Forgive me if this is out of place, but this thread seems to have forgotten all about DNotes development and instead is just posting news about crypto in general (and various quasi-delusional libertarian dreams of the future). Could we perhaps.... get back to the point?

TeeGee asked a few pages back:

Quote
What do people here think the best way to encourage forum participation is?

The best way to get any participation period is to position the coin as a worthwhile and accessible speculation instrument. Whether you philosophically believe this or not, in crypto it's true. The ability to buy and sell something as a means to make money is the only route to awareness at this time.

So what is the most important short-term goal to achieve? Getting NOTE listed on Cryptsy. Until that happens, very little in the way of adoption or awareness will happen. Sure, you say - we're taking it slow. Well, I guess there's three speeds: slow, dead slow, and stop.

Pushing the listing of the coin on a major exchange will do a thousand times more for usage and interest than any marketing campaign, than any development work, than any linkedin posts..

Cryptsy needs to be our number one target above all else if this innovative coin is going to go anywhere.

Hi Mochilles, good to see you again. There have been a lot of great replies already. We are certainly not typical and may not attract the majority in the crypto community, that is ok. We do need to keep reaching out to find community members who are interested in what DNotes has to offer.

Going a little further with DNotes evolution. We are building services to help people save and store their DNotes in ways that make sense. We will use and grow those services. Then we know the next step will be a service that allows you to purchase DNotes quickly and easily. That and the DNotesVault will evolve into a full blown exchange. What is the next step in the evolution? Will it evolve into a full blown consumer service? How will that evolve? In the beginning it may be a card service that will convert your DNotes to cash and make purchases anywhere. Then it may evolve into a service that merchants can accept DNotes directly. Then it may evolve into a multicurrency card that can be accepted anywhere in the world utilizing any currency with preset preferences on how to spend your money. Can you envision DNotes on such a card?

Coin Cards Finally Ship | Crunch Report

http://techcrunch.com/video/coin-cards-finally-ship-crunch-report/518774631/

We are always thinking, always evolving, and looking for ways to improve. This is not meant to be gospel, it is just an idea for the general direction of DNotes and how it may evolve.

I encourage everyone to contribute to the vision, add to it, change it and share your thoughts.

An experienced developer agreed to help out on DNotes Educational Guide Version 2, and we've been making great progress over the past few days. Expect to see an update within the next month.

While adding news articles on V4DC and FF4DC, I couldn't help but notice that the CRISP logos were a bit lackluster. Maybe a stylish logo would help boost brand recognition?

Looks great CryptoBroker79!

Yeah as of now they are less of a logo and more of the DNotes brand font. We can give it shot, it will be interesting to say the least.

This is one to check out:

"SWISS PENSION FUND MANAGER WAS REFUSED TO WITHDRAW MONEY TO SAVE IT FROM NEGATIVE INTEREST RATES"

Wow. Imagine if your pension fund is sitting in a negative interest account and they won't let you take it out?

Interesting read here on coindesk. From the moment I started to fully understand cryptocurrency and how it worked, it struck me like an epiphany that this technology could help guide human financial and social evolution. When you look at the way things are and try to incorporate cryptocurrency, it can be difficult to see it's value. When you look at how things can evolve to create a cryptocurrency dominant society, it becomes very exciting.

Bitcoin Paves a Way for Evolution of the Species

Economists try to understand this new innovation through modern monetary theory, while those who advocate economic equality tend to dismiss bitcoin as Wall Street-friendly currency with a libertarian bent.

Yet, careful examination of its design reveals how the vision of this technology transcends political ideology. In actuality, it is best understood as a representation of innate human nature and as an innovation that can foster evolution of the species.

“When providing us with content or posting content (in each case for publication, whether on- or off-line) using the Services, you grant the PayPal Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sub-licensable (through multiple tiers) right to exercise any and all copyright, publicity, trademarks, database rights and intellectual property rights you have in the content, in any media known now or in the future. Further, to the fullest extent permitted under applicable law, you waive your moral rights and promise not to assert such rights against the PayPal Group, its sublicensees or assignees. You represent and warrant that none of the following infringe any intellectual property right: your provision of content to us, your posting of content using the Services, and the PayPal Group’s use of such content (including of works derived from it) in connection with the Services.”

If I read that right, they are claiming ownership over all delayed onset coding like smart contracts, novels, music or any other content type that can be transferred across the Blockchain using Paypal services. Bitcoin could 'use' paypal for exposure for the time-being, but users should be certain to never use the Paypal network for anything but basic bitcoin processing. If Paypal is to join forces with Government and enact civil forfeiture, then any house or property contract, novel or content will be seizable by Palpay and their supporting institutions.

The TPP, from what I can tell is awful legislation, and I'm growing tired of people calling it some 'free-trade deal'. Free-trade deals don't require negotiation over which subsidies and industries will be protected, free trade requires zero negotiation full stop! These agreements are in fact occurring behind closed doors, and the politicians responsible are openly saying that this is to protect the likelihood of the agreements reaching an appropriate form for select committee / congressional approval. They don't want the draft for the TPPA getting shut down by hysteria over national sovereignty fears. Digital Currencies ignore national sovereignty, they are useful anywhere. We have our network of free-trade (exchange) with nearly no fees with one another using blockchain. One day these benefits will spread to Government interactions with one another. After world citizens adopt crypto, they will demand free exchange between countries using common currencies - much like the Euro-zone. To think that Digital Currency could end strict trade restrictions like Tariffs and subsidies in decade, maybe two?

Tariffs both make local economies inefficient due to mis-allocation of resources, and subsidies keep otherwise unprofitable businesses afloat. These trade protections also cause much harm to countries on the other side of the world who can't get their goods into big markets like the US at competitive prices.

Sending excess grains to impoverished nations is not much help either to these struggling nations, and doing nothing but destroying their local producers ability to sustain themselves. We put them out of business because nobody can compete against 'free' stuff. If somebody with limitless money bought Tesla Motors and started producing free cars for everybody in the USA, the entire auto-industry would be broke within a year. We keep these developing nations dependent on our foreign aid - the most important thing they can do for themselves is adopt Digital Currencies and get meaningful liquidity into their markets, and start with p2p investing so we can help end this mess. Perhaps that is one for CRISP for Charity to consider!

The key here is in the first six words. What do they consider content and what content would you provide THEM?. It doesn't sound like they have any rights to your website content in general. Perhaps they mean the code used to pass payments on to them from a website or and advertising of PayPal on your site. This needs to be analyzed further.

It is perplexing as to why they would need such an amendment, PayPal needs to weigh in and clear this up. I reviewed their terms of service looking for context and clues, but was unable to come up with any reasonable explanation.

Hi Everyone,

Just showing up to say hello to everyone. You may not be seeing me here as often or can expect the prompt response to every post. That is how companies on the fast track grow. By strategic choice, DNotes flew under the radar for the most part of last year. We are now on the fast track. Once we felt certain that we had established a solid foundation with the most critical portions of our own ecosystem, we started a sustained PR campaign to promote awareness of all our projects. It is already beginning to payoff. Be watchful for a number of write-ups to be published in the coming weeks.

This momentum will intensify. I am also drafting a press release announcing Smokeys Daylily Gardens as the first Merchant accepting DNotes as payment. As you may know, Smokeys Daylily Gardens is one of the largest Daylily Growers in the world. http://smokeysdaylilygardens.com/viewcart.php  We are treating this as our first pilot. The big push for DNotes to be accepted as payment by merchants will kick off at the beginning of 2016. Every move we make is strategic and will only take place at the most opportune time. That is just another DNotes difference and we are sticking to it.

Chicago as the "Epicenter of Digital Currency and Blockchain Technology" is still on. I was up way passed mid-night building some solid connections through LinkedIn. The responses I have been getting are impressive. We are getting known and becoming well respected. Keep up the good work and thanks for all your support.

This is very exciting, that post was packed full of great news.

1. DNotes is on the fast-track and purposefully pushing brand awareness.
2. Dedicated PR campaign and (possibly third party) write ups to come.
3. Worlds first DNote accepting merchant.
4. Chicago epicentre is happening, and other (probably) high profile industry participants are taking notice of, and work in tandem with DNotes mission.
5. Observed rise in awareness and respect for DNotes.

Let's all go find a new regular forum participant / CRISP student so that they can partake early before it's too late! I had a great individual in mind who was asking questions about female participation in crypto (she later saw the cryptomoms release), but she is leaving for Peru in a week.

I know there are lots of silent forum lurkers out there who don't comment because they don't feel like they have anything worthwhile to add. I understand why, I mean, I read forums all the time and this is the only one I've ever posted in - after several months of lurking. If you're new to Digital Currency and are reading this forum to learn about DNotes, or blockchain / Bitcoin in general - just ask a question, you can help steer the conversation in a direction that helps you learn what you need to know.

Thank you TeeGee! In addition, for anyone reading this forum that does not have time to post regularly, stop in and just let us know your reading and how you found DNotes.

Women in bitcoin is a rather hot topic of conversation in the news. There is a bit of negativity in these articles, but it only reinforces CryptoMoms core mission.

jump in ! thanks for tweetgiveaway psybits !

What do people here think the best way to encourage forum participation is? What types of people would be interested in crypto and the problems that DNotes is providing solutions to?

i think the best way to atrack people to forum, is by giveaways in social media, making meetings, ect... videos on you tube, making congress in high schools

but really i spread the word but people not belive .... if you give some coins hey i give a try but two weeks later not remind nothing or worry about nothing related.

this christmas i do a p2p giveaway in family and friends... more than half loose coins.... and no one use it. ( i do give away in doge coins to use in games etc..)

before pass this two options i think must spread in people more time but..

also can atract to dnotes proffesional inversion agencies

can offer to banksters not are all the same. or can go directly to workers inside the bank

I rewteeted all at @ goldentags even though contest is closed for me. I am a great fan of DNOTES FROM DAY 1..

Thanks infovortice,

Yes, CRISP for students is a great platform to use to get people to register easily for some DNotes. If they aren't a student, I find giving away my own works pretty well. I normally give away a substantial amount, but this will have to decrease because DNotes is no longer that 'new', they are worth more now, and I think brand awareness is growing.

I think to most worthwhile supporters that we want to attract, it will probably much less about the 'money' and more about the idea. Many people out there share the sentiment that the banks are ripping them off, charging exorbitant fees and not providing the value consumers demand and could get from Digital Currency.

I found your last point to offer crypto to banksters quite funny, I offer crypto to every banker I meet (the last time was on my / cryptomoms birthday, I gave HIM a good gift!). I have another banker friend who I keep informed about how great Digital Currencies are. We are great friends but we always joke about how we are enemies, and how I'm trying to permanently put him out of work. He unsuccessfully made many generous offers to protect his future and 'turn me to the dark side' of the banking world. He actually purchased his first lump sum of DNotes a month ago. I was daring enough to ask him about Digital Currency financial services when I was flirting with the idea of a small exchange in NZ a while ago where people could buy DNotes with credit cards... but that's a big no no - the banks are going to squeeze us out of the market he reckons. He has yet to come on side fully, but still, he bought (rather than accepted) some DNotes Smiley.

Anybody can be convinced if they give you enough time and respect. These will be the people who do well, the others will rue their mistake of not trying to understand a new idea.

This is just my personal opinion and there are many approaches that will be successful. We are a rare group in a world of instant gratification. Look at the qualities of the people you see here regularly. Tenacious hard working visionaries, is the best way I can describe it. Many of these people are not easily impressed, to win them over we need to share with them the DNotes vision in it's entirety. Today to get that kind of information you would have to look very carefully, maybe even read the entire forum. So, my suggestion would be to recruit people individually who you think share these qualities and values and spend the time to get them interested.

CRISP for Employee Incentive Benefits

Below is the outline for how CRISP for Employee Incentive Benefits will work.

Employer must have a DNotesVault account.

Employer signs up using a form.
-Company Name
-Address
-Representative's Name
-Role
-DNotesVault Email
-Phone Number

Employer is given an admin panel which does the following:
-Provides a company specific URL for their employees to sign up.
-Provides a table of employees that have signed up for that company, including their CRISP for Employee account address, name, email, balance.
This will allow the employer to send DNotes to the employee's as they see fit. In the future we can have optional programs like matching funds and the like.

Upon approval, company receive 1,000 DNotes to help get them started.

Employees may sign up for a specific companies CRISP for Employee Incentive Benefits program using the company specific URL.
The employee will be required to have a DNotesVault account. The form on the employee sign up page will simply ask for their DNotesVault email. Once they submit the form, a new address will be created in their account specifically for this program labeled COMPANYNAME CRISP.

In the future we may have many other options and programs added on to CRISP for Employee Incentive Benefits.

Please provide any comments.

Fighting gender inequality: Crypto Moms celebrate one year of promoting bitcoin

20 April 2015   Hits: 82

Crypto Moms, an American bitcoin forum for women, celebrates its first anniversary. The forum has enjoyed some success in promoting cryptocurrency to its target audience over the past year.

As of March 20th, the forum had a total of 6,713 members, including some who had written hundreds of posts.

Quote
“Crypto Moms was launched in April 2014 with a dedicated mission to increase women’s participation in cryptocurrency. Not only has this ongoing mission been successful, Crypto Moms has grown into one of the best learning centres for everyone interested in digital currency”

The design of the forum looks suspiciously similar to the design of “mama forums” or popular forums that cater to female audiences all around the planet. It is not very clear whether this is a parody or a conscious imitation designed to attract the target audience. However, the forum form allows this popularizing website to offer many solutions that are absent on many big platforms.

For the newcomers, this forum provides blogposts with simple explanations of what some might see as a complex phenomenon. Here, for example, is how Crypto Moms prepare the audience for buying their first bitcoins:

Quote
“People assume that because the coins are in digital form, you have to be a computer genius to ever get their hands on any. But you could not be more wrong. Creating your own wallet and getting coins really could not be simpler.”

Forum moderators clearly have a talent for popularization:

Quote
“Let me introduce you to faucets. Ignore any thoughts of dripping tap water; this type of faucet drips coins. Faucets are an easy way to get some free coins.”

Crypto Moms also write about mining, run a Twitter account, and quickly respond to many events in the global bitcoin industry. They also pay special attention to the success of women in bitcoin industry. Recently, they began to follow Rand Paul’s campaign, but among their perennial favourites is the leader of the Chamber of Digital Commerce, Perianne Boring.

Thank you Dnotes.

The cause IS about causing an effect in that country which is going to raise the life of the individuals in that country and as the people as a whole so they reach a state of knowing that there really is hope, and if this has to be done by way of technology so be it because it is going to create a new reality for them. And by increasing their reality, OUR own life is improved because we are bring about a new state of living in our lives as well.

How do you envision utilizing cryptocurrency to improve the lives of the individuals in that country?

And that is the idea for India and not only for that country. The idea is to increase employment so that these people can see a future and can BE in the future.

Sounds like a worthy cause CosmicHQ

For discussion:

What can a crypto community do that a group of individuals cannot?

Lets not forget that a community that rely their communication on bitcointalk is bot anonymous and fearless... trolling and bullying is their main prerogative.

It does tend to lean that way lol.

It can be tough, but I think we are doing fairly well developing our community here on bitcointalk.

I was just thinking before about the "Golden Rule" brought up by RJF and DYNA. It was a term e-mailed to me a month or so ago and I had not heard it before, although the subsequent quote makes it's meaning certain. I revisited the thought after seeing this article online: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/on-small-business/wp/2015/03/16/no-entrepreneurs-most-of-you-dont-need-angel-investors-or-venture-capitalists/

Kauffman’s researchers discovered that roughly two-thirds of the companies were financed by either personal savings, investments by friends and family or traditional loans. Only one in 10 obtained funding from venture firms or angel investors (individual start-up backers). In fact, credit cards – among the most expensive mechanisms of financing – was used more commonly by start-ups than either angel or venture funding.

The most common sources of funding for high-growth companies - only 7.7 percent of the fastest-growing companies took money from angel investors, while even fewer are backed by venture capitalists (6%). Once again, personal savings and bank loans are far away the most commonly used source of funding.

I've noticed that with many recent applications in social media (GEMS - crypto social network), decentralised governments (bitnation.io), and mobile applications, that bootstrapping business has become common. Digital Currency VC funding is growing rapidly (250m for Q1 2015), but most of this funding is going to well established businesses with a product already on offer. Bootstrap businesses in the crypto world are producing minimum viability products at bare minimum cost, then hoping to rely on future cashflow to further develop the product. How many failed coins did you see this happen with in the last year? One of my favourite coins a year ago was XCurrency or 'XC'. Their developer seemed very competent at programming, and I recall reading his comments on the forums about his 90 hour weeks, taking time off to keep his wife happy, and the excitement and massive workload ahead of him. The dev. followed a stock-standard model of promoting his coin - he released a wallet, client, forum and started a community. Unfortunately, he expanded too fast thanks to 'promising the world'. The excitement at the exchanges caused the price of XC to go up many hundreds of fold, and the dev hadn't even released a working version of 'anonymous' send - the cause of all the hype. The exact same thing happened to DarkCoin or "DRK" - now known as Dash? I remember waiting months to see the proof of concept / execution of their claims, and the price of DRK at one stage exceeded $10 USD, for no other reason than a promise!? If a dev wanted price stability, their gameplan was the worst way to do it. DRK is now worth a tenth of what it used to, and XC is as good as dead.

These dev's planned on doing as much work as they could themselves, and then probably planned on expanding their development using the profit from the currency they had created (or run away). What I don't think they expected, was that in the crypto world, without substance and infrastructure behind your currency, it's price can skyrocket and then drop 90% in a week. The early exposure that XC and DRK created for themselves gave them only a matter of weeks to develop and implement an entire currency infrastructure, anonymous sending innovation, and active community! Traders ride the price bubbles, investors look at a long-term picture and are the biggest protection against price speculation. Investors require convincing, and don't separate with their money easily. No investor will part money for a project where the price is convoluted by speculative trading. XC and many other coins died before even getting off the mark.

When you consider the scope of the mission DNotes plans to achieve (currency of the future - now), and that it is financed by a select few main stakeholders, it is a remarkable achievement within one year. It's interesting to think how different this coins implementation has been. The dev purposefully, and publicly stated that DNotes plan was to fly under the radar, and not be concerned with prices at the exchange while an infrastructure to attract long term DNotes holders was created. Creating an environment that attracts long-term holders, I think, is the best hedge against price fluctuations.

And with that I think I'll head to bed! some of you may have realised that I've been posting my thoughts here a bit lately - they are essentially drafts for another thread I'm to make when I've got enough "DNotes differences" that have been 'peer-reviewed' by everybody here. I am sharing my crypto experiences at the same time. I'd be VERY happy if community members posted what they saw happen with other coins that looked promising, but didn't quite make it (*glances at LTC*), with the inclusion of thoughts as to why.

Another excellent post TeeGee. You quickly recognize concepts and communicate them efficiently.

One of the biggest concerns is the sharp rise and fall that many of the coins are experiencing. If one goes in and buys ABC coin for $40 a coin, within a month the price crashes to $0.04. Odds are that person experienced a great deal of pain and will not be interested to further support that coin. Slow growth, built on a solid foundation, and not hype or promises is more sustainable.

I encourage everyone to help TeeGee, he is working on a very important project for DNotes.
