3321  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 10, 2022, 12:34:24 PM
If it happened once, the only question is when it will happen again.
You have to be either naive or insane to keep hodling this after it (hopefully) reaches $1 again.

You can hardly lose money in a more bizarre way if we are talking here about something that should be stablecoins - although one such move is quite obviously completely wrong and is the result of panic. As far as I can see the price has returned above $0.90, which once again shows that panic and inexperience are not a good combination when it comes to investing in cryptocurrencies.
Yep, it sounds completely crazy to loose $30k+ dollars by panic selling stablecoin and if didn't know guy that told me the story IRL I would have thought he was full of bs. What's even worse is that guy isn't newbie at all but he panicked at the sight of stablecoin dropping like 30% in a few hours and managed to sell basically at the bottom. I can imagine the chaos and panic if tether did the same...
3322  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 10, 2022, 07:35:05 AM
Today was a nasty day for the peg. It’s down to 0.60 and no signs of recovering.
From what I can see on Coingecko, the lowest it went was 0.66. Its still wasn't good at all of course, but its not a negligent difference since we are talking about bitcoin. Its back to $0.9 now by the way.

Wonder if the peg will go back to $1.
It probably will eventually, but its a good warning to all those that are holding large amount in stablecoins. Speaking of that, friend told me this morning that one of his buddies panic sold at $0.7, and he had six figure amount of TerraUST. Somehow I doubt that guy will touch stables ever again.
3323  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Plagiarized Whitepaper - Existence Infinity Metaverse ($EXIS) on: May 09, 2022, 08:42:15 PM
I see people praising Certik here, remember Arbix Finance? Fully certified by Certik, pulled a rug scam, and investors were left with the certification.
It just shows how bar is set low in crypto where such an incompetent and shady company as Certik is probably the market leader. I read recently that they managed to raise ~230 million dollars in the last year or so, with $2 billion evaluation.

They are so shady that they have no issues certifying obvious ponzi schemes that then use Certik name to appear legit and attract investors. Last year I reported one ponzi scheme that was in the process or auditing by them. I provided them all the evidence but they simply didn't care, ignored my warnings and gave that scam nice rating. Gg.
3324  Economy / Economics / Re: Is TERRA/Luna kickstarting a new Bitcoin Standard? on: May 09, 2022, 08:23:26 PM
It was a momentary dip, followed by a quick, and almost complete recovery.
Looks like yet another TerraUSD dip happened tonight, and this time it was way more serious as it went all the way down to 0.93 but this time it didn't recover, at least not yet.

3325  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: May 09, 2022, 08:50:04 AM

3326  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: Stay away and avoid all bounties! on: May 09, 2022, 07:44:29 AM
Many. Im not sure but being in signature campaign, regardless in payment of tokens or usdt or btc, does it all count to be bounty as long as we incentivize it and monetize the reward? Or just because we are paid in btc werent considered as those joining in altcoin campaign who also wear signature but paid in tokens?
You can still be a shitposter whole sole purpose is to leech of this forum even if you are in BTC signature campaign, no questions about it. Currently there are more spots in BTC signature campaigns than there are quality members which makes it easy for such members to earn decent amount of bitcoin.

Regarding altcoin campaigns, those who are doing signature part make a small portion of altcoin bounty campaign while majority consists of newbie accounts that spam social media part of the bounty and that's where the biggest abuse happens due "newbies allowed" rule and where it doesn't make any sense (unfortunately) to do it legit way.
3327  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: May 09, 2022, 07:12:02 AM
3328  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies: Stay away and avoid all bounties! on: May 09, 2022, 06:52:11 AM
The world wide web is so vast and limitless that I really don't know why most people here think that this is their only option. I'd rather become a virtual assistant than just spam social media with crypto links.
The answer is simple: to spam social media links you don''t have to have any skills and involves so little effort that one person can manage more than a dozen of alt accounts. And since we know that majority of people will chose the easy way even though it will give them way less money, no wonder that bounty campaigns are so popular. The bigger question here is why those projects even do bounty campaigns?

It does not mean that if you are bounty hunter your only purpose is to interact due to monetization alone but become an active member too contributing to this forum.
True, but let's be honest here, how many bounty hunters are like that? As I said few days ago in another thread, it simply doesn't pay off to be a legit bounty hunter because there are so many of those with bunch of newbie alt accounts that are diluting the bounty pool.

and you are saying that they say they are audited by the company Analytix Audit, something is not right in this story or I'm misunderstanding it.
This is where he probably found that bit about being audited  by Analytixaudit. Another interesting thing on that screenshot is that they claim to be audited by Certik very soon, while they already have their logo on their website, which is another red flag for me and it's a very well known tactic of a scammy project, to use the name of popular company like Certik to appear more legit. If investors only knew how little that audit means, even if its properly done.

3330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russians collectively hold about $130b in crypto on: May 08, 2022, 08:42:50 PM
of these 307 exchanges that exist, how many do you know the owners? less than 10? or 20?
By name I know only two, Sam Bankman from FTX (even him I had to think hard to remember) and CZ from Binance but not because its hard to find the rest, but because I don't care who is behind them.

the reality has always been that exchange owners are anonymous, look at yobit?
Just because you or me don't know who is behind some exchange doesn't mean that owners are anonymous, you are mixing those two terms. Speaking of that, I also don't know who is the owner of my bank and he certainly can't be anonymous. You see, even shitty centralized exchanges like Yobit are registered somewhere by someone, and in the case of Yobit that place is Panama.

do you know who owns yobit? I doubt anyone knows who the owners of yobit are
Honestly I never bothered to check who is behind Yobit but since you asked I googled it up a bit and it took me like one minute to find out that Yobit founder is a guy named Pavel Krymov (known for bunch of other scams beside Yobit) while current CEO is iyoi tobi.
3331  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Formerlychucks.net becomes first major social platform to accept Bitcoin. on: May 08, 2022, 03:24:52 PM
Major social media platform? Honestly, I never even heard about them (and judging by answers here neither did other members) so how "major" exactly are they?

Yes, you have a good point what's the origin of the name, the name has something to do with the project, and how we can connect this name to a social networking site, obviously the admin did not think about how he will come out with a name.
Name originates from The Simpsons, here is the explanation.

Sneed's Feed & Seed (Formerly Chuck's) is a joke and innuendo from the animated television series The Simpsons. The questionable validity of the punchline and confusing nature of the joke's structure has turned it into a tool for trolling and memes referencing the original quip, which uses the scene from the show as an exploitable in photoshops and other edits. After spreading to 4chan, "Sneedposting" became a widespread shitposting format to reference Sneed's Feed & Seed

And yeah I agree, many won't get the name but I don't think this social media platform is mainstream oriented as this is how they described themselves "Formerly Chuck's goal is to be a privacy centered platform that allows people to communicate through posting, messaging, and streaming"

3332  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Plagiarized Whitepaper - Existence Infinity Metaverse ($EXIS) on: May 08, 2022, 02:52:50 PM
What happened: EXISTENCE INFINITY METAVERSE ($EXIS) plagiarized whitepaper, the thing is they're claimed the project has been fully audited by Analytix Audit, but how can an auditor didn't check the basic thing of the project e.g. whitepaper?
Auditing companies don't audit whitepaper or other aspects of the project and they are solely focused on the smart contract and nothing else so the fact that they are audited doesn't have to do anything with their plagiarized whitepaper.

This raise a question how an audited project isn't work very well and anyone shouldn't only rely on the word "audited"
While project being audited by a reputable auditing company is certainly better than its not, it certainly doesn't mean that project is legit, or even that is not possible to exploit smart contract. For example, one of the most well known audit companies Certik has its share of fails, where smart contracts they audited got eventually exploited. Just wanna add that even if smart contract doesn't have weakness, it still doesn't mean that project is not a scam as  there are multiple other ways to disappear with people's money.
3333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to know if my new topic has been posted by someone before on: May 08, 2022, 02:40:56 PM
That's why isn't ideal for newbies to create a thread because you don't know if it's already existed topic.  .
To be honest, not only newbies are guilty of that, opening a topic without checking if there is already an active one. Its more like a rule on the forum whenever some big news come out, several topics about the same subject and often in the same board.

Yes, most likely this newbie has already experienced some experience of publishing the same topics and heard the comments of other users.
Yep, couple of days ago he opened up a topic about Central African Republic and bitcoin while there were several other topics about the same matter so I suggested him to check before opening a new one. I should have mentioned him the ways to check those as well, but its good that he is slowly figuring things out and asking the right questions.
3334  Economy / Economics / Re: What would happen if Tesla decided to sell its Bitcoin? on: May 08, 2022, 01:45:07 PM
We all know Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter, but how to finance the deal is still unknown.
The billionaire sold some shares in Tesla and is trying to obtain loans from some banks.
I don't know if you know that but he is not buying Twitter all  by himself as he got on board other investors as well like Binance, Saudi Prince etc that will invest more than 7 billion dollars so yeah, I wouldn't worry about him financing the deal.

What would happen if Elon Musk decided to sell his Bitcoin? What will be its economic impact on the price of Bitcoin?
Price would obviously go down for some time, many people would get a chance to buy bitcoin at discount and eventually it would go up, as always. I honestly don't think that he will get rid off bitcoin, especially not at this price level, and he knows that selling bitcoin would affect his favorite altcoin as well.

He's got some influence we know that already and just a tweet from him of a certain coin will moon it by any chance.
Maybe that was the case year ago, but he doesn't have so much power anymore. Unless we are talking about some obscure shitcoin with low mcap that is very easy to manipulate.
3335  Economy / Reputation / Re: My campaign journey has ended due to this on: May 08, 2022, 07:19:42 AM
...the tag would have been revised or removed ..
Speaking of the tag he received, I don't think that explanation written is correct and is even misleading as when I read what you wrote I got impression that @Twentyonepaylots was part of 1xbit signature campaign and got paid for it while that's never been the case. Might be nitpicking but I think that feedbacks should be precise, especially the negative ones.
3336  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russians collectively hold about $130b in crypto on: May 08, 2022, 06:46:56 AM
even if centralized exchanges have people's data, how does the russian government have this information?
They simply ask the owners to give them data, and Russians already did that with Binance who wholeheartedly gave them what they asked for, and same thing will happen when your government asks them for data about you. It's just a matter of time before all centralized exchanges start sharing all the data about their customers to the governments on the regular basis.

we all know that most centralized exchanges are unlicensed and the owners are anonymous people so how did the russian government get all this information?
From where you get that, that owners of centralized exchanges are anonymous? Simply google who is the owner of Binance, FTX, Kucoin, Coinbase and I am sure that you will realize that they are not anonymous at all and are all registered somewhere.

the price of bitcoin is already falling at a frightening level, we have dropped to $34700
Dunno, for me that's not frightening level all. I mean, less than a year ago bitcoin was even lower and then few months later it reached new all time high. If anything. its a chance to accumulate more bitcoin.

They may even have hated Putin because of the war he caused but they are now here being punished for what they hate.
Somehow I doubt that they hate Putin as thanks to them their parents became rich and powerful that enables them comfortable life. Don't worry, they are not some random poor kids that will be affected greatly with it and on top of that they got crash course on why its not smart to rely on centralized exchange.
3337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russians collectively hold about $130b in crypto on: May 07, 2022, 03:55:56 PM
I feel you. This amount is quite huge even for a country as big as Russia.
The real number is probably much bigger as you should keep in  mind that that estimate (and that's what it is, nothing else) includes all crypto currencies and Russians are very active on the crypto market, both as investors and as developers of various altcoin projects. I mean, just take a look at Russian local board, which is by far the most active board on the forum, despite the fact that they have to use VPN to ban it.

How is that possible? How will Binance know accounts of Russian relatives? Or did this ones submit next of kin to Binance on opening the accounts?
My guess is that those persons went through KYC on their platform so Binance didn't have much issues connecting them with Russian government officials.

I do not think it is true. It is a rumor.
Think again, its true.

Binance said Polina Kovaleva, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s stepdaughter, and Elizaveta Peskova, President Vladimir Putin’s representative Dmitry Peskov’s daughter, were among those barred over the last two months.
The cryptocurrency exchange also said that it had blocked Kirill Malofeyev, the son of Konstantin Malofeyev, a Russian oligarch previously charged with violating US sanctions.
3338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ledger USB problem in the airport on: May 07, 2022, 10:28:52 AM
Why would you need a ledger? Just right down your seeds on a piece of paper and carry them in your pocket.
That's far from the safe practice, to carry you seed phrase around, written on a piece of paper.

When you need to spend your coins, download a mobile wallet to your phone and import your seed words and proceed.
What if that's your main storage where you keep majority of your bitcoin, like many people do with Ledger? I would absolutely never import my main storage seed into a mobile wallet as risk is simply too big. For me mobile wallets serve only as a hot wallets where I have no more than few hundreds of dollars at any given moment.

There are hardware wallets that look like parts of hardware, though, like USBs. Again, it doesn't make sense to censor me if I'm caring a hardware wallet.
I am quite certain that 99% of the airport security wouldn't be able to differentiate Ledger and a regular USB and probably have no idea what hardware wallet even is.

@Pepinagomez I carried my Ledger wallet once or twice with me on the plane (it was in my cabin luggage) and I had no issues with it whatsoever. I generally avoid doing that due obvious risks that are already mentioned, but on a few occasions I was away from home for a longer period of time and for certain reasons needed my hardware wallet with me.

3339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can i transfer from private wallet to CEX privately? on: May 07, 2022, 07:31:11 AM
I want to transfer funds from my private wallet to CEX who don't need KYC, like KuCoin, Bybit, etc.. the amount isn't much around $300 and i want to use it for trading, trading on DEX is nowhere similar to trading on CEX. also i don't see myself withdrawing massive amounts of CEX anytime soon, so withdrawal won't be an issue too.
If you plan to stick to the smaller amounts then chances are that Kucoin won't ask you for KYC, just keep in mind that if you end up being successful at trading and end up with a lot of money, Kucoin will most likely ask you to go through KYC process.

I never want to withdraw to bank, want to earn online spend online on basic stuffs. Just want to move form private wallet to CEX for trading, i don't have BTC in private wallet only some altcoins
Another thing to keep in mind are withdrawal  fees are those are not negligent at all, especially since you mentioned that you wanna use your crypto to pay for stuff. For example, both Kucoin and Bybit have 0.0005 BTC fee.
3340  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Standard of a Meritorious post on: May 06, 2022, 09:11:24 PM
It is a problem for the newbies getting merits
No its not. Well, at least not to those that either have something to say or have something to ask.

the eagerness is endless as they anticipate merit in any content they have put up effort with
..which makes many of them pushing too hard in order to get merit so they pretend to know more than they actually do by plagiarizing or making merit fishing topics.

But it seem not coming.
It is coming to genuine newbies that come here to learn some things about bitcoin.

Is it that those who have excess of merits reserves their generosity or there are laid down principles in writing a Meritorious contents.
No, and there are no rules when it comes to what is "meritorious content", everyone is free to decide that for themselves.
