stress test it when I received it. Could have it shipped out to you as soon as tomorrow. Let me know. Smiley

Do you know that the dual boards work with it?
32902  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 19, 2016, 03:13:52 AM
Had anyone troubles with mining with s7 on f2 pool.?
Looks like their hash rate is not stable and gives out 2-3 TH on 80% of observed units (b7).
Only few from 10 work as promised.
But When working on antpool they all hash 4,8 TH.

I guess the question is why would you be mining on F2 and Ant? Supporting the Chinese that don't care about the future of BTC and already own more then 70% of the world hash. So many better pools to pick from.

Most big pool miners do not want the variance risk.  On smaller pools.  Sad as they cause the problem and do not realize it.
I support a lot of small pools and  when I look at the math of :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.0 just up to 12ph
https://www.kano.is/
stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=559011.0  lucky to get 100th
http://mmpool.org/
stratum+tcp://mmpool.org:3333

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1330452.0  stays under 1ph most of the time
http://www.bravo-mining.com/
stratum.bravo-mining.com:3333

all pay better then antpool or f2pool.  but not enough people mine  at them.

They simply do not understand math .

Sounds hard core but it is true.

Now I have 1 s-7  it mines at f2pool inside of my friends old bank.  He still leases 1 floor and I am teaching the game to him in case he decides to   go large in Washington state with a few investors.  Maybe 10ph in gear.  I know they won't want to go to a smaller pool as they do not want variance. So I am showing him why I would use a pool like Kano's  for now we are pointing where he wants which is f2pool.

I hope to get him to move it to kano.is this thursday.

4000 watts and 3 S7's should run fine- you have plenty of headroom

I am stable running 3 avalon6 on a single 2880, I suspect I will run into those issues without proper cooling. Shocked

I ran 17 amps x 240 volts = 4080 volts for 3 ½ days

2 scythe fans cooled the  dual psu  zero issues

i was doing 2 avalon6's and one s-7

4080w x 0.89 = 3631w DC, so you were still under the 4000w spec.

I've run 2 DPS2000 for about a week pulling 4500w DC from them and they didn't even blink. They are super tanks, massively overbuilt. The fact that you can adjust the OCP protection up to 196A via a trim pot should give you an idea.. These guys were overbuilt and under speced to 2000w in order to get higher efficiency I believe. When you're running at 100% 2000w capacity, it's likely that you're only actually using ~80% or so of the PSU's capacity.

Great to know, thank you!

No problem! 2 of these along with your dual breakout board is probably the best way to power miners today IMO. Could even make it a 5000w setup with your board using DPS2500 instead, and get slightly better efficiency to boot.
I am looking for a link to the dps2500 I would be willing to test it here.

we touched 1000ph  2 times before this.

So I don't consider this much different.

Although we almost  are over 1000ph. for the third time.

Until we do it 3 days in a row  I won't be too worried.

my house can do 15 avalon 6's at 4000 gh on an overclock

but 24/7/365 is a no go.

bit fury may have finally cleared up the heating issues or we drop again in a day or two.

ps 162 blocks with 100 minutes left on the day

When were the previous times, they don't seem to show on Blockchain.info

https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate?timespan=180days&showDataPoints=false&daysAverageString=1&show_header=true&scale=0&address=

Rich

That is why I  said touched

here are the two dates.

12-27-2015  202 blocks diff of    93    rate of 668   202/144 = 1.4    x 668 =  935

 1- 10 -2015 178 blocks diff of  103    rate of 743   178/144 = 1.236 x 743 =  918

both days  were counted  under 1000 but  if you took 24 hour time periods from part of either day along with the day next to it you push right at 1000.

today will be the first real 1000  if we do 178 blocks   178/144 = 1.236 x 811.4 = 1,002.8

looks like close again 173/144 = 1.2014 x 811.4 = 974.80

so the highest numbers ever done are

12-27-2015   935
1- 10-2016    918
1- 18-2016    974.8

So we popped a block from a big boy . Thus contest goes on

the pool has 12,121.66THs

1)   1,156.78THs   top gun
2)   811.13THs      second banana
3)   640.76THs
4)  495.20THs

8 ) 351.71THs
9)  298.93THs
10) 258.72THs
11) 253.87THs

the above have too much hash power to win and add to about 5500gh of our 12121 th

so 55% chance that a player can hit it vs 45 % chance a big boy hits it.

I am running 8th so I have an 8 of 6620 shot or about 12 in 10,000 chance

the dreamer has a 234 of 6620 or about  353 in 10,000 chance

I need more power!
32912  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How do these large mining pools make money? on: January 18, 2016, 09:53:54 PM
ok so here are my calculations: assuming cost of electricity, real estate and labor all cost ZERO - and bitcoin price remains constant

both methods show big losses - so unless the chinese are getting these devices at 1/3 the price we have to buy them for, it makes no sense.

Average 2 week increase of bitcoin difficulty in last 48 adjustments of 2 week periods, is 6.1841667%

antminer s7 batch 9 is probably around $1200 at best possible price

so after 90 days:

Output Over 90 Days

Difficulty after 90 days: 171571712432.0.
BTC   USD
Revenue   1.54586823   589.04
Hardware Cost   3.14927567   1200.00
Power Cost   0.00005669   0.02
Profit   -1.60346412   -610.98

now assuming a block halving and mining for 365 days

Output Over 180 Days

Difficulty after 180 days: 244758616301.0.
BTC   USD
Revenue   2.60425378   992.32
Hardware Cost   3.14927567   1200.00
Power Cost   0.00011337   0.04
Profit   -0.54513526   -207.72

and then over the next 180 after block halves : Revenue   0.60896981   232.04

so after 1 year of mining with the halvening, i can count on $25 profit - by risking $1200?

your error is using 48 weeks for your diff average .  it gives you 6%

you could go from Sept of 2014 until now  the average is different

you could go from Jan 2015 until now the average is different.

do 6%
do 5%
do 4%
do 3%
do 2%
do 1%      keep price at 400

any of the above could be true from now until  July1 and any of them could be wrong

BTW we had about 3.4% diff  for the year of 2015

In fact at 400 usd 10 cent power and a diff of 200 the s-7 makes about 8 dollars a month.
